    Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) is a public company engaged in serving electricity in Indonesia. The company is a state-owned company which has a lot of human resources both from the level of general education up to the highest level of education. The rapid development of industrialization and technological innovation makes the company must be more competitive in facing the increasing of fierce competition in the current era of globalization. This study aims to analyze and prove the influence of organizational culture and work environment on employee performance through job satisfaction as a mediator or as an intervening variable. The study was conducted at PT. PLN (PERSERO) Distribution West Java Area Majalaya. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to 146 employees and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) which was run by using AMOS 21.0 software. The results show that the organizational culture and work environment of PLN West Java Distribution Area Majalaya have a positive and significant influence on job satisfaction. Furthermore, the organizational culture, work environment, and job satisfaction of PLN employees have a positive influence on employee performance

    PT IB. Sumberdaya Development is one of LPG agent partners of PT Pertamina. This company is assigned to distribute 3 kg LPG. The LPG shipment is carried out from Monday to Saturday. The shipment goes to 66 depots using agent vehicle which are registered in PT Pertamina. From the preliminary study, there were problems which related to the long-distance shipment, and the limitation of transportation and capacity.  In this research, the shipment routes of 3 kg LPG in PT IB is determined. Sumberdaya Development problems consist of the distance of the travel, the time of travel, and optimal transportation cost. Based on Clarke and Wright Savings Matrix algorithm, by considering the vehicle capacity, the distance can be minimized. The point of this algorithm is calculating the saving by measuring the available reduction of distance and time. It is done by linking the existing depots and making a route which is based on the largest saving value of the distance from the agent to the destination depot. Each route is optimized by WIN QSB software by using Branch and Bound method. A program to facilitate the determination of shipment routes by using PHP programming language is designed. The proposed route for the 3kg LPG shipment is 762.35km  with  33.58% saving, and the proposed time is 2929 minutes with 15.27% saving. The shipment schedule is designed from Monday to Saturday day to Saturday with each of 7 routes. This is better than the actual route used by the company

    The process of batik tulis (hand-waxed batik) dying in Kalinyamat Wetan, Tegal Municipality is performed in stooping and squatting working postures. Workers’ both hands hold a cloth and dip the cloth into a bucket containing colorants. When this dip dyeing process proceeds continuously for an enormous number of cloths, it will eventually result in musculoskeletal complaint, particularly in the such parts of body as the back, neck, leg, upper arm, lower arm and wrist. This research aims at designing an ergonomic batik dying machine to enable a natural body posture at work. The research anthropometry data and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method. The research on batik craftswomen’s working posture during the traditional dip dyeing process found that the stooping and squatting worker’s posture scores are 4-8 with medium to high musculoskeletal levels (needs to needs to be immediately corrected). Meanwhile, the machine dip dyeing work position with standing body posture scores are 2-4 with safe to low musculoskeletal level (maybe need to be corrected in longer term). As for the specification of batik dyeing machine, it uses driving force of 0.190 HP, machine rotation of 72.5 rpm

    In a manufacturing process, quality is not only seen from the final product, but also manufacturing process.  PT JI located in Cikarang is a company that produces paints and powder coating. Currently, the company has problems with 24.16% products that need rework or additional process. To increase productivity, PT JI applies the A3 project that is Right First Time (RFT). RFT is how to create a product with a one-time process and produce a product that has good quality on the first test. The average percentage of total RFT products in September 2016-January 2017 was 75.84%. This result is still below the company target of 80%. This study found the source of problems analyzed the manufacturing process using control chart, process capability, fishbone, and pareto. Taguchi method and ANOVA are applied to improve the design process. The application of the Taguchi Method shows that the factors which influence the value of viscosity quality are number of White Spirit, Number of Genekyd, Total Tio2 (kaolin), and mixing temperature, where each factor has an optimal level of 26.01%, 56.07%, 18.78% and 45oC. Then, it is found that all control factors have significant effect on viscosity value from ANOVA analysis. The application of this Taguchi method increases the process capability to Cp = 1.68 and Cpk = 1.43 from Cp = 0.29 and Cpk = 0.18, as well as an increase in RFT percentage of 5.78% or to 81.62% over the last two months

    Desain dan Analisis Artificial Exoskeleton pada Prajurit TNI

    Soldier’s activities resulted in too much workload received by the body, especially in the back and waist. These conditions produce a high risk of musculoskeletal disorders especially if conducted continuously. The soldiers must carry a backpack containing supplies during training weighing up to 40 kg on average. All activities are conducted manually until the training is finish. Thus, the purposes of this study are to reduce spinal injury by identifying factors resulting from lifting loads that exceed the limits of the body, calculate the maximum load limit that can be carried by a soldier, and produce artificial exoskeleton as a tool for the Indonesian Armed Forces. The study used anthropometry, biomechanics, and physiological approach in solving the problem. The results show that the safe load can be carried by the soldiers is 30.46 kg. The body parts that feel the complaint are the upper neck, back, shoulder, buttocks. In addition, this study can produce a design of an artificial exoskeleton with the following dimensions: chest thickness 23 cm, chest width 32 cm, back length 52 cm. The soldiers can increase the force load by 9% of the initial weight of the load using this design

    An Application of Genetic Algorithm in Determining Salesmen’s Routes: A Case Study

    This paper presents a case study of determining vehicles’ routes. The case is taken from a pharmaceutical products distribution problem faced by a distribution company located in the city of Padang, Indonesia. The objective of this paper is to reduce the total distribution time required by the salesmen of the company. Since the company uses more than one salesman, then the problem is modeled as a multi travelling salesman problem (m-TSP). The problem is solved by employing genetic algorithm (GA) and a Matlab® based computer program is developed to run the algorithm. It is found that, by employing two salesmen only, the routes produced by GA results in a 30% savings in total distribution time compared to the current routes used by the company (currently the company employs three salesmen). This paper determines distances based on the latitude and longitude of the locations visited by the salesmen. Therefore, the distances calculated in this paper are approximations. It is suggested that actual distances are used for future research

    Nowadays, developers of residential houses often neglect to pay attention about the air circulation as one of the factors that affects thermal comfort zones inside the room environment. In general, people overcome the thermal discomfort using mechanical ventilation such as a fan or Air Conditioning (AC).This study measured the comfort zone of 32 row houses in the Batam city with two types of floor area (LT ≤ 36 m2 and LT > 36 m2). Other variables include Ceiling Height (Tpi), Aperture Area (Vi), Wall Materials (Bhi) and Orientation (Ori) were also considered in this measurement. The results show that thermal comfort zone was influenced by the wall material (Bh1) made from brick, aperture area (V2) > 20% of the floor area, and ceiling height (Tp2) > 3 m. While the house orientation variable can still be received by utilizing the architecture techniques to reduce direct solar radiation. This study also formulated three models of row house design with ergo-ecological concept,  which are  Ree = f {Lti, Bh, V, Tp2, Ori} atau Ree = f {Lt2, Bh, V, Tp1, Or2} atau Ree = f {Lt1, Bh, V, Tp1, Or1}

    Inventory is one of many factors of the business operation that need to be controlled by industries in order to improve efficiency, enhance productivity, and decrease the holding cost. The holding cost of inventories in supply chain contribute to 20% - 40% of the product value. It can be controlled by applying appropriate inventory model, such as EPQ/Economic Production Quantity and EOQ/Economic Order Quantity. EPQ is an inventory model that used to determine the optimum production lot size with balanced the production setup cost and holding cost. Even the classic EPQ has applied widely in industries, the assumption used by this model differed between the researchers whether it is continuous or discrete demand, because the multi delivery or discrete demand is mostly used by industries. Even so, there are industries that used both continuous and discrete demand simultaneously. Based on previous research, there was an advanced EPQ model that synchronizing both assumptions simultaneously, but it still addressed single item problem. Since almost the industries produced multi item, this model has lack of applicability. Therefore, this research proposed a multi item EPQ Model that synchronizing continuous and discrete demand simultaneously. The solution procedure that used in this proposed model are classical calculus method/differential calculus and simultaneous approach. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach based on the data from the literature

    CV ABB is a medium scale car rental company which manages around 150 vehicles consists of small car (sedan or MPV) until large bus. To supporting the maintenance of all vehicles, they build a warehouse for spareparts and tools. Unfortunately, the management of warehouse does not have a good governance because all records done manually. This situation creates very high risk for data manipulation because manual record method is done by warehouse officer, lost of spare part in warehouse, counterfeit receipt, and no system to control spare part in warehouse. An improvement need to be done by implementing a warehouse management information system to overcome this problem. By applying information system analysis and design concepts and implementing through the application of PHP7 and MySQL, the new system can control all spare part in warehouse including incoming and outgoing spare part, PIC who requests the spare part, checking stock of spare part in the warehouse and stock out used by finance to make purchase order, spare part report from supplier and spare part request report. This system is also able to help finance to create purchase order and get approval from the user in order to make the process is more transparent and accountable
