Bolts play a critical role in structural integrity, especially in cylindrical body assemblies where factors such as load distribution, stress concentration and overall stability are crucial. However, the optimal configuration of bolts is a multifaceted problem influenced by several factors including material properties, geometric constraints and mechanical requirements. The research begins with a comprehensive review of existing methodologies and tools used in bolted joint design, identifying gaps and limitations. Utilizing the knowledge gained from this review, a systematic approach is proposed for the development of an integrated design tool that takes into account the complex interaction between bolt parameters and structural performance. The tool incorporates advanced computational algorithms and finite element analysis techniques to efficiently simulate and evaluate different bolt configurations. Rigorous analytical validation procedures are carried out to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the design tool. The results demonstrate the tool's effectiveness in predicting bolt behavior under varying conditions and its ability to produce optimal designs that meet specified performance criteria. Furthermore, the thesis explores the practical implications of using the developed tool in real-world engineering applications. Several studies are presented to demonstrate the versatility of the tool and its applicability in different scenarios, highlighting its potential to streamline the design process, reduce costs and improve overall structural integrity. In conclusion, this research contributes to the advancement of bolted joint design by providing a comprehensive and robust tool to optimize bolt configuration in cylindrical body assemblies. By integrating computational modeling with analytical verification, the developed tool will provide engineers with a valuable resource to achieve optimal structural performance while addressing the complex challenges associated with bolted connections

    No full text
This study examined the vicarious trauma (VT) experienced by psychologists providing psychosocial support after the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes. It explored the mediator roles of coping strategies and the moderator roles of professional factors (supervision and training on psychological trauma) in the relationships between VT and both vicarious posttraumatic growth (VPTG) and vicarious posttraumatic depreciation (VPTD). The sample included 122 psychologists who provided post- earthquake psychosocial support and worked in clinical settings, recruited via purposive and snowball sampling on social media. Data were collected using the Demographic Information Form, Vicarious Trauma Scale, Ways of Coping Questionnaire, and Posttraumatic Growth and Depreciation Inventory—Expanded Version. Results of analyses showed that both seeking refuge in fate and seeking refuge in supernatural forces mediated the relationship between VT and VPTG. No coping strategy predicted VPTD or mediated the VT-VPTD relationship. Of the professional factors, only supervision predicted VPTG, while neither supervision nor training on psychological trauma predicted VPTD or moderated the VT-VPTG/VPTD relationships. These findings emphasize the need to include spiritual coping strategies and effective supervision into support programs for psychologists in post-disaster settings. Strengths, limitations, and future research directions are discussed

    No full text
With the official announcement of the new type of coronavirus-induced COVID-19 outbreak as a global pandemic, an extraordinary situation that no one has ever encountered has started. Just as life was about to return to normal in Türkiye, two devastating earthquakes, centered in Kahramanmaraş, affected ten different cities. Many global and national developments in various fields, which are expected to happen in the distant future, were completed within 3 years. One of these fields was undoubtedly education. Hybrid learning is seen as a trending educational approach combining face-to-face and online learning. Plastinated specimens come to the forefront for hybrid education with various advantageous features. They are not only non-toxic, dry, odorless materials, but also can simulate the natural anatomic appearance in detailed manner. With the help of new-generation acrylic paints and dyes which can penetrate into tissues, plastinates offer a unique natural look rather impressive than any other techniques. Due to the features mentioned above, plastinates are also convenient materials for handling, transportation or storage. These issues will be discussed in our article in terms of compatibility with hybrid learning. The aim of this article is to give ideas and make suggestions about how plastinates, which have been used efficiently in anatomy practices and professional training, can be used in hybrid veterinary anatomy education. © 2024, Ankara University. A Novel Chaotic Artificial Rabbits Algorithm for Optimization of Constrained Engineering Problems

    No full text
This study introduces a novel metaheuristic algorithm of optimization named Chaotic Artificial Rabbits Optimization (CARO) algorithm for resolving engineering design problems. In the newly introduced CARO algorithm, ten different chaotic maps are used with the recently presented Artificial Rabbits Optimization (ARO) algorithm to manage its parameters, eventually leading to an improved exploration and exploitation of the search. The CARO algorithm and familiar metaheuristic competitor algorithms were experimented on renowned five mechanical engineering problems of design, in brief; pressure vessel design, rolling element bearing design, tension/compression spring design, cantilever beam design and gear train design. The results indicate that the CARO is an outstanding algorithm compared with the familiar metaheuristic algorithms, and equipped with the best-optimized parameters with the minimal deviation in each case study. Metaheuristic algorithms are utilized to succeed in an optimal design in engineering problems targeting to achieve lightweight designs. In this present study, the optimum design of a vehicle brake pedal piece was achieved through topology and shape optimization methods. The brake pedal optimization problem in terms of the mass minimization is solved properly by using the CARO algorithm in comparison to familiar metaheuristic algorithms in the literature. Consequently, results indicate that the CARO algorithm can be effectively utilized in the optimal design of engineering problems

An Analysis of Sports Announcer Talk in Turkish

    No full text
The current study aims to describe macro and micro features of Turkish Sports Announcer Talk (SAT) quantitatively by applying a register analysis on reporting of a volleyball match. While analyzing the macro features, Reaser's (2003) communicative functions were taken into consideration whereas the micro features were analyzed based on the syntactic features described by Ferguson (1983). With this motivation, the first 15 minutes of two volleyball games reported by professional speakers on television during 2020 Tokyo Olympics were analyzed, and the results demonstrated that Turkish volleyball SAT demonstrates all macro structures framed by Reaser (2003) although most of the talk was spared for Action Description and Routines. Additionally, the contextual distribution of lexico-grammatical features Turkish SAT indicated that most of the syntactic features described by Ferguson (1983) as conventional were indeed functional in Turkish volleyball sportscasting context. Furthermore, some new syntactic features unique to Turkish SAT context were also detected. © 2023 Peter Lang Group AG, Lausanne. Published by Peter Lang GmbH, Berlin, Deutschland. 7th EuroAsian Biodiversity Symposium (SEAB-2024) August 22 to 24, 2024Biodiversity refers to the variety of all life forms, namely plants, animals, microorganisms and their genetic material, within an ecosystem or worldwide. This term encompasses genetic diversity (genetic differences within a species), species diversity (number of different species) and ecosystem diversity (variety of different ecosystems or habitats). International Day for Biological Diversity is a global event celebrated every year on May 22nd and aims to raise awareness about the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. In 2024, social media posts made within the scope of this event have great importance in terms of visual communication. Visual content attracts attention more quickly and effectively than written content. Content is usually consumed quickly on social media platforms. Therefore, using visually appealing designs is important to attract the attention of the target audience and increase their engagement. Visual communication design helps to convey messages more effectively by simplifying complex information and making it easier to understand. Infographics, video content and graphical data presentations in particular make information understandable and attractive. This study aims to evaluate social media posts for the International Day for Biodiversity 2024 from a visual communication design perspective. Animated graphic designs were preferred in social media designs for the International Day for Biodiversity. Different language options were created to customize the target audience. In this way, the target audience was encouraged to re-share the message. In the teaser prepared for the International Day for Biodiversity 2024, the target audience is encouraged to participate with the phrase Share information about your event. #PartOfThePlan was preferred as the hashtag in the posts.
