The Socio-economic Transformations in the Peri-urban of Bandung Metropolitan Area
Urban growth is referred to as the expansion of an urban area into the surrounding environment. The expansion gives rise to sub-urban development phenomena called peri-urbanization, which occurs in physical, economic, and social changes. This paper identifies the socio-economic transformations in the peri-urban Bandung Metropolitan Area, based on the theoretical determination of socio-economic variables and peri-urban typology. The study emphasizes the main feature of the socio-economic changes in each peri-urban typology based on the discriminant analysis. Socio-economic transformation is analyzed on the variables of population density, household economic sectors, people's education, and the number of prosperous families. A Peri-urban area is divided into three typologies: Predominantly Urban (dominantly urban characteristics), Semi-Urban, and Potential Urban Area (dominantly rural characteristics). The data and information required for the study are generated mainly from secondary sources. The study shows that socio-economic transformation occurs in each peri-urban typology at different levels of change. The different characteristics of peri-urban typology and its proximity to the city center result in a high socio-economic transformation rate

ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN URBAN SETTLEMENT PUBLIC SPACES: BEHAVIOR AS AN IDENTITY
Behavior aspects cover response of interaction between human and places, showing existence of interactive spaces that not only describes behavior but also the place character. Currently, the level of need for human social and economic interaction is increasingly binding. Purpose of this study is to identify behavior of users in public space especially in utilizing space when they carry out social and economic activities simultaneously, and to question whether the creation of public space can reflect the character of identity. Activities to be observed are in residential corridor of Sekarbela, Mataram City. This space is used daily as space for social and economic interaction. This is qualitative research using grounded theory and case study. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, description, and documentation. Interactive analysis model is used with descriptive analysis of behavior setting in Sekarbela corridor. The results show that social and economic activities are behavior identities in public space of urban settlement. The routine activities of production, distribution, and consumption in this area unwittingly make this space unified and give more meaning to a public space; not only perceived social and economic space separately but intertwined each other and makes the public space more vibrant
HYBRID SPACE AS A FORM OF SOCIAL ASPECT SUSTAINABILITY IN THE URBAN SPRAWL PHENOMENON (CASE STUDY: DARMO PERMAI AREA SURABAYA-INDONESIA)
Urban sprawl is a phenomenon characterized by the accidental movement of residents from the downtown to the urban periphery. This urban sprawl phenomenon tends to hurt the urban boundary. The concept of spatial hybrid can indirectly be indicated as a form of sustainable urban development that overcomes the problems caused by the negative ImpactImpact of urban sprawl in the urban periphery. This study uses the constructivism paradigm. The strategy in this research is a combination of qualitative research and case studies. It specifically selected case studies in the area of Darmo Permai Surabaya-Indonesia. The Darmo Permai area is a form of urban sprawl that began in 1973. The Darmo Permai area finds harmony between the newcomer and residents through an adaptation process. This harmony is manifested in a hybrid space analyzed from the social aspect of sustainability. The hybrid space is founded based on the activities of its residents, which are characterized by five aspects of the hybrid space. The five aspects of the hybrid space are coexistence, transfusion, interconnection, ambivalence, and heterogeneity
The Establishment of Decision Making Support Tool for Inventory Control and Production Planning with Periodic Review System and Linear Programming Approach
PT. Mortars is an instant cement producer with many product variants. Some problems that PT. Mortars encountered are uncertainty of demand, limitation on production capacity, and inventory capacity, which caused product shortages and high inventory costs. The production scheduling process is produced manually so it requires a long time, relying on the ability and experience of the production planner which is vulnerable to mistakes. Therefore, new methods and tools are needed for inventory control and production scheduling to make sure goods are delivered to customer just in time while maintaining operational efficiency. Periodic review system (R,S) and (R, s, S) methods are proposed in this study to improve inventory parameters and reorder systems that have an impact on service levels and inventory costs. The tools are designed using Microsoft Excel software with solver add-ins functions and linear programming approaches to generate optimal production schedule decisions automatically. In order to determine the level of service and inventory costs generated by each method, a simulation is conducted by using the tools that have been made. The simulation of the existing method produces a service level of 98,64% and a total inventory cost of Rp. 1.167.160.494. The periodic review system (R, S) method resulted in increasing service level of 0,96% and lower inventory cost of Rp. 15.130.801 while the periodic review system (R, s, S) method resulted in increasing service level of 1,29% and a lower inventory cost of Rp. 448.653 compared to the existing method. The periodic review system (R, S) method produces the lowest inventory costs while the method (R, s, S) produces the highest service level compared to other methods
