«Tempus fugit»: l'eredità dei proverbi latini nell'italiano contemporaneo. L'indagine su CORIS e i risultati di un questionario
Get PDFThis study examines the use and features of Latin proverbs in contemporary Italian, focusing on their semantic and formal evolution as well as their integration into the syntactic contexts of the Italian language. Beginning with a definition of the concept of a proverb and its core characteristics, the research analyzes data from the CORIS corpus to explore the frequency of Latin proverb usage – both in absolute terms and in relation to different textual genres within the corpus and the historical period. Close attention is given to the strategies employed for incorporating Latin proverbs into Italian sentences, as well as any modifications made to the original formulations of the proverbs. Additionally, a questionnaire investigates Italian speakers’ familiarity with Latin proverbs, distinguishing between written and spoken contexts while considering the respondents’ level of proficiency in Latin. The findings highlight the relevance and adaptability of Latin proverbs, which continue to serve as valuable tools for narrating and reflecting on diverse experiences of everyday life.La presente ricerca intende analizzare l’uso e le caratteristiche dei proverbi latini nell’italiano contemporaneo, investigandone l’evoluzione semantica e formale nonché la loro integrazione nei contesti sintattici della lingua italiana. Dopo avere definito il concetto di proverbio e le sue principali proprietà, un’indagine sul corpus CORIS si propone di analizzare le frequenze d’uso dei proverbi latini, sia in termini assoluti sia tenendo conto delle differenti tipologie testuali del corpus e il periodo storico in esame. Sono inoltre osservate con attenzione le differenti strategie adottate per l’inserimento del proverbio latino nelle frasi italiane e le eventuali modifiche apportate al proverbio rispetto alla sua formulazione originale. Successivamente, un questionario esplora la conoscenza e l’utilizzo dei detti proverbiali latini da parte di parlanti italiani, distinguendo tra contesti scritti e orali e considerando il grado di competenza in latino dei rispondenti. I risultati evidenziano la vitalità e la versatilità del proverbio latino, ancora oggi prezioso strumento per il racconto e il commento delle più varie esperienze della vita quotidiana

Get PDFIn the work of José Ortega y Gasset, the conceptualization of the relationship between conflict and consent represents a point of convergence between the sociological analysis of social coexistence, reflection on power, and the philosophy of history. The underlying assumption is that Ortega’s political theory cannot be understood if isolated from its sociological premises: the political dimension does not constitute an autonomous sphere of meaning but rather the institutional expression of deeper social processes, rooted in the structure of coexistence and in the system of shared beliefs. From this perspective, consent does not coincide with a procedural or contractarian agreement, but refers instead to a more fundamental level of collective life—that of the basic beliefs that orient action and ground the legitimacy of authority. Public opinion is thus interpreted as the true constitutive principle of the state, insofar as it is the repository of the common convictions that justify political obligation.Nell’opera di José Ortega y Gasset la concettualizzazione del rapporto tra conflitto e consenso rappresenta il punto di incontro fra analisi sociologica della convivenza, riflessione sul potere e filosofia della storia. L’ipotesi di fondo è che la teoria politica orteghiana non sia comprensibile se isolata dai suoi presupposti sociologici: la dimensione politica, infatti, non rappresenta un ambito autonomo di significati ma l’espressione istituzionale di processi sociali più profondi, legati alla struttura della convivenza e al sistema delle credenze condivise. In questa prospettiva, il consenso non coincide con un accordo procedurale o di tipo contrattualistico, ma rinvia a un livello più profondo della vita collettiva: quello delle credenze fondamentali che orientano l’azione e fondano la legittimità dell’autorità. L’opinione pubblica è così interpretata come il vero principio costitutivo dello stato, in quanto depositaria delle convinzioni comuni che giustificano l’obbligazione politica
