Relations between metaphysics and art? ¿Relaciones entre metafisica y arte?
International audienceIn this paper we intend to make visible a possible relationship between metaphysics and art, from the presuppose, in absolute terms they are the same, so that what you say is true of the metaphysical arts. However, the distinction between metaphysics and art is not feasible to show the world, especially in an artistic event such as a concert or show, but because the distinctions of the world. Try to address this issue since the concept of Sorge (cure, care) and metaphysical budgets that will eventually settled by Heidegger in Sein und Zeit.
The opera "King and Marchal" by Peter Heise belongs to the Danish cultural canon. But when the opera was first performed in 1878 critics were reluctant to appreciate its qualities. The revengeful murder of King Erik Glipping in Finderup Barn in 1286 was not justified if the marchal's wife had willingly been seduced by the king as claimed by the composer and his librettist. Neither did the opera seem to propagate a political motive for the murder. The article points to the possibility of understanding the opera as a contribution to the lively debate on women's emancipation and sexuality in the decades around 1870. However, when the opera was elected to form part of the official Danish cultural canon in 2006 it was praised for its "wonderful amalgamation of lyrics, music and drama". The judgement illustrates that we no longer expect a musical drama from the past to have possessed critical potential or we do not necessarily grasp the inherent values
Epistemiske sætningsadverbier i dansk talesprog
On the Citation Advantage of linking to data: Astrophysics
This paper present some indications of the existence of a Citation Advantage related to linked data, using astrophysics as a case. Using simple measures, I find that the Citation Advantage presently (at the least since 2009) amounts to papers with links to data receiving on the average 50% more citations per paper per year, than the papers without links to data. A similar study by other authors should a cummulative effect after several years amounting to 20%. Hence, a Data Sharing Citation Advantage seems inevitable
Face of a Dead Bird — Notes on grief, spectrality and wildlife photography
International audienceMy concern in the present essay lies with exploring the possibility of grief for the loss of a nonhuman animal beyond the cozy domestic assemblages where such grief is conventionally situated, some might say confined. Parallel to the entangled intimacy of pets, livestock and companion species, I am interested in developing (or recuperating) a notion of grief for the nonhuman stranger — for an unknown other, remote but specific. Situating this possibility within the visual economy of conservation, the essay begins with a specific photograph of one nonhuman individual — now dead — and ends with another. The first image is read against Roland Barthes' moving meditation on photography and the death of his mother, Camera Lucida. The links between haunting, photography and spectrality that this text throws up then form the coordinates for the remainder of the argument — which, through a combination of theoretical reflection and ethnography, addresses itself to one central question (perhaps two): does the nonhuman have a face? Did this nonhuman have a face? The essay closes on a hopeful note, identifying the disruptive potential of nonhuman photography to render manifest modes of perception that are not yet supported, that are still virtual — transforming, in other words, the spectrality of the nonhuman photograph into a promissory condition, foreshadowing new economies of being and, possibly, of loss
Nettle as a distinct Bronze Age textile plant
International audienceIt is generally assumed that the production of plant fibre textiles in ancient Europe, especially woven textiles for clothing, was closely linked to the development of agriculture through the use of cultivated textile plants (flax, hemp). Here we present a new investigation of the 2800 year old Lusehøj Bronze Age Textile from Voldtofte, Denmark, which challenges this assumption. We show that the textile is made of imported nettle, most probably from the Kärnten-Steiermark region, an area which at the time had an otherwise established flax production. Our results thus suggest that the production of woven plant fibre textiles in Bronze Age Europe was based not only on cultivated textile plants but also on the targeted exploitation of wild plants. The Lusehøj find points to a hitherto unrecognized role of nettle as an important textile plant and suggests the need for a re-evaluation of textile production resource management in prehistoric Europe
