Spiritual Exercises, Metaphorology and Philosophical Counseling.
The aim of this article is to analyze the possibilities of applying metaphorology in philosophical counseling, based on the philosophical insights of Hans Blumenberg and Pierre Hadot. Metaphorology, or non-conceptual theory, is a direction marked by Blumenberg. Its possibility of is completely unexplored in philosophical counseling. Hadot is primarily known for his exceptionally original interpretation of Ancient Philosophy and his entrenched conception of spiritual exercises. The concepts are difficult to apply in a specific existential situation, but metaphors focus on human imagery and are a kind of gestalt of reality. Spiritual exercises perceived as a philosophical way of life help to concretize the theory and to apply it in life situations
Testing a multi-criteria evaluation tool for troop-leading procedures teaching.
Troop-leading Procedures are the most important discipline in cadets’ military education. The aim of the subject of Troop leading Procedures is to teach the cadet to apply a systematic planning algorithm to solve typical and recurring problems in military activity. This is one of the most important components of a future officer’s military management literacy. While this is an important subject matter, however, there is a lack of reliable military teaching approaches. The article investigates whether the multi-criteria evaluation method can be applied in the teaching and evaluation of the subject of Troop-leading Procedures. Action research has practically tested a multi-criteria evaluation tool in teaching. The study revealed that the multi-criteria evaluation method can be successfully applied in the teaching of the subject of Troop-leading Procedures and in the evaluation of the teaching process. It has been established that this innovation creates conditions for improving the results of achievement assessments, provides positive experiences, forms positive attitudes towards teaching and learning, also helps the teacher to act more effectively during teaching
An impact effect of baseline stress on deployment traumatic stress level /
Most of research studies focusing on deployment now are trying to determine not only the level of deployment stress, but are interested in relationship between experienced traumatic events, stress coping strategies during deployment and health status after soldiers are coming home. Our small study of peacekeepers was design to look at stress level of servicemen during different “end points “– before, during and after the deployment and to analyse possible risk factors for its changes after traumatic event. Dynamic changes of their psychological and general health status were observed with respect to frequently used stress coping strategies during exposure to various traumatic events during deployment and basic stress level at home before deployment. For that purpose, blood samples for stress biomarkers MDA (TBARS) were taken 2 times - before and after the deployment. The questionnaire for stress level dynamic changes, psychological reactions to traumatic events (SCL-90 and PIES) were used, as well as analysis of health status trends during deployment in relationship with the baseline stress. Data showed significant impact of baseline stress on traumatic stress level. Therefore, mental health strengthening programme before deployment by active resilience and stress coping training is strongly recommended
The Expression of Leadership in Permanent Compulsory Initial Military Service.
Leadership is a process when a person influences group members in pursuit of the goals of the group or organization. The doctrine of training the Lithuanian Armed Forces states that a soldier is a leader who inspires a nearby soldier to be a leader. It is emphasised that precisely such soldiers are needed in the Lithuanian army. The objective of the research is to investigate the expression of leadership in soldiers serving in permanent compulsory primary military service. Three tasks were set in the thesis: 1) to analyse the expression of leadership of permanent compulsory military service soldiers from a theoretical point of view; 2) to study the aspects of the expression of the leadership of the soldiers of the permanent compulsory initial military service; 3) to set priorities for the promotion of the expression of leadership in permanent compulsory initial military service. Two research methods were used in the thesis, namely the analysis of scientific and methodological literature and the quantitative research - a questionnaire survey for soldiers of the permanent compulsory primary military service. Examining the aspects of the expression of leadership of permanent compulsory military service soldiers, it was found that the four factors of leadership expression are highly valued, namely competence, formation of a culture of purposeful leadership, commitment and desire to achieve a goal and intelligence. It was also found that the priorities for the promotion of leadership expression in permanent compulsory military service should be focused on four factors of the leadership expression i.e., initiative, trust, common understanding and risk tolerance
Creative problem solving approach to enhance the intellectual skills and innovation management competencies of future military officers /
Global change, unstable and rapidly changing international and national security environment and the problems that causes, force public sector organizations, including the military, to take creative and innovative solutions (Giedraityte, 2020). Therefore, such intellectual skills, as, creative thinking, critical thinking and innovative problem solving, also competencies to implement innovation and to create an innovation-friendly environment are necessary for the modern and future military officer leader. Creative problem solving (CPS) is named as one of the most appropriate approaches enhancing abilities that involves encountering gaps, opportunities and challenges, generating and examining varied possibilities, choosing on certain options and confronting complex problems in an uncertain and dynamic world. CPS also can help to develop some personal characteristics that increase motivation to adapt change, to make and implement innovative decisions, to operate flexibly, to assess and manage risk factors and ect. (Treffinger et al., 2006; Khalid, 2020). Creative problem solving approach increasingly applicable in the training of cadets (future military officers), improving the qualifications of military officers and in the practice of military decision making. For example, creativity occupies a significant place in cadet training programs in The United States Military Academy (Operational Concept, West Point, n.d.) or in preparedness SOF professionals in The Joint Special Operations University (JSOU, 2021). In the study programs of the Military Academy of Lithuania (MAL), the creative problem-solving approach was introduced more intensively a few years ago, therefore the purpose of this article is using document analysis and interview data to discuss the advantages, peculiarities, positive and negative experience of applying CPS in forming cadets' intellectual skills and innovation management competencies

Assessment of the impact of road transport change on the security of the urban social environment /
In the context of accelerating urbanization, cities must ensure a viable economy, social well-being, and a healthy environment. Transport is one of the key conditions for economic development and meeting the needs of countries, regions, and cities. However, transport must meet not only the physiological but also the social needs of society, one of which is environmental security. Urban transport accounts for around 40% of CO2 emissions and 70% of other pollutants from road transport. Thus, one of the most difficult issues for any city to address when building bypasses is the growing number of cars in the city, traffic congestion, and the reduction of all greenhouse gas emissions. The documents adopted in July 2020 aim to revitalize the EU’s economy by moving towards a green economy and sustainability. In addition to the systematic and comparative analysis of concepts published in the scientific literature, the article also presents an analysis of the concepts of a sustainable city, sustainable transport, as well as a study of the social impact of bypasses and the assessment of the security of the social environment in the Baltic capitals. The aim of the article is to assess the impact of the growing number of vehicles on the security of the city’s social environment. Research results show that the number of pollutants, a direct dependence between the number of pollutants and the driving speed was established. So, that’s why it needs to make investments in the transport sector: improve roads, construction of bypasses, and technical parameters of purchased cars
