Diagnostic Accuracy of the Hearing Handicap Inventory for Adults–Screening Version (HHIA-S) as A Screening Tool for Hearing Loss Among Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Personnel
Introduction: Hearing loss is a common occupational health problem among military personnel due to repeated exposure to high-intensity noise. Pure tone audiometry is the gold standard for diagnosis but is often limited by resource availability. Therefore, a simple and accurate screening tool such as the Hearing Handicap Inventory for Adults–Screening version (HHIA-S) is required. Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of the HHIA-S questionnaire as a screening tool for hearing loss among Indonesian National Armed Forces personnel. Methods: This cross-sectional analytic study involved 44 enlisted soldiers at Yonif 100/Prajurit Setia, Binjai. All participants underwent pure tone audiometry and completed the HHIA-S questionnaire. Diagnostic accuracy was evaluated using ROC curve analysis. Results: Hearing loss was identified in 79.5% of participants, all of which were sensorineural. The AUC was 0.953 (p < 0.001). The optimal cut-off score was ≥10, with sensitivity 86.1%, specificity 87.5%, and accuracy 86.4%. Figure of Speech in Edgar Allan Poe’s Selected poems
Background: Figure of speech is a style of language that uses words or phrases
with meanings that are not literal.
Research objectives: This study aims to determine the types of figurative
language used in Edgar Allan Poe's poems.
Method: This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by identifying the types
of figurative language such as metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, irony,
symbolism, metonymy, and paradox.
Results: The most dominant figurative language used is hyperbole. This
dominates because humans like to exaggerate to make themselves seem more
attractive to others. That is why Edgar Allan Poe's poems contain hyperbole to
beautify poems of sadness, loss, death, and love and give a dramatic impression
full of emotion.
Conclusion: One of the most dominant figurative languages in Edgar Allan Poe's
poems is hyperbole. It dominates the others with the number of data found being
nine (1.8%). Hyperbole is often found in poems that contain sadness, love, loss,
death, admiration for the beauty of nature, feelings of sadness since childhood,
and differences. Which can be found in selected poems by Edgar Allan Poe

Background: Conflict is the main element that brings a film's storyline to life and drives it forward.
Objective: This study aims to describe the conflicts experienced by the main characters in the film It Ends With Us and classify these conflicts based on Nurgiyantoro's theory (2013).
Method: This study uses a qualitative descriptive method by analyzing dialogues, actions, visual expressions, and interactions between the main character and other characters.
Result: Lily Bloom is depicted as experiencing internal and external conflicts that influence her character development.

Characterization and Application of Lignin-based Super-Hydrophobic Coatings on Particleboard
This study aims to analyze the characteristics and application of lignin-based super-hydrophobic coatings on particleboard quality. The analysis was conducted using FTIR, XRD, and Py-GCMS spectroscopy to observe the chemical interaction between materials. FTIR results indicated the interaction between lignin and PU through a shift in absorbance peak, while XRD and Py-GCMS patterns indicated changes in structure and chemical composition due to the mixing of lignin and PU. The physical and mechanical properties of the boards were tested through the parameters of density, moisture content, water absorption, thickness swelling, modulus of elasticity (MOE), modulus of fracture (MOR) and compressive strength. Density ranged from 0,68 - 0,69 g/cm³, moisture content from 3,17 – 3,40%, and water absorption from 62,17 – 63,74%. The highest thickness swelling reached 21,52% and the lowest 20,16%. MOE values ranged from 2262,16 – 2490,53 MPa, MOR between 13,54 – 15,91 MPa and compressive strength of 0,01 MPa. Statistical analysis showed that some parameters were significantly affected by coating type, while others were not. Overall, the samples meet the JIS A 5908 (2003) standard.44 PagesSkripsi Sarjan
The First 1,000 Days of Life (HPK), Spanning Pregnancy until a Child Reaches Two Years of Age, Represent the “Golden Period” for Preventing Stunting
The prevalence of stunting in West Aceh Regency was 27.4% (high category) and increased in 2022 to 30.4% (very high category). By 2023, the prevalence continued to rise, reaching 33.4%. The first 1,000 days of life (HPK), spanning pregnancy until a child reaches two years of age, represent the “golden period” for preventing stunting. Although various government strategies have been introduced, field implementation often encounters challenges, highlighting the need to evaluate existing strategies and to design more integrated, comprehensive, and context-specific approaches. The general objective of this study was to design stunting prevention strategies during the first 1,000 days of life in West Aceh Regency that optimize stunting mitigation efforts. The study employed a convergen mixed-methods design, beginning with a quantitative phase followed by a qualitative phase. The quantitative analysis used Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with a Partial Least Square (PLS) approach. The study population consisted of 3,785 mothers with children aged 0–24 months. Sampling was conducted using Isaac and Michael’s table with a 5% error margin, resulting in a sample size of 320 mothers. Quantitative findings revealed that factors influencing stunting in West Aceh Regency included exclusive breastfeeding for 0–24 months (R²=0.426; Q²=0.412), parenting during pregnancy (R²=0.266; Q² = 0.247), and child-rearing practices for children aged 0–24 months (R²=0.396; Q²=0.385). Qualitative findings confirmed that exclusive breastfeeding had a significant impact on reducing stunting and was identified as the most influential factor. The effective stunting prevention strategy during the first 1,000 days of life in West Aceh Regency is an integrative approach, involving: (1) the pregnancy period (270 days) through maternal care practices, (2) the neonatal period of 0–6 months (180 days) through exclusive breastfeeding, and (3) the period of 6–24 months (550 days) through optimal child-rearing practices. The Effect of KNO3 Fertilizer Dosage on Two Melon Varieties (Cucumis melo L.) on Fruit Production and Sweetness Level
Melon (Cucumis melo L.) is one of the horticultural commodities
originating from the Cucurbitaceae family. The increasing demand for melon
commodities and problems often encountered in melon cultivation, including the
bland taste of the fruit, have led to the need to increase production by using
superior seeds and proper fertilization. This study aims to determine the effect of
KNO3 fertilizer doses on two melon varieties on production and fruit sweetness
levels. This study was conducted on Jl. Ampera VI No. 31 E, at an altitude of 20
meters above sea level with coordinates 3° 36′ 45″ N, 98° 40′ 32″ E, Medan Timur
District, Medan City, North Sumatra from February to June 2025. This study used
a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 2 treatment factors and 4 replications.
The first factor was the variety (Pertiwi; Glamour) and the second factor was the
KNO3 fertilizer dosage (0; 4; 6; 8/plant). The results showed that the use of two
varieties had no significant effect on all observed parameters. The application of
4 grams of KNO3 fertilizer per plant significantly affected fruit weight per plant,
fruit diameter, and fruit flesh thickness. The interaction between variety treatment

Patterns of Blunt Force Injuries in Child Abuse at Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital, Medan City, 2023-2024
Background. Violence against children is still common and can have long-term impacts on physical and psychological health. One form of violence that is often found is blunt trauma, namely injuries caused by impact or pressure from a blunt object. Examination of this injury pattern is important in forensic medicine practice because it plays a role in medical assessment and supports the legal process. Aims. This study aims to describe the injury patterns due to blunt force trauma in children examined at the Department of Forensic Medicine and Medicolegal Sciences, Dr. Pirngadi Regional Hospital, Medan during 2023-2024. Methods. The study used a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were obtained from medical records of forensic examinations of surviving child victims of violence, then analyzed based on gender, type of injury, location of injury, and degree of injury. Results. In 2023, there were 148 cases, with 68.9% male victims and 31.1% female. In 2024, there were 58 cases found, consisting of 67.2% male and 32.8% female. Bruises were the most common injury in both years, followed by lacerations and abrasions. The most common injury affected the face. Most victims suffered minor injuries. Conclusion. The injury pattern shows a predominance of bruising on the face, with the majority of victims being male and the injuries being minor. Legal Analysis of Termination of Employment Disputes Based on an Employment Agreement in A Fixed-Term Employment Agreement Between Employers and Workers (Study of Supreme Court Decision No. 243 K/Pdt.Sus-Phi/2024)
The work environment and disputes are two inseparable aspects. Disputes between employers and employees that cannot be resolved wisely by both parties may lead to termination of employment (PHK). In the case of a Fixed-Term Employment Agreement (PKWT), termination occurs when the agreed-upon contract period ends. However, if termination is carried out by one party before the contract period expires, it can cause losses to the other party, particularly for employees who are economically in a weaker position compared to employers. In Case No. 243 K/PDT.SUS-PHI/2024, the company terminated an employee without providing an explanation or compensation as stipulated in Article 62 of the Manpower Law. The purpose of this study is to examine the legal standing of employment agreements in relation to termination of employment under legislation and to analyze legal protections for employees affected by unilateral termination based on an employment agreement. Additionally, it evaluates the legal considerations of the Supreme Court in Decision No. 243 K/PDT.SUS-PHI/2024 concerning termination of employment under a fixed-term employment agreement between a company and an employee. This study employs a normative juridical research method. The data collection technique involves a legislative approach, referring to Kitab Undang undang hukum Perdata, Undang-Undang No. 13 on Manpower, and Undang Undang No. 2 tahun 2004 on Industrial Relations Dispute Resolution. The results of this study indicate that the legal standing of an employment agreement in cases of termination of employment by a company holds greater authority than general labor legislation. Consequently, if an employee is terminated based on reasons agreed upon in the employment contract, such termination is considered lawful. Legal protection for employees who are unilaterally terminated under a fixed-term employment agreement includes seeking resolution through bipartite negotiations. If this fails, the process continues with tripartite mediation, followed by proceedings in the Industrial Relations Court. The Supreme Court's Decision No. 243 K/PDT.SUS-PHI/2024 is deemed appropriate; however, its legal considerations were incomplete and unclear. Architectural Design of Wisma Kolaborasi Building in Medan City
Medan City, as a center of economic growth and the creative industry, requires collaborative spaces capable of accommodating the activities of communities, startups, and creative industry actors. The limited availability of representative and flexible coworking spaces poses a challenge in supporting the development of a thriving and inclusive creative ecosystem. Wisma Kolaborasi Kota Medan is designed as an adaptive, functional, and sustainable architectural solution. The design approach focuses on spatial flexibility to accommodate various user needs—ranging from individual work, group collaboration, to community activities—while prioritizing comfort and efficiency. The architectural concept draws inspiration from the kantan flower (Medinilla speciosa), a native flora of North Sumatra that symbolizes growth, local elegance, and harmony with nature. These values are embodied in the building’s massing, which resembles blooming petals, as well as in vertical elements serving as sun shading that reflect the natural structure of the flower. The design also incorporates leaf-inspired forms as symbols of regeneration and ecological harmony, expressed through an organic façade and dynamic structural elements. Building materials are selected based on sustainability principles, including the use of local resources, recycled materials, and environmentally friendly construction systems. Pathogenicity Test of Metarhizium anisopliae Fungus as a Biological Agents in Controlling Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) on Rice Plants (Oryza sativa L.)
Rice plants (Oryza sativa L.) are the main source of carbohydrates for a large portion of the world's population, especially in Asia. One of the obstacles to reducing rice production is the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), an insect known as polyphagous, which has the ability to attack various types of plants. Biological control can be carried out using biological control agents in the form of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae as a biological agent in controlling fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) pests on rice plants. This research was conducted at the Plant Pest and Disease Laboratory, Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan, at an altitude of ± 32 meters above sea level from February 2025 to August 2025. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) non-factorial with 6 levels of M. anisopliae conidial density treatments, namely P0: Control, P1: 10⁵ conidia/ml, P2: 10⁶ conidia/ml, P3: 10⁷ conidia/ml, P4: 10⁸ conidia/ml, P5: 10⁹ conidia/ml, with four replications, resulting in 24 experimental units. The research results showed that the application of the entomopathogenic fungus M. anisopliae was able to increase the mortality of S. frugiperda larvae compared to the control treatment, with the peak of death occurring 4 days after application. Symptoms of S. frugiperda larvae infected with M. anisopliae fungus are characterized by larvae hardening, color changing to dark green covering the body, then turning black and stiff several days after infection.53 pagesSkripsi Sarjan
