Environmental, Social, and Governance Bonds and Stock Market Reactions: An Event Study
As environmental, social, and governance (ESG) bonds have become a fundamental tool in corporate strategies for financing
sustainability, an understanding of how stock markets react to their issuance is essential. Based on the efficient market hypothesis (EMH) and signaling theory, this event study uses 3618 ESG bond issuances from 2021 to 2023 to investigate stock market
reactions around the issuance date and to test how those reactions vary with use-of-proceeds flexibility. The results reveal a negative market response, particularly when the use of proceeds is inflexible. These findings suggest that, while ESG bond issuance
signals a commitment to sustainability, it may also raise concerns about financial constraints, prompting investor reassessment.
The study extends EMH and signaling theory to the sustainable finance context and adds to ESG bond literature by examining
the role of fund allocation flexibility. Overall, the results highlight the importance of transparent reporting, as clear communication about ESG bond objectives and benefits appears essential to sustaining investor confidence.Consejería de Universidad, Investigación e Innovación - Programa FEDER Andalucía (C-SEJ-069-UGR23)MCIN/AEI (PID2023-150517NB-100)Universidad de Granada (PP2023.EI.02)Universidad de Granada / CBUA (Open access funding
Vitamin D Supplementation and Its Interaction with Common Medications: Impact on Serum Levels and Quality of Life in Adults with Comorbidities
Background/Objectives: Vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent worldwide and is associated with multiple comorbidities and pharmacological treatments that may interfere
with its metabolism. Evidence on the effect of supplementation across different drug user
groups remains limited. Methods: A prospective study was conducted across community
pharmacies over twelve months. Baseline socio-demographic, serum 25(OH)D concentration, quality of life (QoL), lifestyle habits, and medication use were collected. Participants
received vitamin D supplementation for 12 months. Changes in vitamin D status and
QoL were analyzed according to medication use. Logistic regression identified predictors of achieving adequate serum vitamin D levels (>30 ng/mL). Statistical significance
was set at p < 0.05. Results: At baseline, 87.2% of 210 participants had insufficient or
deficient vitamin D levels. After supplementation, mean serum vitamin D increased significantly from 21.3 ± 8.2 to 32.1 ± 12.6 ng/mL (p < 0.001), and QoL scores improved from
68.6 ± 18.7 to 77.8 ± 18.5 (p < 0.001). Dietary intake of vitamin D–rich foods and outdoor
activity also increased. Supplementation improved vitamin D status among users of benzodiazepines, proton pump inhibitors, beta-blockers, statins, levothyroxine, metformin, and
angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, but not among corticosteroid, nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs, or vitamin K antagonist. Multivariate analysis confirmed adherence
as a strongest predictor of vitamin D adequacy (OR = 15.31, 95% CI = 2.90–80.75), while
corticosteroid therapy, diabetes, and hypercholesterolemia were negatively associated.
Conclusions: Vitamin D supplementation effectively corrected deficiency and improved
QoL, but its efficacy varied according to comorbidities and medication use. Personalized
supplementation strategies, emphasizing adherence and considering pharmacological profiles, may optimize outcomes. Further studies should explore mechanistic drug–nutrient
interactions and long-term clinical implications

Populism and neoliberalism: an epocal convergence
The neoliberal reason has been established as a “conduct’s conduct” through which the market’s
values have colonized governamental instances and social spheres outside the economic domain. Nevertheless, we can find in this context –in which we witness an increment of social competitiveness– a huge
rise of populist movements whose identities are built with libidinal laces. This essay delves inside this apparently paradoxical situation and analyses how the biopolitical production of neoliberal subjectivities favors
the emergence of populist discourses
Film-induced Tourism: A Bibliometric Analysis (1998-2024)
Purpose
This study aims to critically evaluate the scientific evolution of film-induced tourism research from 1998 to 2024, identifying its transformative impact on tourism management and destination marketing. Our study seeks to uncover the pivotal role of audiovisual fiction in shaping tourist behavior, constructing destination images and influencing global travel motivations.
Design/methodology/approach
A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database, covering 386 documents. The study employed VOSviewer software to map co-authorship networks, keyword co-occurrence and thematic clusters, revealing multidisciplinary contributions and collaboration patterns.
Findings
The analysis reveals a steady increase in research activity, with a significant rise in interest after 2020. Two primary research clusters emerge: one focused on tourist motivations and profiles and another on the influence of audiovisual media in shaping destination images. Despite a broad multidisciplinary approach, limited collaboration among researchers and institutions was observed. The findings underline the growing role of film-induced tourism as a strategic tool for destination management and marketing.
Research limitations/implications
This study is limited by its exclusive reliance on the Scopus database, which may underrepresent non-English publications and contributions from emerging regions. Additionally, the use of a single bibliometric tool (VOSviewer) may restrict the scope of thematic clustering. Future studies should incorporate alternative databases and complementary analytical tools to enhance coverage and robustness. Despite these limitations, the findings offer valuable insights for advancing international collaboration and interdisciplinary dialog in film-induced tourism research.
Practical implications
The study demonstrates that film-induced tourism is an expanding field of research, with a well-established impact on travel motivations and the construction of destination images. However, it still faces significant challenges related to international collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement among researchers and institutions.
Originality/value
This work not only highlights emerging trends and gaps in collaboration among researchers and institutions but also provides actionable insights for leveraging media-driven tourism as a strategic tool for sustainable development and competitive advantage in the tourism industry
Hidden dimensions of the energy transition
The transition to renewable energy systems is central to addressing climate change, yet its implications extend far beyond merely reducing carbon (CO2) emissions. While renewable energy projects significantly lower operational CO₂ emissions, they can also result in substantial environmental, territorial, and socioeconomic impacts. This paper critically examines the hidden dimensions of the energy transition, focusing on overlooked consequences such as biodiversity loss, land-use conflicts, and resource depletion. Furthermore, it explores the challenges associated with the end-of-life of renewable technologies and the growing issue of waste management. By expanding the scope of impact assessments beyond CO₂ metrics, this paper highlights the importance of incorporating life-cycle, social, and territorial assessments to ensure a fair and sustainable energy transition
An Optimization Model for Resource Allocation in Multitenant LoRaWAN Scenarios
Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) has emerged as a leading Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) solution for enabling connectivity in Internet of Things (IoT) wireless networks. The network slicing paradigm facilitates multitenancy and allows heterogeneous applications with diverse Quality of Service (QoS) requirements to coexist in various IoT use cases. This article addresses the radio resource allocation problem in a multitenant LoRaWAN network, where each tenant may serve multiple applications supported by Network Slicing (NS). To this end, we propose an optimization model to determine the optimal channel and Spreading Factor (SF) allocation for each end device in a multioperator environment with heterogeneous applications. The model maximizes aggregated normalized throughput while ensuring fairness among Network Operators (NOs), employing linearization strategies to solve the problem efficiently. Our evaluation demonstrates the maximum achievable LoRaWAN network capacity to accommodate diverse IoT smart city applications from different tenants. The results confirm that optimal resource allocations can be achieved within reasonable time frames while meeting all requirements, including fair resource distribution among slices, compliance with regulatory constraints, such as duty cycle limitations, assurance of QoS metrics (throughput, delay, and packet delivery ratio) for each NO, and full isolation of resources allocated to different NOs.MICIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 - ERDF/EU (Grant PID2022-137329OB-C43)NextGenerationEU (TSI0630000-2021028/6G-CHRONOS)University of Granada - CBUA (Open access
Violencia política contra las mujeres: reflexiones sobre su conceptualización internacional en diálogo con el pensamiento feminista decolonial
International treaties on Violence Against
Women in Politics (vawp) have given visibility to a long-overlooked issue (Restrepo
Sanín, 2018; Krook, 2020). While influential in shaping national reform processes
and normative responses in Abya Yala, these
frameworks remain Eurocentric, failing
to address the colonial, patriarchal, racist, and heteronormative structures which
have shaped the violence that affect women
holding elected offices or exercising political power in the region (Curiel, 2014). As a result, prevention strategies can be inadequate or insufficient, reinforcing exclusions
in political spaces. This paper, drawing on
decolonial feminist perspectives, explored
how vawp is conceptualized in the global
normative framework, examining six international agreements that address the issue
directly or indirectly and that are relevant
to Abya Yala. In particular, it focuses on
the way the configuration of vawp relates to
the overshadowing of a gendered modern/
colonial system of oppression on which globalized predatory capitalist order lies upon.
For doing that, we adopt the lens of the
imbrication of oppression and the fourfold
coloniality framework as key methodological tools, grounded in a decolonial feminist
standpoint. The paper approach allows for
the disclosure and questioning of the dominant modern/colonial rationality that continues to perpetuate exclusion practices and
hinder substantial equality. In this process,
it is key to unveil the imbrication of race,
sexuality, gender and class that simultaneously affect embodied experiences of oppression and exploitation, both in relation
to geographical and corporal territories. It
is then argued in favour of a more contextualized approach to vawp that considers
dissident-in-many-ways bodies and their
geo-political location, highlighting the differentiated impact of violence.
Breaking Barriers in Glioblastoma Targeting through Advanced Nanoparticle Cell Membrane Coating
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and aggressive malignant brain tumor characterized by poor prognosis and limited treatment options. Despite current therapies combining surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, GBM remains highly resistant to treatment, largely due to the challenges of drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Nanoparticles (NPs) have shown promise as drug carriers, but their clinical translation is hindered by limited brain accumulation and rapid clearance by the immune system. In this study, we explored the potential of GBM cell membrane (CM)-coated NPs (G-NPs) as a strategy to improve GBM targeting and, therefore, efficient treatments. We optimized the CM isolation protocol using U87-MG human GBM cells and identified the Heidolph homogenizer as the most effective technique for producing pure, enriched CM fractions, proposing it as a standard method due to its high scalability. G-NPs were extensively characterized, demonstrating excellent colloidal stability under biological conditions. Flow cytometry revealed the enhanced uptake of G-NPs by U87-MG cells compared to non-coated NPs. Notably, the specific homotargeting capability of G-NPs toward human glioblastoma cells was ultimately confirmed by demonstrating a marked specificity of the glioblastoma CM coating when compared to human fibroblast CM-coated NPs, highlighting selective tumor cell-type targeting. Additionally, the coating of NPs with GBM CMs not only did not impede the physiological passage of NPs across the human in vitro BBB, but interestingly, increased the BBB permeability to G-NPs. These findings highlight that biomimetic coating of NPs with GBM cells is a potential strategy to create platforms for the targeted chemotherapy of GBM
Pre-Service Teachers’ Beliefs About the Executive Functions of Gifted Students
The aim of this study was to examine pre-service teachers’ beliefs about the executive
functions (EFs) of gifted and talented (G&T) students. To accomplish this, 580 pre-service
teachers were asked to think of a hypothetical G&T child and a hypothetical non-G&T
child and rate their EFs using the Childhood Executive Functioning Inventory (CHEXI,
Spanish version). We determined the mean differences between the EF ratings for G&T and
non-G&T children. We also analyzed the differences according to the gender attributed to
the G&T student, training in G&T, and familiarity with a G&T person. The results showed
that G&T students were perceived as better than non-G&T students in working memory,
planning, regulation, and inhibition, which is in line with previous outcomes when using
performance tasks but not when using parents’ and teachers’ rating scales. Therefore,
despite possessing theoretical knowledge, teachers may still fail to identify gifted students
in real-life educational contexts.Granada University (project reference
