The Influence of INSTAD Learning Strategies Toward Metacognition And Student’s Cognitive Achievement In Studying Biology
Learning biodiversity using INSTAD learning strategy to improve metacognition awareness and student’s cognitive achievement : a study toward student of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta.This research is considered as a quantitative research, and analyzed as according to quasi-experimental paradigm. The research was designed using pretest-posttest randomized subject control-group. Experimental group was determined and upon which INSTAD strategy was applied. Instead of the non experiment one. Such the aforementioned strategy was conducted upon student of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta as a population. Sampling was taken randomly upon two chosen the X-5 (experiment class) and the X-4 (control class). Data was collected using questionnaire, test and observation form. The data were analyzed by anacova.Results of the study showed that metacognition was significantly affected by INSTAD. However the application of INSTAD has taken effect on student’s cognitive achievement in studying biology of SMA Batik 1 Surakarta. Implementation Learning Strategy Think Talk Write to Improve Student Learn Motivation on Biology Class VIII D SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta Class Year 2010/201
The purpose of this study was to increasing students motivation to study biology with implementation of Think talk write learning strategy through increased motivation to learn.This research was a classroom action research through the implementation of Think talk write learning strategy. The research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four phases, namely planning, implementation actions (acting), observation, and reflection. The subject were students in grade VIII D SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta academic year 2010/2011. The sources of data derived from teacher and student information, places and events of the ongoing learning activities, and documentation. The techniques and data collection tool used observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The data was analysized techniques with descriptive analysis techniques. The data validation used triangulation techniques.The result proved that the implementation of the classroom action research through the application of Think talk write learning strategy write could be improving the motivation of learning biology in grade VIII D SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta.. Based on observations, questionnaires and interviews. The percentage of each indicator is based on students motivation observation sheets, precycle 39,05%, first cycle 69,52% and second cycle 89,52%. Based on these results, it could be concluced that the implementation of Think talk write learning strategy was increasing the students motivation to learning Biology in grade VIII D SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta academic year 2010/2011. Pengaruh Model Project Based Learning (PjBL) terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Kelas X SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar Tahun Pelajaran 2012/2013
This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Project Based Learning (PjBL) on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in biology subject in the school year of 2012/2013. This study was a quasi-experimental research using Post-test Non Equivalent Group Design using cluster sampling. The population of research was all X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in the school year of 2012/2013 consisting of 288 students, while the sample consisted of two classes: control one containing 33 students and experiment one containing 35 students. The control class employed varied lecturing learning method and the experiment one employed Project Based Learning (PjBL) model. Technique of collecting data used was test item and observation sheet. The research hypothesis testing was done using t-test.The result of research showed that Project Based Learning (PjBL) model affected the students’ critical thinking ability. The mean score of critical thinking ability in the experiment class employing Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in learning was higher than that in control class employing varied lecturing method.The conclusion of research was that Project Based Learning (PjBL) model affected significantly the critical thinking ability of the second semester of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in the school year of 2012/2013.
