Neuroinclusion : a school community approach
Discover how schools can embrace neurodiversity in this eye-opening chapter. We examine a child’s day-to-day experiences as a lens for understanding how classroom environments and broader school cultures can adapt to meet diverse needs. Drawing on Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory and the neurodiversity paradigm, our conversation spotlights how co-production and participatory methods can foster a truly inclusive ecosystem—both inside and outside the classroom
Unlocking project success : investigating how senior management support affects the performance of project management and benefits management in IT projects
Although there are studies in the literature on the relationship of project management and benefits management with project success, there is a distinct lack of studies incorporating the role of senior management support. Therefore, this research study develops a theoretical model and investigates how senior management support affects the relationship between project management, benefits management, and project success. In this empirical study, we employed random sampling to distribute an online survey questionnaire to 210 project managers, project directors, and IT (information technology) project team members in Pakistan. As a result, 181 responses were received from the respondents giving a response rate of 85%. The results from regression analysis indicate a significant and positive impact of project management and benefits management on the success of IT projects, thereby emphasizing the value of these practices in organizations. Also, the findings of hierarchical regression reveal that senior management support strengthens the relationship between project management and project success, underscoring the importance of senior management in the project lifecycle process. However, the relationship between benefits management and the success of IT projects is found to be insignificant in the presence of senior management support. Finally, the study provides theoretical and practical implications relevant to practicing engineering managers, and future research directions

Aeroacoustics of the impeller in hovering mode
The main role in reducing the noise generation of unmanned aerial vehicles is played by aeroacoustic improvement of their power plant. To identify the acoustic field generated by the rotation of the impeller, which is used on an unmanned aerial vehicle of a quadcopter type, numerical modeling was carried out with the identification of the turbulent structure of the flow using the Large Eddy Simulation (LES). To calculate the noise, the Fox Williams-Hawkings (FW-H) integral method was applied, which makes it possible to determine the aeroacoustic characteristics in the far flow field. Using this technique, the noise level at various points was determined, a spectral analysis of the noise was carried out, and the directional pattern of acoustic radiation was plotted for various speeds of rotation of the propeller in hovering mode
Absence of fetal heart rate cycling on the intrapartum cardiotocograph (CTG) is associated with intrapartum pyrexia and lower Apgar scores
Cycling consists of alternating periods of reduced and normal fetal heart variability, reflecting changes in fetal behavioral states. Occurrence of active and quiet sleep cycles is considered to be a hallmark of fetal autonomic nervous system integrity, demonstrating healthy interaction between the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. Cycling is an overlooked feature in most international cardiotocography (CTG) guidelines. The authors tested the hypothesis that fetuses showing no cycling in the intrapartum period have poorer outcomes. To investigate whether the absence of cycling at the commencement of intrapartum fetal monitoring is associated with poorer neonatal outcomes (umbilical arterial cord pH, Apgar scores and neonatal unit admission). Analysis of a database of sequentially acquired intrapartum CTG traces from a single center. Only cases of singleton pregnancies over 36 weeks gestation in cephalic presentation with recorded umbilical artery cord pH were considered. Neonatal outcomes were assessed based on umbilical cord artery pH, Apgar ≤7 at 5 min and unexpected admission to the neonatal unit. Intrapartum pyrexia, presence of meconium-stained amniotic fluid and mode of delivery were also recorded. A total of 684 cases were analyzed. Absence of cycling from the beginning of the intrapartum CTG recording was noted in 5% of cases. Cases with no cycling were more likely to have maternal pyrexia (≥37.8 °C) ( = .006) and Apgars ≤7 at 5 min ( = .04). There was an association between increasing baseline fetal heart rate and the proportion of cases with no cycling. There was no significant difference between the two groups with regard to the mode of delivery or umbilical cord arterial pH <7.05 ( = .53). Absence of cycling is associated with intrapartum maternal pyrexia and fetuses with the absence of cycling are more likely to have poorer perinatal outcomes measured by Apgar ≤ 7 at 5 min, despite no association with fetal acidosis. Results from this research were presented at the XXVI European Congress of Perinatal Medicine in September 2018
Case study 3.5 : developing solutions to re-engage students with low attainment
This case study details an attempt at fostering engagement for two modules on undergraduate business degrees. An Aggregate Measure of Module Engagement (AMME) is calculated for all students based on face-to-face class attendance and participation in scheduled online activities, which classifies learners as low, medium or highly engaged. This measure is then used to generate a suite of differentiated formative tasks tailored for them. By building early interventions the study shows approaches that can both recover students who are identified as exhibiting low engagement and reinforce good practice for those with stronger engagement. The nature of the differentiated practices and the effect the interventions have had are discussed, along with suggestions for how this can be taken forward
