“I don’t hate anyone... except for Asians” Residents’ stereotypes of foreign nationalities in the city of Dubrovnik
Stereotypes are defined as oversimplified beliefs about things and people, widely held by a
large number of people. They can be fair and reflect the real world but some of them are cruel
and come from racist or discriminatory history. This research studies what effect does
tourism have on stereotypes and how does it affect local’s perception of tourists. A survey
was administered to 122 people, asking them for opinions on tourists that visit Dubrovnik the
most, and it was compared to a previous research done three years ago. The results suggested
that locals form stereotypes based on tourist’s behavior and how much do the foreigner’s
culture differ in relation to locals’ own culture. As a city thriving on tourism, Dubrovnik
locals encounter people from all over the world, people with different appearance, behavior
and culture, and their relationship with the locals is vital to the future of Dubrovnik in
tourism, so it is important that these stereotypes do not form into racism and discrimination

Religiosity during the Covid-19 Pandemic among the Ex-Yugoslavian countries
Throughout history, a common phenomenon during times of drastic and unpredictable
catastrophes is that people turned to religion. This is called religious coping. The case is the same
during the Covid pandemic as several studies have been conducted in Europe that prove this
hypothesis. The same question was posed for the Balkan area and the Ex-Yugoslavian countries.
A survey was distributed with 396 responses from these countries. The number of people that
actively prayed was staggeringly low at a total of 27 participants making up a total of 6.8%.
However, the same pattern that was noticed in previous studies can also be noticed here as out of
the 27 participants that actively prayed before the pandemic, a total of 21 stated that they have
prayed more during the pandemic. These participants also stated that their faith had helped them
during the pandemic, which suggests religious coping
The Effect of SMI in Decision-Making Process in Hospitality: Generation Z
Social media influencers became a crucial tool when it comes to travelling decisions and a strong influence effect in the decision-making process, especially among Generation Z. This research paper explored the power of social media influencers and the relationship with digital natives regarding purchasing decisions. A survey questionnaire was distributed to 139 students at RIT Croatia, Dubrovnik campus. This method investigated the level of trust in the hospitality industry among Gen Z and social media influencers. Results have shown that certain geographical areas still do not have engagement with influencers while taking into consideration their family and friends first. On the other hand, results showed as well that students follow them primarily because of inspiration, the discovery of new products and information seeking. As for further research, digital natives from those certain areas should be questioned more for influencers to gain better insight but as well for hotels and companies
The impact of euro adoption on mortgage rates: What can Croatia expect?
The purpose of the paper was to study the effect the integration in the eurozone had on the retail interest
rates before and after the adoption of the euro. While most of the studies in this field focused on the
inter-bank rates, this research set out to study mortgage rates, thereby obtaining insight into what both
households and the banking sector may experience. The study researched whether or not mortgage
rates converged in pre-adoption and post-adoption periods in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, and
Slovakia, with an intention to attempt to estimate what could happen in Croatia. The results implied
that in most cases the mortgage rates of the euro-adopting countries are correlated to the average
mortgage rates in the eurozone in the pre-adoption period. Nevertheless, the findings surprisingly
showed that these countries experienced different degrees of convergence, and sometimes even
divergence of these interest rates. Hence, without identifying a repetitive pattern of behavior of interest
rates, an estimate for the Croatian case could not have been made
