Case-Based Radiological Anatomy Instruction Using Cadaveric Mri Imaging and Delivered With Extended Reality Web Technology
Purpose: Extended reality (XR) technology enhances learning in medical education. The purpose of this study was to develop and apply a case-based approach for teaching radiological anatomy utilizing XR technology for improved student exploration and engagement. Methods: The workflow consisted of MRI scanning cadavers followed by radiological, pathological, and anatomical assessment, and finally case presentation based on XR visualizations and student interaction. Case information (Subject, History, and Physical Exam) was presented to student groups who generated and recorded hypotheses using Google Forms. Results: Use of all components of the system was voluntary and a total of 74 students responded to the survey request (response rate = 95%). Assessment of the experience was conducted through a qualitative survey comprising four Likert scale questions (1-5, 1 lowest), three binary questions, and open-ended comments. Mean, standard deviation, and overall agreement (mean +/- SD, OA) showed that students found MRI scans of cadavers to be helpful for dissections (4.14 +/- 1.1, 74.3%) and provided an understanding of relevant anatomy (4.32 +/- 0.9, 79.7%), while 78.4% of students used the DICOM viewer to visualize scans of cadavers. The difficulty of use was found to be average (2.90 +/- 1.0, 23%). zSpace visualizations were used by 40.5% of students, generally agreeing that an understanding of spatial relationships improved as a result (3.60 +/- 1.0, 43.2%). More case-based sessions were favored by 97.3% of students. Conclusions: Results suggest that cadaveric MRI radiological visualization and XR technology enhance understanding of case-based anatomical dissections and encourage student exploration and engagement. The authors wish to thank the altruistic donors of the JABSOM, Willed Body Program for their generous contributions in providing unique educational and research opportunities for the next generation of health care providers. Türkiye Mobil Uygulama Pazarında Tahmin Yöntemleri Uygulamaları
Mobile applications have become a growing market in recent years all over the world and in Turkey. With the increase in the use of technology in our lives, it is expected to grow even more in the future. Understanding the dynamics of this growing market is important for both users and application owners. When the variables of mobile applications in different categories are examined, it is seen that they have different patterns. In this environment where the behavior of the users varies, the question of which parameters should be modeled and how they should be interpreted comes to mind. Within the scope of this study, monthly downloads and monthly active users time series data of 5 different mobile applications from the categories of e-commerce, e-scooter and social media between 2016-2022 were investigated using Autoregressive Models. As a result of the models, GARCH(1,1) for e-commerce and e-scooter applications; ARMA(1,1) model was found to be the most suitable for social media applications. The patterns shown by different mobile applications were estimated using the most appropriate models. As a result, in order to understand the dynamics of the mobile application market, both new entrants and applications operating in the existing market were shed light on. Insights on different categories were presented with numerical analyzes on time series and interpreted with an interdisciplinary perspective. The market was approached both holistically and in detail.Mobil uygulamalar tüm dünyada ve Türkiye'de son yıllarda gittikçe büyüyen birer pazar haline gelmiştir. Privacy Protection Via Joint Real and Reactive Load Shaping in Smart Grids
Frequent metering of electricity consumption is crucial for demand-side management in smart grids. However, metered data can be processed fairly easily by employing well-established nonintrusive appliance load monitoring techniques to infer appliance usage, which reveals information about consumers' private lives. Existing load shaping techniques for privacy primarily focus only on altering metered real power, whereas smart meters collect reactive power consumption data as well for various purposes. This study addresses consumer privacy preservation via load shaping in a demand response scheme, considering both real and reactive power. We build a multi-objective optimization framework that enables us to characterize the interplay between privacy maximization, user cost minimization, and user discomfort minimization objectives. Our results reveal that minimizing information leakage due to a single component, e.g., real power, would suffer from overlooking information leakage due to the other component, e.g., reactive power, causing sub-optimal decisions. In fact, joint shaping of real and reactive power components results in the best possible privacy preservation performance, which leads to more than a twofold increase in privacy in terms of mutual information. The Impact of Exporting on Women's Employment
Purpose This paper aims to examine the effect of exports on women's employment rate for Turkish manufacturing firms over a recent period of 2003-2015. Design/methodology/approach The authors establish treatment models and use propensity score matching (PSM) techniques together with difference-in-difference methodology. Findings The results of the study indicate that starting to export increases women's employment rate for manufacturing firms. Gains in female employment rates are observed for the firms operating in low and medium low technology intensive sectors, low-wage sectors as well as laborlabor-intensive goods exporting sectors. Originality/value The authors complement previous literature by utilizing a rich harmonized firm-level dataset that covers a large number of firms and a recent time period. The authors distinguish between several sub-samples of firms according to technology intensity of the sector in which they operate, wage level and factor intensity of exports and investigate whether or not women gain from trade in terms of employment opportunities
Concept of Tectonics in Architectural Education
The creation of space in architecture can be explained in many ways and understandings. The ideational and practical creation or production of space, as the principal act or focus of architecture, is the result of a form of conception associated with the technological, cultural, social, philosophical or structural data contained in the relevant time. It can be said that researching expressions about the creation or production of space gains meaning depending on time, theoretical reading style and factors that affect architecture, such as technology or culture. This study sees the theoretical and practical expressions related to the creation of space can acquire different contents according to time and conditions, in the context of different factors, and the new readings to be made in current conditions that can produce new meanings as different conceptions of space as the source of its discussion. In this context, for example, investigating the effects of digital production and software technologies on the creation and production of space these days creates a research and discussion area in order to understand the attitudes of contemporary architecture towards the creation of space and to create a contemporary reading of space. This research, which can be generalized as the production of space and the questioning of the effect of current technologies on it, requires understanding different approaches and methods from the past in terms of the creation and production of space, considering the production of space before digital technologies. In addition, this study includes a discussion for the changes and transformations that have occurred or will occur in the spatial production of contemporary architecture, in the field of architectural tectonics, with the developing technology. Thus, it claims that classical and digital tectonic understandings have affordances for each other and understanding the affordances can enable the definition or comprehension of the new tectonic approach. In this framework, this study investigates James Gibson's concept of affordances as a theoretical basis. Afterwards, an experimental study in the field of education in the context of the results of this research is explained. This experimental study, which was created within the scope of Building Technologies MIM107 and MIM108 courses conducted at the first-year level of TOBB ETU Department of Architecture, provided the research and definition of the content of the new tectonic approach. This thesis depends on classical and digital tectonic understandings and concludes that hybrid tectonics, which emerged from them, as a theoretical research and experiment area, can create different and innovative approaches in all relevant areas of architectural theory and practice.
Implementation and Evaluation of Age-Aware Downlink Scheduling Policies in Push-Based and Pull-Based Communication
As communication systems evolve to better cater to the needs of machine-type applications such as remote monitoring and networked control, advanced perspectives are required for the design of link layer protocols. The age of information (AoI) metric has firmly taken its place in the literature as a metric and tool to measure and control the data freshness demands of various applications. AoI measures the timeliness of transferred information from the point of view of the destination. In this study, we experimentally investigate AoI of multiple packet flows on a wireless multi-user link consisting of a transmitter (base station) and several receivers, implemented using software-defined radios (SDRs). We examine the performance of various scheduling policies under push-based and pull-based communication scenarios. For the push-based communication scenario, we implement age-aware scheduling policies from the literature and compare their performance with those of conventional scheduling methods. Then, we investigate the query age of information (QAoI) metric, an adaptation of the AoI concept for pull-based scenarios. We modify the former age-aware policies to propose variants that have a QAoI minimization objective. We share experimental results obtained in a simulation environment as well as on the SDR testbed.TUBITAK-BIDEB Grant [119C028]This work has been supported by TUBITAK-BIDEB Grant 119C028

Search for Resonant Pair Production of Higgs Bosons in the B(b)over-Barb(b)over Final State Using Pp Collisions at Root S=13 Tev With the Atlas Detector
A search for resonant Higgs boson pair production in the b (b) over barb (b) over bar final state is presented. The analysis uses 126 fb(-1)- 139 fb(-1) of pp collision data at root s = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The analysis is divided into two channels, targeting Higgs boson decays which are reconstructed as pairs of small-radius jets or as individual large-radius jets. Spin-0 and spin2 benchmark signal models are considered, both of which correspond to resonant HH production via gluon-gluon fusion. The data are consistent with Standard Model predictions. Upper limits are set on the production cross section times branching ratio to Higgs boson pairs of a new resonance in the mass range from 251 GeV to 5 TeV.ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW, Austria; FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; SSTC, Belarus; CNPq, Brazil; FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, Canada; NRC, Canada; CFI, Canada; CERN; ANID, Chile; CAS, China; MOST, China; NSFC, China; Minciencias, Colombia; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF, Denmark; DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS, France; CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSFG, Georgia; BMBF, Germany; HGF, Germany; MPG, Germany; GSRI, Greece; RGC, China; Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF, Israel; Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT, Japan; JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; JINR; MES of Russia, Russian Federation; NRC KI, Russian Federation; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS, Slovenia; MIZS, Slovenia; DSI/NRF, South Africa; MICINN, Spain; SRC, Sweden; Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, Switzerland; SNSF, Switzerland; Canton of Bern, Switzerland; Canton of Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TAEK, Turkey; STFC, United Kingdom; DOE, United States of America; NSF, United States of America; BCKDF, Canada; CANARIE, Canada; Compute Canada, Canada; CRC, Canada; COST, European Union; ERC, European Union; ERDF, European Union; Horizon 2020, European Union; Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, European Union; Investissements d'Avenir Labex, France; Investissements d'Avenir Idex, France; ANR, France; DFG, Germany; AvH Foundation, Germany; Herakleitos programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Thales programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Aristeia programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Greek NSRF, Greece; BSF-NSF, Israel; GIF, Israel; Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, Norway; NCN, Poland; NAWA, Poland; La Caixa Banking Foundation, Spain; CERCA Programme Generalitat de Catalunya, Spain; Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; Gran Gustafssons Stiftelse, Sweden; Royal Society, United Kingdom; Leverhulme Trust, United KingdomWe thank CERN for the very successful operation of the LHC, as well as the support staff from our institutions without whom ATLAS could not be operated efficiently. We acknowledge the support of ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW and FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; SSTC, Belarus; CNPq and FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, NRC and CFI, Canada; CERN; ANID, Chile; CAS, MOST and NSFC, China; Minciencias, Colombia; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF and DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS and CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSFG, Georgia; BMBF, HGF and MPG, Germany; GSRI, Greece; RGC and Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF and Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT and JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; JINR; MES of Russia and NRC KI, Russian Federation; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS and MIZS, Slovenia; DSI/NRF, South Africa; MICINN, Spain; SRC and Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TAEK, Turkey; STFC, United Kingdom; DOE and NSF, United States of America.
