    Evolving Legacy Model Transformations to Aggregate Non Functional Requirements of the Domain

    The use of Model Driven Development (MDD) is increasing in industry. When a Non Functional Requirement (NFR) not considered in the development must be added metamodels, models and also transformations are affected. Tasks for defining and maintaining model transformation rules can be complex in MDD. Model Transformation By Example (MTBE) approaches have been proposed to ease the development of transformation rules. In this paper an approach based on MTBE to derive the adaptation operations that must be implemented in a legacy model transformation when a NFR appears is presented. The approach derives semi-automatically the model transformations using execution traceability data and models differences. An example where access control property is integrated on a MDD system is introduced to demonstrate the usefulness of the tool to evolve model transformations

Ikusi dugu ikasle entzuleek erabilitako markatzaileak gorrek erabilitakoetatik desberdintzen direla: eskuzko markatzaileek presentzia handiagoa dute entzuleen testuetan eta horrekin batera, markatzaile espazialak urriagoak dira eta eskuzko markatzaileez lagunduta agertzen dira. Ondorioei dagokienez, espainiar zeinu-hizkuntzaren modalitate espazialak eragin zuzena duela konexioan ikusi da eta hizkuntzaren ikaste-prozesuan kontuan izan beharreko ezaugarria litzateke.The main goal of this investigation is to analyze the use of discourse markers produced by hearing students of Spanish sign language interpretation in texts. The markers used by the students are compared with referential social practice of Spanish sign language, in text produced by deafs. We have seen that there are differences between the markers used by hearing students and deafs: hearing students produce more manual markers than deafs and spatial markers are used less, and when, they are used together with manual markers. We have concluded that Spanish sign language modality has a direct influence on the connection and it is a characteristic to consider in the language learning proces

    Eyeface : a new multimethod tool to evaluate the perception of conceptual user experiences

    Based on the identification of a new multimethod tool necessity, a new tool called Eyeface has been created by combining two different devices: the Eye-tracking and the Facereader. This research work analyses a new multimethod tool to evaluate the user experience perception in the conceptualisation phase within the experience design process. To this end, an experiment has been carried out analysing the correlation between the Eyeface and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule – Expanded Form (PANAS-X) evaluation tool. The result of this study showed a high similarity between each devicés results, and thus concluded that the Eyeface fits as a concept evaluation tool within the experience design process

    In Bayesian Optimization, when using a Gaussian Process prior, some kernels adapt better than others to the objective function. This research evaluates the possibility of dynamically changing the kernel function based on the probability of improvement. Five kernel selection strategies are proposed and tested in well known synthetic functions.     Procedure to predict residual stress pattern in spray transfer multipass welding

    Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) is one of the most used joining method in the industry. However, one of the main problems of this process is the generation of residual stresses which have direct impact on the fatigue life of welded components. Nevertheless, residual stress pattern prediction is complex and requires the simulation of the welding process. Currently, there are different numerical methods to predict the residual stresses generated in GMAW process, being Goldak’s method one of the most widely used model. However, the main limitation of these methods is that they require defining many parameters experimentally and, consequently, this method is not valid during design process. Alternatively, in this work, it is developed a procedure where the heat source is defined based on the welding physics for spray transfer welding. The developed procedure has been validated for a spray transfer multipass butt weld case. Results have shown good correspondence with an average deviation of 9.16 % in thermal field and 42 MPa in the final residual stress field. Thus, the developed procedure has been validated as a cost-effective alternative method to estimate residual stress pattern in spray transfer multipass welding. Furthermore, the developed method does not require any welding experimental characterization once the efficiency of the used welding machine is defined. The proposed method can be used as a valid tool to optimize the welding process in order to minimize the residual stress field and, consequently, improve the fatigue life

    Optimizing Polymer Lab-on-Chip Platforms for Ultrasonic Manipulation: Influence of the Substrate

    The choice of substrate material in a chip that combines ultrasound with microfluidics for handling biological and synthetic microparticles can have a profound effect on the performance of the device. This is due to the high surface-to-volume ratio that exists within such small structures and acquires particular relevance in polymer-based resonators with 3D standing waves. This paper presents three chips developed to perform particle flow-through separation by ultrasound based on a polymeric SU-8 layer containing channelization over three different substrates: Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA); Pyrex; and a cracked PMMA composite-like structure. Through direct observations of polystyrene microbeads inside the channel, the three checked chips exhibit their potential as disposable continuous concentration devices with different spatial pressure patterns at frequencies of resonance close to 1 Mhz. Chips with Pyrex and cracked PMMA substrates show restrictions on the number of pressure nodes established in the channel associated with the inhibition of 3D modes in the solid structure. The glass-substrate chip presents some advantages associated with lower energy requirements to collect particles. According to the results, the use of polymer-based chips with rigid substrates can be advantageous for applications that require short treatment times (clinical tests handling human samples) and low-cost fabrication
