Male Gaze in Indian Cinema: The Presentation of Women in Mainstream Cinema
Get PDFSince the advent of motion pictures, movies have had a great impact on the masses. It has been used as a medium of communication with society as it has been said that movies are the reflection of society. In the Indian context, we can see the depiction of different identities in the cinemas, like gender, queer, ethnic groups and so on (multiculturalism). But the question is how far it is to address the problems of these marginalized sections. Even as a common person, we can notice the less or misrepresentation or misrecognition of the subaltern groups in Indian cinema. One of the most misrepresented among these and the most discussed topic is gender as patriarchy is dominant in almost every society which makes the subjugation of women a global grievance. In the cinematic world, too women have been exploited or oppressed and misrepresented by different means. One of the problems which have been talked about over and over is the concept of ‘male gaze’ (Mulvey, 1975). Women have always been objectified or commodified in the cinemas across the globe. Therefore, the concept of the ‘male gaze’ given by Mulvey addresses the problems of cinemas often being made from the male point of view and the content is specifically made for a heterosexual male. The ‘female-centric’ movies which are claimed by the filmmakers as a way of women\u27s empowerment have also been criticized by the feminists as merely a male standpoint. Application of Analytic Hierarchy Process in the Selection of Educational Supervisors
Get PDFIn this study, through literature review and analytic hierarchy process, expert questionnaires were conducted to explore the dimensions and criteria for selecting educational supervisors, four evaluation dimensions and 22 evaluation criteria were constructed, and the weight and ranking of each criterion item were determined by using hierarchical analysis. Influence of Sports and Games on Enhancing Students ‘Academic Performance in Public Secondary Schools in Nyamagana District
Get PDFThis study aimed at investigating the influence of sports and games in enhancing students’ academic performance in public secondary schools in Nyamagana district. The study employed mixed research approach and convergent research design. The participants involved in this study were 87 students, 8 sports and games teachers and 4 head of schools making the total of 99 respondents. Also, data were collected through questionnaires and interviews. Moreover, the quantitative data were analyzed using statistical packages for social sciences (SPSS) while qualitative data were analyzed through thematic data analysis. The findings of this study revealed that students’ participation in sports and games bring positive impacts on their academic performance. Sports and games promote cooperation and good relationship between students, teachers and other academicians. Also it was revealed that different challenges which face public schools in implementing sports and games were, lack of expert teachers in sports, lack of funds, poor government support, lack of sports and games facilities, lack of enough play grounds, and students’ misbehavior. Also, the findings identified different strategies schools should do to enhance sports and games successful such, giving rewards, sports competition, well planning of sports and games programs and lastly but not the least is dedicating enough time for sports. The study recommended that, in order to implement sports and games in public secondary schools, government should promote good policies which favor sports and games in secondary schools, and establishing sports and games academy for children, may help others to grow up with their carrier
The Role of Shopping Malls on Kurdistan Regional Government’s Economy
Get PDFThis research covers the history of shopping malls in KRG and how the malls were a new shopping destination for the citizens of KRG. However, with the current economic crisis in KRG and the financial difficulties that people have been facing in the past two years. This research studies the impact of economy crisis on the spending\u27s of individuals and the shopping centers that were used to be filled with people who would spend a huge amount of money on shopping. We distributed 240 questionnaires in three languages: Kurdish, Arabic and English in order to identify people’s shopping behavior and the factors that attract people to the shopping malls. The things that we managed to accomplish in this research was that people are pessimistic about the financial situation and future of the economy. People would rather save their cash than spending it on shopping. These achievements met the main objective of this study which was to find out people’s behavior to do their shopping and satisfy their needs and wants that are provided in the malls

The effect of stress on the teaching performance of primary school teachers in Tsirang Dzongkhag
Get PDFThis study aims to determine the reasons for stress among teachers of primary schools in Tsirang Dzongkhag in Bhutan. The study sought to find out how work-related stress could affect the productivity of teachers of Tsirang Dzongkhag in the dispensation of quality education. The research included both quantitative and qualitative methods. The target population was a hundred and ten (110) teachers from the twelve (12) public schools in Tsirang Dzongkhag. However, a sample of six (6) teachers was selected using random sampling for the qualitative data using Focus Group Discussion (FGD).
Data was gathered from both primary and secondary sources, and descriptive statistics were used to analyse it. The researchers correlated the variables using the Scientific Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) for quantitative data and MAXQAD for qualitative data. The results of the analysis were presented using frequency tables, bar graphs, and pie charts. The study produced a research report on the primary elements that cause stress among teachers in Tsirang Dzongkhag and highlight gaps that need to be filled by other researchers.
This study found that the most common source of occupational stress for teachers was workload, followed by student misbehaviour and frequent policy and program changes. Respondents also proposed reducing workload by maintaining a teacher-student ratio of 1:24, minimising teacher roles and responsibilities with appropriate teaching staff, review of SPMS, IWP, BPST, and leadership commitment to employee-related issues to relieve stress
Analysis of Attributes determining Consumption of Rice in Adamawa State, Nigeria
Get PDFThe study was conducted in Adamawa State, Nigeria between June to November, 2019. The objective of the study was to investigate attributes which rice consumers consider when purchasing a particular type of rice. Specifically, it identifies attributes which local and imported rice consumers consider when choosing a particular rice type and examine the level of significant of these attributes in influencing choice of rice consumed in the area. The population of the study involved all the households in Adamawa State. However, the research used a sample size of 128 House Hold Heads (HHHs) for the work. Primary data was generated from the respondents through a well-structured questionnaire; however, only 120 questionnaires were retrieved and successfully used to accomplish the objective of the study. Logit regression and ordinary least square models were used to analyzed the data. The results revealed that consumers consider price of rice, swelling capacity, odor, suitability of recipe, cooking duration, taste, shape, and cleanness of a particular rice grain as an attribute before choosing a rice type as this was explained by pseudo R2 0.928 obtained from the logit model. The study concludes that, rice attributes such as swelling capacity, suitability of recipe, cleanliness, grain shape, cooking duration and aroma as well as taste significantly had effects in deciding type of rice to consume by rice consumers in Adamawa State as at the period of study. The study recommends that, any rice to be marketed in the area must be clean and free from unpleasant odor, have good shape, good swelling capacity, taste and suitable for preparation of different recipe. This can be achieved through improvement in research and use of modern processing technologies for both production and processing of rice

Recognizing that education is the fundamental link to national progress, the Royal Government of Bhutan has always and will continue to emphasize education as a priority sector, In doing so, through a dynamic professional health system in the country, Bhutan has made enormous strides in the field of education that promote healthy and happy school children. However, as Bhutan steadily proceeds along its development path, substantial challenges remain, including the dietary habits of an adolescent in higher secondary schools. Therefore, this paper intends to explore the dietary habits among adolescents in higher secondary school. And this will contribute empirical data evidence for the policy framers and implements of the nutrition department at higher authority and school level to improve the dietary habits of adolescents
