Determination of the Strong Coupling Constant From Transverse Energy-Energy Correlations in Multijet Events at √ S=13 Tev With the Atlas Detector
Measurements of transverse energy-energy correlations and their associated azimuthal asymmetries in multijet events are presented. The analysis is performed using a data sample corresponding to 139 fb(-1) of proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 13TeV, collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The measurements are presented in bins of the scalar sum of the transverse momenta of the two leading jets and unfolded to particle level. They are then compared to next-to-next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations for the first time, which feature a significant reduction in the theoretical uncertainties estimated using variations of the renormalisation and factorisation scales. The agreement between data and theory is good, thus providing a precision test of QCD at large momentum transfers Q. The strong coupling constant alpha(s) is extracted as a function of Q, showing a good agreement with the renormalisation group equation and with previous analyses. A simultaneous fit to all transverse energy-energy correlation distributions across different kinematic regions yields a value of alpha(s)( mZ) = 0.1175 +/- 0.0006 (exp.)(+0.0034) (-0.0017) (theo.), while the global fit to the asymmetry distributions yields alpha(s)(m(Z)) = 0.1185 +/- 0.0009 (exp.)(+0.0025)(-0.0012)(theo.)

Slow City Urban Identities: a Comparative Study on Public Spaces of Seferihisar and Trani
The formation of Slow City (Cittaslow), which is defined as a kind of sustainability movement, aims to preserve the collective memory, to protect the city, and to maintain the repetition that makes a space a home and the healthy relations between the people who keep the home alive. In this context, it would be appropriate to say that the formation is a kind of cultural sustainability movement. Negativities brought about by the rapidly developing and changing world leads to the creation of urban areas that are unidentified, uniform and have neither connection with the past nor the future. According to this concept, the main purpose of the research is to analyze to what extent the cultural identities of the cities under the scope of Slow City are read through the urban texture. At this point, as a research area, a comparative analysis study is carried out on the first Slow City of Turkey, "Seferihisar” and on the other hand, "Citta di Trani" from the country where the mentioned formation was born. For the comparison of the two cities mentioned, the criteria that are effective in the formation of urban identity are taken as basis. As the research areas are selected from two different countries, two different cultures’ approach to the formation is revealed
Effects of Process Parameters on Strengthening Mechanisms of Additively Manufactured Alsi10mg
In industries like automotive and aerospace, the demand for structures with a high strength-weight ratio is increasing. Additive manufacturing (AM) studies and applications of AlSi10Mg material have increased due to the improvement of mechanical properties when the production is performed at high cooling rates in the laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) method. The study aims to investigate the effect of the AM process parameters on the microstructure features, and determine the mathematical relationship between yield strength and process parameters to obtain better mechanical properties. In this study, AlSi10Mg specimens are manufactured using L-PBF method with different process parameters. Microstructure images of the manufactured specimens are obtained by scanning electron microscopy. Melt pool width, eutectic cell size and diameter of Si precipitates are measured using the microstructure images. Parametric equations are generated between the process parameters and microstructural features including eutectic cell size and Si precipitate diameter. Thus, relationships between strengthening mechanisms and process parameters are established by integrating the generated equations into the related strengthening mechanisms. Consequently, the yield strength model of AlSi10Mg material is developed as a function of the process parameters of L-PBF method. It is found that the developed model estimates close results to the nano-indentation results.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUEBITAK); [5189901]This study is a part of the project (# 5189901) supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUEBITAK) under the Frontier R ; D Laboratory Support Programme and performed in Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. The Cfd Computation and Validation of Effects of Adaptive Mesh Refinement in Sloshing Simulation in a Narrow Tank
9th World Congress on Mechanical, Chemical, and Material Engineering, MCM 2023 -- 6 August 2023 through 8 August 2023 -- 309509Strong and precise computational methods are necessary to discover and understand undesirable effects in tanks where liquids slosh, known as sloshing. Sloshing is important for many industrial applications, such as fuel tanks in ships, aircraft, and other transport vehicles. Numerical methods are commonly used in modelling sloshing behaviour, and adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) technology is an effective method used to increase numerical accuracy in sloshing simulations. The primary objective of this research isto conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) calculations of sloshing phenomena to establish a methodology for observing the undesirable effects on the relevant system and assess the effectiveness of adaptive mesh refinement by comparing the results of surface impact pressures with experimental case results from literature. A 3D model of a rectangular tank partially filled with water is used to simulate the impact pressure caused by roll motion. The roll motion is based on experimental data and occurs at periods close to the tank's internal wave resonance period. The pressure results are observed from a single monitoring point. Numerical studies are performedusing Star CCM+ software. The Volume of Fluid (VOF) based Eulerian method is utilised to model the free surface flow. The study demonstrates the ability of AMR to accurately model sloshing behaviour and compares fixed and AMR grids at different levels. Finally, the results of fixed and adaptive cartesian grids are compared and verified with corresponding experimental data. The results showed thatthe AMR grid provided higher numerical accuracy, lower computational cost and allowed for more accurate modelling of sloshing behaviour. It is emphasised that the importance of AMR for understanding sloshing behaviour and modelling it accurately. © 2023, Avestia Publishing. All rights reserved
Kompakt Fotonik Entegre Bagdastiricilarin Günes Hücresi ve Yonga Üstü Uygulamalar için Evrimsel Algoritmalar ile Tasarimi
Coupling is an important aspect of manipulating electromagnetic waves as it involves the transfer of energy between two or more systems via electromagnetic fields. Over the years, humanity has learned to control electromagnetic waves through the development of devices such as waveguides, antennas, and lenses. This has allowed the creation of more efficient and versatile systems for a variety of applications. The need for better solar cells, fiber-to-chip couplers and waveguide-to-waveguide couplers is driven by the ever-increasing demand for sustainable energy sources, faster and more reliable communication networks, and integrated photonic systems. Improved solar cells can contribute to a cleaner energy future, while advanced couplers enable seamless integration of fiber optics and photonic integrated circuits, resulting in more efficient data transmission and powerfull computing. Waveguide to substrate coupler is a device that has not been given much attention until today. Optimizing these couplers can dramatically increase the efficiency and compactness of THz antenna arrays, lensless imaging systems, and lab-on-a-chip. While THz antenna arrays could revolutionize wireless communication and sensing applications, they have the potential to transform lensless imaging, medical diagnostics and materials characterization. On the other hand, labs on a chip will promise to shrink and streamline complex laboratory processes, paving the way for portable and highly integrated diagnostic tools. In summary, devices that provide the coupling of electromagnetic waves in various applications are critical and algorithms have come to the fore in the design of these devices in recent years. Particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithm, which are evolutionary algorithms, provide many advantages compared to traditional design methods. First, photonic devices often have multidimensional parameter spaces. Evolutionary algorithms are well suited to navigating these complex areas as they can effectively search a wide variety of possible solutions. Second, evolutionary algorithms are more likely to find the overall optimum, as opposed to gradient-based optimization methods that can easily stuck to local minimums. Third, particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithms can be easily tailored to specific design constraints and goals. Finally, evolutionary algorithms are inherently resilient to noise and uncertainties in the design process. Taking advantage of the strengths of particle swarm optimization and genetic algorithms, this thesis explains the importance of photonic couplers and the algorithms used in the first part. In the second part, surface shaping for solar cells and fiber to chip coupler designs are given. In the third part, devices that enable the light to be integrated within the chip are designed. In the last part, the results obtained in the thesis are interpreted and the predictions are shared.
Search for Dark Photons From Higgs Boson Decays Via Zh Production With a Photon Plus Missing Transverse Momentum Signature From Pp Collisions at √s=13 Tev With the Atlas Detector
This paper describes a search for dark photons (gamma(d)) in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13TeV at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The dark photons are searched for in the decay of Higgs bosons ( H -> gamma gamma(d)) produced through the ZH production mode. The transverse mass of the system, made of the photon and the missing transverse momentum from the non-interacting gamma(d), presents a distinctive signature as it peaks near the Higgs boson mass. The results presented use the total Run-2 integrated luminosity of 139 fb(-1) recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The dominant reducible background processes are estimated using data-driven techniques. A Boosted Decision Tree technique is adopted to enhance the sensitivity of the search. As no excess is observed with respect to the Standard Model prediction, an observed (expected) upper limit on the branching ratio BR( H -> gamma gamma(d)) of 2.28% (2.82(-0.84%)(+1.33)) is set at 95% CL for massless gamma(d). For massive dark photons up to 40 GeV, the observed (expected) upper limits on BR( H -> gamma gamma(d)) at 95% confidence level is found within the [2.19,2.52]% ([2.71,3.11]%) range.ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW, Austria; FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; CNPq, Brazil; FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, Canada; CFI, Canada; NSFC, China; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF, Denmark; DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS, France; CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; BMBF, Germany; MPG, Germany; Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT, Japan; JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS, Slovenia; MIZS, Slovenia; MICINN, Spain; Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; DOE, United States of America; NSF, United States of America; BCKDF, Canada; CANARIE, Canada; Compute Canada, Canada; Czech Republic [PRIMUS 21/SCI/017, UNCE SCI/013]; COST, European Union; ERC, European Union; ERDF, European Union; Horizon 2020, European Union; Marie Skodowska-Curie Actions, European Union; Investissements d'Avenir Labex, France; Investissements d'Avenir Idex , France; ANR, France; DFG , Germany; AvH Foundation, Germany; Herakleitos programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Thales programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Aristeia programme - EU-ESF, Greece; Greek NSRF, Greece; BSF-NSF, Israel; MINERVA, Israel; Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, Norway; NCN, Poland; NAWA, Poland; La Caixa Banking Foundation, Spain; CERCA Programme Generalitat de Catalunya, Spain; PROMETEO Programme Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; GenT Programme Generalitat Valenciana, Spain; Goran Gustafssons Stiftelse, Sweden; Royal Society, United Kingdom; Leverhulme Trust, United Kingdom; STFC, United Kingdom; TENMAK, Turkiye; Canton of Geneva, Switzerland; Canton of Bern, Switzerland; SNSF, Switzerland; SRC, Sweden; DSI/NRF, South Africa; NWO, Netherlands; Benoziyo Center, Israel; RGC, China; GSRI, Greece; HGF, Germany; SRNSFG, Georgia; Minciencias, Colombia; MOST, China; CAS, China; ANID, Chile; CERN; NRC, CanadaWe acknowledge the support of ANPCyT, Argentina; YerPhI, Armenia; ARC, Australia; BMWFW and FWF, Austria; ANAS, Azerbaijan; CNPq and FAPESP, Brazil; NSERC, NRC and CFI, Canada; CERN; ANID, Chile; CAS, MOST and NSFC, China; Minciencias, Colombia; MEYS CR, Czech Republic; DNRF and DNSRC, Denmark; IN2P3-CNRS and CEA-DRF/IRFU, France; SRNSFG, Georgia; BMBF, HGF and MPG, Germany; GSRI, Greece; RGC and Hong Kong SAR, China; ISF and Benoziyo Center, Israel; INFN, Italy; MEXT and JSPS, Japan; CNRST, Morocco; NWO, Netherlands; RCN, Norway; MEiN, Poland; FCT, Portugal; MNE/IFA, Romania; MESTD, Serbia; MSSR, Slovakia; ARRS and MIZS, Slovenia; DSI/NRF, South Africa; MICINN, Spain; SRC and Wallenberg Foundation, Sweden; SERI, SNSF and Cantons of Bern and Geneva, Switzerland; MOST, Taiwan; TENMAK, Turkiye; STFC, United Kingdom; DOE and NSF, United States of America. Examining the Attitudes of Turkish Adults Towards Syrian Children From the Perspectives of Intergroup Contact Theory and Social Identity Theory
This thesis research aims to examine the attitudes of Turkish adults towards Syrian children and the variables influencing these attitudes within the framework of the Intergroup Contact Theory and Social Identity Theory. Studies have revealed that negative attitudes towards Syrian children are one of negative conditions to which Syrian children are exposed. The research hypotheses were tested with 254 participants (185 Female, 61 Male, Mage =28.04) through an online survey consisting of various scales. Results revealed that when a Turkish child exerts more effort to obtain the reward, Turkish adults tend to and consider it fair to distribute the reward based on the principle of equity. However, when a Syrian child exerts more effort to obtain the reward, they tend to and consider it fair to distribute the reward based on the principle of equality. In addition, social distance (more willingness to engage with Syrians through a variety of means), (positive) emotions toward refugee children, (higher) religiosity and parenthood (having a child) were positively associated; while (more) exposure to Syrian refugees and (higher) income were negatively associated with attitudes toward refugee children. Finally, group attachment was positively correlated with negative attitudes toward Syrian refugee children.Bu tez arastirmasi, Türkiyeli yetiskinlerinin Suriyeli çocuklara yönelik tutumlarini ve bu tutumlari etkileyen çesitli degiskenleri Gruplar Arasi Temas Kurami ve Sosyal Kimlik Kurami çerçevesinde incelemek amaciyla gerçeklestirilmistir. A Simple Cascade Channel Estimation Method for Uav Ris-Enabled Millimeter Wave Transmissions
10th International Conference on Wireless Networks and Mobile Communications, WINCOM 2023 -- 26 October 2023 through 28 October 2023 -- 194643Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) is an emerging concept in Sixth Generation (6G) technologies. RIS can manipulate the wireless communication environment and provide virtual Line of Sight (LOS) links between a Base Station(BS) and User Equipment (UE) by controlling the coefficients of passive reflecting elements. RIS is a promising concept with its passive and low-cost nature. However, RIS-enabled transmission experiences double scattering and high path loss. Besides, it requires a massive number of elements in the millimeter-wave(mmWave) and sub-TeraHertz(THz), which makes channel estimation a complicated problem. There are quite a number of diverse methods in recent literature. In this work we assume a Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)-mounted RIS that provides a line of sight. We propose a simple cascade channel estimation method and compare its performance with that of a recently proposed channel estimation scheme. We perform comparisons, taking the overhead caused by Fifth Generation (5G) Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) coding and channel estimation overhead into account. Simulations show that our proposal achieves a much better spectral efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TÜBİTAK: 122E40
