Systemy walutowe współczesnego świata
The article explores the coherence of monetary systems in Europe after the Great Depression. It shows that while exchange rates remained more stable than in early 1930s, this was neither the result of international arrangements (the tripartite agreement notwithstanding) nor of well executed monetary policies on the state level, but rather a consequence of the division of the world into blocs, and increased isolation of many states from the world market through exchange control. With international trade increasingly conducted via bilateral clearing agreements, in some countries local currencies became independent of each other via the lack of the mediating effect of prices and specie flows. At the same time, the power of transnational institutions (such as the Economic and Financial Organization of the League of Nations or the Bank for International Settlements) was too small to meaningfully impact these arrangements.155-17
Nauka i Szkolnictwo wyższe
The aim of this paper is to confront the economic fate of 2014 graduates of selected
atypical degree courses as second-degree studies with opinions and information contained in reports and resolutions of the Presidium of the Polish Accreditation Committee. This combination will be used to verify the hypothesis that the PKA reports and assessments do not always contain
information that could be useful in choosing the field of study.1219 - 23

Proceedings of the International Scientific Conference Economic Sciences for Agribusiness and Rural Economy No 2
The aim of the study is to analyse how the social capital in Poland affects contracting. It’s role is significant
as the contracts concluded on the market are incomplete, i.e. they do not regulate all the issues explicitly. The
effects of contractual incompleteness can be mitigated by the high level of trust and well-developed social
capital. However, the research results show that the level of trust in Poland has been low for years and that
social capital remains underdeveloped. It prevents the social capital to fulfil its role as a factor supporting the
conclusion of contracts properly. This results in a real loss for enterprises, as part of the transactions is not
conducted.Proceedings of the 2018 International Scientific Conference ‘Economic Sciences for Agribusiness and Rural Economy’ No 2, Warsaw, 7–8 June 2018267–272

This study aims to present changes that are taking place in the market of logistics services as a result of the development of
digital technologies and show their influence on the business models of logistics service providers. In her research, the author
applied Porter’s 5 forces model as a theoretical framework for the analysis in the area of innovation and technology in logistics.
The study uses the deduction method. This is a conceptual paper based on the analysis of secondary materials, i.e., examples
of innovative logistics solutions, reports of research agencies and consulting companies, and literature studies. The results of
the analysis show that we are dealing with the digital transformation of the logistics service industry (not digital destruction).
Technologies like sensors, robots, automation, cloud computing, data analysis, 3D printing, autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, digital twins or blockchain technology supplement but not replace the real world of logistics by providing customers
with higher logistics service value.
The non-linear nature of country risk and its implications for DSGE models
Country risk premia can substantially affect macroeconomic dynamics. We concentrate on one of their most important determinants - a country’s net foreign asset position and - in contrast to the existing research - investigate its nonlinear link to risk premia.
The importance of this particular non-linearity is twofold. First, it allows to identify the NFA level above which the elasticity becomes much (possibly dangerously) higher. Second, such a non-linear relationship is a standard ingredient of DSGE models, but its proper calibration/ estimation is missing. Our estimation shows that indeed the link is highly nonlinear and helps to identify the NFA position where the non-linearity kicks in at approximately -70% to -75% of GDP. We also provide a proper calibration of the
risk premium - NFA relationship which can be used in DSGE models and demonstrate that its slope matters significantly for economic dynamics in such a model.2018/0351-33SGH KAE Working Papers Serie
International Journal of Management and Economics
The core objective of this paper is to determine the main political and economic conditions and challenges related to the possible evolution of the integration process in the euro area toward fiscal federalism and fiscal union as a way to increase the capacity of the area to cope with future economic and financial crises. The issue of a separate budget for this area is of particular interest in this article. The idea of such a budget has recently become the subject of lively public debate in the European Union and has been a factor in encouraging the European Commission to propose new solutions at the end of 2017 in the field of economic governance of the euro area, including the establishment of a European Monetary Fund. The analysis carried out in this article leads to the conclusion that under the current conditions, there is little chance of introducing such regulatory and institutional changes that would significantly increase the scale of financial transfers between the euro area member states.285–985
What happens after an investment spike - investment events and firm performance
Our study aims at investigating the relationship between investment spikes andsubsequent productivity development at the firm level. We propose a novel identification scheme for the effects of an investment spike, using matching techniques andadequate econometric modelling. It allows us to find efficiency differentials againstmatched firms. We showed that TFP falls after an investment spike and slowly recovers thereafter, which is consistent with learning-by-doing effects. For smaller firmsthe fall is more pronounced and the subsequent recovery is longer. On the contrary, labor productivity rises after
an investment spike, driven mainly by capital deepen-ing. The increase of sales after a spike suggests that expansion is the main purpose of an investment spike and rising employment confirms that this type of investmentis complementary to labor. As firms with spikes are on average more efficient andinvestment spikes attract resources and production factors, it suggests that improved allocative efficiency is an important factor driving positive macroeconomic correlation between investment and TFP.2018/0401-32SGH KAE Working Papers Serie
On the trade-offs in money market benchmarks' stabilisation
We propose a theoretical stochastic set-up for a panel of contributors to a volume weighted raw money market index, which is the main contribution of this research. 'The hypothetical problems with: changes in the panel's composition as well as the irregularity of daily contributions may strongly influence the utility of a final benchmark to be used in medium and long term loan contracts, especially with retail clients. Our focus is on several classes of benchmarks' formulae that are derived from this raw index and allow for some confinement of the mentioned drawbacks while decreasing quality measured by other criteria (goodness of fit). The set of classes include: the geometric time weights with different smoothing parameters and observation window's length used on the original raw index, stabilisation of the raw index in bands, rolling window volume weights rebalancing and finally the geometric time weights performed on log-transformed index (log-raw index is calculated from volume logarithms). The potential trade-offs in such a benchmark's stabilisation efforts are shown.2018/0391-19SGH KAE Working Papers Serie
