Journal self-citations - analysing the JIF mechanism
International audienceThis paper investigates the mechanism of the Journal Impact Factor (JIF). Although created as a journal selection tool the indicator is probably the central quantitative indicator for measuring journal quality. The focus is journal self-citations as the treatment of these in analyses and evaluations is highly disputed. The role of self-citations (both self-citing rate and self-cited rate) is investigated on a larger scale in this analysis in order to achieve statistical reliable material that can further qualify that discussion. Some of the hypotheses concerning journal self-citations are supported by the results and some are not
The study „Population and habitat on the feudal domain Şiria at the beginning of the XVIth century” is based on a statistical document developed in 1525. We have many and very important information on the people's one of the largest feudal domain in Transylvania in the middle Ages. The 8152 inhabitants, where nearly 90% for them is represented by serfs, live in 121 villages scattered over an area large enough in the old county of Zarand. The predominantly landform is mountain. The majority of the 121 villages, 76% more accurate, have up to 80`s inhabitants, so they are relative small villages. Yet some localities are also somewhat larger – market towns - which have between 184 and 460 inhabitants. Finally, we can see that the old type of habitat is preserved up to the present day with few changes and 70 villages from them exist in our days on the territory of the counties Arad and Hunedoara

No english abstract, cf. danish version
Cooperation, Competition, Conflict and Communication
Gothenburg papers in theoretical linguistics, ISSN 0349-1021Building on sources such as the ones mentioned our point of departure, in this book, is the definition of cooperation given in Allwood (1976). Cooperation is there claimed to be a matter of degree, definable in terms of four requirements that would be needed to achieve ideal cooperation. Thus, two or more parties interact cooperatively to the extent that they in their actions (i) take each other into cognitive consideration (ii) have a joint purpose (iii) take each other into ethical consideration (iv) trust each other to act in accordance with (i) – (iii). All four requirements need not be met, but as soon as one is met, there is some degree of cooperation and two persons may be said to cooperate to some extent

This contribution offers an introduction to functional stylistics, the special Russian tradition within text type research, and compares it to European traditions. While Russian functional linguistics traditionally distinguishes five basic text types or styles (for scientific-technical texts, official documents, the press, fiction and colloquial conversation), Western research tends to focus on the simple bipartition of language for specific (or special) purposes (LSP) and language for language for general purposes (LGP). The contribution discusses a number of examples of relevance to Russian language studies at an advanced university level
From attitudes to commonplaces: A discursive approach to attitude interviews
With a background in sociolinguistics, this paper presents the theoretical, methodological and epistemological issues the author was forced to negotiate in conducting the apparently simple task of investigating a few dozen people's attitudes towards the English influence on their own language. The paper discusses the fundamental epistemological shortcomings of different approaches to attitude research. Three different orders of analysis are attempted and reflected upon, a standardized quantitative analysis, a discourse analysis and a deconstructive, nonessentialist analysis. It is the author's firm believe that this critical examination of methods is on the one hand essential for academic approaches to attitude research, and on the other essential in informing the public - you and me - about the mechanisms of opinion polls which underlies so much modern political work. In this respect, the papers "failure" to set up a new and improved approach to attitude research, and its content to point out the shortcomings of the current approaches, may not be a failure as much as a conscious plea to do away with the notion of a objective or neutral investigation of opinions
Activity Based Studies of Linguistic Interaction
Gothenburg papers in theoretical linguistics, ISSN 0349-1021This paper will describe an approach to studies of language and communication that has become known as “Activity based Communication Analysis” (ACA). I will also briefly contrast the approach to some other approaches to linguistic interaction. The paper contains the following sections: 1. Conception of language and linguistic interaction - the task of linguistics 2. On methodology and goals 3. Analytical categories to be used in the study of linguistic interaction 4. On the relation to some other approaches 5. Examples of some studies There are many sources of inspiration for the approach, such as Malinowski (1923), Wittgenstein (1953), Vygotsky (1978), Sacks (1992), Bühler (1934 ), Rommetveit (1974), Grice (1975), Austin (1962) and Firth (1957). For a more extensive account, see Allwood (1976 and 2000)
