Organization’s performance assessment of Lithuanian Land forces Juozas Lukša training center.
Constant performance efficiency and enhancement is the key line of effort for every mature organization. The decision to take quality approach ensures organization’s sustained future development. The key aspect in performance improvement is the performance assessment. Bachelor's thesis reveal what level of priority does Lithuanian military professional education organization, Juozas Lukša training center, pay to its performance and improvement. Thesis is up to four tasks: 1. To analyze performance assessment approaches applied within civilian and military domains, 1a. To overview and analyze performance assessment approaches for organizations, 1b. To analyze performance assessment approaches used amongst Lithuanian military organizations. 2. To adopt most suitable approach to military organization – Juozas Lukša training center. 3. To assess Juozas Lukša training center using adopted approach. 4. To provide the list of recommended actions to be taken in order to improve the performance. The hypothesis – performance evaluation approaches used amongst civilian organizations can be applied to assess military organization (training center). As an instrument to check the hypothesis, Common assessment framework (CAF) was selected, adopted and applied. CAF is composed of nine main assessment criterions deriving from principles of quality management. To prove the validity of CAF the analysis of documents and the interviews of experts were conducted. It has to be stated that all experts have connection with the chosen organization. The assessment is focused on Juozas Lukša training center within quality management perspective. It reveals strengths and weaknesses and suggest the action to be taken in order to improve the performance
The problem of creating a universal manual for the military (The case of the Russian Language Manual).
The article scrutinizes the problem of writing a specialized manual for a particular target group such as the military. The aim of the article is to determine the conceptual platform for the creation of a new-generation Russian language manual for military personnel, and to determine the specifics of its content. The objectives of the study also include determining the scope and principles of the selection of teaching material, in particular linguocultural, which ensures adequate communication in Russian. The research is based on the descriptiveanalytical method. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)It comprises many issues that are related to the linguistic particularities of designing a manual. Thus, a textbook on the Russian language for military personnel should ensure that students develop a whole range of competencies related to oral and written language proficiency, which are combined into a general communicative competence. Communicative competence is based on the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired in the course of training, providing the opportunity to participate in speech communication in its different types: receptive (listening, reading) and productive (speaking, writing). Therefore, the content of communicative competence consists of the following types of competence, such as linguistic (language) competence, which implies a set of knowledge about language elements and the ability to use them to express individual thoughts and comprehend them to others. Moreover, speech competence implies knowledge that is important to express numerous ideas through quite a few language means, which make possible to organize and implement them into a speech action so that to realize communicative intention. In addition, the concept of communicative competence can also include social competence. For instance, desire and ability to enter into communication with other people and discursive competence (knowledge of the rules of constructing a coherent oral and written message - discourse), subject and strategic competence (ability to choose the most effective ways to master the material and use it in solving communicative tasks). All of these types of competence need to be taken into account when creating textbooks, study books, and manuals designed to teach the Russian language to military personnel. Consequently, all texts, tasks, and materials presented in them should be aimed at creating all of the aforementioned competencies. Naturally, the material placed in a textbook should be multi-layered - it should contain linguacultural, social, professional, etc. aspects in addition to purely linguistic information
Securing Schools against Terrorist Attacks /
The population is nowadays increasingly threatened by events that have an immediate impact on their health and lives. One of the most endangered targets are the so-called soft targets. These are such targets that are characterized by a high population concentration, and low or even no level of security against violent or even terrorist attacks. The research carried out by the authors clearly showed that one of the important and easily vulnerable soft targets are schools. This article focuses on the safety of schools and their facilities. The authors focused on finding out the safety of schools as soft targets in the Czech Republic. The security level of schools was measured at selected nursery, elementary, and secondary schools in the city of Brno. As well as technical elements, other factors contributing to the overall safety of schools were also verified. It was found that although a large number of schools have at least basic elements of security available, systemic and organizational measures are not sufficient for technical measures to be important
Comprehensive Assessment of Distance Learning Modules by Fuzzy AHP‐TOPSIS Method /
Abstract: This survey is focussed on distance learning studies, where there can be met a lot of technical obstacles, which creates complications in decision making. To get an ideal solution for these kinds of problems, the Fuzzy TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarities to Ideal Solution) is one of the best solutions. Therefore, this paper presents the distance learning quality assessment surveys when the Fuzzy AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and TOPSIS methods are used. Research results describe the application of the Fuzzy AHP—TOPSIS hybrid method. MCDM (Multi‐Criteria Decision Making) programs with MATLAB (R2020b) mathematical package were written to calculate the evaluation results for three distance learning courses. In the practical implementation of the proposed distance learning module evaluation methodology, the experts’ evaluation method was applied. Thirty‐four judges were chosen with specific knowledge and skills and with very different competencies to assess three alternatives by fourteen criteria. Following the experts’ evaluation, a statistical analysis method was used to process the data. After applying the complex evaluation, the comparative analysis method was used to summarize the obtained results. This work further provides useful guidelines for the development of an easily understandable hierarchy of criteria model that reflects the main goal of study quality assessment
Eksporto – ekonomikos augimo ryšys pasaulio regionuose: viešosios politikos kryptys.
This paper has examined a long-run causal nexus between export and economic growth in six regions of the world. For this purpose, the authors have applied the Granger causality test. Using annual data for the period of 1971 – 2018, the authors have tested the direction of the causality between the variables. The research has found unidirectional causality running from export to economic growth in Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania. Moreover, the research has noticed the absence of the Granger causality in Africa and Latin America & the Caribbean. The findings could be useful in implementing regional policy. In Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania policy makers should aware of the importance of trade and focus on implementing export oriented policies to stimulate economic development
Effects of climate change on environmental sustainability /
Adaptation strategies to the climate change include measures that can be taken to take account of the new climatic conditions. This paper aims at assessing the effects of climate change on environmental sustainability. This sustainability constitutes a major problem in many countries and regions around the world that experience industrial pollution, degradation of land as well as natural disasters caused by the global warming. The paper shows that adaptation strategies are often parallel strategies that can be integrated simultaneously with the management of natural resources. They can make resources more efficient and resilient to climate change. The paper shows that reducing the carbon footprint by more than 50 percent by 2030 and eliminating it by 2050 might be a viable solution how to tackle the climate change and support the environmental sustainability
The Effect of Perceptions on Service Robot Usage Intention: A Survey Study in the Service Sector /
The current age of artificial intelligence, along with the advent of robots, portends increased use of innovative technologies in the tourism industry, with higher levels of service innovation than in many other industries. Also in addition, factors such as an approaching worldwide pandemic have limited the amount of physical contact that people can have. So as a result, the use of service robots in service areas, such as tourism, has recently become controversial. In this study, accommodation customers’ perceptions of advantages and disadvantages about robots and the effect of the perceived value on of their intention to use them were investigated. Within the scope of the research, data were collected from 1408 people living in various cities in Turkey through an online survey. The data were analyzed by structural equation modeling. As a result of the analyzes, it was found that the perception of advantage and the perceived value affect the intention to use service robots positively and significantly. It has been determined that the perception of disadvantage affects the intention to use service robots negatively and significantly. The research results show that the accommodation companies should be innovative and rapidly transition to robotization, as in the manufacturing industry. Advanced technological innovation applications, such as service robots, will play an essential role in the revival of the tourism industry, especially during the global epidemic
New approaches for security based on the properties of nanodiamonds /
The study has been performed to exhibit the magnetic properties of the hydrogenated nanodimond with nitrogen defect. The results obtained allows us to gain evidence that viruses-sensor employing nanodiamond with paramagnetic centre could be created. The Becke’s three-parameter hybrid functional, applying the non-local correlation provided by Lee, Yang, and Parr method with the 6-31G basis was approached. We found that the above compound substituted by banzoic acid possesses unpaired electrons and their magnetic properties are electric field depended. The possibility to create a biosensor employing nanodiamond with paramagnetic centre is foreseen
Does causality exist between exports and economic development? Evidence from selected EU countries /
The investigation focuses on the assessment of inter-linkages between exports performance and economic development in selected EU countries, such as Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Luxembourg, Denmark, and Iceland. The research covers the period between 1990 and 2019. The author has employed econometric techniques in order to explore inter-linkages between the variables. The correlation analysis has revealed very strong and positive inter-relationships between exports and development in all of the countries under consideration. The Granger causality test has shown evidence of a bidirectional link between exports performance and economic development in Denmark, causality which runs from real GDP per capita to exports per capita in Luxembourg and Iceland, a causal link from exports to development in Latvia, and no causal links between the variables for Lithuania and Estonia. The insights could be useful in terms of the implementation of economic policy aimed at promoting sustainable development in EU countries
