    Get PDF
The main purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between parental involvement (PI) and academic performance (AP) among junior high school (JHS) students in selected schools in Cebu. This study employed a quantitative correlational design. There were thirty (30) JHS students who participated in this research who were identified using a simple random sampling method. Descriptive statistical tools, particularly mean and standard deviation were used to describe the level of PI and AP of the students. Consequently, the Pearson product-moment coefficient of correlation test was run to assess the correlation between PI and AP among JHS students. Based on the findings, it showed that there is a very low negative correlation between the two variables. Thus, there is no significant correlation between PI and AP among JHS students, r (30) = - .06, p = .74. With these results, the null hypothesis was not rejected since the p-value is greater than the significance level, p > .05. Therefore, PI does not affect the AP of the students. Findings suggest that educational staff and administrators be able to identify other factors that influence the AP of the students. Because the scope of this study is restricted within the perception of students towards PI, it would be better for the future studies to let the parents of the students be involved, and their side will be taken into consideration; new variables in the inquiry – motivation and self-competence among students; and to conduct a qualitative or a mixed-method study for future studies about the topic

About 18.8% of the respondents were full-fledged in their Master\u27s Program. Results of the study showed that teachers\u27 overall level of practice in Curriculum and instruction was denoted as highly practiced. Correlational analyses revealed a significant relationship between the highest educational attainment and general practices of teachers in Curriculum and instructions (r=0.478,p=0.002<0.05). A significant relationship between the provision for the development needs of learners and the Review, improvement, and contextualization of assessment tools for teaching and learning as teachers\u27 practices in the Curriculum and Instruction was also presented (r=0.449,p=0.010<0.05). A significant relationship between the regular collaboration of the learning system and the Review, improvement, and contextualization of assessment tools for teaching and learning (r=0.430,p=0.014< 0.05) was also significant

One of the objectives of the tertiary On-the-Job Training program is to prepare students for professional work as practitioners in their chosen and respective fields. Every university or college is expected to design a content and performance system embodied in a course curriculum to enhance students’ skills and competencies that may be required by firms where they undergo training. The purpose of the study is to analyze the career skills and performance of the students during the conduct of their on-the-job-training program. Descriptive and inferential research designs were utilized to analyze the data gathered. Results showed that the most dominant career skills of the students were the foundational skills, and the least dominant were the business management skills. This demonstrates that participants are more interested with their foundational skills. In testing the relationship, business skills were found to have a significant relationship with the students’ OJT performance. Furthermore, sex and OJT performance were predictors of leadership skills. OJT performance was also found to be a predictor of business management skills and the type of scholarship as a predictor of the business management, people, and leadership skills of the students. The findings of the study might be used to establish or choose instructional styles, approaches, and methodologies. The identified dominant career skills of the students could be a crucial basis for revisions and enhancements of the program course curriculum in alignment with the 21st century skills and competencies needed for graduates who will be entering the workforce

The pandemic has hit every single employee detrimentally, leaving each one feeling worried about how to make ends meet especially in this new normal. Using qualitative measures to probe the living experiences of the young professionals in the highly affected economic sectors of General Santos City - Philippines, eight-core themes were extracted using Moustakas’ (1994) modified van Kaam phenomenological analysis. Results revealed that the economic uncertainty, as well as the psychological and personal consequences brought by the pandemic, have kept young professionals staying in their existing jobs; thus, allowing them to seek multiple employment. It was found out that young professionals developed a certain perspective towards employment, making job security a central aspect in staying committed to their jobs. More so, the participants manifested a dynamic communication style which became one of the essential aspects of expressing concern in the organization and they also regarded family values as a driving force in striving to live. Findings also revealed that it was not the nature of adversity, such as the threat brought by the pandemic, that was most important, but how individuals dealt with it. In this paper, when young professionals faced adversity or frustration in this new normal, protective factors of resilience, work values, commitment and communication helped them survive, recover, and even thrive in the face and wake of misfortunes
