The Effect of Self Regulation-Based Holistic Health Counseling Services in Improving Students' Psychological Well Being
The objective of this study was to determine the effect of self-regulation-based holistic health counseling in improving university students’ psychological wellbeing. Thirty students in Semarang who had low scores on Ryff's Psychological Wellbeing Scale participated as subjects in this study. An experiment was conducted with randomized pretest-post-test comparison group design for a total of 41 days. The experimental group was given a self-regulation-based holistic health counseling intervention. Meanwhile, students in the control group were given physical health interventions and effective study habits. Mann-Whitney U test was conducted to compare the effectiveness of the intervention in the experimental and control groups. The results of the research showed that compared to the control group, the intervention in the experimental group was more effective in increasing the students’ psychological wellbeing. The results of this study are useful as an alternative in helping students in Semarang to improve their psychological wellbeing
Smartphones Trigger Depression: A Review of Meta Analysis
The development of technology and the digital world that is very fast to produce a variety of smart phones with their advantages and uniqueness. The development is increasing the number of smartphones from children, adolescents to adults. The use of smartphone for period of time can lead addiction to smartphone. Difficulties to get rid of smart phones cause teens to deal with anxiety, stress, depression and lead to death. The purpose of this meta-analysis is to find out the relationship between smartphone addiction and depression among adolescents. This meta-analysis involved 14 literatures (2009-2019) with an average age (M = 16.15 years, N = 9895). Enterpreneurial Motivation Students Reviewed from Adversity Quotient and Type A and B Personality
This study aims to determine empirically the correlation of adversity quotient with entrepreneurial motivation, and the differences in entrepreneurial motivation between students with type A and type B personality. The hypotheses in this study are: (1) there is a positive relationship between adversity quotient and entrepreneurial motivation; (2) there are differences in entrepreneurial motivation in students with types A and type B personality, entrepreneurial motivation in students with type A personality is higher than students with type B personality. The quantitative methodology is used for this study. Subjects in this study were 96 students of Soegijapranata Catholic University who were taking theses selected based on incidental sampling technique. In this research, the scales are used as data collection methodology, they are Entrepreneurial Motivation Scale, Adversity Quotient Scale and Type A and B Personality Scale. The data obtained are then analyzed by Product Moment correlation and t-test techniques. The result of hypothesis testing (1) shows rxy = 0,375 with p equal to 0,000 (p < 0.01) then the hypothesis is accepted. Determinant Factors of Customers Loyalty in Hotels in Bandung City
This research verified the direct causal effects between thinking styles, customer satisfaction and service quality toward the customer loyalty. On the other hand, the indirect causal effects were verified through mediation variable such as customer satisfaction, trust, customers engagement, switching barriers, and commitment. This research used path analysis as the data analysis technique. The result revealed that service quality affected customers loyalty directly and indirectly, customers satisfaction only affected the customers loyalty if was mediated, meanwhile thinking style didn’t give significant direct and indirect effects towards customers loyalty
Victims Of Dating Violence Are Reviewed From Peer Group Emotional Support
The purpose of this study focuses on handling victims of courtship violence (KDP) through peer group emotional support. The characteristics of the peer group lead to emotional attachments such as a sense of belonging, love, closeness, trust, and acceptance by the group, which is not obtained from parents. Through peer groups, subjects are more free to tell stories, feel comfortable, safe, get solutions, attention and affection, even though conflicts sometimes occur. This study used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with a qualitative approach, namely through interview techniques, FGDs, evaluation, sharing and verbal and non-verbal motivation and recreation. Participants are domiciled in the city of Salatiga consisting of four people, one subject and three peer group members, with the same characteristics of age and sex, having friends for 2 years, having experienced KDP, and knowing the violence experienced by the subject. The results showed that although some social media through WhatsApp group (sharing quotes motivation) each other and members of the peer group experienced KDP, the subjects felt that there was emotional support finding identity, feeling confident, feeling valuable and being accepted. The next recommendation that can be given to the subject therapy for self-recovery or reconciliation with him and his ex-girlfriends such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and relationship restoration
Application of Group Positive Psychotherapy(GPPT) to Increasing Well Being in Women with Systemic Lupus Erithematosus (SLE)
Systemic Lupus Erithematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disorder that can affect almost all organs of the body. SLE is part of the chronic illness disabilities (CID) with the highest number of women reproductive age. Not only the physical affects but also quite disturbing psychological conditions, for example increased negative emotions, depression, and suicidal ideation. Chronic illness disabilities (CID) patients often have low perception of life satisfaction and will affect a person's level of well-being. To achieve the condition of well-being, psychological interventions that can help increase the level of well-being in women with Systemic Lupus Erithematosus are needed. The intervention was a group positive psychotherapy by pleasent life, engaged life and meaning full life. The purpose of this research can help individuals to improve well-being especially for women with Systemic Lupus Erithematosus. In this research, Group Positive Psychotherapy was conducted in 14 sessions with pre-test and post-test. This research is a case study with a single case experimental design. The method used is mixed method with concurrent embedded strategy, using qualitative data as primary and quantitative data as secondary data. The measuring instrument used is The PERMA Profiler with a reliability value of 0,761 compared to Cronbach’s Alpha which is r0,6 reliable. The participants in this study were 3 people. Based on qualitative results indicate that there is an increase in the level of wellbeing in the 3 participants and increasing score in 5 aspects of well-being after intervention
Successful Aging of Elderly People in Low Economic Status Who Are Still Working and it is Related To Daily Activities and Hardiness
Raising the age of life expectancy has its impact on the increasing number of elderly people, and it is expected that they can achieve successful aging including those who are in low economic status and still working. The aim of this quantitative research is to examine the effect of daily activities and hardiness simultaneously toward successful aging of elderly people in low economic status who are still working. The research participants were 120 elderly people who lived in Central Java (Salatiga, Semarang, Surakarta, Magelang, Pekalongan, and Tegal) with the characteristic aged of 60 and over, communicative, and they were willing to be participants. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data was obtained using Daily Activity Scale, Hardiness Scale and Successful Aging Scale. This data was analyzed using statistical techniques of multiple linear regression, with the results of F = 45,329 and a significant value of 0.00 (
Meta-analysis Study of Achievement Motivation and Academic Achievement
Academic achievement becomes something important for students. Academic achievement has a relationship with achievement motivation. Based on the results of a review of the literature, there is an inconsistency in the results of research on the relationship of academic achievement with achievement motivation. Therefore, the author conducted a meta-analyst with a significant effect size correlation with academic achievement (r = 0.334508) and significant with CI (0.170255; 0.480675). The results of the I2 statistical test showed a high inconsistency with a value of 98.7%. There is also high heterogeneity in the results of this meta-analysis with the value of Cohcran Q showing 1,029.604289. The relationship between the two variables also shows the bias by looking at the results of the egger, which is 9.311441. The results of statistical tests show that achievement motivation and academic achievement have a fairly high effect size correlation. The heterogeneity in this meta-analysis is high and there is publication bias
Peterpan Syndrome Phenomenon : Self-Identity Crisis In Forming Intimation In Adult Man
Peter Pan syndrome is inspired by the popular story of a child who has never grown up from a dream land. The term Peter Pan syndrome is given to men who enter adulthood but behave childish characterized by behavior that refuses social responsibility and difficulty forming commitment in interpersonal relationships. Individuals with Peter Pan syndrome are shown as someone loves fun, brave, likes challenges and has a great view of themselves. On the other hand, individual Peter Pan syndrome has a excessive anxiety forming commitment with others. This paper aims to explain the phenomenon of Peter Pan syndrome that occurs in adult men in a psychosocial perspective. The early adulthood is a phase to be responsible for self, others and the environment. In the early adulthood, social demands and pressures create role confusion, uncertainty about the future and anxieties for responsibility. Anxiety facing adult responsibilities is a form of failure in the task phase of adolescent development. Failure to face developmental tasks in adolescence results in role confusion. This assume to be the cause of unpreparedness to face the task of further development in early adulthood
Internalized Homonegativity and Psychological Distress in Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Individuals : Self-compassion as Mediator
Internalized homonegativity has been well documented to associate with psychological distress. Previous studies have found various factors which mediated the relationship between the two variables. The current study aimed to explore other factor which mediates the two variables, namely self-compassion. Participants were lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals who recruited via online survey (N = 55). Data was analyzed using few steps of regression analysis. The results show that internalized homonegativity is not related to psychological distres and self-compassion in current sample. Self-compassion is found to be significantly predict psychological distress (F(1,53) = 25,140, p < 0,01; R2 = 0,322), which affirms previous findings. Results imply that lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals can exercise self-compassion to cope with psychological distress arising from their minority status
