Combination of Searches for Resonant Higgs Boson Pair Production Using Formula Presented Collisions at Formula Presented With the Atlas Detector
A combination of searches for a new resonance decaying into a Higgs boson pair is presented, using up to Formula Presented of Formula Presented collision data at Formula Presented recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The combination includes searches performed in three decay channels: Formula Presented, Formula Presented, and Formula Presented. No excess above the expected Standard Model background is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs originating from the decay of a narrow scalar resonance with mass in the range 251 GeV-5 TeV. The observed (expected) limits are in the range 0.96-600 fb (1.2-390 fb). The limits are interpreted in the type-I two-Higgs-doublet model and the minimal supersymmetric standard model, and constrain parameter space not previously excluded by other searches. © 2024 CERN, for the ATLAS Collaboration.Australian Research Council, ARC; Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique, CNRST; Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, FCT; Cooperative Research Centres, Australian Government Department of Industry, CRCs; National Stroke Foundation, NSF; Science and Technology Facilities Council, STFC; H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, MSCA; Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek, NWO; Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, MOST; Israel Science Foundation, ISF; Leverhulme Trust; Baden-Württemberg Stiftung, BWS; Neubauer Family Foundation, NFF; Staatssekretariat für Bildung, Forschung und Innovation, SBFI; Javna Agencija za Raziskovalno Dejavnost RS, ARRS; Generalitat de Catalunya; Instituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, INFN; Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft, BMWFW; Austrian Science Fund, FWF; Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo, ANID; Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF; Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft, HGF; Danmarks Grundforskningsfond, DNRF; Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico, CNPq; Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT; Canarie; Horizon 2020 Framework Programme, H2020; Göran Gustafssons Stiftelser; European Commission, EC; Ministarstvo Prosvete, Nauke i Tehnološkog Razvoja, MPNTR; U.S. Department of Energy, USDOE; European Cooperation in Science and Technology, COST; International Council of Shopping Centers, ICSC; Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo, FAPESP; Institutul de Fizică Atomică, IFA; Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, NSERC; Nella and Leon Benoziyo Center for Neurological Diseases, Weizmann Institute of Science; Irish Rugby Football Union, IRFU; Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS; Defence Science Institute, DSI; Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica, ANPCyT; Minerva Foundation; National Research Foundation, NRF; Royal Society of South Australia, RSSA; Generalitat Valenciana, GVA; CERN; Ministerstvo Školství, Mládeže a Tělovýchovy, MŠMT; National Research Council Canada, NRC; Brookhaven National Laboratory, BNL; Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, AvH; Multiple Sclerosis Scientific Research Foundation, MSSRF; Caring Futures Institute, Flinders University, CFI; British Columbia Knowledge Development Fund, BCKDF; Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, MEXT; Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej, NAWA: PPN/PPO/2020/1/00002/U/00001; Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej, NAWA; Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, JSPS: JP21H05085, 22KK0227, JP22H04944, JP22H01227; Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, JSPS; Narodowe Centrum Nauki, NCN: UMO-2019/34/E/ST2/00393, 2021/42/E/ST2/00350, 2022/47/B/ST2/03059, UMO-2022/47/O/ST2/00148, UMO-2020/37/B/ST2/01043, UMO-2021/40/C/ST2/00187; Narodowe Centrum Nauki, NCN; Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, MCIN: PID2021-125273NB, RYC2019-028510-I, PCI2022-135018-2, RYC2020-030254-I; Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, MCIN; Fundación BBVA, FBBVA: LEO22-1-603; Fundación BBVA, FBBVA; IN2P3-CNRS; Center for Advancing Research Impact in Society, ARIS: J1-3010; Center for Advancing Research Impact in Society, ARIS; SCI/013; European Research Council, ERC: 101089007, 948254; European Research Council, ERC; CC-IN2P3; 2014-2021; Norges Forskningsråd: RCN-314472; Norges Forskningsråd; CHIST-ERA-19-XAI-00; Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG: DFG—CR 312/5-2, DFG—469666862; Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG; ANR-11-LABX-0012; Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico, FONDECYT: 1230987, 1210400, 1190886; Fondo Nacional de Desarrollo Científico y Tecnológico, FONDECYT; Agence Nationale de la Recherche, ANR: ANR-20-CE31-0013, ANR-21-CE31-0013, ANR-21-CE31-0022; Agence Nationale de la Recherche, ANR; CIDEGENT/2019/027, CIDEGENT/2019/023; Schweizerischer Nationalfonds zur Förderung der Wissenschaftlichen Forschung, SNF: RPG-2020-004, SNSF—PCEFP2_194658; Schweizerischer Nationalfonds zur Förderung der Wissenschaftlichen Forschung, SNF; 21/SCI/017; Knut och Alice Wallenbergs Stiftelse: KAW 2017.0100, KAW 2018.0157, KAW 2018.0458, KAW 2019.0447; Knut och Alice Wallenbergs Stiftelse; National Natural Science Foundation of China, NSFC: 12275265, NSFC—12175119, NSFC-12075060; National Natural Science Foundation of China, NSFC; European Regional Development Fund, ERDF: IDIFEDER/2018/048, LCF/BQ/PI20/11760025; European Regional Development Fund, ERDF; Vetenskapsrådet, VR: VR 2022-03845, VR 2022-04683, VR 2018-00482, 2021-03651; Vetenskapsrådet, V
Fictional Narratives and the Migrant Experience: Exploring Migration Experience in Italy Through the Voices of Somali Women Writers
This thesis analyses fictional works of Somali migrant women in Italy through postcolonial and poststructuralist feminist lenses. The analysed texts are Far From Mogadishu (1994) by Shirin Ramzanali Fazel, Little Mother (2011) by Cristina Ali Farah, and Adua (2015) by Igiaba Scego. The thesis aims to uncover the ways fiction reflects the experiences of immigrants and discuss the implications of migration policies in the fictional works. It draws on the theoretical and conceptual insights of the fields of Migration Studies, Political Science, International Relations, and Literature. This interdisciplinary approach provides a platform for engaging with the complexities of migration and the multifaceted identities it engenders. The analysed narratives, which are based on historical and political events, promote a more in-depth comprehension of the migrant experience. They also act as advocates for a more individualistic perspective within the field of Migration Studies alongside broader structural analysis. This research contributes to the literature on migration, gender, and postcolonialism while emphasizing how critical it is to give marginalized communities' voices more weight in literary discourse.Bu tez, İtalya'daki Somalili göçmen kadınların kurgusal eserlerini sömürgecilik sonrası ve yapısalcılık sonrası feminist mercekler aracılığıyla analiz etmektedir Analiz edllen metinler Shirin Ramzanali Fazel'in Far From Mogadishu (1994), Cristna Ali Farah'ın Little Mother (2011) ve Iglaba Scego'nun Adua (2015) adlı metinleridir. Fundamentals of Energy-Efficient Wireless Links: Optimal Ratios and Scaling Behaviors
In this paper, we examine the energy efficiency (EE) of a base station (BS) with multiple antennas. We use a state-of-the-art power consumption model, taking into account the passive and active parts of the transceiver circuitry, including the effects of radiated power, signal processing, and passive consumption. The paper treats the transmit power, bandwidth, and number of antennas as the optimization variables. We provide novel closed-form solutions for the optimal ratios of power per unit bandwidth and power per transmit antenna. We present a novel algorithm that jointly optimizes these variables to achieve maximum EE, while fulfilling constraints on the variable ranges. We also discover a new relationship between the radiated power and the passive transceiver power consumption. We provide analytical insight into whether using maximum power or bandwidth is optimal and how many antennas a BS should utilize. This work was supported by the FFL18-0277 grant from the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research [FFL18-0277
The Environmental Rule of Law and the Protection of Human Rights Defenders: Law, Society, Technology, and Markets
Environmental human rights defenders (EHRDs) play a key role in the realization of the environmental rule of law and in strengthening social and ecological sustainability. States have the duty to protect and empower the EHRDs, while businesses, investors, and financial institutions also have responsibilities to respect human rights. Although the literature on human rights defenders is comprehensive, the article offers a theoretical analysis of the challenges facing the EHRDs by using Lawrence Lessig's New Chicago School approach to explore the opportunities for bridging the gap between the theory and practice concerning the protection of EHRDs. The article endeavors to contribute to the literature by methodologically explaining the importance of legal regulation and State intervention for creating a safe and just space for the activities of the EHRDs. It demonstrates the effects of the four modalities in Lessig's theory-i.e. the law, the social norms (culture), the architecture (technology), and the market-on the behavior of EHRDs, and ultimately on democracies while emphasizing the power of law as one of these modalities and being one of the imperative elements of the environmental rule of law. It argues that the adoption of international agreements, laws and policies regulating culture, technology, and markets, would empower civil society and encourage broad participation in the decision-making processes both within the States and the businesses to ensure accountable, transparent, and inclusive governance. It concludes that strengthened legal protection mechanisms for the rights of the rights' defenders is an urgent need to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the environmental rule of law.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye (TUBITAK)Open access funding provided by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkiye (TUBITAK)

Material Modeling and Recent Findings in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Simulations
Background and objective: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has significantly transformed the management of aortic valve (AV) diseases, presenting a minimally invasive option compared to traditional surgical valve replacement. Computational simulations of TAVI become more popular and offer a detailed investigation by employing patient-specific models. On the other hand, employing accurate material modeling procedures and applying basic modeling steps are crucial to determining reliable numerical results. Therefore, this review aims to outline the basic modeling approaches for TAVI, focusing on material modeling and geometry extraction, as well as summarizing the important findings from recent computational studies to guide future research in the field. Methods: This paper explains the basic steps and important points in setting up and running TAVI simulations. The material properties of the leaflets, valves, stents, and tissues utilized in TAVI simulations are provided, along with a comprehensive explanation of the geometric extraction methods employed. The differences between the finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, and fluid-structure interaction approaches are pointed out and the important aspects of TAVI modeling are described by elucidating the recent computational studies. Results: The results of the recent findings on TAVI simulations are summarized to demonstrate its powerful potential. It is observed that the material properties of aortic tissues and components of implanted valves should be modeled realistically to determine accurate results. For patient-specific AV geometries, incorporating calcific deposits on the leaflets is essential for ensuring the accuracy of computational findings. The results of numerical TAVI simulations indicate the significance of the selection of optimal valves and precise deployment within the appropriate anatomical position. These factors collectively contribute to the effective functionality of the implanted valve. Conclusions: Recent studies in the literature have revealed the critical importance of patient-specific modeling, the selection of accurate material models, and bio-prosthetic valve diameters. Additionally, these studies emphasize the necessity of precise positioning of bio-prosthetic valves to achieve optimal performance in TAVI, characterized by an increased effective orifice area and minimal paravalvular leakage. © 202
There are literature findings showing that people with narcissistic personality traits have relatively more negative sexual attitudes. However, there is limited information on whether or to what extent these attitudes differ in people with vulnerable and grandiose narcissistic personality traits. Additionally, there are many different views on how these negative attitudes are shaped. The aim of this study is to explain the sexual attitudes of people with grandiose and vulnerable personality traits through their sexual self-schemas, that is, their perceptions of their own sexuality. For this purpose, Narcissistic Personality Inventory-16, Vulnerable Narcissism Scale, Sexual Self Schema Scale and Hendrick Brief Sexual Attitudes Scale were used and data were collected from 342 people in online environments. In preparation for the analysis, 26 participants were removed from the data set and the analysis continued with 316 participants. As a result of the correlation and mediation analyses, it was determined that the relevant variables were related to sexual attitudes, that the sensual/stimulating sexual self-schema played a mediating role in the relationship between grandiose narcissistic personality traits and sexual attitudes, and that both sensual/stimulating and loving/compassionate sexual self-schema played a mediating role in the relationship between vulnerable narcissistic personality traits and sexual attitudes. According to these findings, individuals with grandiose narcissistic personality traits and individuals with vulnerable narcissistic personality traits define their sexuality with a sensual/stimulating sexual self-schema, which negatively affects their sexual attitudes. In addition, the fact that people with vulnerable narcissistic personality traits do not define their own sexuality with a loving/compassionate sexual self-schema negatively affects the sexual attitudes of these people. The findings were evaluated and discussed in the light of the information obtained from the literature, and the study's contributions to the literature, its limitations and suggestions for future studies were presented
