Exploring requirements for the development and implementation of VR rehabilitation programs for long/post COVID patients : a qualitative mixed-methods study
An essential step to address persistent symptoms of Long/Post COVID patients lies in the implementation of flexible and accessible respiratory rehabilitation programs. Currently, access to rehabilitation is limited by a lack of available services as well as the physical impairments of those affected by the disease. Virtual reality technologies (VR) offer the potential to support traditional therapies with individualized at home programs. Initial findings on respiratory VR rehabilitation show that the usability and practical applicability of digital programs play an important role in the successful implementation. This study therefore evaluates physiotherapy implemented by a VR application as part of a co-creative, iterative development process with the aim of ensuring usability and acceptance by patients and physiotherapists. Further, requirements for the practical implementation of respective programs as well as the specific needs of the user groups were investigated. Physiotherapists and Long/Post COVID patients evaluated a VR prototype at five stages of development. Feedback was gathered via focus groups and expert interviews. Results then contributed to the further development of the application until relevant requirements for the development of a final prototype could be defined. Overall, it was found that the immersive VR-supported training sessions were well received by patients. However, obstacles which primarily relate to a lack of digital literacy and adverse effects were also reported. Accordingly, prerequisites such as training and technical support for the user groups as well as a target group-oriented design of the applications are necessary for VR rehabilitation to be accepted

Health behaviour of older adults with neurological disorders : predictors of nonadherence and influence on quality of life
Medication is the cornerstone in treating chronic illness, yet up to 50% of older patients do not take their medication as prescribed. This nonadherence leads to worse health outcomes and lower quality of life (QoL). Only 21% of N = 910 older patients with neurological disorders reported to be fully adherent. Subtypes of nonadherence, namely forgetting to take medication, missing knowledge about medication, and intentional modification of medication, are differently influenced by clinical factors, but polypharmacy and depressiveness are core predictors. The depressive symptoms loss of interest, difficulty with concentration and fatigue connect nonadherence with other affective or somatic depressive symptoms. QoL is not linked with nonadherence when controlling for covariates; rather, both seem influenced by similar factors. Although cognition and polypharmacy play a role, depressive symptoms are drivers of nonadherence in this patient population and should be targeted in interventions
Search term validation in agricultural economics : conceptual background and application
Agricultural and environmental economists frequently use content analysis of textual data to gain a deeper understanding of public discourses that reflect the conflicting interests and attitudes of various stakeholders with regard to agricultural issues. These discourses encompass topics such as nitrogen leaching, climate change, biodiversity loss, and animal welfare. However, the procedural standards of content analysis established in communication studies are rarely fully adhered to due to a lack of interdisciplinary communication. This paper provides applied agricultural economists with a conceptual background to systematic search term validation to facilitate the transparent generation of high-quality databases for the content analysis of large datasets
A reassessment of the Neotropical Cyathea pungens complex (Cyatheaceae)
Cyathea pungens, a widespread Neotropical scaly tree fern, is reassessed taxonomically. Based on extensive field observations in South America and the Caribbean, and comparative studies of herbarium specimens and online resources, we define C. pungens as a mainly Amazonian species that extends into the Caribbean but neither beyond west of the Andes nor into the Brazilian Mata Atlantica. Records from west of the Colombian Cordillera Oriental belong to other species, which differ slightly but consistently in the laminar indument (i.e., abundance and color of bullate squamules, and presence of hairs variable vs constant) and prevailing pinnule shape (with only obtuse tips vs acute and obtuse tips). The weak differences in the specimens are generally corroborated by different appearances in the field (i.e., shape of the blades, and number of pinnae) and preferred elevational ranges. The distributions of C. pungens and C. oblonga overlap in the area of the Guyana shield, but C. oblonga is also found along the Caribbean coast and northern lowlands of Colombia and Venezuela. Both species are rarely found above 1000 m and are largely replaced in the mountains by C. klotzschiana (Colombian Cordillera Oriental, Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and Venezuelan coastal ranges) and C. pastazensis (Colombian Cordillera Central and Occidental as well as eastern Andean slopes of Ecuador). To this group further belongs C. dombeyi from the Andes of Peru and Bolivia, and the reinstated C. pycnocarpa and C. floribunda from Peru and Bolivia. Several additional species are tentatively placed in this group: the northern Andean C. squamata, the Guayanan C. neblinae, Brazilian C. praecincta and Andean C. werffii
Intergenerational solidarity : a study of psychological predictors of macro-level intergenerational solidarity within specific crises and crisis-overarching, in different generational directions, and across different cultures
Many large-scale crises are characterized by intergenerational dynamics. In the COVID-19
pandemic, for example, older people were among the most affected in terms of health. In the
climate crisis and other environmental crises, it is the young and future generations that will be
among the most affected. More affected generations often depend on less affected generations
to mitigate the respective crisis on their behalf, i.e., to act in intergenerational solidarity. The
aim of this dissertation was to identify predictors of macro-level intergenerational solidarity in
specific crises (COVID-19 pandemic and climate crisis) and crises-overarching, as well as in
different generational directions and socio-cultural contexts. To this end, I drew on variables
that have successfully explained intergroup and intergenerational prosociality in the past,
namely intergroup contact, social identification and affinity, and legacy motivation, and applied
them to the intergenerational context. I examined whether intergenerational contact (RQ1),
social closeness between generations conceptualized as social identification and affinity (RQ2),
and legacy motivation (RQ3) were predictive of macro-level intergenerational solidarity. Four
online survey studies were conducted and published in three papers. Study 1 examined COVID-
19 containment behavior and support for COVID-19 containment measures (crisis-specific
solidarity with older people) of young people (N = 258 16-to-30-year-olds) and used a
correlative design to test RQ1 and RQ2. Study 2 examined crisis-overarching intergenerational
political solidarity among older people (56- to 87-/ 88-year-olds) in three countries (USA: N =
399; Germany: N = 401; Brazil: N = 403) and used a correlative design to test RQ1, RQ2, and
RQ3. Study 3 examined climate protection behavior and intentions (crisis-specific solidarity
with younger and future generations) of older people (N = 411, 55-to-75-year-olds) and used a
correlative design to test RQ1, RQ2, and RQ3. Study 4 examined climate protection intentions
(crisis-specific solidarity with younger and future generations) of older people (N = 309 55-to-
86-year-olds) and experimentally tested RQ2. In summary, the results indicate that
intergenerational contact and especially its quality are relevant predictors of intergenerational
solidarity. Intergenerational affinity, but not a general intergenerational identification, emerged
as significant predictors of intergenerational solidarity. Furthermore, the motivation to leave a
positive legacy emerged as a predictor of intergenerational solidarity. These mechanisms were
found to be both crisis-specific and crisis-overarching, suggesting that the model could be
applied to different crises and contexts. In addition, the model was validated in three countries
that differ in variables such as demographics, language, and culture, suggesting that the
postulated mechanisms can be applied to different socio-cultural backgrounds.

Literaturverzeichnis: Seite 3
Vector optimization with variable domination structure : a unifying approach
We revisit two types of constrained vector optimization problems driven by set-valued maps, where the domination structure is defined by a cone-valued map. Within the framework of variable domination structures, we demonstrate that the approaches used in the literature cover each other. This observation enables us to design unified methods for deriving necessary optimality conditions in both cases. Our results rely on key concepts such as the Extremal Principle and the inherent incompatibility between openness and efficiency, encompassing several well-known assertions in this area of research

Anhand der skizzierten The-
Secondary aluminum offers an attractive alternative to primary aluminum production due to its
ecological, economic and social advantages and plays an important role in sustainable metal pro-
cessing. Despite many advantages such as energy savings, resource conservation, waste- or
CO2- reduction, the secondary aluminum industry is striving for continuous improvement in order
to ensure the economical manufacture of products with the highest possible and reproducible
quality characteristics. Despite measures that have already been implemented to reduce the reject
rate, improve quality or modify mechanical properties by adding defined alloying agents, the de-
sired requirement profiles cannot be fully guaranteed. One of the deficits, especially for the mag-
nesium-containing aluminum rolling ingots produced in the vertical semi-continuous continuous
casting process, is the surface defect in the form of vertical wrinkles. Trial-and-error tests in in-
dustrial applications have shown that the defect can be reduced via the casting speed. The re-
maining surface irregularities are removed after the casting process by means of a milling process.
This dissertation addresses this problem. The aim of this thesis was to investigate potential met-
allurgical and technological influencing factors that could confirm the phenomenon of vertical wrin-
kling. A subsequent material and vertical wrinkle characterization using suitable testing and meas-
uring methods, such as optical microscopy, EDX analyses, measurements of the oxide layer thick-
nesses and the influence of an inert shielding gas between liquid metal and oxygen should provide
further insights. With the aid of a simulation model, it was possible to carry out the casting process
using various alloys and to identify differences. After interpreting the results, experimental inves-
tigations, which included measuring the residual stresses in the ingot or the effectiveness of a
modified shielding gas supply, could be derived and carried out.
By combining all the findings, it was possible to derive a dependency on various factors and thus
approach the problem. Future industrially usable applications can be implemented on the basis of
the outlined topics and solution approaches.Literaturverzeichnis: Seite 130-14
