    PENGARUH PENERAPAN METODE PRAKTIKUM TERHADAP AKTIVITAS BELAJAR DAN PENGUASAAN KONSEP OLEH SISWA

    The result of interview were found that student’s learning activities and mastery of concept was low. This research aimed to understanding the activity progress of study also mastery student concept through practical method. The design method were equivalent pretest and postest. The sample were students of X2 and X4 class which chosen by cluster random sampling. The result shown that the student activity in every aspects in the experiment class was higher than the control class (experiment = 88,53%; control = 66,40%). Mastery of concept was increase too with a N-gain average of  experiment was higher than control (experiment = 0,70; control = 0,35). Thus, practical methods  could be increasing student’s learning activities and mastery the worls of plant concept.  Hasil wawancara dengan guru biologi diketahui bahwa aktivitas belajar dan penguasaan konsep oleh siswa masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan aktivitas belajar dan penguasaan konsep siswa melalui penerapan metode praktikum. Desain penelitian ini pretes postes equivalen.  Sampel adalah kelas X2 dan X4 dipilih secara cluster random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas siswa dalam semua aspek yang diamati  pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol (eksperimen = 88,53%;  kontrol = 66,40%). Tingginya persentase aktivitas  tersebut, mengakibatkan penguasaan konsep mengalami peningkatan, dengan  rata – rata N-gain lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol (eksperimen = 0,70; kontrol = 0,35). Dengan demikian, pembelajaran menggunakan metode  praktikum berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan aktivitas belajar dan penguasaan konsep oleh siswa pada  materi pokok dunia tumbuhan. Kata kunci :  aktivitas belajar, dunia tumbuhan, metode praktikum, penguasaan konsep.

    ABSTRACTCritical thinking skill is important for students to overcome their daily life problem . Result of observation of class VIII  SMP Negeri 1 Pardasuka, showed that students’ critical thinking skill was still low. The purpose of this research is to find out  the influence of multimedia interactive by using guided inquiry learning model to students’ critical thinking skill. The aspecs of students critical thingking observed  were to identify, to give example, to make differences, to interpretation, to generallized, to give assumption. Students activities observed were to give idea, to disscuss, to present, to answer questions, to ask question. This research used   pretest posttest group non- equivalent designed. The sampel were students of class VIII E and class VIII F  chosen at cluster randomly. The quantitative data was obtained from N-gain, and was analyzed by t-test at realibility of 5 %. Qualitative data were  the  students’ activity collected  during  process  which was  analyzed in the percentage of average. Students’ questionnaire responses on  using   multimedia interactive with guided inquiry learning  was analyzed descriptively. The  N-gain analysis of students critical thinking was  0,4 in average, meaning  that the use of multimedia interactive  using guided inquiry learning model  influenced significantly toward students’ critical thinking. In term of students activities, asking questions aspect reach the highest (54,5%)

    PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN METODE DISKOVERI TERHADAP AKTIVITAS DAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA

    Based on observations at Muhammadiyah Junior High School in Pekalongan, Lampung Timur shows that critical thinking skill of students is still low. This research was intended to increase the students activity and critical thinking skill through using discovery method. The design of the research was pretest-posttest non equivalent group design. The sample of this research were the students of VIIa and VIIc class which was chosen by purposive sampling. The qualitative data obtained from the observation sheet of learning activities of students were analyzed descriptive. The quantitative data obtained from the average value of pretest, posttest, and N-gain that were analyzed by the U test. The results showed that students activities in experiment class improved. The critical thinking skill of students also improved with average pretest score 49,86; posttest 76,64 and N-gain 48,52. Thus, it can be concluded that increasing of learning activities and critical thinking skill of students is influenced significan by using discovery method.Berdasarkan observasi di SMP Muhammadiyah Pekalongan, Lampung Timur, diketahui kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa masih rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan aktivitas belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui metode diskoveri. Desain penelitian ini adalah desain pretes-postes kelompok tidak ekuivalen. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIa dan VIIc yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Data kualitatif diperoleh dari lembar observasi aktivitas belajar siswa yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari rata-rata nilai pretes, postes, dan N-gain yang dianalisis menggunakan uji U. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas siswa pada kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan. Kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa juga mengalami peningkatan, dengan rata-rata pretes sebesar 49,86; postes sebesar 76,44 dan N-gain sebesar 48,52. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran menggunakan metode diskoveri berpengaruh signifikan dalam meningkatkan aktivitas belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.Kata kunci : aktivitas belajar, ciri-ciri makhluk hidup, kemampuan berpikir kritis, metode diskoveri

    Based on observation and interview with biology teacher in SMA N 1 Ambarawa, students learning activities and outcomes were not optimally developed yet. An alternative that can be used to improve learning activities and outcomes is using applicating cooperative learning model type examples non examples.This experiment aims to find out the influence of applicating cooperative learning model type examples non examples towards improvement of students learning activities and outcomes.This study is quasi experiment using pretest posttest group non equivalent design. Sample in this experiment are students from X.1 and X.2  which obtained from population by cluster random sampling method. Quantitative data is outcomes that obtained from average of pretest and posttest scores which statistically analyzed with U-test using SPSS version 16 in 95% confidence levels. Qualitative data are student’s learning activities and students responses about applicating cooperative learning model type examples non examples which descriptively analyzed. Result of this study shown that the average of students outcomes in experimental class are higher than control (experiment= 72.3; control = 58.0). The average of student learning activities percentage in all observed aspects in experimental class shown higher enhancement than control (experiment = 90.8; control = 60.25).     PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MODEL KOOPERATIF TIPE STAD TERHADAP PENGUASAAN MATERI DAN AKTIVITAS SISWA

    The purpose of this study was to determine the effectivity of the cooperative learning STAD type  to improve mastery of the material and activity of the SMP Negeri 2 Tegineneng students. The study design was a pretest-posttest non equivalent. Sample were the class VIIA and VIIB that selected by cluster random sampling technique. The qualitative data obtained from the observation sheets. Quantitative data was the mastery of the material obtained from pretest and posttest. Data analysis of student activity using student activity index, whereas mastery of the material using the Mann-Whitney U test using SPSS 17. The results on the experimental class showed that a STAD model could be affect in activity and mastery of materials, it was increasing in all aspect every meeting. Thus, the STAD model can increase the activity and mastery of the subject matter of the organism characteristics  by the SMP Negeri 2 Tegineneng students.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dalam meningkatkan penguasaan materi dan aktivitas siswa SMP Negeri 2 Tegineneng. Desain penelitian ini adalah pretes-postes tak ekuivalen. Sampel adalah siswa kelas VIIA dan VIIC yang dipilih dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Data kualitatif diperoleh dari lembar observasi. Data kuantitatif yaitu penguasaan materi diperoleh dari pretes dan postes. Analisis data aktivitas siswa menggunakan indeks aktivitas siswa, sedangkan penguasaan materi menggunakan Uji Mann-Whitney U dengan program SPSS 17. Hasil penelitian pada kelas eksperimen menunjukkan model STAD berpengaruh terhadap aktivitas dan penguasaan materi, yaitu adanya peningkatan setiap aspek pada setiap pertemuannya.     Base in the observation on XI IPA 1 grade students of senior high school Bukit Kemuning  known that XI IPA 1 class  in even semester academic year 2011/2012 shows the average value mastery of the material of the human movement system is still lo, seen the average of student scores that 60,83 well below from the mastery learning that 65,0.  The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the use of teaching materials leaflet with teaching models TPS towards the activity and student lerning outcomes in the subject matter of the movement system.  This research is quasi experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. A sample of this reaserch is XI IPA 1 grade students of senior high school Bukit Kemuning. The data of this study was obtained from the test (pretest and posttest) and the observation sheet (students learning activities). data analysis using a t-test with the program SPSS17.The results showed that an increased in the average between the pretest (71,73) and posttest(71,73).  The average student activity at the third metting increased by 5,88%.  Also based on the data questionnaire leaflet interest of teaching materials, all students stated instructional material leaflet in interesting (96,32%).     The Influenced of Laboratory Equipment Utilization towards Students Learning Activities and Concept Mastery on Structure and Function of Plants Tissues Subject Matter

An alternative that can be used to improve learning activities and concept mastery is using laboratory equipment. This study aims to understand the influence of laboratory equipment utilization towards student activities and concept mastery. This study is quasi experiment using pretest posttest group non equivalent design. Sample in this experiment are students from VIII C and VIII D which obtained from population by cluster random sampling method. Quantitative data obtained from average of pretest and posttest scores which statistically analyzed with U-test using SPSS version 17 in 95% confidence levels. Qualitative data are student’s concept mastery, learning activities and students responses about laboratory equipment utilization which descriptively analyzed. Result of this study shown that the average of students concept mastery in experimental class are higher than control (experiment= 65.81; control = 29.1). The average of student learning activities percentage in all observed aspects in experimental class shown higher enhancement than control (experiment = 79.9; control = 72.21) most of the students also gives positive responses to laboratory equipment utilization.  Key words: structure and function of plants tissues, laboratory equipment media   

    PENGARUH METODE PRAKTIKUM TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN PROSES SAINS SISWA PADA MATERI KERAGAMAN SISTEM ORGANISASI KEHIDUPAN

    This study was aim to improve of the science process skill’s student through practical method. This experiment used pretest-posttest non-equivalent group design. The samples were VIIA  and VIIB  that chosen by purposive  sampling technique. The data consist of qualitative and quantitative. The quantitative data was the average value of pretest, posttest and N-gain were analyzed using t-test and Mann-Whitney U  test. The qualitative data was descriptions of learning activities. The results showed that by the practical method, science process skill students was increasing, with average N-Gain 50.93. The activities of students such as attention to the teacher, team work, answer the question, discussion also was increasing. Thus, the practical method improved the science process skill’s students. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan metode praktikum terhadap keterampilan proses sain siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimental dengan desain pretes postes kelompok tak ekuivalen.  Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIA dan VIIB yang dipilih dari populasi secara purposive sampling.  Data penelitian ini berupa data kuantitatif dan kualitatif.  Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari rata-rata nilai N- Gain  pretes dan postes yang analisis secara statistik menggunakan uji t dan uji Mann-Withney.  Data kualitatif berupa deskripsi data aktivitas belajar siswa yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui metode praktikum, keterampilan proses sains siswa mengalami peningkatan secara signifikan, dengan rata-rata N-Gain 50.93. Aktivitas belajar siswa seperti memperhatikan guru, bekerjasama, menjawab pertanyaan dan berdisusi juga meningkat. Dengan demikian, dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa pembelajaran menggunakan metode praktikum berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan proses sains siswa.Kata kunci :  aktivitas siswa, keragaman sistem organisasi kehidupan makhluk hidup, keterampilan proses sains siswa (KPS), metode praktikum

    The results of interviews with teachers in high school biology class XI Swadhipa Natar, it is known that subjects, especially biology subject matter Digestive System Food is delivered by using the method of discussion. Though this material has special characteristics that examine the mechanisms of complex processes that are difficult to understand, and involve organs that correspond to the structure and function of complex. The purpose of this study is to determine effect of Predict, Observe, Explain And (POE)  learning model  on student’s  learning activities  and mastering  of  Food Digestion System  concepts  of  Swadhipa  high school students. This  a quasi-experimental  strudy  used pretest-posttest  with non-equivalent dsigned. The  sample   were  students of  class   XI IPA2 as the experimental group and class XI IPA1 as a control  which was  selected from the population at random cluster sampling. Data was collected   as  in  percentage form.   The students’ actvities observed consists of five (5)  abilities of predicting, observing, describing, working together, and making conclusion. The study resulted that POE learning model  could enhanced the students’  predicting  ability  up to 20%,  observing ability up to 19%, describing ability up to 24%,  abity to work together up to 22,8%, and  ability of making onferences up to 16

    PERBANDINGAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN TSTS DAN GW TERHADAP PENGUASAAN KONSEP SISWA

    The purpose of this study was to determine the students' mastery of concepts and activities in learning through two stay two stray (TSTS) model and Gallery Walk (GW) in the subject matter respiratory system. Samples were students of class XI IPA1 and XI IPA5 randomly selected by cluster random sampling technique. The quantitative data obtained from the average value of pretest and posttest were statistically analyzed using u-test. The result of this research proves the activities in express their arguement, asking, team work, share the information and persentation get improves by N-gain score in GW class 55.56 where as in TSTS class 39,47. Because of that using a model of learning GW gave significant influance in increasing mastery of concepts and student learning activity.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Penguasaan Konsep dan aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran melalui model Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) dan Gallery Walk (GW)  pada materi pokok sistem pernapasan. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA1 dan XI IPA5 yang dipilih secara acak dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari rata-rata nilai pretes dan postes yang dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji-u. Data kualitatif berupa data aktivitas belajar siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas mengemukakan pendapat, bertanya, bekerjasama, bertukar informasi dan persentasi mengalami peningkatan dengan skor N-gain pada kelas GW 55,56 sedangkan pada kelas TSTS 39,47.
