    DISASTER COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT PUSDALOPS PB SLEMAN IN DISASTER INFORMATION COORDINATION

    The purpose of this study was to analyze disaster communication management activities carried out by the Sleman Emergency Operation Center in coordinating disaster information and identifying information coordination that occurred between Kab. Sleman, community, and non-governmental organizations @merapi_news. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Data search is done by in-depth interviews with parties involved in the disaster management process, namely Supervisors, Operators of PB Emergency Operations District. Sleman, the private organization @Merapi_news, and the Sleman community. The results of the study showed that the Sleman Emergency Operation Center was still not maximal in the implementation of the disaster communication management process. The lack of coordination of information that causes miss communication and distribution of disaster information to the community is often too late, the use of Instagram social media is not optimal by the Sleman Emergency Operation Center, and mitigation needs to be done simultaneously both BPBD and Pusdalops to shape the attitudes and knowledge of the community and implementing officers in disaster management

    THE INFLUENCE OF INSTAGRAM ARTIST AS ENDORSER ON THE INTEREST IN PURCHASING MAYBELLINE PRODUCTS (Study on @sarahayuh_ Instagram Account Followers)

    followers on Instagram (brand endorser). @sarahayuh_ was one of the Maybelline product endorsers who were considered to be aligning themselves with the image of the product to increase consumer purchasing power. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of interest rate as the endorser of the appeal of the level of interest in purchasing Maybelline products on the @sarahayuh_’s Instagram account followers. This research method was a survey research. The population in this study was all the followers of @ sarahayuh_’s Instagram account with the sample numbers of 100 followers. The data analysis techniques used were product moment correlation analysis and simple linear regression analysis. The hypothesis in this research that there was positive influence and significant level of appeal as program endorser to the level of Maybelline products buying interest (Studies on @sarahayuh_’s Instagram Account Followers). The result of product moment correlation analysis obtained correlation coefficient value of 0.752, which means a positive and attraction significant of Instagram artist (instagram @ sarahayuh_) as endorser with interest in purchasing Maybelline products. Based on the regression analysis, it was found that interest in purchasing Maybelline products can be explained by the attraction of Instagram artist (Instagram @sarahayuh_) as an endorser, of 56.6%

    TELEVISION AND WOMEN POLITICIAN (A Study About Representation, Women Appraisal and the Idea of Women Representation in Parliament Legislative Election 2009 on Television)

    Television plays an important role in shaping social cognition including in political domain. Television can construct social reality in line to its own interest that was playing for women politician to get good impression in political contestation for parliament election 2009. Correlation between television as one of mass media and woman politician was an important thing to describe a multifaceted of coordination and joint action to pursue a properly position for woman politician for parliament 2009. For these intentions, this research was done and executed in Gajahan, Pasar Kliwon Surakarta. Media technique and analysis were implemented here to reveal media tendencies for women politician in legislative election 2009. The results showed that television was still rarely describing women politician properly. Television just aired a few for women politician except celebrities that involve the contestation.

    GENDER COMMUNICATION STRATEGY IN INDONESIA

    Reformation began in 1998, since then, the issue of women\u27s quota in the legislature has surfaced. This issue was successfully established into a political policy that accommodates affirmative action for women in parliament. Quota policies that contain at least 30% of women\u27s representation apply to the number of delegates, candidates, and officials. The purpose of this policy is to ensure the implementation of rules that pro to women. Nevertheless, still 30% quota has not been fully fulfilled. Some region in Indonesia show different development. This research was conducted in Minahasa, it has the largest number of women representatives of legislative members in Indonesia and in Wonosobo with the least number of women representatives in the legislature in Indonesia. This research uses experimental method and qualitative analysis. Experiments were conducted to find out how respondents rated female politicians and male politicians. The results of the experiment were further investigated with in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. Research shows that male respondents perceive male politics as more capable than female politicians. Meanwhile, female respondents also see male politicians more competent. This is in line with the stereotyping gender theory. Women politicians who have good political communication skills have the opportunity to be elected in political circles. The social structure also affects women\u27s election as politicians. In Wonosobo, it is known that religious groups do not approve of women becoming legislators

    THE ROLE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING ON POLITICAL CONSIOUSNESS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN LOWER NORTHEASTERN REGION, THAILAND

    This research aims to investigate the behavior of social networking in receiving political information and involving in politics of the university students in lower northeastern region and to examine the relationship of the reflection after receiving information through the social networking and the democratic and power-oriented consciousness of the respondents. The effect of the political consciousness on political involvement and monitoring of politician’s work through the social networking are also the focus of the study. The research used a mixed-method of quantitative and qualitative approaches. A focus group was employed in the qualitative data collection from which 21 samples including chairman of the student were selected. The qualitative collected data were analyzed in order to that the results could be used to base the survey questionnaire. The questionnaire was then utilized to collect the quantitative data from 427 sampled students in eight universities. The statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation, and multiple regressions analysis were employed in data analysis. Receiving political information three to four times a week is found in mean frequency of the respondents. The behavior of the information recipients found not to voice their opinions and not to pass on the received information to other people on Facebook or other social networking is very close in proportion to those sharing their views and passing on the information to friends on the social networking. Only getting interested but not wanting to get involved in politics is the main reason of the samples. The reflection after receiving information results in most respondents saying they are able to understand, analyze, and identify facts of the received messages. And the ability in identifying of facts is related to the respondent’s democratic consciousness while the inability in identifying of facts is relevant to the power-orientation. Hypothesis test indicates the democratic consciousness having relationship with the positive effect of political involvement and monitoring of politician’s work whereas the power-oriented consciousness is found to be opposite in thatthe more the consciousness found to be power-oriented the less tendency to get involved in politics and monitoring of politician’s work of the respondents exists

    REPRESENTATION OF BEAUTY ON INDONESIAN TEENAGERS’ TELEVISION DRAMA SERIES

    This study explores ideal beauty concept represented in the teenagers’ television drama series in Indonesia. Analyzing the female characters of drama series that were broadcast in 2010-201 as a pilot study, this research finds that certain body images dominate the television screens: majority of actors are thin, young, have fair skin and long hair. Most of them are portrayed as super feminin girls. Actors with Western Indonesian features are consisted of majority of drama population, followed by Eastern Asian and Caucasian, while the Eastern Indonesians are underservised. Brain is not a prominent feature, but kindness is highly appreciated.     Indonesia consist of many tribes which have variety of difference culture, Thus, Indonesian is usually called as multiethnic tribe. Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) noticed Indonesia has 1128 tribes with 746 local dialects which spread in 13.000 islands from Sabang to Merauke in 2011. Yogyakarta is usually called as mini Indonesia. Various comers both domestic also foreigner go into Yogyakarta. Therefore, this observation would see how’s individual with variety of ethincal background and interaction experiences gave the meaning of ethnical difference. This research used Symbolic Interaction. Theory, Identity Theory, Social Identity Theory and Communication Theory of Identity. Present research establish with sets of interview and observation on newcomers in Yogyakarta those are Batak, Sunda, NTT, Papua and China ethnics. The result described that : Indentity based on tribes ethnic is the most powerfull indentity compared to identity based on another ethnic. Ethnic identity formed powerful in family and environment which is teach certain values. New comer ethnic identity in Yogyakarta is more powerful because they live in new comer communities in same ethnic. New comers in Yogyakarta got meaning ethnic difference dominantly, i.e. as nation uniqueness and properties which is differentiate Indonesian from others. However, this situation makes Indonesia troubled with inter-ethnic conflict. New comers in Yogyakarta which is came from various ethnic being felt discriminatively yet. They are new comers from ethnic which is extremely different from physical, instance: skin color, hair type and physical posture. No one of new comers in Yogyakarta which is relatively similar with most ethnic or tribe in Indonesia feels discriminative. New Comers in Yogyakarta appraise that majority domination ethnic is Javanese which is dominate in economy and administration aspect

This study aims to know the picture of the news frame. This research uses framing analysis method developed by Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. Framing is an approach to know how the viewpoints used by journalists. There are four devices in the framing analysis model, ie, syntax (facts), scripts (themed facts), thematic (facts written), and rhetorical (emphasizing facts).     BUYING CONTACT LENSES ONLINE: AN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ PERSPECTIVE

    The phenomenon of students wearing contact lenses in universities has become a trend as they want to look different from their normal appearance. The prices of contact lenses in optometrists are quite expensive. Therefore, as students with limited source of income, they will try to find another alternative to get the contact lenses at a lesser price. One of the solutions is to purchase contact lenses from online retailers. Thus, by using the Theory of Planned Behaviour by Ajzen, this study was carried out to identify students’ perception in buying contact lenses online. Data was collected by using a questionnaire from 119 undergraduate students. The findings indicated that students have high intention to purchase contact lenses online and mostly are influenced by friends and the mass media

    ORGANIZATIONAL COMMUNICATION PATTERN OF GARDA DEPAN PT. ASELI DAGADU DJOKDJA IN INHERITING CORPORATE CULTURE

    PT. Aseli Dagadu Djokdja is a Yogyakarta based alternative souvenir provider that has the slogan "Smart, Smile, Djokdja". Jogja\u27s distinctive culture which is represented through various aspects makes PT. Aseli Dagadu Djokdja collaborates with the younger generation of future movers to work part-time as the leading service forces or known as Garda Depan. This study aims to determine the communication organization patterns formed on Garda Depan in passing on the corporate culture. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method by conducting in-depth interviews and observations as sources of research data, and using data triangulation techniques to test the validity of the data obtained. Garda Depan’s Program, which is one form of corporate social responsibility, lasts 8-12 months. With this personnel change cycle, the company implemented a training curriculum for candidates of Garda Depan to be able to pass on the various corporate cultures that exist in Dagadu. Through indoor training and internship at the recruitment stage, as well as 4an, sharing bulanan and internalan, there is an effort to inherit the culture from the company to the Garda Depan. Through organizational information theory, researchers found that communication patterns that occur are two-way by applying upward, downward, and horizontal communication. However, in its implementation there are obstacles in the form of language differences, seniority and the short duration of the internship. Althought that happens, it doesn’t reduce the process of developing relationships in Garda Depan who initially do not know each other to become a family with the whole of company
