Socio-Economic Impactof Taxi-Service Deregulation on Dubrovnik citizens: Good vs. Bad
The purpose of this paper was to study the sociocultural impacts of the deregulation of taxi
services on Dubrovnik locals. The Taxi Deregulation Act was implemented on 1st of July
2018, in Croatia, and since then, was a subject to a lot of controversies. The main goal of the
study was to measure whether the deregulation of the taxi industry in Croatia impacted
Dubrovnik locals and to which extent. The instrument for this study consisted of two surveys.
First measured a social impact perception scale (SIP) ranging from negative -5 to positive 5.
The second survey measured demographic characteristics. Overall results were positive, with
34 participants or 97% being positive about the deregulation, while only 1 participant or 3%,

The importance of Spanish language in Hospitality service in Dubrovnik How satisfied are Spanish tourists with Spanish language support?
According to Dubrovnik Tourist board, in last four years number of Spanish tourists coming
to Dubrovnik has been increased, and it is still growing up. Since Dubrovnik is famous
because of developed hospitality industry, that is not weird, and Spain is close to Dubrovnik
as well.
The purpose of this paper was to find out the level of satisfaction of Spanish tourists with
Spanish language support in hospitality and tourism sector in Dubrovnik.
The research method used for this paper was a survey. It was distributed to three hotels and
fulfilled by 30 Spanish tourists. Lack of signs in Spanish language, poorly translated menus,
low language skills of employees in hospitality industry in Dubrovnik are recognized as the
weakest points by Spanish tourists. The importance of foreign languages when it comes to
providing a service on a higher level is very important and crucial thing “to make a guest feel
at home, hence draw more brand loyalty and larger cash flaws” (Torres & Kline, 2013). All

Rise of Anglicism in Marketing
This paper investigates influence of the English language and globalization of world. It is
mostly focused on influence of English language on Croatian language, what Anglicism are
and if they affecting speakers attitude. The purpose of this paper is to find out what is the
public opinion about Anglicism. Method used for primary research was experiment.
Participants were asked to choose based on their personal preference to pick which of the two
advertisements that were advertising the same product prefer more. Results have shown that
people do not notice Anglicism and do not have general opinion about influence on Croatian

So you bought your diploma? Private education in Croatia in the context of post-communism
Following the Homeland War and fall of the communist regime new private higher education
institutions sprouted along Croatia and Eastern Europe. While accepted by governments in their
inception and often incentivized in their establishment they are yet to be completely accepted by the
public. In order to better understand their struggle for legitimacy a survey was issued to the Croatian
public to learn what does it seek in a 'good university'. The Kano model was used to survey 67
participants using convenience sampling in various locations of the countries capital. Results show a
consensus on what are the fundamental requirements for the institution but differ on what will enhance
their performance and make them attractive. A clear path can be structured to appease the diverse
groups that arose
Product Authenticity in Dubrovnik
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the offer of local, authentic souvenirs in
Dubrovnik. The first part of the paper focuses on defining authenticity of souvenirs,
commercialization and the factors needed for authentic products according to tourists and
vendors. The second part focuses on the research that was done in 20 souvenirs shops in
Dubrovnik, Old Town. The research was done through a questionnaire in which employees,
managers and owners were analysing desires of tourists and their own shop
PAY SATISFACTION IN A FAMILY OWNED HOTEL IN CROATIA
According to the literature and the statistics, around 80% of the businesses worldwide are
family owned and run. This emphasizes the importance of employees working in those
businesses to be satisfied with their overall compensation. The questionnaire measuring pay
satisfaction and distributive justice was distributed to 120 hotels that are members of the
National Association of Small and Family Hotels in Croatia to investigate if there are
differences among employees that are family members and those that are not. After collecting
a small number of responses, there was an overall satisfaction with the compensation. There
were significant differences comparing employees that are family members to those that are
not in three out of four pay satisfaction dimensions (pay level, pay raise, structure and
administration)
“The customer is not always right”: Frontline employees’ perspective and coping with illegitimate customer complaints
Although customer complaints are valued and serve as a critical feedback and as the
improvement of service quality there is an increasingly large number of incidents when
customers complain deliberately and incorrectly. The behavior of such complaining customers
represents a serious and important problem for hospitality industry. This research paper
touches upon the investigation of the illegitimate customer complaints in the hospitality
industry from the perspective of frontline employees. A questionnaire was distributed to 78
frontline employees of 6 luxury hotels in Dubrovnik area. The questionnaire was used to
measure perspective and coping of the participants with illegitimate customer complaining
behavior. Findings of this research suggest and can serve as a plan to develop more effective
coping methods and training programs on how to deal with illegitimate customer complaining
behavior incidents
Hotels in Dubrovnik – Attracting Millennials Using Social Media Marketing
Nowadays hotels are using social media marketing in order to attract their guests and engage
with them. Since millennial generation is starting their work life, soon enough, they will be
the ones with the most money to spend on travelling and accommodation. As a tech-savvy
generation, social media marketing is a way to get to them and an opportunity, hotels should
pay attention to. This research investigated to what degree are hotels in Dubrovnik region,
positioning themselves in terms of attracting millennials, as a growing market. Content
analysis was used as a method and it was applied on 37 different hotels. It involved examining
their websites and tracking their social media platforms, meaning Instagram, Facebook,
YouTube and Twitter, in a two-week period. Results have shown that hotels in Dubrovnik
region are not paying much attention to being active on social media and even those that
showed certain level of activity, are not publishing content which millennials desire to see,
while doing their research. More effort is directed towards hotels’ websites, but these would
still require some improvements, when looking at the points which were examined

This paper focuses on the root causes of extreme popularity of game streamers on the Twitch platform. While the literature review indicated that theproduction, set design, game playing and entertaining skills, interaction, material and digital infrastructure as well as the use of social media play a decisive role, this study established that only the number of viewers simultaneously engaged in the stream and long streaming hours are correlated to the number of followers (popularity) of a particular steamer
Price attributes of private accommodation: The case study of Split
As the sharing economy concepts such as Airbnb are new to Split, Croatia, the market is still
unsettled and how to determine the appropriate price is a question. The focus of this research
was to find out the current price determinants (attributes) and provide a model of analysis so
that sensible recommendations could be given. Using observation method and statistical
analysis, the research showed that overall rating and market situation of private
accommodation in Split is at the top of Airbnb market. Also, it showed that attributes
influencing the price mostly are cleanliness, communication and superhost status, with
significant differences from the literature information
