Transforming Pharmacy Students’ Perceptions of Diabetes: An Innovative Teaching Approach Using Patient Interviews and Photovoice
This study evaluated an innovative teaching methodology in a Health Anthropology course for Pharmacy students aimed at transforming their perceptions of diabetes. Through patient interviews and the photovoice technique, students gained deeper insights into the psychosocial aspects of the disease. Surveys were administered at the beginning, midpoint, and end of the course to assess shifts in students’ perspectives. The results revealed a significant change, with students evolving from a primarily biomedical view to a more holistic understanding, emphasizing the patient’s lived experience. Additionally, students responded positively to the innovative approach, citing enhanced motivation and learning, though some noted the methodology’s demanding workload. This teaching intervention fostered empathy and a broader perspective on the challenges faced by patients living with diabetes, supporting a more patient-centered and humanistic approach to healthcare. Despite the positive feedback, there was some uncertainty about whether this methodology could be applied to other subjects within the Pharmacy curriculum

Using popular science talks to foster interest in Economics among high school students
The declining interest in Economics majors in many countries among high school students and the lack of diversity of undergraduates in this field have recently become a source of concern for the academic community. In contrast with previous research examining nterventions to increase the interest in Economics mostly involving impersonal communication, this work, using a sample of Spanish students, explores the impact of popular science talks targeted at upper-secondary education pupils. Our results suggest that this intervention involving personal interaction with students effectively draws the attention of high school learners to Economics. Although there seems to be no difference in its impact according to the students’ characteristics, the greater diversity of the pupil population in secondary education compared to higher education suggests that this intervention might enhance the diversity of the pool of young people studying Economics.Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation of the University of SalamancaSpanish Agencia Estatal de InvestigaciónMinisterio de Ciencia e Innovació
Women Directors on Traditionally Male-Dominated Stock Exchange Boards: Can They Make a Difference?
Stock exchanges are regulated markets that promote sustainable business practices, including encouraging board gender diversity among listed companies. However, despite their essential role in advancing gender diversity at board level across companies, it is surprising that little research has investigated their internal efforts in implementing such practices. To fill this gap, we examine exchanges’ board gender diversity using a unique firm-level panel dataset comprising 22 equity stock exchanges representing 53 percent of the World Federation of Exchanges' total market capitalization covering 1995 to 2019. We find that board gender diversity increased and, drawing on resource dependence theory, we also examine its impact on performance. We find that the effect is positive, especially when women have competencies better adapted to the new exchanges’ business environment -business administration, international, and regulatory background- and when the CEO is a woman since she may legitimize those women's contributions and enable their impact on performance.Es la versión enviada del documento. Eco-driven choices: Green marketing orientation intervention toward green purchase intention in the home appliances industry
Pakistan's growing environmental challenges and the emergence of a green market underscore the necessity of understanding how green marketing strategies shape consumer behavior. Accordingly, this study offers a comprehensive contextual analysis by examining the top home appliance sector, providing valuable insights into sustainable consumption within an emerging economy. The focus of the study is to measure the mediating effect of green brand image, green customer satisfaction, and green customer loyalty in between green marketing orientation and purchase intention. In addition, the moderating effect of brand social responsibility and green trust was also measured in these relationships. The survey method was used for data collection. The data was collected from the managerial cadre employees of the top five home appliance companies of Pakistan. The stratified random sampling technique was used. The collected data was initially analyzed via partial least square structural equation model (PLS-SEM) method. The findings revealed that green marketing orientation is a significant predictor of green brand image, green customer loyalty, green customer satisfaction, and green purchase intention. The findings further revealed that green brand image, green customer loyalty, and green customer satisfaction significantly mediate between the green marketing orientation and green purchase intention. Moreover, brand social responsibility and green trust were also found a significant moderator in between green customer loyalty, green brand image, green customer satisfaction, and purchase intention. This study contributes to the literature and covers the deficiencies in the past literature and the methodological dimensions related to green marketing orientation and purchase intention
The institutionalization of an ethical culture through the implementation of compliance systems
This paper investigates the role of compliance systems in fostering ethical organizational cultures. It highlights the transition from norm-based systems, focused on sanctions and rule enforcement, to integrity-based approaches, prioritizing shared values and reciprocal ethical behavior. Departing from the 2010 Criminal Code reform that introduced corporate criminal liability, this paper is the first to analyze the traceability of ethical leadership in an ethical culture, paying special attention to the role of managerial motivations and organizational factors in institutionalizing an ethical culture through implementing compliance systems.
Using institutional theory, this study examines Spanish firms known as "ethical promoters," providing empirical evidence on the elements supporting the institutionalization of ethical culture. Results from a structural equation model suggest that integrity-based systems are more effective when supported by managerial commitment and employee engagement. The research also supports the theoretical concept of "evolutive compliance," integrating isomorphisms to institutionalize ethical culture. Insights from this study emphasize that ethical behavior requires more than a "tick-boxing" approach, urging companies to embed ethics within their practices holistically.Es la versión aceptada del artículo. Finite-dimensional flexible algebras associated with directed and weighted CW complexes
