Improved Full Control of Variable-Pitch Wind System Based on the DFIG using Third Order Sliding Mode Control in All Operating Zones
International audienceThis paper suggests full control of a variable-pitch wind system (VPWS) based on a doubly fed induction generator (DFIG); by using the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and pitch angle control strategies by employing a third order sliding mode controller (TOSMC) to ensure a better performance against stochastic wind variations. Knowing that the TOSMC constitutes an effective and promising solution regarding the minimization of the chattering caused by the first and second order sliding mode controllers on the one hand and on the other to ensure fast and good tracking. In this context, the MPPT strategy has been designed with the TOSMC to ensure maximum exploitation from the VPWS on the one hand, on the other hand, the pitch angle control strategy has been designed to limit the power extracted to its maximum value as well as to ensure the stability of the VPWS against high wind speeds. To test the robustness of the proposed controller, a comparative study between the other controllers was performed. Simulation results are validated using two different wind speed profiles (step and random change of wind speed) under Matlab/Simulink environment. The results obtained demonstrated the robustness of the proposed controller compared to other conventional controllers
Milton in Veneto. The Circulation of the First Illustrated Italian Translation of 'Paradise Lost'
International audience'Paradise Lost' is a good example of the circulation of texts and books in 18th century Europe, as the work progressively became a majorreference in the epic tradition. The paper focuses on the first illustrated Italian edition of the text, as part of a wider project on Milton on the continent. In the history of this translation, cultural intermediaries, such as Paolo Rolli, the translator, but also a variety of actors (English travellers, Italian dilettanti, the Veronese publisher) play a major part as well as the will to establish Milton as a literary masterpiece. The form of the book, an in-12o and a folio edition, conceived together and illustrated (which is unusual for a first launch) is as significant as the critical paratext included in the volume. They both advocate for the literary status of Paradise Lost. Although banned by the Vatican, the folio edition was present in most convent libraries in Veneto. In some of these copies traces of reading or interventions on the images give a concrete testimony of appropriation practices

A summer in the greater Paris: trophic status of peri-urban lakes shapes prokaryotic community structure and functional potential
International audienceWith more than 12 million inhabitants, the Greater Paris offers a "natural laboratory" to explore the effects of eutrophication on freshwater lake's microbiomes within a relative restricted area (~ 70 km radius). Here, a 4-months survey was carried out during summertime to monitor planktonic microbial communities of nine lakes located around Paris (Île-de-France, France) of comparable morphologies, yet distinct trophic statuses from mesotrophic to hypereutrophic. By thus minimizing the confounding factors, we investigated how trophic status could influence prokaryotic community structures (16S rRNA gene sequencing) and functions (shotgun metagenomics). These freshwater lakes harbored highly distinct and diverse prokaryotic communities, and their trophic status appears as the main driver explaining both differences in community structure and functional potential. Although their gene pool was quite stable and shared among lakes, taxonomical and functional changes were correlated. According to trophic status, differences in phosphorus metabolism-related genes were highlighted among the relevant functions involved in the biogeochemical cycles. Overall, hypereutrophic lakes microbiomes displayed the highest contrast and heterogeneity over time, suggesting a specific microbial regime shift compared to eutrophic and mesotrophic lakes.</div
Development and Validation of a Liquid Chromatography High‐Resolution Mass Spectrometry Method for Blood Desmopressin Quantification and Its Application in Hemophilia A Patients
International audienceDesmopressin (DDAVP), which indirectly increases Coagulation Factor VIII concentrations in the blood, is a common treatment for bleeding disorders such as von Willebrand disease or hemophilia A. However, DDAVP exhibits significant variability in response due to interindividual differences in pharmacokinetics. Consequently, exploring its pharmacokinetics is of primary importance to better understand the relationship between DDAVP administration and therapeutic outcomes. To that end, the measurement of DDAVP concentration is essential. This article describes the development and validation of a liquid chromatography method coupled with high‐resolution mass spectrometry detection for quantifying DDAVP in human plasma. After sample pretreatment involving protein precipitation followed by solid‐phase extraction, quantification was based on the four most intense isotopes, utilizing targeted single ion monitoring, with a method range of 20–2000 pg.mL−1. For the four QC levels, accuracy and precision for both inter‐ and intra‐assay measurements were below 11.6% and 13.8%, respectively, meeting FDA recommendations. After validation, this method was applied to a cohort of 10 patients with a deficiency in Coagulation Factor VIII, who received 0.3 μg.kg−1 of desmopressin acetate. The mean volume of distribution at steady state was 18.8 L (CV% 26.7), the mean clearance was 7.8 L.h−1 (CV% 25.1), and the mean half‐life was 1.8 h (CV% 14.7). Offering valuable insights into the pharmacokinetics of DDAVP, this method will be useful for further studies and holds promise for optimizing treatment regimens in this patient population
