Masked Multiple State Space Model Identification Using Frd and Evolutionary Optimization
Identification of dynamical systems from frequency response data (FRD) has extensively been studied and effective techniques have been developed. Given different FRD sets obtained from different systems and a fixed state space model structure, is it possible to find a constant parameter vector containing (A, B, C, D) quadruple's numerical content and a FRD-associated mask vector set that approximates the spectral information available in each FRD set? This article proposes a genetic algorithm based optimization approach to determine the real parameter vector (A, B, C, D) and the binary mask vector through a sequential optimization scheme. We study state space models for matching FRD from multiple systems. Results show that the proposed optimization approach solves the problem and compresses multiple dynamical models into a single masked one

This search targets t (t) over bar production, in which both top quarks decay into a bottom quark and a W boson, where one of the W bosons decays hadronically and the other decays into an electron or muon and a heavy neutral lepton. The heavy neutral lepton is identified through a decay into an electron or muon and another W boson, resulting in a pair of same-charge same-flavor leptons in the final state. This paper presents the first search for heavy neutral leptons in the mass range of 15-75 GeV using t (t) over bar events. No significant excess is observed over the background expectation, and upper limits are placed on the signal cross sections. Assuming a benchmark scenario of the phenomenological type-I seesaw model, these cross section limits are then translated into upper limits on the mixing parameters of the heavy Majorana neutrino with Standard Model neutrinos. We thank CERN for the very successful operation of the LHC and its injectors, as well as the support staff at CERN and at our institutions worldwide without whom ATLAS could not be operated efficiently. Transdisipliner Ybm Ekosisteminin İş Birliği ve İletişim Parametrelerinin İncelenmesi
In building production, architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers work together to produce a common denominator product. While the activities in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry can be discussed within themselves, 'building' is located at the intersection of these disciplines. Discipline-specific models and methods are insufficient to explain and manage this intersection area. The Building Information Modeling (BIM) ecosystem provides a collaborative environment that includes all disciplines, from idea to demolition of the building. BIM is defined as a human activity that is approached as an integrative system with gathering elements such as n-dimensional modeling, parametric modeling, object-oriented modeling, and interoperability. The emergence of the potential of BIM is provided with the effective deployment of these elements. The digital platform of BIM is limited to implementing semantic and geometric information. BIM, currently known as a digital representation or coordination, has also grown in this perspective. However, the BIM ecosystem is an ecosystem that expands from the real world to the digital world. In this sense, the thesis is based on exploring collaborative potential of the BIM ecosystem, and the aim of the thesis is to investigate the BIM ecosystem's real-world conditions utilizing transdisciplinary collaboration. This thesis investigates communication and collaboration parameters among participants for exploring new perspectives within the Fogcatcher case study, which is a transdisciplinary design and building project. In the scope of the thesis, six experts specializing in various disciplines related to water harvesting, such as meteorology, biomimicry, architecture, material science, and molecular dynamics, are invited for focus group meetings in the case study. The focus group meetings are held to reframe the problem in a transdisciplinary environment. The meetings are recorded as visual and audio with participants' permission and the Human Research Evaluation Board's approval. The video recordings are deciphered for data collection. Differences among experts and meetings are specified and these differences are analyzed. The transcriptions are analyzed based on differences between experts and meetings in the communication analysis. In conclusion, this collaborative ecosystem emerges in terms of a common problem, idea, or well-known example. These associations are based on background information and experiences of humans. Neglecting these associations decreased the capacity of creating solutions in the 'building.' Finding a way to approach human aspects with the digital environment is essential to create an innovative and integrative environment in the BIM ecosystem.
Evaluation of Th1/Th2 Balance in Pulmonary Cystic Echinococcosis Patients
PurposeCystic echinococcosis (CE) is a neglected tropical disease prevalent worldwide, particularly in rural areas. Previous studies evaluated immune responses in patients with hepatic CE, however none had assessed Th1, Th2 and Th17 levels simultaneously in pulmonary CE patients. This study aimed to fill this gap in literature by using flow cytometry analysis.MethodsPeripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) were isolated from blood samples collected from healthy control (HC) volunteers and patients with active pulmonary CE cysts. The PBMCs were analysed to evaluate Th1, Th2, and Th17 cell levels within the CD3 + CD4 + T-cell population, using antibodies against interferon (IFN)-gamma, interleukin (IL)-4, and IL-17, respectively.ResultsOur analysis revealed elevated Th2 levels in CE patients, while Th1 and Th17 cell counts showed no significant difference between HC volunteers and patients with pulmonary CE.ConclusionThe results indicate an imbalanced Th1/Th2/Th17 cell regulation in the pathogenesis of pulmonary CE. Future studies are recommended to compare immune responses between pulmonary and hepatic CE to confirm these findings and evaluate any potential difference in the immunopathology associated with the two clinical forms of CE.We would like to thank Thorvacs (Ankara/Turkey) for the technical support.Hitit University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Uni
Pediculicide Regulations and Usage Trends in Türkiye in 2015–2022
Background: Over the years, the increasing prevalence of head lice infestation has led to an increase in treatment-related costs and the development of resistance to pediculicides. This study aimed to evaluate pediculicide sales over an 8-year period (2015–2022), including the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Data on products registered in the Turkish Pharmaceutical Index Dataview, Intercontinental Medical Statistics (IMS) database, sold on prescription and approved by the Ministry of Health in Türkiye were formally requested from the research organization IQVIA for pharmacologically active pediculicides (PAP) such as permethrin, pyrethrin, and sumithrin. Data for physically active products containing dimethicone (DMT) were obtained from the relevant pharmaceutical companies. Sale revenues were determined based on sale prices in the aforementioned year. Results: Total sales of pediculicides decreased from 2,452,846 units in 2015 to 2,028,840 units in 2022. While PAP consumption decreased over the years, from 1,832,006 to 518,460 units, DMT consumption increased from 620,840 to 1,510,380 units, from 2015 to 2022. The total price of pediculicides for the consumer increased more than threefold in Turkish currency. In terms of USD, an almost similar amount of money was spent over the years, with the exception of 2022 when the expenditure almost halved mainly due to the high inflation rate in the country. Conclusion: The decrease in PAP and the increase in DMT indicate that local lice have developed resistance to the former. Further studies are needed to determine the possible development of resistance in the country. © 2024 The Authors. Simultaneous Many-Row Activation in Off-The Dram Chips: Experimental Characterization and Analysis
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology; Resilient Computing and Cybersecurity Center54th Annual IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems and Networks, DSN 2024 -- 24 June 2024 through 27 June 2024 -- Brisbane -- 202203We experimentally analyze the computational capability of commercial off-the-shelf(COTS) DRAM chips and the robustness of these capabilities under various timing delays between DRAM commands, data patterns, temperature, and voltage levels. We extensively characterize 120 COTS DDR4 chips from two major manufacturers. We highlight four key results of our study. First, COTS DRAM chips are capable of 1) simultaneously activating up to 32 rows (i.e., simultaneous many-row activation), 2) executing a majority of X (MAJX) operation where X>3 (i.e., MAJ5, MAJ7, and MAJ9 operations), and 3) copying a DRAM row (concurrently) to up to 31 other DRAM rows, which we call Multi-RowCopy. Second, storing multiple copies of MAJX's input operands on all simultaneously activated rows drastically increases the success rate (i.e., the percentage of DRAM cells that correctly perform the computation) of the MAJX operation. For example, MAJ3 with 32-row activation (i.e., replicating each MAJ3's input operands 10 times) has a 30.81% higher average success rate than MAJ3 with 4-row activation (i.e., no replication). Third, data pattern affects the success rate of MAJX and MUlti-RowCopy operations by 11.52% and 0.07% on average. Fourth, simultaneous many-row activation, MAJX, and Multi-RowCopy operations are highly resilient to temperature and voltage changes, with small success rate variations of at most 2.13% among all tested operations. We believe these empirical results demonstrate the promising potential of using DRAM as a computation substrate. Obscurantist Governance in Turkey: Information Disclosure and Governmental Capacity
This article offers a conceptualization for a type of governance that is based on the issue-specific capacity of a government and the barriers erected by this government on the public to access information. We argue that when a government cannot deliver satisfactory performance or lacks the necessary means to manage an issue, it may choose to obscure the reality through various means to hide its incompetence. In this way, the government conceals its poor performance. We look at Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party to exemplify our model, which has had to resort to what we call obscurantist governance
Simulation of Migration Paths Using Agent-Based Modeling: the Case of Syrian Refugees En Route To Turkey
The decade-long Syrian civil war has triggered a significant migration wave in the Middle East, with Turkey hosting the largest number of Syrian refugees. Our study introduces an agent-based model (ABM) designed to simulate and predict migration paths in potential future refugee crises. The primary goal is to support aid organizations in planning the delivery of essential aid services during migration movements, offering insights that can be applied to various geographical areas and migration scenarios. While we use the Syrian refugee movement to Turkey as a case study, the model is intended as a flexible tool for analyzing migration patterns in future crises. The proposed ABM considers two characteristics of refugee groups: level of risk sensitivity and level of information. To enhance the model's functionality, we have extended the A* algorithm with a cost metric to calculate the weighted average of distance and risk to a destination point. Our case study examines the crisis in southern Idlib through six scenarios, offering insights into refugee numbers, migration paths, camp occupancy rates, and heat maps of densely populated regions for each scenario. Validation is performed by comparing model outcomes with situation reports and official statements from the relevant period, demonstrating the proposed ABM's potential for adaptation to other migration instances and further analysis under different parameters. © 2024 Elsevier LtdTürkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TÜBİTAK, (119M229); Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TÜBİTA
Search for Singly Produced Vectorlike Top Partners in Multilepton Final States With Formula Presented of Formula Presented Collision Data at Formula Presented With the Atlas Detector
A search for the single production of a vectorlike top partner (Formula Presented) with mass greater than 1 TeV decaying into a Formula Presented boson and a top quark is presented, using the full Run 2 dataset corresponding to Formula Presented of Formula Presented collisions at Formula Presented, collected in 2015-2018 with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The targeted final state is characterized by the presence of a pair of electrons or muons with opposite-sign charges which form a Formula Presented-boson candidate, as well as by the presence of Formula Presented-tagged jets and forward jets. Events with exactly two or at least three leptons are categorized into two independently optimized analysis channels. No significant excess above the background expectation is observed and the results from the two channels are statistically combined to set exclusion limits at 95% confidence level on the masses and couplings of Formula Presented. The results are interpreted in several benchmark scenarios to set limits on the mass and universal coupling strength (Formula Presented) of the vectorlike quark. For singlet Formula Presented quarks, Formula Presented values between 0.22 and 0.64 are excluded for masses between 1000 and 1975 GeV. For Formula Presented quarks in the doublet scenario, where the production cross section is much lower, Formula Presented values between 0.54 and 0.88 are excluded for masses between 1000 and 1425 GeV. © 2024 CERN, for the ATLAS Collaboration.Agence Nationale de la Recherche, ANR; Australian Research Council, ARC; Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique, CNRST; Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, FCT; Cooperative Research Centres, Australian Government Department of Industry, CRCs; Narodowe Centrum Nauki, NCN; National Science Foundation, NSF; Science and Technology Facilities Council, STFC; H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, MSCA; Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, JSPS; Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek, NWO; Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, MCIN; Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, MOST; Israel Science Foundation, ISF; Leverhulme Trust; Staatssekretariat für Bildung, Forschung und Innovation, SBFI; Javna Agencija za Raziskovalno Dejavnost RS, ARRS; Generalitat de Catalunya; Instituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, INFN; Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft, BMWFW; Austrian Science Fund, FWF; Narodowa Agencja Wymiany Akademickiej, NAWA; Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo, ANID; Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF; Canada Foundation for Innovation, CFI; Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft, HGF; Danmarks Grundforskningsfond, DNRF; Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico, CNPq; Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, KIT; Canarie; Göran Gustafssons Stiftelser; Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG; Ministarstvo Prosvete, Nauke i Tehnološkog Razvoja, MPNTR; U.S. Department of Energy, USDOE; European Cooperation in Science and Technology, COST; Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo, FAPESP; Institutul de Fizică Atomică, IFA; Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, NSERC; Nella and Leon Benoziyo Center for Neurological Diseases, Weizmann Institute of Science; Irish Rugby Football Union, IRFU; Chinese Academy of Sciences, CAS; Defence Science Institute, DSI; Schweizerischer Nationalfonds zur Förderung der Wissenschaftlichen Forschung, SNF; Agencia Nacional de Promoción Científica y Tecnológica, ANPCyT; Minerva Foundation; European Research Council, ERC; National Research Foundation, NRF; Royal Society of South Australia, RSSA; European Regional Development Fund, ERDF; CERN; Ministerstvo Školství, Mládeže a Tělovýchovy, MŠMT; National Research Council Canada, NRC; Brookhaven National Laboratory, BNL; Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, AvH; Multiple Sclerosis Scientific Research Foundation, MSSRF; British Columbia Knowledge Development Fund, BCKDF; Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, MEXT; National Natural Science Foundation of China, NSFC; 2014-2021; SCI/013; IN2P3-CNRS; CC-IN2P3; 21/SCI/01
