Office Buildings
This book brings together concepts from the building, environmental, behavioural and health sciences to provide an interdisciplinary understanding of office and workplace design. Today, with changes in the world of work and the relentless surge in technology, offices have emerged as the repositories of organizational symbolism, denoted by the spatial design of offices, physical settings and the built environment (architecture, urban locale). Drawing on Euclidian geometry that quantifies space as the distance between two or more points, a body of knowledge on office buildings, the concept of office and office space, and the interrelationships of spatial and behavioural attributes in office design are elucidated. Building and office work-related illnesses, namely sick building syndrome and ailments arising from the indoor environment, and the menace of musculoskeletal disorders are the alarming manifestations that critically affect employee satisfaction, morale and work outcomes. With a focus on office ergonomics, the book brings the discussion on the fundamentals of work design, with emphasis on computer workstation users. Strategic guidance of lighting systems and visual performance in workplaces are directed for better application of ergonomics and improvement in office indoor environment. It discusses the profiles of bioclimatic, indoor air quality, ventilation intervention, lighting and acoustic characteristics in office buildings. Emphasis has been given to the energy performance of buildings, and contemporary perspectives of building sustainability, such as green office building assessment schemes, and national and international building-related standards and codes. Intended for students and professionals from ergonomics, architecture, interior design, as well as construction engineers, health care professionals, and office planners, the book brings a unified overview of the health, safety and environment issues associated with the design of office buildings

Perjalanan menjadi dokter ternyata nggak segampang yang gue bayangkan. Setelah menjalani perkuliahan yang cukup panjang, akhirnya gue menjadi sarjana kedokteran. Hore?

=========
Research into Design for a Connected World
This book showcases cutting-edge research papers from the 7th International Conference on Research into Design (ICoRD 2019) – the largest in India in this area – written by eminent researchers from across the world on design processes, technologies, methods and tools, and their impact on innovation, for supporting design for a connected world. The theme of ICoRD‘19 has been “Design for a Connected World”. While Design traditionally focused on developing products that worked on their own, an emerging trend is to have products with a smart layer that makes them context aware and responsive, individually and collectively, through collaboration with other physical and digital objects with which these are connected. The papers in this volume explore these themes, and their key focus is connectivity: how do products and their development change in a connected world? The volume will be of interest to researchers, professionals and entrepreneurs working in the areas on industrial design, manufacturing, consumer goods, and industrial management who are interested in the use of emerging technologies such as IOT, IIOT, Digital Twins, I4.0 etc. as well as new and emerging methods and tools to design new products, systems and services
The Essence of Turbulence as a Physical Phenomenon: With Emphasis on Issues of Paradigmatic Nature, 2/E.
Now in its second edition, this book clearly, concisely and comprehensively outlines the essence of turbulence.
In view of the absence of a theory based on first principles and adequate tools to handle the problem, the “essence” of turbulence, i.e. what turbulence really is from a fundamental point of view, is understood empirically through observations from nature, laboratories and direct numerical simulations rather than explained by means of conventional formalistic aspects, models, etc., resulting in pertinent issues being described at a highly theoretical level in spite of the mentioned lack of theory.
As such, the book highlights and critically reexamines fundamental issues, especially those of paradigmatic nature, related to conceptual and problematic aspects, key misconceptions and unresolved matters, and discusses why the problem is so difficult. As in the previous edition, the focus on fundamental issues is also a consequence of the view that without corresponding advances in fundamental aspects there is little chance of progress in any applications. More generally there is a desperate need for physical fundamentals of a great variety of processes in nature and technology in which turbulence plays a central role. Turbulence is omnipresent throughout the natural sciences and technology, but despite the vast sea of information available the book retains its brevity without oversimplifications, making it of interest to a broad audience
Computational Tapered and Cylinder Roller Bearings
This monograph presents computational models that describe electro-mechanical characteristics of tapered and cylinder roller bearings in various industrial applications. Applying the Levenberg-Marquardt’s algorithm to solving strongly nonlinear coupled equation systems, the computational models consisting of many circular slices per rolling element enable computations of the local Hertzian pressures at the elastohydrodynamic (EHD) contact area, the relating oil-film thickness in elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL), the limiting voltage of electro-pitting, bearing frictions, and fatigue lifetimes of the bearings for various load spectra. Using the best-known machine-learning method for clustering, the load spectrum is clustered in k cluster means based on the invariant damage number to accelerate the load spectrum. Furthermore, the accelerated load spectrum is used for the testing procedure of the bearings to reduce the testing time and costs as well.
The target audience of this book primarily comprises graduate students in mechanical engineering and practicing engineers of electro-machines and transmission systems who want to computationally design tapered and cylinder roller bearings for the automotive industry and other industries, and to deeply dive into these relating working fields
