Nilai Manfaat Total Gerhan di Sub DAS Tirto Jawa Tengah
One effort in improving productivity and regaining the function of forest and land which have been degraded is national movement on forest and land rehabilitation (Gerhan). This movement constitutes an investment. In general, an investment should always involve the expectation for obtaining benefit/profit, either directly or indirectly. The objective of this research was to estimate the magnitude of total benefits value resulting from Gerhan in Sub Watershed of Tirto located in Central Java Province. Benefits value was calculated by using market price approach, replacement cost, procurement cost, and contingency valuation methods. Economic value which was calculated consisted of direct use value, indirect use value, and non use value (option value and existence value). From rehabilitated land, as large as 1,463 ha (planting year 2003–2008) in the Tirto sub watershed, the present worth total economic value resulted from was Rp331,223,929,621 with analysis period of 15 years (cutting cycle of woody crop) at interest rate of 15% or Rp15,093,367 ha-1 year-1. Such value consisted of direct use value 92.21%, indirect use value of 6.64%, and non use value of 1.15%. These benefit value was calculated on the basis of planting success rate, namely 88% for woody crops and 85% for multi purpose tree species
K ajian Perolehan Karbon sebagai Dampak Intervensi
This study was carried out as one part of comprehensive research project aimed to increase sustainable management of forests and peatlands in Indonesia in order to increase the carbon sequestration capacity and community incomes. The specific aim of the study was to calculate total value carbon gained as impact of various interventions in area of Ex-PLG Blok A, Mentangai, Central Kalimantan. Estimation on carbon stock was conducted by Sample Plot of Measurement (PCP). The interventions in this study was cannal blocking. The study showed that activity of cannal blocking resulted in a positive impact, indicated by the present of reduction carbon rate (both above and below ground carbon), as well as carbon content by tree plantation (43,451 ha). Based on result of calculation, the amount of obtained above ground carbon stock was 14,448 ton C. Carbon stock found in the tree plantation in surrounding the cannal was 0,777 ton C. Below ground carbon stock was ranged between 550,782 ton C to 2,223,424 ton C. Total above ground and below ground carbon stock were 2,541,222.78 ton C or equal to 9,317,816.85 ton CO2
Metode Estimasi Massa Karbon Pohon Jeunjing (Paraserianthes falcataria L Nielsen) di Hutan Rakyat (Method for Estimation of Tree Carbon Mass of Paraserianthes falcataria L Nielsen in Community Forest)
The study was conducted at Jalagajaya Village, Jasinga Subdistrict, Bogor District, West Java, Indonesia. The objective of the study was to apply a methodology and method for tree carbon mass stock estimation in community forest based on a field survey of the forest and a model of tree carbon mass equation. The study revealed that there was a difference on carbon content in the parts of the tree biomass. Based on the analysis, model of tree carbon mass equation of Paraserianthes falcataria L Nielsen at Julagajaya Village was C = 0.7D1.48, with R² adj. = 95.7%. Results of the tree carbon mass estimation of the Paraserianthes falcataria L Nielsen based on the tree carbon mass-equation model were lower than the results estimated based on the tree biomass-equation model of Brown (1997), but higher than the results estimated based on the tree biomass-equation model of Ketterings et al. (2001). The study showed that the tree carbon stock of the community forest Paraserianthes falcataria L Nielsen at Julagajaya Village in 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 year age stand were 29.262, 33.555, 36.041, 39.163, 33.163, and 56.943 ton ha-1, respectively. Keywords: biomass-equation model, tree carbon mass-equation model, tree carbon stock, communityfores
Pendugaan Dinamika Struktur Tegakan Hutan Alam Bekas Tebangan
Dynamics of stand structure (DST), which could indicate the growth performance of logged-over forests, may vary depending on various factors, e.g. stand density, initial stand structure, species composition, time after logging, and environmental factors (rainfall, elevation, etc.). The variations of such factors could result in the variations of DST’s components (e.g. proportion of trees upgrowth and staying). However, this study, which used 75 permanent sample plots data of lowland and dryland natural forests in Kalimantan, showed that the proportion of trees upgrowth and staying could not be predicted satisfactorily using the number of trees, stand basal area, time after logging, and elevation as independent variables in multiple linear regression models. The regression models produced unrealistic projections of stand structures. In contrast, the projection of stand structures using the DST’s components that were calculated using arithmetic mean was better than that of the regression models
Study on Spatial and Temporal Changes of Forest Cover Due to Canal Establishment in Peat Land Area, Central Kalimantan
CASI (Compact Airborne Spectrometer Imager) data was examined to classrfi 20 tree species. The numerical taxonomy using nearest neighbor hierarchical classification method was applied to cluster the spectral reflectance of those species of interest. The study shows promising results expressing the abiliry of CASI image to discriminate 20 tree species. To get a better result of discriminating 20 species, the number of bands used should be more than eight bands. Using combination of less than eight bands caused some class pairs "inseparable". From the cluster analysis, the study also found that there is no relationship between botanical taxonomy of the species and their spectral reflectance. The tree species that belong to the same genus or family could not have similar spectral reflectance
Evaluasi Kerusakan Tegakan Tinggal Akibat Pemanenan Menggunakan Landsat 7 ETM+ di HPH PT Sari Buana Dumai Provinsi Riau
This paper describes the use of Landsat 7 ETM+ for evaluating logged over stand condition. The digital classification and spatial analysis were performed to identity degree of stand damage and their spatial distribution. The study found that Landsat 7 ETM+ images were powerful to identify logged over stand damage having Kappa and overall accuracies more than 99%, as well as interclass separability more than 1900 (good). There is also a spatial relationship between the stand damage and distance from the logging road
Pengembalian Ekonomi dalam Pengelolaan Hutan Alam Produksi: Suatu Pendekatan Dinamika Sistem
This research was aimed at obtaining economic returns of uneven-aged forest management based on system dynamic model approach. Logged-over natural forest in the concession area of PT. Telagabakti Persada, North Moluccas was selected for study. Stand structure dynamic model was estimated from re-measured permanent sample plot. It consists of ingrowth, upgrowth and mortality functions. The model was constructed based on species group (Dipterocarpaceae, Non Dipterocarpaceae and Non Commercial). Then, prediction data compared with the actual data. The economic criteria were the land expectations value, net present value, benefit cost ratio and annual equivalent value of net present value. The cutting simulation result shows that an increase of cutting intensity had lengthened cutting cycle. Increase of cutting cycle had increased land expectation value. Increase of land expectation value had decreased tree diversity. Increase of royalty and interest rate had increased land expectation value. Changes of royalty and interest rate were not affected on optimum cutting alternative.Key words:
%VdotO2max as Physical Load Indicator Unit in Forest Work Operation
Most of forestry work has burdened forest workers with heavy workload, which is often exceeding their allowable workload. This workload has been widely measured through energy expenditure-based workload assessment (expressed in kcal/kg/min). However, this calculation method excluded physical characteristic of individual into its calculation, meanwhile it may greatly influenced metabolism system of an individual. Thus, there is a big possibility that the use of kcal/kg/min workload unit in comparing workload among different individuals conducting the same physical work had ended in an erroneous reading. Therefore, a study on alternative workload measurement that provides a fair assessment when the assessment is conducted among different individuals performing same physical activity is significantly important. This study proposed an alternative workload calculation approach, in which the workload unit was expressed in %VdotO2max. The results showed that alternative workload measurement provided excellent accurateness similar to that provided by conventional workload assessment method. Further analysis showed that the proposed unit showed a fair reading when the analysis was carried out to more than one individual. This was because the proposed unit considered maximum physical work capacity (short term) of each individual in its calculation
Diskursus dan Aktor dalam Pembuatan dan Implementasi Kebijakan Kehutanan: Masalah Kerangka Pendekatan Rasional (Discourses and Actors in the Forest Policy Formulation: Problems of Rational Framework)
This study was conducted to acquire how forest policy making process and implementation have been going on. The role of discourses, knowledge, actors and their networks determine effectiveness of policy debate to meet its goal. Forest policy making process and implementation was not occurred in a linear process as constructed in the rational framework. Imperfected knowledge creates dispute resolution. Effective interaction among actors to solve their diverse perception was determined by knowledge as well as discourses. The strength of actors and their networks and gap of their interest are significant factors to meet their agreed solution. The facts of forest policy process and implementation are expected to be understood by stakeholders and they should bear in mind that effort to improve performance of forestry development based on implementation of existing policy and policy reform remain unpredictable. This analysis are also expected to be used by stakeholders to get better policy intervention strategy
