We are well aware that each transposition is an independent work, that the principle of fidelity to the source of origin has been passed for a while. But taking a free hand does not always mean to follow a truly free inspiration. In the Netflix series The Leopard, based on the novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s, freedom turns out to be deceptive: on the surface unbridled, in fact bound by hegemonic trends of thought and taste. It is worth examining this issue in depth, as we try to do through the following papers: Clotilde Bertoni analyzes the series’ adherence to the most widespread vision of the novel, and its adaptation to the standards of political correctness; Giulia Carluccio, starting from the episode set in Turin, considers its relationship with the novel, with Luchino Visconti’s film based on it, and with the broader imagery superimposed on them; Stefania Rimini connects it to the recurring features of the current period dramas, then focusing on its representation of environments and landscapes. We are well aware that each transposition is an independent work, that the principle of fidelity to the source of origin has been passed for a while. Periferie esistenziali. L’innovazione artistica del flusso di coscienza
Through a collection from the University of Turin, composed of works created by psychiatric patients between the 19th and 20th centuries, it traces the history of « asylum » artistic productions that evolved from objects of scientific interest to sources of inspiration for 20th-century artistic and literary movements such as Surrealism and Modernism, attracted by the creativity of the « mad ». Hans Prinzhorn, with his book Bildnerei der Geisteskranken (1922) influenced figures like André Breton and Jean Dubuffet: the latter coined the term Art Brut in 1945 to describe the spontaneous art of the marginalized, now recognized internationally. This heritage, often considered « peripheral », has gained recognition thanks to curators like Roger Cardinal and Bianca Tosatti; currently, the interest in these artistic expressions is reflected in mainstream events like the Venice Biennale, which has highlighted outsider artists, showcasing the relevance of these works in the contemporary socio-political and cultural context.
This paper examines select passages from De Oratore and Cicero’s post reditum speeches using pragmatic and politeness theories. By applying these analytical tools to Cicero’s rhetorical and oratorical works, we can re-evaluate the rules for the ideal orator and the expressive strategies present in the speeches that have come down to us. Rhetorical treatises, indeed, set out the linguistic norms that govern interactions in public contexts where codified conflict takes place and provide guidelines on the correct way to formulate linguistic acts – even potentially aggressive ones – permitted within those contexts. In concrete communicative exchanges, speakers are primarily influenced by the need to conform to the expected linguistic behaviour dictated by the public arenas of the Roman Republic. Only subsequently, they must balance personal objectives: engaging the audience emotionally without causing unintended offense, maintaining their own dignitas, and strategically attacking that of the opponents, when necessary.
The contribution intends to illustrate the research carried out within the Learning Technologies laboratories of the training courses for the specialisation of support teachers for pupils with disabilities or Special Educational Needs (BES). The research is part of a first action of a Research Project of National Interest (PRIN) on the characteristics of the inclusive teacher, and involving the Universities of Sassari, Parma and Verona, sought to investigate the impact that IAg can have in the educational process. The methodology used is the administration of a questionnaire to a sample of 263 teachers in training to sound out their opinions on the effectiveness of using IAg as a support for students with disabilities and BES on the inclusive processes implemented in their favour. The results of this survey highlight the strengths and weaknesses of AIg in the teaching and learning process of children who have the most difficulties in schoolIl contributo intende illustrare la ricerca svolta all’interno dei laboratori di Tecnologie dell’Apprendimento dei corsi di formazione per la specializzazione dei docenti di sostegno agli alunni con disabilità o Bisogni Educativi Speciali (BES).
Reclaiming Rage as Utopian Force: Exploring a Latin American Ecodystopia
Long dismissed as irrational and destructive, rage emerges in the context of contemporary social and environmental crises as a vehicle of resistance and a catalyst for transformation. This paper explores the role of rage as a collective utopian force in Michel Nieva’s La infancia del mundo (2023), focusing on the character of the dengue child. Initially marginalized, silenced, and reduced to a discarded being, the dengue child represents a figure of social exclusion and systemic violence. The narrative traces the character’s journey from passivity and vulnerability to self-determined agency and a radical redefinition of their identity. In contrast to the dominant forms of violence that uphold power structures, the dengue child’s rage manifests as a counter-hegemonic force — an anarchic and collective rebellion against established norms. This paper emphasizes that, far from being destructive, rage holds the potential to reconfigure societal and environmental relations by offering a critique of the technocapitalist order and opening the door to alternative political imaginaries
In the face of the ecological crisis and the alleged inability of contemporary literature to represent the major disruptions of the Anthropocene, science fiction, in its cli-fi (climate fiction) variant, is often regarded as the narrative genre best suited for addressing the challenges of climate change. This article proposes a shift in perspective by exploring the narrative potential of the fairy tale in contemporary Italian literature. Through the works of Laura Pugno (Sirene, Melusina) and Laura Pariani (La valle delle donne lupo, Apriti, mare!), the text highlights the central role of metamorphic female figures (sirens, she-wolves, and melusines) in shaping an ecological imaginary that can destabilize modern dichotomies between human and non-human, nature and culture. This imagery also redefines our relationship with the living and non-living worlds. In the face of the ecological crisis and the alleged inability of contemporary literature to represent the major disruptions of the Anthropocene, science fiction, in its cli-fi (climate fiction) variant, is often regarded as the narrative genre best suited for addressing the challenges of climate change.
