Energy Efficient Ceramic Sanitaryware Production Planning With a Hybrid Simulation Optimization Method
The ceramic sanitaryware production process consists of casting, drying, glazing, and firing operations. The operation that uses the most energy is the firing process. This study handles a case sanitaryware production factory and proposes a production planning method for energy-efficient manufacturing. In the case factory, the firing process takes place on wagons that carry the products through a tunnel-gas oven. Increasing the wagon surface area utilization decreases the energy consumption per unit product. The wagons continuously move with a predetermined speed and pick up their loads from the end of the glazing lines. The glazing lines have limited-sized end buffers, and products are manually carried in case of a buffer overflow. A wagon can load a product only if the product is ready in the glazing line end buffer while the wagon is passing in front of that line in real-time. Efficient wagon loading requires having the right products at the end buffers at the right time. This study develops a hybrid simulation optimization model to determine the production plan that minimizes the number of wagons used and the buffer overflows. The proposed method consists of two parts. The first part uses a linear programming model to assign the product demands to appropriate glazing lines such that the glazing lines' workload is balanced in terms of total production time and total product surface in lines. Then the model orders the products in each line according to their types and assigns them to drying process vehicles. The second part of the model uses a hybrid simulation - genetic algorithm heuristic to obtain the best product/wagon assignments with the given glazing production plan. The production plan is further improved with a heuristic drying vehicle replacement rule. The model gradually improves the production plan within a closedloop cycle between the wagon-product assignment heuristic and the drying vehicle replacement heuristic. Results show that the model can effectively reduce the number of wagons used and buffer overflow for a given demand

Territorialization of the Indo-Pacific: a Critical Geopolitics Perspective
This thesis is an inquiry into the notion of the Indo-Pacific to explain how it was territorialized and why it has taken the place of Asia-Pacific by using the theoretical perspective of critical geopolitics. Using the discourse analysis as its method, the thesis analyzes the discourses of four states – the US, Australia, Japan, and India – on the IndoPacific with the premise that geopolitical knowledge is not a natural fact but a discoursive knowledge. The thesis has three arguments. First, the Indo-Pacific is an old but forgotten discursive construct that has been re-employed in the mid-2000s to denote a specific geographical space, not a natural region. Secondly, the geopolitical identity of the IndoPacific differs both temporally and spatially, meaning it has changed over time because of different reterritorializations and deterritorializations of the discursive space. At the same time, which is the key argument of this thesis, the territorialization of the IndoPacific by different actors resulted in two different Indo-Pacific geopolitical constructs. The first one is named "maritime Indo-Pacific", which signifies the geopolitical imagination of the US and Australia, and the second one is named "wider Indo-Pacific" which signifies the geopolitical imagination of Japan and India. Thirdly, to answer the question of why this territorialization has taken place, the thesis will argue that both geopolitical imaginations represent inside/outside distinction on regional security issues, the most notable of which has been the issue of the "rise of China". As a result, geopolitical imaginations are being used as justifications for foreign policy choices of four discourseproducing states.
Detection of Blastocystis Subtypes in Children With Functional Abdominal Pain and Celiac Disease in Çorum, Turkey
Background: Blastocystis has been associated with various symptoms of the gastrointestinal tract. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of Blastocystis in children with celiac disease (CeD) or functional abdominal pain (FAP) and to evaluate its subtypes (STs) with respect to demographic, socioeconomic and epidemiological factors. Methods: Overall, 161 fecal samples were collected from healthy children and patients with FAP or CeD in Hitit University Erol Olçok Research and Training Hospital, Corum, Turkey between 2016-2018. Samples were examined using both native-Lugol (NL) and trichrome-stained (TS) smears, and further analyses by PCR and Sanger sequencing were performed. A standard questionnaire was applied to obtain demographic, socioeconomic, epidemiological data. Results: Blastocystis was found in 10.6% of the total study population. Neither bacteria nor any other parasites were found, except for one Giardia (0.6%) in the CeD group. The presence/absence of the parasite was not found to be associated with demographic, socioeconomic and epidemiological factors. Blastocysis was detected in 11.5% (6/52) of the CeD, 7.7% (4/52) of the FAP, and 12.3% (7/57) of the healthy group. Diagnostic methods were similar in terms of Blastocystis detection (P= 0.671), and there was fair agreement between the NL, TS and PCR (Fleiss' Kappa=0.847, P=0.001). ST2 (42.8%) and ST3 (35.7%) were the predominant STs followed by ST1 (21.4%). Conclusion: We observed no difference between study groups in terms of Blastocystis prevalence. ST1, ST2 and ST3 subtypes were detected. Blastocystis prevalence and STs were not related to any of the demographic, socioeconomic and epidemiological factors. © 2022 Güreser et al. Nonlinear Modeling and Lyapunov Stability Based Controller Design of a Quadrotor Uav
3rd International Informatics and Software Engineering Conference, IISEC 2022 -- 15 December 2022 through 16 December 2022 -- 185735Advances in information technology and hardware technology have led to the development of the capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Quadrotors are used in areas such as fire fighting, search and rescue, first aid kit delivery, surveillance, mapping, mineral exploration, agricultural spraying, cargo transportation, and defense industry. In order for quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles to perform these sensitive tasks, it is important to have a robust controller design. Robust control of unmanned aerial vehicles is an important issue that many researchers have been working on in recent years. In this work, nonlinear modeling of a quadrotor is performed. A Lyapunov stability-based robust controller has been realized to control altitude and attitude. Simulations were made under normal situations, uncertain parameters and Gaussian white noise. Rise time, overshoot and settling time values were examined under 3 different conditions and the results were compared. The simulations have proven the robustness of the designed controller under specified conditions. © 2022 IEEE

Understanding the Endocrine Disruptor and Determination of Bisphenol a by Functional Cu-btabb-mof/Rgo Composite as Facile Rapid Electrochemical Sensor: an Experimental and Dft Investigation
A pioneering CuBTABB-MOF/rGO composite customized electrode is fabricated and utilized as a sensor towards identifying bisphenol A (BPA) in a phosphate buffer solution of pH 7.0. The composite is characterized by FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, XRD, SEM, EDX, HRTEM, and XPS to study its structural and morphological properties. Compared with Cu-BTABB-MOF and Cu-BTABB-MOF@GO, the Cu-BTABB-MOF@rGO modified electrode is more sensitive and selective to BPA due to a strong interaction between them. The developed Cu-BTABB-MOF@rGO modified electrode exhibits good sensitivity (6.95 x 10(-5) A mol(-1) L-1) for BPA having a wide linear range of 0-100 mu mol L-1 with the LOD of 2.08 x 10(-5) mol L-1, reproducibility of 4.35%, and relative standard deviation (RSD) and stability of 90% for thirty days. In addition, the developed electrocatalyst remained unoccupied from interfering substances and consequently provided an encouraging platform for swift detection of BPA in real samples such as pond water and packed water bottles. Additionally, we utilized DFT (density functional theory) to model GO and Cu-BTABB-MOF structures for detecting BPA molecules.University Grants Commission-Government of India; SERB-CRG-India [CRG/2020/002163]The authors Srikanth Ponnada, Annapurna Nowduri, Demudu Babu Gorle, Maryam Sadat Kiai, and Chikkili Venkateswara Raju would like to acknowledge Andhra University College of Engineering-Visakhapatnam-India; Indian Institute of ScienceBangalore-India; Istanbul Technical University, IstanbulTurkey; IIT-Jodhpur, India, for resource and technical support of this work.
