Traditional Turkish Arts Education in the Visual Arts Education
knowledge acquiring is conscious. A visual arts classroom environment and the participant observer investigator have made a great contribution to ensuring such phenomens as “Different perception of education”, “Being a thinking class”, “Active and eager participation in activities”, “Superior thinking skills” and “Teacher and peers cooperation” and making a “Classroom environment” pleasant by employing the program. The points that the education sways affecting the society are thought-provoking. Today, the solution of many issues that set the agenda can be found in consciously planned human education. The proverb of “As the twig is bent so is the tree inclined” should be guiding and today, while discussing concepts such as globalization and universality, the fact that each individual can serve the public in a universal whole with their own characteristics and the differences of the culture in which he/she takes shape should not be ignored. From this point of view, investigating the effects of application of Multi Disciplinary Visual Arts Educational Method which includes the disciplines of Art History, Art Criticism, Aesthetics and Practice and Constructivist (Constructionist) Learning Approach and Traditional Turkish Arts topics in the 6th grade Visual Arts Class will contribute to the importance of traditional arts education within the scope of visual arts. In addition, it is thought that the research findings will provide a new perspective in terms of both performance and educational method. The investigator has carried out the content analysis based on the qualitative data gathered from students and teachers in the course of 6 weeks education by means of observation, interview forms, activity sheets and program drawn up by himself, where he has emloyed the pilot application. Along with that, after the investigation of the documents in the students portfolios, formed by means of activities aimed at the “Visual Works Reflecting and Introducing National Culture” attainment in the “Visual Arts Culture” learning domain included in the program, students are tried to be evaluated. The activities are contributed both from the viewpoint of subject and the visual arts education. Findings show that students succeed in “Individual meaning making process”, “New knowledge and current knowledge joining”, “Social interaction” and “Authentic tasks”knowledge acquiring, problem solving and critical creative thinking skills are at the highest level
Measurements of Higgs Boson Production Cross-Sections in the H ->tau(+) Tau(-) Decay Channel in Pp Collisions at Root S=13 Tev With the Atlas Detector
Measurements of the production cross-sections of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson (H) decaying into a pair of tau -leptons are presented. The measurements use data collected with the ATLAS detector from pp collisions produced at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of p root s = 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb-1. Leptonic ( tau -> l upsilon(l)upsilon(tau)) and hadronic ( tau -> hadrons upsilon tau) decays of the tau -lepton are considered. All measurements account for the branching ratio of H -> tau tau and are performed with a requirement |yH| 2.5, where yH is the true Higgs boson rapidity. The cross-section of the pp -> H -> tau tau process is measured to be 2.94 +/- 0.21(stat)+ 0.37 - 0.32(syst) pb, in agreement with the SM prediction of 3.17 +/- 0.09 pb. Inclusive cross-sections are determined separately for the four dominant production modes: 2.65 +/- 0.41(stat)+ 0.91 - 0.67(syst) pb for gluon-gluon fusion, 0.197 +/- 0.028(stat)+ 0.032 - 0.026(syst) pb for vectorboson fusion, 0.115 +/- 0.058(stat)+ 0.042 - 0.040(syst) pb for vector-boson associated production, and 0.033 +/- 0.031(stat)+ 0.022 - 0.017(syst) pb for top-quark pair associated production. Measurements in exclusive regions of the phase space, using the simplified template cross-section framework, are also performed. All results are in agreement with the SM predictions.ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW, Austria; FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; SSTC, Belarus; CNPq, Brazil; FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, Canada; NRC, Canada; CFI, Canada; CERN; ANID, Chile; CAS, China; MOST, China; NSFC, China; Minciencias, Colombia; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF, Denmark; DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS, France; CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSFG, Georgia; BMBF, Germany; HGF, Germany; MPG, Germany; GSRI, Greece; RGC, China; Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF, Israel; Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT, Japan; JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; JINR; MES of Russia, Russian Federation; NRC KI, Russian Federation; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS, Slovenia; MIZS, Slovenia; DSI/NRF, South Africa; MICINN, Spain; SRC, Sweden; Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, Switzerland; SNSF, Switzerland; Canton of Bern, Switzerland; Canton of Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TAEK, Turkey; STFC, United Kingdom; DOE, United States of America; NSF, United States of America; BCKDF, Canada; CANARIE, Canada; Compute Canada, Canada; CRC, Canada; COST, European Union; ERC, European Union; ERDF, European Union; Horizon 2020, European Union; Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, European Union; Investissements d'Avenir Labex, France; Investissements d'Avenir Idex, France; ANR, France; DFG, Germany; AvH Foundation, Germany; Herakleitos programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Thales programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Aristeia programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Greek NSRF, Greece; BSF-NSF, Israel; GIF, Israel; Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, Norway; NCN, Poland; NAWA, Poland; La Caixa Banking Foundation, Spain; CERCA Programme Generalitat de Catalunya, Spain; PROMETEO Programme Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; GenT Programme Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; Goran Gustafssons Stiftelse, Sweden; Royal Society, United Kingdom; Leverhulme Trust, United KingdomWe acknowledge the support of ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW and FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; SSTC, Belarus; CNPq and FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, NRC and CFI, Canada; CERN; ANID, Chile; CAS, MOST and NSFC, China; Minciencias, Colombia; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF and DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS and CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSFG, Georgia; BMBF, HGF and MPG, Germany; GSRI, Greece; RGC and Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF and Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT and JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; JINR; MES of Russia and NRC KI, Russian Federation; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS and MIZS, Slovenia; DSI/NRF, South Africa; MICINN, Spain; SRC and Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TAEK, Turkey;STFC, United Kingdom; DOE and NSF, United States of America. Patolojik Seslerin Tanisi için Derin Ögrenme Tabanli Tibbi Karar Destek Sisteminin Gelistirilmesi
The disruption of normal speech flow due to pathological conditions is known as a voice disorder. Therefore, any existing disorder disrupts the speech production system's functioning and produces a distorted voice. Since some laryngeal pathologies are life-threatening, the early detection of voice disorders is important. For this purpose, there is a need to develop a decision support system in the detection of pathological voices. In recent years, machine learning methods have become an interesting research topic to determine pathological voices in order to obtain an individual-level answer, since statistical methods give a group-based result in the evaluation of features extracted from voices. However, since machine learning requires manual extraction of features, deep learning techniques, in which optimal features can be extracted automatically, have become one of the current research topics. However, there are only few research studies on the use of deep learning techniques in the detection of pathological voice disorders. In this thesis study, deep learning methods were used to identify pathological voices. The voice recordings of patients with pathologies causing organic dysphonia due to structural changes in the vocal cords were selected from the Saarbruecken Voice Database. These pathologies included laryngitis, leukoplakia, Reinke's edema, recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis, vocal cord carcinoma, and vocal cord polyps. The sustained vowel /a/ at the neutral pitch of each individual was selected. The sample included a total of 760 recordings, of which 380 belonged to healthy voices and 380 belonged to pathological voices. The data were divided into training and test sets containing 75% and 25% of the samples, respectively. In the analysis of the samples, first, wavelet noise denoising was applied to the voice signals. Then, the spectrogram images of the voice signals were taken and utilized as inputs in four different Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) architectures, namely GoogleNet, ResNet-50, AlexNet, and SqueezeNet. The selected CNN architectures were used with their own classifiers to determine the pathological voices. Subsequently, the same architectures were employed only for feature extraction, then the Neighborhood Component Analysis employed for feature selection. The performance analyses of the models were undertaken by classifying the selected features with the following classification algorithms: Decision trees, Support Vector Machines, k-Nearest Neighborhood, Ensemble, and a decision tree method designed for this study. The most successful performance was obtained from the method in which the features had been extracted by the SqueezeNet architecture and classified with the Ensemble algorithm. According to the results, the proposed model is promising for the identification of pathological voices. Her bir bireyin nötr perdesinde sürekli sesli /a/ sesi kayıtları seçilmiştir. 380'i sağlıklı ve 380'i patolojik olmak üzere 760 ses kaydı kullanılmıştır.
Power converter, used in diverse electronics areas has gained importance with increasing demand and developing technology. DC-DC converters with high output voltage are one of the most needed part in power control. The efficiency and accuracy of power converters, which produce low voltage to high voltage, are the most important design part. Classical power converters with high voltage output have high power loss lead to heating. Therefore, efficiency is one of the most important parameters in power controller design. Classical power amplifiers are not efficient. Since DC-DC converters have higher switching frequencies, the efficiency of system shall be increased by reducing circuit components and designing precise controller. DC-DC step-up converters are electronic circuits that convert input voltage by switching to output voltage higher than the input voltage level. There are many types of DC-DC step-up converters and diverse design combinations are possible to apply. In this study, PI controller-based DC-DC boost-flyback converter that provide 500V output voltage from an input voltage of around 30V has been designed. Owing to combination of the boost-flyback converter, the efficiency of step-up converter get increase. The PI controller conduct transformation time, voltage level and steady state. The designed controller is confirmed by testing with different output loads. In controller design, state space equations of the boost-flyback converter are calculated by using the state space averaging method. The state space equations of the boostflyback converter were calculated using the state space averaging method. Analyzing the boost-flyback has difficulties since the system consist of two converter systems in series. To simplify the mathematical calculation process, the boost and flyback converters are analyzed individually. State space equations, small signal model and transfer function are calculated for the controller design of the system. Afterwards, the simulation and analysis of the system are executed in Matlab and Simulink
Researches - Sustainability in Architectural Education: a Pilot Study on Interactive Visualization of a Scoping Review
Doing a literature review is imperative for any scientific research for depicting the cur- rent state of the art, explaining what a research output will take part in the future, and offering future research directions. Existing literature defines four review types depending on their overarching goal, search strategy, appraisal of included studies, analysis, and synthesis. Review papers or reviews in articles mainly use Gantt charts to describe the number of publications addressing specific topics, the number of cita- tions publications received, or draw co-citation or keyword co-occurrence networks supported with narratives. Hence, they remain inadequate in providing a visual over- view of a specific research field, as they are not created by linking each publication to its research objectives, topics, case studies, methods, etc. This study believes that visualizing these links is potent for new researchers to access relevant literature and draw research gaps. This study aims to offer an experimental visualization entitled ReSeARCHeS, which is an interactive visualization of research outputs on learning environments (including tools, methods, courses, curricula) implemented towards to facilitate the integration of sustainability in architectural education. Based on the scoping study stages (work-in-progress), this study collects and categorizes relevant research outputs published from January 2018 to September 2020 on two electron- ic databases. The last step of this review, which involves the syntheses and analyses, is still on-going for a broader timeframe. The study codes each output based on con- tent analysis with pre-defined categories from the field of architectural education. It then builds a network by linking each output to its codes on Graph Commons. This paper discusses possible applications of ReSeARCHeS in broadening researchers’ un- derstanding of a field and contributing to the universal circulation of knowledge and experience
Subepithelial Fibrinous Accumulation and Associated Epithelial Proliferation in Laryngeal Nodules
Objective: Fibrinoid accumulation in the larynx and increase in the subepithelial collage- nous connective tissue result in overgrowth. Mucosal epithelium may proliferate downward to organize and remove the fibrinoid accumulation. This downward proliferation may cause an invasive cancer-like image. This study focused on the pathogenesis of the accumulation of fibrinoid substance and the development mechanism of the associated squamous epithelium proliferation. Methods: Five hundred and seventy-five laryngeal nodules were reexamined and 111 of them with varying degrees of irregular downward squamous epithelial proliferation were included in the study. Immunohistochemical staining of CK5/6, CK17, CK14, collagen type I, collagen type III, collagen type IV, and fibrinogen was performed. A modified Masson’s trichrome method was used for the histochemical staining of collagen. Results: Edema was present in 18% of the acute lesions and fibrin deposition in 42%. Rela- tively mature lesions mostly contain dense collagen fibers. The intensity of collagen type III was inversely proportional to the amount of fibrin accumulation. Collagen type IV was found in the epithelial and vascular basement membranes. A decrease in fibrin staining intensity and the presence of collagen type I and type III indicated the replacement of fibrin with col- lagen. Basal-type keratins showed more pronounced staining in the regenerated areas of the epithelium. As the laryngeal subepithelial fibrinoid accumulation was replaced with collagen, regression of the lesion became difficult. Conclusion: Irregular squamous epithelial proliferation occurs independent of the stage of the lesion. Although the etiology is different, the resulting lesions are histologically similar to those seen in the ligneous mucosal diseas
A New Anatomical Plate for Extra-Articular Distal Humeral Fractures: Biomechanical Study
Introduction: We compared the mechanical properties of two fixation techniques for the treatment of extra-articular distal third humeral fractures. Materials and Methods: Two groups were created from twenty-four humeri. Group 1 was instrumented using a new, precontoured, 8-hole (3.5-mm-diameter) locking compression plate (LCP) placed anterolaterally. Group 2 was instrumented using an 8-hole (3.5-mm-diameter) precontoured posterolateral LCP plate placed on the distal humerus. Four-point bending tests and torsion tests were performed until the specimens broke. Results: The four-point bending stiffness test showed that the stiffness of anterolaterally fixed humeri was significantly higher than that of posterolaterally fixed humeri (p0.05). Torsion testing revealed that posterolateral fixation was associated with better yield strength (p0.05), but the torsional stiffness did not differ significantly between the two plates (p>0.05). Conclusions: The anterolateral plate exhibited higher bending stiffness and torsional yield strength than the posterolateral plate. Anterolateral plate fixation can thus be used to manage extra-articular distal humeral fractures. Multiaxial locking screws ensure rigid fixation, allow early elbow motion without olecranon fossa impingement, and prevent iatrogenic injury of the triceps muscle. International Recommendations For An Effective Control Of Head Louse İnfestations [baş Biti Enfestasyonlarının Etkin Kontrolü için Uluslararası Tavsiyeler]
Head louse infestations continue to be a concern of public health in most countries, including the most developed ones. The present recommendations are intended to inform and stress the role and impact of the different authorities, institutions, industry, and the public in the control of head lice in order to reduce the prevalence of this parasite. We encourage health authorities to pursue more effective methods to correctly identify such infestations, and evaluate existing and new pediculicides, medical devices, louse repellents, and louse and nit-removal remedies. Pediculicides and medical devices must have verifiable claims in the instructions for use and should be tested periodically to document current levels of resistance by lice to the active ingredients and to the formulated products. Where the prevalence of lice is claimed to be epidemic, children should be periodically evaluated objectively to document the actual level of prevalence. Continuing education for health providers and the general population promises to correct misinformation regarding the biology, prevention, and management of lice. Parents should regularly inspect their children for head lice and treat as necessary. Health authorities are encouraged to eliminate policies and practices that rely upon school exclusion as a means to reduce incidence and prevalence, e.g., the ‘no-nit’ policy which lacks scientific justification, and are count © 2022,Turk Hijyen ve Deneysel Biyoloji Dergisi. All Rights Reserved
Thermoelectric Properties of Doped Graphene Nanoribbons: Density Functional Theory Calculations and Electrical Transport
We present a detailed study on band structure-dependent properties such as electrical conductivity, the charge of carriers and Seebeck coefficients of graphene nano-ribbons (GNRs) doped with the magnetic impurities Fe and Co since the spin thermopower could be considerably enhanced by impurities. Thermoelectric properties of two-dimensional systems are currently of great interest due to the possibility of heat to electrical energy conversion at the nanoscale. The thermoelectric properties are investigated using the semi-classical Boltzmann method. The electronic band structure of doped nano-ribbons is evaluated by means of density-functional theory in which the Hubbard interaction is considered. Different types of nano-ribbons (armchair-edge and zigzag-edge) and their thermoelectric features such as conductivity and Seebeck coefficient in the presence and absence of magnetic impurities have been studied
