    The Effectiveness of Great Morinda Extract toMortality of Plutella Xylostella L. on Green Mustard Hasnah dan NasrilFakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda AcehABSTRACT One of the pests frequently attacking mustard greens is Plutella xylostella. Resulted damage can be up to 58-100% if control is not immediately done, especially in the dry season. The objective of this research was to obtain a effective concentration of great morinda extracts for controlling P. xylostella on mustard green. This research was conducted in Experimental Farm and Laboratory of Plant Pests and Diseases Department at the Faculty of Agriculture Unsyiah Darussalam Banda Aceh. The results showed that application of great morinda was effective to control P. xylostella. Mortality of 100% larva was recorded at 3 days after application of great morinda extract in the concentration of 150ml L-1 solution and this was equivalent to 1 ml L-1 of methrin delta solution, and that the percentage of pupa and imago was 0%. The intensity of damage to plant leaf of mustard greens was only 15.47% in the application of 150 ml L-1 of great morinda. It can be concluded that the concentration of 150ml L-1 solution of great morinda fruit extracts was effective for controlling P. xylostella and that was equivalent to 1 ml L-1 of methrin delta solution

    Effect of Gandasil D Fertilizer and Harmonic Growth Regulator on Growth and Yield of Egg PlantJumini dan Ainun MarliahFakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda AcehABSTRACTThe aim of this research was to study effect of Gandasil D fertilizer concentration and Harmonik growth regulator on growth and yield of egg plants. Experimental design used was a factorial 3 x 4 with three replications. The two factors investigated were Gandasil D concentration (0 g/l, 2 g/l and 4 g/l of water), and Harmonik growth regulator concentration (0 cc/l, 1 cc/l, 2 cc/l and 3 cc/l of water). Results showed that Gandasil D fertilizer concentration significantly affected length of egg plants and its biomass. The best result of Gandasil D fertilizer was at concentration of 2 g/ l of water. Growth regulator agent concentration showed significant effects on plant height of 30 days and 60 days. The best concentration was 3 cc/ l of water. There was a correlation between Gandasil D fertilizer concentration and Harmonik growth regulator on diameter and length of egg plant

In addition, this study was also to determine whether the provision of compost can increase effectiveness of urea fertilizer for seedling growth of betel palm. Results of research showed that compost significantly affected seedling growth of betel palm. The best dosage of compost for the seedling growth was 1.5 kg per seedling. Urea fertilizer also significantly affected seedling growth of betel palm. The best dosage of urea for the seedling growth was 1.5 g per seedling. There were no significant interactions in most variables of seedling growth observed

    Effect of Water Stress at Two Types of Soil on Growth and Yield of Soybean (Glycine max (L.) MERRIL)NurhayatiFakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Darussalam Banda Aceh ABSTRACT This study was aimed at determining effect of water stress maintained at 100, 80, 60, and 40% of field capacity in ordo Entisol and Ultisol on growth and yield of soybean. Experimental design used was a completely randomized design, 4 x 2 with three replicates. Results showed that water stress significantly affected all components of growth and yield of soybean, as well as amount of cumulative water need of soybean at plant ages of 8 - 95 days. Soil type also significantly affected all components of growth and yield of soybean, as well as amount of cumulative water need of soybean, except root length. The best growth and yield of soybean was found at ordo Entisol. There was a highly significant interaction of all components of soybean growths and yields, except plant height at the age of 15 and 30 days after planting. Soybean was still capable of producing high yield at the range of water stress 60% - 80% of field capacity in ordo Entisol, whereas in ordo Ultisol at the same circumstance, the soybean was not capable of maintaining the yield

Results showed that content of lauric acid and myristic acid of young coconut were lower than those of mature coconut. Medium Chain Glycerides (MCT) C8 of young coconut was also lower than that of mature coconut. Coconut oil rate of mature and young coconut at this study was 131,80 %

    Preference of Rat (Rattus argentiventer) to Kinds of Baits on Rice CropAlfian Rusdy dan Irvandra FatmalJurusan HPT Fakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Kuala Banda AcehABSTRACTThe purpose of this research was to identify preference of rats to several kinds of foods. This research was conducted at rice field at Aneuk Glee Village, sub district of Indrapuri, district of Aceh Besar. This research used Randomized Block Design non factorial, consisting of 6 treatments. They were unhulled paddy, rice, split rice, corn, split corn and corn powder. The treatment was repeated 4 times. The variables observed were percentage of damage plant, trapped rats, and ratio of male rat to female rat. The result of this research showed that preference of the rat was significantly affected by kinds of food. Among the treatments, unhulled paddy was the most preferred. However, at percentage of damage plant, the rats preferred rice to other baits. The ratio of rats trapped was high at male rats. This proved that male rats in addition to getting the food were looking for their pairs, because female rats stayed more in the pit for feeding activity

    Response of shoot of cactus (Mammillaria myriacantha) to various concentrations of NAA and BAP in VitroMardhiah HayatiFakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Darussalam Banda AcehABSTRACTThe research was arranged in a factorial completely randomized design 3 x 3 with 5 replicates. Factors evaluated were concentration of NAA (0, 2, 4 mgl-1), and concentration of BAP (0, 3, 6 mgl-1). Variables observed were initiation time, shoot numbers, shoot height, root number at 2 and 4 weeks after culturing (WAC) and life percentage, dead percentage, contamination percentage. The results showed that NAA significantly affected initiation time and shoot numbers at 4 WAC. The best initiation time was found at concentration of NAA 4 mgl-1 and the best shoot numbers was found at concentration of NAA 2 dan 4 mgl-1. BAP had significant effect on shoot number 4 WAC, shoot height 2 WAC, and root numbers at 2 and 4 WAC. The best shoot numbers and shoot height were found at BAP 3 mgl-1 but did not significantly differ from BAP 6 mgl-1. The best root numbers, however, was at no BAP. There was no significant interaction between both factors

    Effect of IAA and BAP on Growth of Patchouli (Pogestemon cablin Benth) In VitroMuhammad Hatta, Mardhiah Hayati dan Ulfa IrayaniFakultas Pertanian Unsyiah Darussalam Banda AcehABSTRACTThe research was aimed at understanding response of patchouli growth in vitro to concentration of IAA and BAP, and looking at interaction between both treatments. The experiment was arranged in a factorial randomized complete block design (RCBD) 2 x 6 with 5 replicates. Factors investigated were concentration of IAA (0 dan 1 mgl-1) and concentration of BAP (0.0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.6, 3.2 dan 6.4 mgl-1). Variables observed were shoot numbers, shoot height, and leaf numbers at 8 weeks after culturing. The results showed that there was interaction between IAA and BAP on leaf numbers of plantlet at 8 weeks after culturing, where the presence of IAA in the medium caused BAP to exert negative effect on lef formation. On shoot numbers and shoot height, the concentration of IAA and BAP did not exert any effect

    Functional Response of Parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum on egg-host Corcyra cephalonica: The Effects of Egg-host Density and TemperatureSapdiJurusan HPT Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Syiah Kuala Banda AcehABSTRACT A laboratory study has been conducted to investigate the functional response of parasitoid Trichogramma pretiosum on egg-host, Corcyra cephalonica. The treatments were egg-host density (5, 10, 15, 30, and 60 eggs per pias) and temperature (18 oC, 25oC, and room temperature). The eggs of host were exposed to the parasitoid for 24 hours at the temperature tested. Then, the parasited eggs were reared at room temperature until they were darkened. The number of parasitized eggs was observed. The result of the study showed that the type of functional response of T. pretiosum on eggs of C. Cephalonica was type II. The percentage of parasitization increased with the increase of egg-host density and temperature tested

    Optimization of Three Sata Formulation on Indonesian, Malayan, and Chinese through Sensory EvaluationRita HayatiFakultas Pertanian Unsyiah, Nanggroe Aceh DarussalamABSTRACTResult of the study showed that optimum region for sata production using boiled tuna fish, katsoubushi and surimi were 36-40%, 39-85% and 0-12%, respectively. Three formulations were selected for validation study. Two formulation were from acceptance region (F1=0.37 of boiled fish, 0.46 katsoubushi, 0.17 surimi, F2 =0.37 of boiled fish, 0.40 katsoubushi, 0.22 surimi), and one formulation from rejection region (F3 =12.5 of boiled fish, 75 katsoubushi, and 12.5 surimi). The validation of the three optimum points using sensory evaluation showed that formulation F1 was most acceptable followed by F2 and F3. There was significant difference (P0.05) between F1 and F2 when compared to F3, thus model equation was able to predict the optimum points
