    The study was to describe the ability of the eighth graders' mathematical connections to solve problems based on mathematical abilities. This type of research is a qualitative study. The subject of this study is the eighth grade 1 st student hammer with a high level, moderate ability and low capacity. The method of data collection with observation, tests and interviews through the technical data analysis phase that is the condensing of data, the presentation of data and the drawing of conclusions. The stability of mathematical connections is defined by the mathematical problem of the cube that contains the indicator of the ability of mathematics: 1) connections between mathematical concepts, 2) connections between mathematics and other disciplines, 3) connections connecting and applying mathematics in everyday life. Research shows that high-performing students are able to meet the indicator of mathematical connection capability, the gifted student only meets a portion of the mathematical competence and the underprivileged student is not yet able to meet the indicator of mathematical connection

    The purpose of this study was to describe the understanding of Class VIIIC students of SMP IT Qurrota A'yun Palu in solving the story problems of the Two Variable Linear Equation System. The research using a qualitative descriptive approach. The result of this study is that the understanding of students with high abilities shows that students tend to have a good understanding, both from understanding translation, understanding interpretation, and understanding extrapolation. The understanding of students with moderate ability shows that students have a good understanding of understanding translation and interpretation, but lacking in understanding extrapolation. Moderately capable students are able to convey and understand story problems, interpret and describe the intent of the questions, and determine the concept or appropriate steps properly and correctly. However, it is inaccurate and there are errors in applying the concept of mathematical calculations and concluding answers. The understanding of low-ability students has a fairly good understanding, on translational understanding, low-ability students can convey and understand story problems, but are unable to interpret and describe the intent of the questions, determine concepts or steps for solving problems and are unable to apply the concept of calculation and conclude the answer completely, which means that low-ability students are very lacking in understanding interpretation and extrapolation

    This study aims to obtain a description of the surface area and volume problem solving profiles of class IX B students at SMP Negeri 1 Lore Tengah. This study uses a qualitative method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The research subjects were 3 students, namely students who had high, medium and low mathematical abilities based on the problem solving steps proposed by Polya. The research results obtained show that: (1) Students who have high mathematical abilities use all stages of Polya in solving problems of surface area and volume of cylinders. (2) Students who have moderate mathematical abilities have not been able to use all of Polya's stages in solving the problem of surface area and volume of cylinders, the stage in question is found in the re-examining stage. However, the subject gave his opinion by explaining using his own language why not re- examine the results of solving the problem given. (3) Students who have low mathematical abilities have not been able to go through all the stages of Polya in solving problems, the subject is only able to go through the stages of understanding the problem but the subject needs to read repeatedly and pay attention to the information contained in the problem repeatedly

    This study aims to obtain an overview of fractional problem solving in terms of mathematical ability in class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Pamona Timur. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. The research subjects consisted of three students with high, medium and low abilities. Data collection techniques in this study were written tests and interviews. The results of this study indicate that the subject's ability to solve fraction problems according to Polya's stages are as follows: (1) the stages of understanding the problem of high, medium, and low ability subjects read repetitive problems, mention information that is known based on declarative sentences and information asked based on imperative sentences or question of the problem appropriately. (2) the stage of preparing a problem solving plan for subjects with high, medium, and low abilities in making a problem solving plan, namely stating the information asked to make a mathematical model in the form of adding and subtracting fractions based on what is known correctly. (3) the stage of carrying out the problem-solving plan, high-ability subjects carry out the problem-solving plan in accordance with what has been planned correctly, while subjects with moderate and low ability carry out the problem-solving plan according to what was planned beforehand but not quite right. (4) the stage of re-examining the results of solving high-skilled subjects did not write down how to check answers, but when interviewed by researchers, high-skilled subjects were able to re-check the answers that had been written down. Meanwhile, subjects with medium and low abilities were sure of their answers and did not re-check their answers, because they did not understand how to re-check their answer

    The purpose of this study was to obtain a description of the application of the think talk write type of cooperative learning model to improve the learning outcomes of class VII students of SMPN 1 Parigi Tengah on Comparative Materials. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which refers to the research design of Kemmis and Mc.Taggart (Arikunto, 2007:16) namely (1) planning, (2) action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. Data collected in this study through observation sheets, interviews, field notes, and data on student learning outcomes. The subjects selected in this study were class VII students of SMPN 1 Parigi Tengah, totaling 24 students and 3 students were selected as informants. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes in comparative material in class VII SMPN 1 Parigi Tengah by following the stages of cooperative learning of the Think Talk Write type, namely: (1) Think, at this stage students read and observe the problem on the LKPD given by the teacher so that it helps students to be able to think about possible answers then write them down in a small note. (2) Talk, at this stage students discuss with their group friends about the results of the small notes they have made. (3) Write, students write down the results of the discussion on the worksheet provided (LKPD)

    This research aims to obtain a description of the three-dimensional geometry problem solving profile of class XII students of SMA Negeri 1 Ampana in terms of visual-spatial intelligence. This type of research is qualitative research. There were 2 subjects in this study, NA with a high level of visual-spatial intelligence and SA with a low level of visual-spatial intelligence. The results of the research show the following: (1) Problem-solving profile of the NA subject in: a) Understanding the problem, the subject redraws the exact beam in the problem, identifies and writes down all known and asked rib lengths b) Makes a problem-solving plan, subject has a clear strategy in finding the point on the diagonal line of the field by using the area of ​​a triangle formula, c) Carrying out the problem-solving plan, the subject implements the problem-solving plan that has been previously designed so as to obtain the distance from the point to the field diagonal line, d) Checking back, the subject sees - look back at the results of his work while occasionally calculating all the steps in the answer. (2) Problem-solving profile of the SA subject in: a) Understanding the problem, the subject identifies and writes down all the known and asked rib lengths in the problem, b)Making a problem-solving plan, the subject does not have a clear and wrong strategy to obtain a point on the diagonal line of the field, c) Carrying out the problem-solving plan, the subject cannot solve the given problem because when working on the problem the subject uses the wrong formula, d) Re-checking, the subject did not re-check the answers

    PROFIL PENYELESAIAN SOAL MATERI FUNGSI KOMPOSISI KELAS X SMA NEGERI 1 SIGI DITINJAU DARI TIPE KEPRIBADIAN EXTROVERT DAN INTROVERT: Profile of Solving Function Composition Materials of Grade X Students of SMA Negeri 1 Sigi Type in Terms of The Extrovert and Introvert Personality

    The purpose of this study was to find out how the composition function in problem-solving profiles of class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Sigi in terms of extrovert and introvert personality types. This research is qualitative. The subjects of this study were 2 students of class X MIPA 3 at SMA Negeri 1 Sigi. Subjects were taken using the Myers-Briggs-Type Indicator personality test. The data validity technique used in this study is time triangulation. Data analysis technique with steps 1) data condensation, 2) data presentation and 3) concluding. The results showed that both extrovert and introvert subjects were capable of formulating solutions. using logical reasoning. The indicators of applying the introverted subject's strategy can explain clearly each step taken in solving the problem. Introvert subjects are more thorough and careful than extrovert subjects in solving problems. This is shown by the imprecise calculations carried out by the extrovert subject. In the indicators explaining the results of the completion, introvert  subjects can conclude by proving the correctness of the results obtained, while extrovert subjects cannot write them down correctly

    KEMAMPUAN REPRESENTASI MATEMATIS SISWA DALAM MEMECAHKAN MASALAH GARIS DAN SUDUT DI KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 9 PALU

    The purpose of this research was to obtain a description of the mathematical representation of class VIIJ students of SMP Negeri 9 Palu in solving line and angle problems. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative. The research subjects consisted of 3 students, namely 1 student representing low ability, 1 student representing moderate ability, and 1 student representing high ability, based on the grades of even semester report cards for the 2021/2022 academic year. Collecting data using tests and interviews. In analyzing data, researchers used data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that subjects with low abilities had mathematical representation abilities in solving line and angle problems in problem number 1 but in solving problem number 2 they were still not good. This means that the subject meets the indicators of mathematical representation abilities which include image representation, verbal representation, and symbolic representation which are still not good. Subjects with moderate abilities have mathematical representation abilities in solving line and angle problems in question number 1 but in solving problem number 2 they do not show image representations. This means that the subject meets the indicators of mathematical representation which includes image representation, verbal representation, and symbolic representation quite well. Subjects with high ability have mathematical representation abilities in solving line and angle problems in questions number 1 and 2. This means that the subject fulfills all indicators of mathematical representation ability which include image representation, verbal representation, and symbolic representation well

    PROFIL KEMAMPUAN KONEKSI MATEMATIS SISWA SMA BERDASARKAN KEMAMPUAN MATEMATIKA: Profile of High School Students’ Mathematical Connection Ability Based on Mathematics Ability

    The purpose of this study is to profile the mathematical connection ability of students who have high mathematical abilities in the sub-topic of trigonometric equations. The research design uses a qualitative approach. The study was conducted on students of St. Andreas Palu Catholic High School. The instruments used are written assignments and interview guidelines. The results of this study show that the connection ability  of students with high mathematical ability in solving equation problems in each category includes: 1) In  the modeling connection  category, students know the information in the problem completely and precisely this is characterized by  recognize the relationship between time and trigonometry so that students can use the formulas they know to determine when the right time is so that the ship can enter the port based on known equations. 2)  In the concept connection category, students understand the concept of trigonometric equations and trigonometric comparisons in solving trigonometric equation problems. However, the subject did not understand well the interrelationship of the concept of cosine trigonometric equations with the given question so that an incorrect final answer was obtained.  3) In the category of procedure connections, students relate concepts through appropriate procedures so that they can solve trigonometric equation problems

    The purpose of this study was to describe the mistakes made by students in solving straight line equation problems. this type of research is qualitative research. The research subjects were 3 students taken from 23 class VIII students of MTs DDI Singga. The results of this study were reviewed based on Kostolan errors showing that the mistakes made by students in solving problems were conceptual errors and procedural errors. (1) Conceptual errors for students with high abilities, namely: not writing down the formula, for students with moderate abilities, namely: not writing down the formula, and making mistakes in determining the formula, and students with low abilities, namely: making mistakes in determining the formula, and not writing down the formula. (2) and for procedural errors of students with high abilities, namely: inability to manipulate steps in answering a problem, and calculation operation errors, for students with moderate abilities, namely: inability to map the steps in answering a problem, and calculation operation errors, and for students with low abilities, namely: inability to map the steps in answering a problem, and calculation operation errors
