Get PDFThis article analyses the processes of revitalization of "ancestral authorities" in the Ixil Region (Guatemala), which from the protests against a transnational energy project culminated in the creation of the B'oq'ol Q'esal Tenam of Chajul, Nebaj, and Cotzal. Recognized by the Constitutional Court in 2015, the B'oq'ol Q'esal Tenam emerge in a complex and fragmented reality, using the interstitial spaces of neoliberal policies to contest them and give rise to alternative forms of decentralization to those proposed by the national political and institutional system.L’articolo analizza i processi di rivitalizzazione delle “autorità ancestrali” nella Regione Ixil (Guatemala), che dalle proteste contro una multinazionale energetica sono culminati nella nascita dei B’oq’ol Q’esal Tenam (Alcaldías Indígenas). Riconosciuti da una sentenza della Corte costituzionale nel 2015, i B’oq’ol Q’esal Tenam emergono in una realtà complessa e frammentata, sfruttando gli spazi interstiziali delle politiche neoliberali per contestarle e dare vita a forme di decentralizzazione alternative a quelle proposte dal sistema politico e istituzionale nazionale

Get PDFThis article discusses how national women’s policy agencies were being structured in Brazil in the period immediately before the 2016 coup. Based on interviews with feminist activists and state managers and ethnographic work carried out during the 3rd and 4th National Conferences on Public Policies for Women, it addresses that political agreements, alliances and coalitions in the name of governance overlapped the possibilities created by the participatory spaces of encounters between feminisms and State, undermining a progressive agenda while strengthening and consolidate retrograde forces.Este artigo discorre sobre como estavam sendo estruturados os mecanismos nacionais de políticas para mulheres no Brasil no período imediatamente anterior ao golpe de 2016. Com base em entrevistas a gestoras e ativistas feministas e trabalho etnográfico realizado durante as 3ª e 4ª Conferências Nacionais de Políticas para as Mulheres, demonstra-se que acordos e alianças políticas articuladas em nome da governabilidade sobrepuseram-se às possibilidades criadas pelos espaços participativos e encontros entre feminismos e Estado, debilitando uma agenda possivelmente progressista enquanto se fortaleciam e consolidavam posturas retrogradas

Get PDFThe paper discusses the relation between the democratization of access to public universities and the budget cuts in this sector announced by Bolsonaro’s Government. We conducted a dialogical speech analysis of four posters wielded during the protests against the cuts, focusing on the enunciates regarding the entry and presence of students from lower classes, blacks and indigenous people in higher education. The posters reveal the impact of the admission of the latter, affirm their presence, demand permanence and indicate how the democratization of education is a danger for the current government.O artigo discute a relação entre a democratização do acesso às universidades públicas e os cortes orçamentários neste setor anunciados pelo Governo Bolsonaro. Realizamos uma análise dialógica do discurso de quatro cartazes empunhados durante os protestos contra os cortes, focalizando os enunciados referentes ao ingresso e presença de estudantes de camadas populares, negros/as e indígenas no ensino superior. Estes/as, com os cartazes, desvelam o impacto do ingresso, afirmam presenças, demandam permanência e indicam como a democratização da educação é um perigo para o atual governo
La maquiladora tra neoliberismo e nazionalismo messicano (1964-1988)
Get PDFThe article analyzes the historical context and the characteristics of the Mexican industries known as maquiladora, in the border zone between Mexico and USA. Mexican and US secondary sources are employed to analyze the historiographical debate on the topic. The essay shows that neoliberalism is the outcome of convergent logics and of various scales in which entrepreneurs of the Mexican norte have employed nationalism as driver for changing the maquiladora’s regional economic model into a global mode of production.L’articolo analizza il contesto storico e le caratteristiche delle industrie messicane note come maquiladora, nello spazio di frontiera tra Messico e Stati Uniti. Si utilizzano prevalentemente fonti secondarie, sia messicane sia statunitensi per analizzare il dibattito storiografico sul tema. Il saggio dimostra che il neoliberalismo si presenta come l’esito di logiche convergenti e di varie scale spaziali in cui gli imprenditori del norte messicano hanno utilizzato il nazionalismo come veicolo per trasformare il modello economico regionale della maquiladora in un modo di produzione globale

Get PDFIn this article, I approach politics not as doctrines and ideologies, but as a succession of conflicts and performances, in which each moment is full of particular virtualities. The point of view adopted is that of the frontier, expressed on a local, national and global scale. The comparison between the current situation and the military dictatorship (1964-1985) runs through the entire text, where I describe the illegal policies and practices that accompany the official reopening of the frontier, also analyzing the contradictions that condition the possibility of its continuity.Neste artigo abordo o governo Bolsonaro (2019-2021) não como resultante apenas de doutrinas e ideologias, mas enquanto disputa por recursos e performances, cada momento sendo portador de uma virtualidade singular. O ponto de vista adotado é o da fronteira, que se expressa igualmente na escala local, nacional e global. A comparação entre a conjuntura atual e a ditadura militar (1964-1985) atravessa todo o texto, onde descrevo as políticas e práticas ilegais que acompanham a reabertura oficial da fronteira, analisando também as contradições que envolvem a possibilidade de sua continuidade

Get PDFThis article aims to analyze the concept of neo-baroque and its various expressions in the work “Do Amor e Outros Demônios”, written by Colombian Gabriel García Márquez. This analysis follows the theoretical conceptions of Cuban authors, Lezama Lima, Alejo Carpentier and Severo Sarduy, mainly related to what they discuss about American baroque and its expression in the boom literature. In addition, it has the theoretical support of the marvelous real, which means the description of Latin America unusual, a series of ordinary events the calls into question European rationalism.Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar o conceito de neobarroco e suas diversas manifestações na obra “Do Amor e Outros Demônios” de Gabriel García Márquez. Tal análise seguirá as concepções teóricas dos cubanos, Lezama Lima, Alejo Carpentier e Severo Sarduy, principalmente naquilo que eles discutem sobre o barroquismo americano e sua manifestação na literatura do boom. Starting from the rediscovery of the Modernist Manifesto Antropófago and the work of Oswald de Andrade, this article aims to describe the trajectory of the several uses of Anthropophagy in Brazilian culture, art, critic and literature, also trying to reconstruct the critical success it had and focusing on the new meanings that have been acquired in the last fifteen years. The article shows the transformation of this metaphor-theory-concept, from Brazilian anticolonial paradigm to exemplary model of construction of new globalized subjectivities.Revisão sobre a Antropofagia oswaldiana. Começando com a redescoberta do Manifesto Antropófago modernista e da obra de Oswald de Andrade, realizada por Haroldo de Campos nos anos 50, este artigo pretende descrever a trajetória dos múltiplos usos da Antropofagia na cultura brasileira, em campos artísticos, críticos e literários e reconstruir a enorme fortuna crítica que teve, focando nos novos significados que assumiu nos últimos quinze anos.
Através desta reconstrução, o artigo analisa a transformação desta metáfora-teoria-conceito, de paradigma anticolonial brasileiro para exemplar modelo de construção de novas subjetividades globalizadas

Get PDFA causa de la preocupación por la posibilidad de cremación de cuerpos por el incremento del número de muertes por Covid-19, algunas asociaciones de religiones afrobrasileñas han reclamado el derecho de entierro de los miembros del Candomblé. Los rituales funerarios facilitan el paso de los muertos al mundo espiritual y su reintegración en la sociedad como antepasados, y devuelven a la tierra la materia con la que se formó la persona. Esta preocupación por la muerte es, por lo tanto, una preocupación por la vida y la naturaleza, reafirmando el principio de interconexión entre todos los seres y de circularidad de la existencia.Concerned about the possibility of cremation of bodies because of the increase in the number of deaths by Covid-19, some associations of Afro-Brazilian religions have claimed the right to burial of Candomblé members. Funeral rituals facilitate the passage of the dead to the spiritual world and his or her reintegration into society as an ancestor, and returns the matter with which the the person was formed to the earth. This concern for death is, therefore, a concern for life and nature and reaffirms the principle of interconnection among all beings and of circularity of existence
