Okul Öncesi Dönem Çocuklarına Kavram Öğretiminde Görsel İletişim Tasarımının Rolü: Çocuk Kitapları Üzerinden Bir İnceleme

    No full text
It is important that the books used to teach concepts to preschool children are designed in accordance with visual communication design elements and principles. Baby University First Concept Stories series, which was selected as a purposeful sample in the research, was examined under the headings of internal and external structure. In the research, finding answers to questions such as whether the books have a common language in using design principles and elements, whether they make conceptual emphasis, whether the relationship between content and illustrations can be established, were sought using the content analysis method. In this story series examined, it is seen that conceptual emphasis is provided through the cooperation of visual and linguistic elements and the characters that play the subject role in the narration of concepts. Although a different style is adopted in the first two books of the Baby University series, it has been concluded that the design language is generally common and the books have a relationship between content and illustration

Silica Nanoparticles Tailored With a Molecularly Imprinted Copolymer Layer as a Highly Selective Biorecognition Element

    No full text
Molecularly imprinted silica nanoparticles (SP-MIP) are synthesized for the real-time optical detection of low-molecular-weight compounds. Azo-initiator-modified silica beads are functionalized through reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization, which leads to efficient control of the grafted layer. The copolymerization of methacrylic acid (MAA) and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) on azo initiator-coated silica particles (approximate to 100 nm) using chain transfer agent (2-phenylprop-2-yl-dithiobenzoate) is carried out in the presence of a target analyte molecule (l-Boc-phenylalanine anilide, l-BFA). The chemical and morphological properties of SP-MIP are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. Finally, SP-MIP is located on the gold surface to be used as a biorecognition layer on the surface plasmon resonance spectrometer (SPR). The sensitivity, response time, and selectivity of SP-MIP are investigated by three similar analogous molecules (l-Boc-Tryptophan, l-Boc-Tyrosine, and l-Boc-Phenylalanine) and the imprinted particle surface showed excellent relative selectivity toward l-Boc-Phenylalanine (l-BFA) (k = 61), while the sensitivity is recorded as limit of detection = 1.72 x 10(-4) m.Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) [112M804]H. A Review of the Recent Advances in Composite Membranes for Hydrogen Generation Technologies

    No full text
Keeping global warming at 2 degrees and below as stated in the Paris Climate Agreement and minimizing emissions can only be achieved by establishing a hydrogen (H-2) ecosystem. Therefore, H-2 technologies stand out in terms of accomplishing zero net emissions. Although H-2 is the most abundant element in the known universe, molecular H-2 is very rare in nature and must be produced. In H-2 production, reforming natural gas and renewable hydrogen processes using electrolyzers comes to the fore. The key to all these technologies is to enhance production speed, performance, and system lifetime. At this point, composite membranes used in both processes come to the fore. This review article summarizes composite membrane technologies used in methane, ethanol, and biomass steam reforming processes, proton exchange membranes, alkaline water electrolysis, and hybrid sulfur cycle. In addition to these common H-2 production technologies at large quantities, the innovative systems developed with solar energy integration for H-2 generation were linked to composite membrane utilization. This study aimed to draw attention to the importance of composite membranes in H-2 production. It aims to prepare a guiding summary for those working on membranes by combining the latest and cutting-edge studies on this subject.T?rkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu [122M037]; TUBITAKThe authors would like to acknowledge the partial financial support of TUBITAK under research contract number 122M037

Measurement of the Z Boson Invisible Width at √s=13 Tev With the Atlas Detector

    No full text
A measurement of the invisible width of the boson using events with jets and missing transverse momentum is presented using 37 fb(-1) of 13 TeV proton-proton data collected by the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016. The ratio of Z -> inv to Z -> ll events, where inv refers to non-detected particles and l is either an electron or a muon, is measured and corrected for detector effects. Events with at least one energetic central jet with p(T) >= 110 GeV are selected for both the Z -> inv and Z -> ll final states to obtain a similar phase space in the ratio. The invisible width is measured to be 506 +/- 2 (stat.) +/- 12 (syst.) MeV and is the single most precise recoil-based measurement. The result is in agreement with the most precise determination from LEP and the Standard Model prediction based on three neutrino generations. We thank CERN for the very successful operation of the LHC and its injectors, as well as the support staff at CERN and at our institutions worldwide without whom ATLAS could not be operated efficiently. Milletlerarası Taşıyıcı Annelik Sonucu Doğan Çocuğun Soybağına Uygulanacak Hukuk

    No full text
The method of surrogacy has always been the subject of legal, social, religious, and moral debates since its inception and has ultimately been prohibited in many countries. However, the global infertility rate of approximately 17.5% has led to the continued existence of surrogacy as a strong alternative to traditional assisted reproductive methods. It is estimated that around 20,000 children are born every year through this method. Many of these births are because of agreements between prospective parents residing in countries where the practise is prohibited and surrogate mothers residing in countries where it is permitted. Therefore, the initial challenge encountered at the birth of a child is the issue of establishing parentage between the prospective parents and the child. Although prohibited in Turkey, the legality of surrogacy in countries such as Greece, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Ukraine, and Georgia increases the likelihood of disputes related to international surrogacy before the Turkish courts. In this context, the article provides general information about surrogacy, examines how it is regulated in Turkish law and foreign legal systems, summarises the European Court of Human Rights’ approach, outlines the work of The Hague Conference on Private International Law, and determines the position of article 16 of Turkish International Private and Procedural Law (MÖHUK). As a result, since the current form of article 16 of MÖHUK does not allow to reach a law which establishes legal parentage between prospective parents and children, amendments have been proposed regarding the article

    History of Psychiatry

    No full text
Psychiatry has an exceptional place in medicine. This is due to the fact that it deals with different aspects of human beings. The history and ethics of psychiatry have become the subject of research because of the disciplinary characteristics of psychiatry. In this context, a brief but comprehensive framework of the history of psychiatry and psychiatric ethics should be presented in a book on psychiatric ethics. This section provides a comprehensive historical review of psychiatry and the evolution of psychiatric ethics, tracing the discipline’s metamorphosis from its earliest incarnations to contemporary practices. This study delves into the philosophical and medical perspectives that have shaped psychiatric thought, highlighting how ethical considerations have been deeply embedded in psychiatry since its inception. This section discusses the transformation of medical practices and the philosophical underpinnings of mental healthcare, reflecting on the evolution of patient care, societal attitudes, and the roles of medical practitioners. By examining key milestones and paradigm shifts, this section sheds light on the complex interplay between medical advancements and ethical considerations in psychiatry. It offers a nuanced understanding of psychiatry’s historical journey from ancient times to today and its implications for modern psychiatric practice. Disentangling Sources of Momentum Fluctuations in (Formula Presented) and (Formula Presented) Collisions with the ATLAS Detector

    No full text
High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [(Formula presented)]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of (Formula presented) in (Formula presented) and (Formula presented) collisions at (Formula presented) and 5.44 TeV, respectively, using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. All observables show distinct features in ultracentral collisions, which are explained by a suppression of the geometrical component as the overlap area reaches its maximum. These results demonstrate a new technique to separate geometrical and intrinsic fluctuations, providing constraints on initial conditions and properties of the quark-gluon plasma, such as the speed of sound. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved

Optimal Trajectory Tracking Control for a Quadrotor Uav Based on Off-Policy Reinforcement Learning

    No full text
6th International Congress on Human-Computer Interaction, Optimization and Robotic Applications, HORA 2024 -- 23 May 2024 through 25 May 2024 -- 200165Today, Quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) are used in a wide range of areas such as surveillance, fire fighting, search and rescue, disinfection, cargo transportation and photography. The use of quadrotors in a very wide area makes their trajectory tracking issue important. In order for quadrotors to fulfil their mission, they must be able to successfully track trajectory. In this study, the trajectory tracking of the quadrotor was achieved with an algorithm based on off-policy reinforcement learning under random noise. Modeling and simulations were carried out using the MATLAB program. Simulations were performed for the x, y, z trajectories and roll, pitch, yaw angles of the quadrotor and it was observed that the given references were followed successfully. © 2024 IEEE
