The Use of Maltooligosaccharide from Purple Sweet Potato as Fat Replacer in Making Low-Fat Ice Cream
The prevalence of overnutrition in Indonesia had increased, presenting a challenge for the food industry to reformulate products that meet specific dietary and health needs. Ice cream was a popular product widely consumed by various segments of society. This research was aimed to determine the effect of using purple sweet potato maltooligosaccharide as fat replacer on the physical, chemical, and sensory characteristics of low-fat ice cream. This research used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with a single factor, namely the addition of purple sweet potato maltooligosaccharide (M): (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%).
The results showed that the use of purple sweet potato maltooligosaccharide as fat replacer had a highly significant effect (P0,05) on the hedonic parameters of aroma. Low-fat ice cream with the best quality was determined using the Topsis (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method, namely low-fat ice cream with the use of 50% purple sweet potato maltooligosaccharide which had an overrun value of 17,45%, melting rate 1452,75 seconds, anthocyanin content 14,28 mg/100g, fat content 3,35%, antioxidant activity 75,47% and sensory characteristics that can be accepted by panellists.110 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

Social Solidarity among Online Motorcycle Taxi Drivers within the Community (A Case Study of the Sahabat Grab Matic Medan Community)
This study aims to analyze the forms of social solidarity among online motorcycle taxi drivers in the Grab Matic Friends Community in Medan. The background of the study is based on the importance of solidarity as a social bond that supports the sustainability of drivers' work amidst challenges such as competition, income uncertainty, and risks on the road. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of 14 informants consisting of administrators, members, users, and Grab app providers. The results show that social solidarity in this community is formed through two main patterns according to Emile Durkheim's theory: mechanical solidarity and organic solidarity. Mechanical solidarity is evident in similarities in profession, values, and experience, which encourages a sense of shared destiny, togetherness, and practices of mutual assistance, such as moral support, fundraising, and emergency assistance on the road. Organic solidarity is reflected in the division of labor and interdependence among members based on expertise or services taken, for example between passengers, food, or other services. The presence of the community not only strengthens social ties but also improves the welfare of members through the exchange of information, emotional support, and social activities. This study confirms that social solidarity is an important asset in maintaining job sustainability and creating a harmonious work environment for online motorcycle taxi drivers.203 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
Effectiveness of Electoral Information Dissemination in 2024 within the Environment of KPU Kota Medan
The dissemination of electoral information is a process of delivering messages
containing facts or data that are in accordance with clear and correct realities regarding
the stages of electoral implementation from the central General Election Commission
to implementers in the field. The purpose of this research is to determine the
effectiveness of the dissemination of electoral information in 2024 in the environment
of the General Election Commission of Medan City. This research used a quantitative
approach with a survey method through open questionnaires, and observation with 19
employees and officers who were respondents at the General Election Commission of
Medan City. The data collection technique in this research was carried out by
distributing questionnaires using Google Form. The theory used was Duncan’s
effectiveness theory with three main indicators, namely goal achievement, integration,
and adaptation. The results of the research showed that the dissemination of electoral
information in 2024 at the General Election Commission of Medan City was included
in the fairly effective category with an average percentage of 64%. In the aspect of
goal achievement, the level of effectiveness reached 61%, which showed that the
information delivered by the General Election Commission was able to reach the target
and support the implementation of tasks. In the aspect of integration, the result
obtained was 63%, which meant that coordination between divisions had been
established although it was not yet fully optimal. Meanwhile, the adaptation aspect
obtained a percentage of 67%, in which the utilization of social media such as
WhatsApp and Instagram sufficiently helped the dissemination of information, but was
still constrained by limited facilities and infrastructure as well as variations in
employees’ abilities to use technology. Thus, the effectiveness of the dissemination of
electoral information in 2024 in the environment of the General Election Commission
of Medan City is considered fairly effective.88 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
Collaborative Governance In Handling People With Mental Disosrders (ODGJ) In Medan
This research aims to describe the implementation of Collaborative
Governance between the community and the government in handling People with
Mental Disorders (ODGJ) in Medan City. So there is a need for collaboration
between governments to deal with People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) as listed in
the 1945 Constitution. Based on data, the number of ODGJ in Medan City shows a
significant increase every year, with various challenges such as lack of public
understanding, limited health facilities, and social stigma towards people with mental
disorders.
This research refers to four indicators of the success of Collaborative
Governance according to Ansell and Gash (2007), namely: institutional design,
facilitative leadership, collaboration process, and initial conditions. The research
results show that collaboration between stakeholders is not yet completely
synergistic, especially in building trust, effective communication and clear division of
responsibilities. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach
to describe the situation, conditions and collaboration process involving the Health
Service, Social Service and community institutions in dealing with schizophrenia
problems.
The results of this research based on the indicators of Ansell and Gash
(2007) show that the collaborative governance carried out by the Social Service and
the Medan City Health Service is not optimal. This can be seen from the lack of
clarity regarding the regulations and functional tasks that must be carried out. So
far, in handling schizophrenia in the city of Medan, the two departments have always
carried out their duties independently or at each agency. There has not been good
cooperation between the two departments.159 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
Analysis of The Availability of Facilities and Infrastructure of The Library and Archives Office of Serdang Bedagai Regency
This research aims to analyze the availability of facilities and infrastructure at the
Library and Archives Office of Serdang Bedagai Regency in supporting library
services to the community. Adequate facilities and infrastructure are important
factors in improving the quality of services and the reading interest of the
community. This research used a qualitative descriptive approach with data
collection techniques through observation, interview, and documentation. The
results of this research showed that in general the library already had
infrastructure and basic facilities that quite supported the operational activities of
the library, such as bookshelves, computers, AC, and a comfortable reading room.
However, several shortcomings were still found when compared to the Regulation
of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia Number 2 of 2024
concerning National Standards of the Republic, including the lack of magazine
racks, audio-visual racks, reading tables, and the unavailability of journal racks,
visual impairment reading tools, and internet access. In addition, the library
location which was less strategic also became an obstacle in reaching the wider
community and the building size was not yet adequate based on the local
population. Therefore, the improvement of facilities and infrastructure gradually
as well as the development of technology-based and mobility-based services is
necessary so that the library can function optimally as a community literacy center.80 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
Community Empowerment in Kampung MATFA Indonesia through the Practice of Compassion Teachings by Tuan Guru and Tuwan Imam.
This research investigates the community empowerment practices in
Kampung MATFA Indonesia, a unique spiritual and communal village located in
Telaga Said Village, Sei Lepan Subdistrict, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. The
empowerment model in this community is shaped by the compassionate teachings
of Y.M. Tuan Guru and is institutionalized through the leadership of his
successor, Tuwan Imam. The study applies a qualitative descriptive method, using
data collection techniques such as participant observation, in-depth interviews
with key informants, and documentation review.
The findings show that Kampung MATFA adopts a holistic empowerment
strategy that integrates spiritual, social, and economic dimensions through a
compassion-centered framework. The leadership of Tuwan Imam is central to the
community‟s daily life, guiding activities that range from religious education and
decision-making
collective worship to economic sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, livestock,
small-scale industries, and the management of a communal bottled water
company (HANICHA). Social institutions like the Baitul Maal, communal
kitchens, and educational programs for children and adults further reinforce this
system of empowerment.
The community employs the Asset-Based Community Development
(ABCD) approach by mobilizing internal resources, talents, and values within the
community, rather than relying on external assistance. This approach is
complemented by Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) techniques that emphasize inclusive through regular musyawarah (community deliberation), collective planning, and participatory evaluation. Moreover, the study also addresses external perceptions of the community—ranging from admiration for its unity and self-reliance to criticisms of authoritarianism or
indoctrination—offering a nuanced analysis of local spiritual leadership in a
modern context.
The research concludes that Kampung MATFA demonstrates a model of
alternative empowerment that blends spiritual devotion, strong leadership,
cultural values, and cooperative economics. The institutionalization of
compassion as a guiding principle has enabled the development of a self
sustaining, harmonious society that may serve as a reference for culturally rooted
community development elsewhere.113 PagesSkripsi Sarjan

(12,512%). The appropriate campaign media to be used in the Waste Awareness Environmental
Campaign at USU for lecturers, students, and employees are posters and banners.131 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
Iskandar Muda Hotel and Mall
The rapid development of the tourism sector in Indonesia has had a significant impact on the national economy, including in the city of Medan which has experienced an increase in the number of tourists. This drives the need for accommodation facilities that are not only functional, but also have high aesthetic value. Jalan Iskandar Muda, as a strategic area with high land prices, has great potential for the development of mixed-use concept hotels. This concept combines various functions in one building, such as accommodation, shopping centers and entertainment, in order to optimize land use and construction cost efficiency.
In designing this mixed-use hotel, integration between function and aesthetics is the main aspect that is considered. The application of modern architecture was chosen because it emphasizes space efficiency, material innovation and clarity of function, while also being in harmony with the character of the surrounding environment. With this approach, the hotel design not only meets the needs of tourists and local communities, but also creates visual appeal and increases the value of the area as a whole.168Skripsi Sarjan
