Effectiveness of Giant Mud Crab Shell (Scylla serrata) Chitosan Film in Healing Oral Mucosal Burn Wound of Wistar Rats (Rattus norvegicus)

    No full text
A wound is a condition where the epithelial layer of the skin or mucosa is disrupted due to physical or thermal damage, such as burns wound. In the oral mucosa, it can be caused by contact with substances at high temperatures (heat) and very low temperatures (cold). Although these wounds can heal on their own, they take a relatively long time, are uncomfortable, and can lead to other complications. Giant mud crab shells are a natural ingredient that contains the highest amount of chitin, which can be processed into chitosan, thus having potential in wound healing. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of giant mud crab chitosan film in promoting the healing of oral mucosal burns in Wistar rats. This type of research is s truly experimental using 30 male Wistar rats as samples which were divided into 5 groups, namely the positive control group using aloclair gel, 1% chitosan film, 2% chitosan film, 3% chitosan film, and negative control using CMC-Na placebo gel. The study was conducted by observing erythema, edema, and wound closure on days 1, 3 and 7. Based on the results of the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney test, the use of 1%, 2%, and 3% chitosan films was effective in healing burns in the oral mucosa of Wistar rats.103 pagesSkripsi Sarjan

The Effect of Compensation on Employee Performance with Work Motivation as a Moderating Variable at Hotel Madani Medan

    No full text
The hospitality industry requires employees to perform optimally in order to maintain service quality. One key factor influencing employee performance is compensation. However, the effectiveness of compensation in improving performance also depends on employees’ work motivation. This study aims to examine the effect of compensation on employee performance, with work motivation as a moderating variable among employees of Hotel Madani Medan. This research used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The participants consisted of 70 employees from various divisions of Hotel Madani Medan. Three psychological scales were utilized in this study: compensation, work motivation, and employee performance, adapted from the theories of Kreitner & Kinicki (2014), Umar (2003), and Koopmans et al. (2014). Data were analyzed using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) technique. The results indicated that compensation and work motivation had a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The better compensation and the higher work motivation, the greater improvement in employee performance. On the other hand, work motivation did not moderate the relationship between compensation and performance, indicating that the effect of compensation on performance occurred independently, without being strengthened or weakened by employees’ level of work motivation.116 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Determinants of Financial Management Evaluation of Legal Entity State Universities in Indonesia: An Empirical Study of the Internal Supervisory Unit of Legal Entity State Universities

    No full text
This study aims to empirically examine the determinants of financial management evaluation in Indonesian Legal Entity State Universities (PTN BH), focusing on the influence of internal control effectiveness, internal audit quality, internal auditor auditee relationship, strategic planning, strategic mission, and institutional ethical culture, as well as the moderating role of top management commitment. The research is grounded in the importance of strengthening accountable and performance oriented financial governance within the autonomy framework granted to PTN BH. Quantitative approach was employed through a survey of 276 respondents from the Internal Supervisory Unit (SPI) at PTN BH across Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that all independent variables positively and significantly affect the financial management performance of PTN BH. Among them, institutional ethical culture emerges as the most dominant determinant in enhancing financial management effectiveness. Furthermore, top management commitment significantly moderates the relationship between internal control effectiveness, internal audit quality, strategic planning, and institutional ethical culture with financial performance. However, it does not significantly moderate the influence of the internal auditor–auditee relationship and strategic mission. These findings reinforce Institutional Theory, emphasizing the role of organizational values and culture in shaping financial management practices, while also supporting the application of the COSO Framework, Goal Setting Theory, and Attribution Theory within the financial governance of higher education public sector institutions in Indonesia.541 PagesDisertasi Dokto

Chest X-Ray Findings Based on the Types of Acyanotic Congenital Heart Disease in Children at H. Adam Malik General Hospital

    No full text
Background:Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a structural abnormality of the heart present since intrauterine life and accounts for approximately 30–45% of all congenital anomalies. The acyanotic congenital heart diseases, including atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD), and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), typically cause a left-to-right shunt without cyanosis. Chest X-ray (CXR) remains an important initial diagnostic modality to evaluate cardiomegaly, pulmonary vascular markings, and cardiac silhouette shape, particularly in settings with limited access to echocardiography. Objective:To describe chest X-ray findings based on the types of acyanotic congenital heart disease in children hospitalized at H. Adam Malik General Hospital, Medan. Methods:This was a retrospective descriptive study using medical record data of pediatric patients diagnosed with acyanotic CHD who had complete echocardiography and chest X-ray results at H. Adam Malik General Hospital during the period of June–December 2024. Samples were selected using a simple random sampling method, with a total of 96 patients. Data were analyzed descriptively using SPSS version 25 and presented in frequency distribution tables and percentages .Results:Of the 96 patients, the majority were female (56.3%) with a mean age of 6.05 ± 4.81 years. The most common type of CHD was VSD (41.7%), followed by PDA (26.0%) and ASD (24.0%). Radiological findings showed cardiomegaly in 34.4% of patients, increased pulmonary vascular markings (plethora) in 58.3%, and abnormal cardiac silhouette in 35.4%. The largest defect size group accounted for 49.0%. VSD was predominantly associated with cardiomegaly and increased pulmonary vascularity .Conclusion:The most frequent chest X-ray findings among children with acyanotic CHD at H. Adam Malik General Hospital were cardiomegaly and increased pulmonary vascular markings, particularly in patients with VSD. Chest X-ray remains a valuable initial screening tool for detecting congenital heart disease prior to echocardiographic confirmation.72 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

    No full text
Acid value is a crucial factor in determining the quality of free fatty acids in oleochemical products. A high acid value indicates a high content of free fatty acids, which can reduce product quality. The objective of this study is to analyze the acid value (AV) of Palm Stearin Oil Fatty Acid using the alkalimetric titration method at the laboratory of PT. Soci Mas Medan. The method used involves titrating the sample, which has been dissolved in neutral ethanol, with 0.1 N NaOH solution and the addition of phenolphthalein indicator. The results showed that the acid values from four consecutive tests were 214.14 mgKOH/g, 205.63 mgKOH/g, 202.75 mgKOH/g, and 204.04 mgKOH/g, respectively. All analysis results fall within the quality standard range set by PT. SOCI MAS Medan, which is 196–216 mgKOH/g. The quality of Palm Stearin Oil Fatty Acid is still suitable for use in production processes. Sitolu Science Center: Designing a Science Center in Laguboti with a Neo-Vernacular Architecture Approach

    No full text
The development of science and technology in the modern era demands educational facilities that offer interactive and contextual learning. This thesis proposes the design of a Science Center in Laguboti as a facility that functions not only as a center for information and experimentation but also as an inclusive and inspiring public space. The design adopts a neo vernacular architectural approach to integrate local values into a contemporary form. In this context, neo-vernacular is interpreted as the reinterpretation of traditional Toba Batak elements—such as roof forms, gorga patterns, and spatial balance—into a modern architectural language. This approach aims to establish a strong and contextual identity while bridging two important aspects of community development: technological advancement and cultural preservation. One of the main philosophies guiding this design is the concept of balance found in the Gorga Sitompi motif, which is reflected in zoning, building orientation, use of local materials, and aesthetic choices. By combining educational functions with cultural expression, the Science Center is expected to become both an educational and cultural landmark in the Toba region, promoting a generation that is intellectually capable and culturally grounded.129 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Management of Services and Nursing Care for COPD Patients with Sleep Pattern Disturbances through Autogenic Relaxation in the Inpatient Ward Rindu A5, Haji Adam Malik General Teaching Hospital, Medan

    No full text
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by progressive and irreversible airflow obstruction, especially during expiration, as a result of chronic inflammatory responses to exposure to toxic particles or gases. This report aims to apply the nursing care concept to a patient with COPD. The report is conducted using a case study method through the nursing process approach, which includes: assessment, data analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Based on data analysis, three priority nursing diagnoses were identified in Mr. M: ineffective airway clearance related to mucus hypersecretion in the airways, disturbed sleep pattern related to lack of sleep control, and activity intolerance related to an imbalance between oxygen supply and demand, as well as fatigue. Following the nursing care provided, the problem of ineffective airway clearance was found to be unresolved, as evidenced by the presence of adventitious breath sounds (rhonchi and wheezing), shallow breathing, and prolonged expiration. The issue of disturbed sleep pattern was resolved, with improved sleep quality reported. However, activity intolerance remained unresolved due to the patient's persistent shortness of breath, making it difficult to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) independently. The main management approach for this COPD case focused on the provision of non-pharmacological therapy, specifically autogenic relaxation therapy, aimed at addressing the patient's sleep disturbances.140 PagesKarya Tulis Profes
