From the beginning of the 19th century, in the context of Italian Romanticism, a new image of Francesca da Rimini took shape, with a moral revision of Dante’s lustful sinner. Her literary figure ignited the interest of the new century’s artists and authors, who progressively gave life to a conspicuous sequence of poetic and theatrical works dedicated to her, among which the tragedy of Silvio Pellico stands out. The character no longer must bear the weight of Dante’s stigma and the subsequent tradition of his exegetes, on the contrary she is perceived as an innocent victim, now congenial to the Italian Risorgimento’s patriotic climate. The essay here presented proposes a critical path in the nineteenth-century dramaturgy that focuses on this figure, with specific regard in the final section to Pellico’s Francesca da Rimini.
The Efficacy of Bibliotherapy in Rehabilitation Context
The aim of the present study was to explore the effectiveness of bibliotherapy in rehabilitation settings. The term bibliotherapy, coined in the 1930’s by the psychiatrist William Menninger, conveys the importance of reading as a tool for cultural promotion and growth, as a means through which to acquire knowledge, enhance one's cognitive and emotional abilities, develop strategies for managing discomfort, as well as a psychoeducational and cognitive technique in the psychotherapeutic field. A study carried out on Pubmed showed that recent research on bibliotherapy, in particular experimental research, would be lacking and requires a humanistic medical approach, drawing on the knowledge and methods of psychology and cognitive literary studies, as well as clinical disciplines to broaden our understanding of how the dynamic processes of interpretation mediate between the textual and characteristic structures of mental health and illness. This narrative review was conducted on PubMed database and used two key terms “Bibliotherapy” AND “rehabilitation” AND “prison”. Studies in line with this specific issue were included. The search of PubMed database provided a total of 470 items recruited online; of these 464 studies were excluded according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. After the screening, a total of 6 studies assessing the bibliotherapy in rehabilitation setting, met the inclusion criteria and were included in the narrative review. Bibliotherapy as a self-help approach also in psychotherapeutic treatments can activate the desire to seek changes in attitudes and behaviour, to acquire knowledge of symptoms, and the value of self-care. A psychological intervention self-administered through ACT bibliotherapy with minimal therapeutic support can improve the physical and emotional functioning of adults with chronic pain. If studies report the efficacy of parent-mediated bibliotherapy in situations of childhood anxiety, nocturnal fears, specific phobias, in adolescence chatbot-delivered self-help depression intervention was proven to be superior to the minimal level of bibliotherapy in terms of reduction on depression and anxiety. Bibliotherapy interventions may be helpful to fight against weight gain and potentially facilitate smoking cessation.

Vittorio Madia and the Legacy of a Compassionate Model for Treating the Criminally Insane
Vittorio Madia (1895-1954) was the director of the Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (Sicily) criminal asylum from 1929 to 1954 and an important figure in the history of Italian psychiatry. He studied Criminal Anthropology and Lombrosian Theory in Naples, which led him to develop a rehabilitation model based on freedom and work and the introduction of Occupational Therapy. His tenure in the asylum was characterised by methodological and organizational precision, vision of the potential of the institute for rehabilitation and treatment, and individual treatment for the inmates; in just a few years, under his direction the criminal asylum in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto became unrivalled for excellence in Italy and was acknowledged as being as well run as similar institutions in the United States of America and in Europe. His son Aldo (1920-2005) worked closely with his father and succeeded him as director of the asylum, continuing his father’s work to further the inmates’ moral and psychic rehabilitation.

This article concerns the preliminary study of Punic materials, attested in the Latin area and datable to the period between the treaties and the Punic wars. A focus will be made on possible imports from the Tunisian and Libyan area, based on the morphology and fabric of the ceramics analysed. One of the aims of this study is to investigate the presence of ‘Punic hostages’, mentioned in the sources between the last decades of the 3rd and the first half of the 2nd century BC, in Rome and Latium. To this end, Punic materials of the same chronology, found in the cities mentioned by Titus Livius and Cornelius Nepos as places of keeping the hostages were considered, such as the cities of Norba, Setia, Signa, Fregellae, and Praeneste. In addition, some material from a period after the destruction of Carthage will be mentioned, such as the amphorae of types T-7.5.3.1. or T-7.5.2.2. as evidence of trade even after the fall of the Punic city. Unpublished contexts, both sacred (such as votive deposits) and inhabited (material from rural settlements and inhabited centers) will be briefly presented in order to synthetically outline the trade network between Rome and Carthage and its changes between the 3rd and the second half of the 2nd century BC.Il presente studio intende esaminare preliminarmente i materiali punici presenti in area latina databili tra il periodo dei trattati e delle guerre tra Roma e Cartagine, soffermandosi, in particolare, sulle possibili importazioni dall’area tunisina e libica, identificabili per morfologia e per impasto.
An epigraphic collection, which has 64 inscriptions, and which comes from several cities in Roman Africa, includes the expressions aere conlato, ex aere collato, collatio or the term synonym pecunia collata informs of a practice management of municipal funds and earlier operations through public subscriptions.Of purely Roman origin and absolutely unknown to the Punics, this practice, totally absent in the Ist century AD, remained without hiatus from 102-117 until the Vth century AD., it reached its peak in the Antonino-Severian period. The practice of public subscriptions is not limited to the erection of statues to the illustrious figures of the cities, but rather to the construction and restoration of public monuments.
Abstract: This research deals with the modes of chert exploitation in Sardinia during the Middle Neolithic B, combining information on major chert sources identified across the island with the technological analysis of the lithic assemblage of the Su Molinu Mannu open-air site, that exhibits a very high proportion of obsidian implements with a considerable number of chert elements.Résumé.

The royal porphyry tombs of Palermo Cathedral, housed in the southern transept of the church from the 13th to the 18thcentury, have consistently been the object of extraordinary critical fortune. Conversely, the episcopal cemetery – set in the northern transept until the 18th century restorations – has not been properly studied so far. After its dismantlement and the relocation of its tombs in the so-called crypt of the church, just a couple of 19th century scholars have devoted their pages to the theme, whereas the ancient marble sarcophagi reused as medieval and modern tombs have aroused more interest. Taking advantage of published and unpublished sources, this paper presents both new observations regarding the medieval sepulchres of the episcopal cemetery and a few hypotheses about the rationale underlying the order of the tombs in the transept and about the moment such an arrangement may have been conceived.
If every fictional text, as Eco wrote in Lector in Fabula, creates a fictional world, creating worlds is structurally intrinsic to Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. My contribution will focus on Science Fiction worldbuilding from a semiotic point of view, with particular reference to studies on possible narrative worlds (Eco, Ryan, Dolezel). Firstly, I will briefly summarize some key aspects of the theory of possible worlds with regard to the Science Fiction genre; on this basis, I will outline a definition of Science Fiction worlds before investigating their nature more throughly. Finally, an analysis of Arthur C. Clarke’s classic sci-fi novel The City and the Stars will reveal the importance of spatial organization in the construction of science-fiction worlds, considered as bearer of the deep meaning that structures fantastic worlds.
