Customer Engagement in Travel Industry: OTA’s vs. DIY Travels
The purpose of this study was to establish determinants that influence customer choices between
do-it-yourself travel arrangements and travel agents. For technologically empowered customers,
experience and co-creation play a significant role. The primary research has shown that safety,
value/experience, savings, customization time & effort, control, trust, ease of use of internet tools,
online payment mechanisms, information overload and accurate information are the main
determinants of customer choices. Millennials are more willing to consider travel agents than older
generations. To stay competitive, travel agents must fully include potential customers in the process

Pet friendly tourism is a rising industry and the number of pet travelers is increasing annually.
This paper explores the current state of pet friendly tourism in Dubrovnik. Results of the
research are based on a content analysis, where all the comments from Booking.com and Trip
Advisor were analyzed. The purpose of the analysis was to see how satisfied tourists are with
the pet friendly offer in Dubrovnik. Comments showed that pet owners who come to
Dubrovnik are satisfied with the pet friendly accommodations, however guests who do not

in the accommodation, especially hotels, that are pet friendly, mainly because of the close
unwanted interaction with pets and lack of “pet friendly” regulations. Lack of parks are some
of the factors that pet owners were missing in Dubrovnik as well as they did not have any pet

Do managers know it?: Service gaps in Dubrovnik casual dining
The expectation-perception gap is present in all service industries and restaurants are
especially affected. The gap can negatively impact their operations and discourage customers to
return in the long-run. By using Kano Model, this paper researches expectations and perceptions
of service quality of the local patrons and service providers in the context of Dubrovnik fast
casual dining restaurants.
A questionnaire was distributed to 102 locals and 10 service providers in order to find out
how they rate certain service quality aspects. The results have shown that gaps do exist,
particularly between the one-dimensional and attractive attributes. Therefore, service providers
should keep an eye on the trends and collect customers data in order to improve the service
quality through personalization and keep customer returning in the long-term

Gamification is a growing trend in the business world, and it is transforming traditional business
operations. As our secondary research showed, gamification can be implemented in recruitment
and selection. By doing so there is a higher potential to engage and select employees that will fit
the job offered and ultimately fit in the organization as well. It can be said that gamification has
changed the perspectives of companies which are seeking the top talent and forced them to
implement technology and innovative approached to traditional practices. The purpose of this
research was to measure the level of interest of using gamification in the recruitment and selection
process among students at Dubrovnik, Croatia. In addition, this research wanted to investigate
which professional backgrounds are more or less suitable for using gamification. Results indicate
a strong inclination towards such practices; therefore, we deem that gamification shouldn’t be a
choice, rather a norm for companies in order to select the best candidates
Artistic visual presentation of food 1 : Eating with your eyes first: Assessing the influence of the artistic visual presentation of food on the dining experience
Abstract
An experiment on assessing the influence of the artistic visual presentation of food on the dining experiment was conducted between 40 students to find out if there actually is any influence of visual presentation of food on likeness and tastiness of the food. Two groups were a part of this experiment; a group which was served traditionally looking banana roll cake and a group which was served modernly decorated banana roll cake. The participants were given two questionnaires in order to measure the influence of artistic arrangement of cake on the perception of flavor, one prior to eating the banana roll and the second after eating. Prior to consumption, the artistically decorated banana roll was considered as more complex and artistically arranged and participants were willing to pay more for it, while traditionally decorated banana roll was found to be healthier. Results found in the recreated experiment support the idea that visual presentation of food influences perception of flavor
IS ENGLISH ENOUGH? STUDENTS' ATTITUDES TOWARDS LEARNING ENGLISH VERSUS OTHER FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Foreign languages are one of the most powerful tools in the business world today. Sorin
(2011) also stated the University of Bologna sees the importance of learning foreign
languages and that it is very beneficial for students. English is the most outspread language
and it is considered as almost native language for many nations, but is English enough? The
purpose of this research was to see what are the student’s attitudes towards learning English
when comparing to other foreign languages. The results showed that junior students are less
exposed to communication in foreign languages other than English, while senior students
during their Co-op have experienced communication in many other languages. Also there is a
gap in the motivation for learning foreign languages between junior and senior students.
Junior students have higher motivation that is more beneficial for them while certain
percentage of senior students have motivation only because of easy grades or job
requirements
