    PENINGKATAN KEAKTIFAN DAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR BIOLOGI MELALUI DISCOVERY LEARNING PADA SISWA KELAS XI IPA ICT 2 SMA MUHAMMADIYAH 1 KARANGANYAR TAHUN PELAJARAN 2014/2015

    The objective of this research is to improve student’s activity and motivation of class XI IPA ICT 2 SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. The result of the observation which is student appeared unenthusiastic attitude towards learning is being implemented, so its needed a learning model which accommodate student’s activity and motivation learning. One of the models that accommodate and treat student’s activity and motivation learning less is discovery learning model. Kind of this research is classroom action research.The methods of data collection are through observation, questionnaire, and interviews. The data are in the form of students’ activity and motivation at every phase of discovery learning models in each cycle of the action. The analysis of the quality of percentace average observation and questionnaire of student’s activity and motivation learning. The results of the application of discovery learning model showed an increase of the quality of student’s activity and motivation. The observation quality student’s activity in the pre cycle is 38,82%, the first cycle is 66,76%, and the second cycle is 83,71%. The questionnaire quality student’s activity in the pre cycle is 51,12%, the first cycle is 75,13%, and the second cycle is 78,68%. The observation quality student’s motivation in the pre cycle is 42,86%, the first cycle is 67,30%, and the second cycle is 79,89%. The questionnaire quality student’s motivation in the pre cycle is 49,29%, the first cycle is 71,86%, and the second cycle is 76,55%.Based on the result of the research, it can conclude that the application of discovery learning model can improve student’s activity and motivation learning. Keywords: Activity, Motivation, Discovery Learnin

    The research objective was to improve student’s Intergated Science Process Skill (SPS) on biology by guided inquiry learning combined with brainstorming activities of XI MIA 2 SMA N 1 Karanganyar. The research was Classroom Action Research with 2 cycles which consisted of 4 phases namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Intergated Science Process Skill was assessed in this research were constructing hypothesis, designing investigation, investigation, collecting and processing data was assessed by observation and integrated SPS cognitive test. The subject of the research was 36 students of XI MIA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. The data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive technique. The result in cycles I and II showed that Intergated SPS on biology significantly increased by the guided inquiry learning model combined with brainstorming activities. The improvement based on observation results in constructing hyphothesis was about 62,8%, designing investigation was about 72,69%, investigation was about 79,63%, and collecting and processing data was about 68,98%. The improvement based on Integrated SPS cognitive test results in constructing hyphothesis was about 91,67%, designing investigation was about 82,41%, collecting and processing data was about 65,97%.     This research was aimed  to improve cognitive ability of student class  XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta academic year  2014/2015 through the implementation of inquiry learning model that is combined with mind mapping. This research was classroom action  research  that divided  into two cycles. The subject of this research is the student of  XI MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta academic year  2014/2015. The method of data collection through tes, observation, interviews, and documentation. The data is analyzed with descriptive analytical technique and validated by triangulation  technique.The result show that student cognitive ability is increased  in pre-cycle, cycle I, cycle II. The average of students cognitive ability increase from  pre-cycle  35,01 % to 55,21 %  at cycle I, and 78,02 % at cycle II. Remembering aspect  increase from 40,40 %  to 88,88 %. Understanding aspect increase from 37,87 %  to 82,31 %. Applying aspect increase from 46,46% to 82,82 %. Analyzing aspect increase from 29,29 % to 73,73 %. Evaluating aspect increase from 26,76 % to 71,20 %. Creating aspect increase from 29,29 % to 69,18 %.     PENERAPAN MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA KELAS X-4 SMA NEGERI KEBAKKRAMAT TAHUN PELAJARAN 2014/2015

    This study was aimed to improve the students critical thinking ability of the biology student in X-4 SMA Negeri Kebakkramat academic year 2014/2015. This research was a class action research which consists of three cycles. Each cycle contains planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The subject of this research was the student in X-4 SMA Negeri Kebakkramatand the amount was 36. The data collecting techniques of this research are test critical thinking ability, observation, interview and documentation. The data validation of this research was triangulation method. The data were analyzed by qualitative description techniques. The result shows that student critical thinking ability is increased in Pre-cycle, Cycle I, Cycle II, and Cycle III. Interpretation aspect increase from 42,36% to 95,14%; inference aspect increase from 56,94% to 83,33%; evaluation aspect increase from 58,33% to 95,14%; explanation aspect increase from 49,31% to 95,14%; analyze aspect increase from 59,72% to 88,89%; self-regulation aspect increase from 46,53% to 95,75%. This research’s conclution is the implementation of Problem Based Learning can improve critical thinking ability of the student in X-4 SMA Negeri Kebakkramat academic year 2014/2015. Keywords: Problem Based Learning, Critical Thikin

    This research aims to find out the effect of the implementation of cooperative learning type Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) with LKS towards students’ learning achievement of the class  VII  at SMP N 21 Surakarta.This study is a quasi-experimental studies which use Posstest Only Control Group Design. The independent variable in this research is the application of cooperative learning, the Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) whereas the dependent variable is students’ achievement in learning biology at 3 levels’, namely: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. The population of the study is the entire class  VII  at SMP N 21 Surakarta in academic year 2012/2013. The samples are taken towards control and treatment group. The sample is taken by using Purposive Sampling method. The data are collected by using test (for cognitive achievement) whereas for the affective and psychomotor aspects the data are taken by using observation methods. The obtained data are analyzed by using t-test.The result shows that the implementation of Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD) with LKS has taken good effect towards students’ achievement in affective and psychomotor aspects, but has not on the cognitive achievement students in class  VII  at SMP N 21 Surakarta. Keywords: Cooperative Learning, Student Team Achievement Divisions (STAD), Learning Achievement, LKS

    The purposes of this action research are (1) to improve the concept understanding on excretion system through the implementation of guided inqury learning model, (2) to know the influence of guided inquiry learning model toward students concept understanding on excretory system, and (3) to know the level of student understanding on excretory system concepts. This study is an action research (Classroom Action Research) was carried out in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were students of class XI IPA ICT SMAN Kebakkramat in academic year 2013/2014. Data were obtained through cognitive tests, observations, and interviews. Data analysis techniques using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. Data validation using triangulation techniques. The results showed an increase in students' understanding of concepts for each sub subject of Excretory System. The level of understanding of the concept increased by 33.7% in the sub subject of skin excretory system, 8.93% in sub subject excretory system of the lungs, 22.62% in sub subject of renal excretory system, 20.7% in the sub-principal discussion liver excretory system, 8.93% in sub subject excretory system disorders, and 17.27% in sub subject of animal excretion system. Based on the results of this study concluded that learning through Guided Inquiry models can enhance students' understanding of the concept of excretory system grade XI IPA ICT SMAN Kebakkramat in academic year 2013/2014. Keywords : Guided Inquiry Learning Model, Understanding Concep

    Research aims to analyze the impact of Guided Discovery Learning model combined with Concept Map toward concept understanding on immune system of students grade XI. The research was a quasi-experimental research with post-test only with non-equivalent groups. The population was all classes of grade XI IPA of SMA N 6 Surakarta. The sampling technique was cluster sampling and data was collected by test and non test method. A multiple choice test and essays was developed to measure students concept understanding on immune system. Meanwhile, the non test methods consisting of documentation, observation, and questionnaire were developed to asses the learning process, psychomotoric, and affective domain. Hypothesis test were analysed by t-test using SPSS version 16. The result are Guided Discovery Learning models with Concept  Map is more effective to improve concept understanding on immune system of  student, and it also found that students have most misconceptions in mechanism of immune system, antigen and antibody, and also affect of immune system. Keywords: Guided Discovery Learning, Concept Map, concept understandin

    The aim of this research is to ascertain the influence of guided inquiry based joyful learning (interjoy) learning models toward science process skills of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2012/2013. This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design. This research applied guided inquiry based joyful learning (interjoy) learning models in experimental group and direct instruction learning models in control group.  The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Surakarta in academic year 2012/2013.   Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X.10 as experiment group and X.8 as control group. Data was collected using KPS test, observation sheet, and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by t-test.     This study aimed to find out the difference of Biology learning outcome in the applications of Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) and Problem Based Learning (PBL) models in the X graders of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in the school year of 2013/2014. This study was a quasi experimental research with posttest only with nonequivalent control group design. This study employed Inquiry Based Learning model in the experiment-1 group and Problem Based Learning in the experiment-2 group. The population of research was all of the X MIPA graders of SMA Negeri Surakarta in the school year of 2013/2014. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling one, so that the X MIPA 2 grade was obtained as experiment 1 and X MIPA 5 grade as experiment 2 groups. Techniques of collecting data used were multiple choice test, observation sheet, and school document. The hypothesis testing was conducted using t-test. From the result of research, it could be concluded that there was a difference of biology learning outcome in the applications of Inquiry Based Learning (IBL) and Problem Based Learning (PBL) models in the X graders of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta in the school year of 2013/2014. Key Words: Inquiry Based Learning model, Problem Based Learning model, biology learning outcom
