Optimization of energy management of a commercial facility with an installed photovoltaic power plant and geothermal heat pumps
Na početku ovog rada dan je opis stvarnog gospodarskog objekta – hotela s vlastitom
fotonaponskom elektranom i sustavom grijanja temeljenim na geotermalnim dizalicama topline. U
teoretskom dijelu obrađeni su komunikacijski protokoli Modbus, BACnet, IEC 60870-5-104 i MQTT, koji
su korišteni za prikupljanje podataka iz različitih tehničkih sustava objekta. Također su predstavljeni alati
otvorenog koda – Node-RED, InfluxDB i Grafana – koji čine temelj za razvoj složenog nadzornoupravljačkog
sustava. Praktični dio rada sastoji se od razvoja niza tokova u Node-RED platformi za dohvat
i obradu tehničkih podataka iz dizalica topline, klima komora i fan-coil jedinica te njihovo zapisivanje u
vremenski-serijsku bazu podataka InfluxDB i vizualizaciju u alatu Grafana. Poseban naglasak stavljen je
na automatizaciju energetski relevantnih procesa, poput automatskog resetiranja postavki uređaja u
zajedničkim prostorima i logičkog upravljanja međusobno ovisnim sustavima klimatizacije. Kao poseban
doprinos, razvijen je vlastiti IEC104 klijent u programskom jeziku Go za komunikaciju sa zapisivačem
fotonaponske elektrane, koji podatke istovremeno zapisuje u InfluxDB i objavljuje putem MQTT
protokola. Na temelju prikupljenih podataka izrađen je koncept upravljanja viškovima energije kroz
inteligentno grijanje bazenske vode, uključujući i pristup temeljen na vremenskoj prognozi.This thesis begins with a description of a real-world commercial facility – a hotel equipped with
its own photovoltaic power plant and a geothermal heat pump system. The theoretical section covers
the communication protocols Modbus, BACnet, IEC 60870-5-104, and MQTT, which are used for data
acquisition from various technical systems within the building. Open-source tools – Node-RED, InfluxDB,
and Grafana – are also presented as the backbone of the developed monitoring and control
architecture. The practical part involves the implementation of multiple Node-RED flows for data
acquisition and processing from heat pumps, air handling units, and fan-coil devices. The processed data
is stored in a time-series database (InfluxDB) and visualized using Grafana dashboards. Special attention
is given to the automation of energy-relevant processes, such as automatic resetting of device setpoints
in shared spaces and logical control of interdependent HVAC components. A custom IEC104 client was
developed in the Go programming language to communicate with the photovoltaic plant’s data logger.
The client simultaneously writes measurement data to InfluxDB and publishes it via MQTT. Based on the
collected data, a theoretical concept was proposed for utilizing energy surpluses through smart pool
water heating, including a prediction model based on weather forecasts
Automated trap for rodents
Automatizirana zamka za glodavce Automatizirana zamka koja omogućuje sigurno
hvatanje glodavaca bez ozljeđivanja. U ovom završnom radu je opisan postupak izrade, način
funkcioniranja samog makete te kratak opis nastanka zamki kroz povijest. Potrebno je bilo napraviti
prostor koji bi glodavcima dopuštao prolaz u jednome smjeru te mjesto u koje bi ulazili i gdje bi se
mjerila njihova masa. Glavne komponente na maketi su ESP-32 mikroupravljač i mjerna ćelija mase koje
daju informacije korisniku. Uz to je realizirana aplikacija za praćenje stanja zamki iz drugih prostorija. Na
kraju rada prikazani su rezultati različitih masa dobiveni testiranjem dječjih kuglica te prijedlozi za
poboljšanje same makete.Automated rodent trap An automated trap that allows for safe trapping of rodents without
injury. This final paper describes the manufacturing process, the way the project itself works, and a brief
description of the origin of traps throughout history. It was necessary to create a space that would allow
rodents to pass in one direction, as well as a place where they would enter and where their weight
would be measured. The main components of the project are the ESP-32 microcontroller and a
measuring cell that provide information to the user. In addition, an application was created for
monitoring the status of the traps from other rooms. At the end of the paper, the results of different
weights obtained by testing children's balls are presented, as well as suggestions for improving the
project itself
Dynamic hysteresis loop of a synchronous generator
U ovom diplomskom radu detaljno su teorijski i praktično razmatrane i ispitane
magnetske karakteristike materijala, primarno materijala za izradu jezgri sinkronih generatora, pri čemu
je poseban fokus usmjeren na eksperimentalnu analizu dinamičke petlje histereze ispitnog sinkronog
generatora. Kako se kompletan rad zasniva na sinkronom generatoru kao ispitnom stroju, isti je prvo
detaljno opisan pri čemu je fokus stavljen na njegovu građu, podjelu, te princip rada nakon čega su
opisana magnetska svojstva materijala, a posebno njihovo ponašanje pod djelovanjem magnetskog
polja. Osim što su magnetska svojstva materijala detaljno teorijski potkrijepljena, ista su i praktično
dokazana u sklopu dva odvojena mjerenja, odnosno snimanju karakteristike praznog hoda sinkronog
generatora u ovisnosti o frekvenciji, te pokusu snimanja dinamičke petlje histereze u uvjetima bliskim
praznom hodu. U oba mjerenja fokus je bio usmjeren na analizu utjecaja promjene frekvencije na
magnetska svojstva jezgre sinkronog generatora, odnosno utjecaju frekvencije na karakteristiku praznog
hoda i petlju histereze. Analizom rezultata oba mjerenja jednoznačno je potvrđena relacija o induciranoj
elektromotornoj sili (6-1) gdje porastom frekvencije uz održavanje fiksnog toka dolazi do porasta
induciranog napona, kao i da je inducirani napon moguće držati fiksnim uz porast frekvencije ukoliko se
tok, odnosno uzbuda reduciraju. Povećanjem induciranog napona, petlje histereze poprimaju veće
dimenzije, tj. postaju izduženije i šire, što izravno utiče na veću površinu, odnosno gubitke. Povećanje
frekvencije u definiranom opsegu uz održavanje razine induciranog napona konstantnom smanjenjem
struje uzbude nema jasne znakove utjecaja na dimenzije i oblik petlje histereze. Također, analiziran je i
oblik dobivenih petlji histereza koje su vrlo uske što je u skladu s teorijskim razmatranjima iznesenima u
teorijskom dijelu diplomskog rada.In this thesis, the magnetic characteristics of materials were theoretically and practically
considered and examined in detail, primarily the materials used for the construction of synchronous
generator cores, with special focus directed toward the experimental analysis of the dynamic hysteresis
loop of the test synchronous generator. Since the entire thesis is based on the synchronous generator as
the test machine, it was first described in detail, with the focus placed on its construction, classification,
and operating principle, after which the magnetic properties of the materials were described, especially
their behavior under the influence of a magnetic field. In addition to the fact that the magnetic
properties of the materials were theoretically substantiated in detail, they were also practically verified
through two separate measurements, namely recording the open-circuit characteristic of the
synchronous generator depending on the frequency, and the experiment of recording the dynamic
hysteresis loop under conditions close to no-load. In both measurements, the focus was directed at the
analysis of the influence of frequency change on the magnetic properties of the synchronous generator
core, that is, the influence of frequency on the open-circuit characteristic and the hysteresis loop. The
analysis of the results of both measurements clearly confirmed the relation of the induced
electromotive force (6-1), where an increase in frequency while maintaining a fixed flux leads to an
increase in the induced voltage, as well as that the induced voltage can be kept constant with an
increase in frequency if the flux, i.e., excitation, is reduced. With the increase in induced voltage, the
hysteresis loops take on larger dimensions, i.e., they become more elongated and wider, which directly
affects the area, i.e., the losses. Increasing the frequency within the defined range while maintaining the
level of induced voltage constant by reducing the excitation current shows no clear signs of influence on
the dimensions and shape of the hysteresis loop. Also, the shape of the obtained hysteresis loops was
analyzed, which are very narrow, which is in accordance with the theoretical considerations presented
in the theoretical part of the thesis
Pierce-Gate oscillator
Ovaj rad istražuje dizajn, načelo rada i primjene Pierce-Gate oscilatora, koji
predstavlja ključnu komponentu u mnogim modernim digitalnim elektroničkim uređajima. Ovaj oscilator
je jedan od najčešće korištenih oscilatorskih krugova zbog svoje jednostavnosti, stabilnosti frekvencije
ivisoke kvalitete izlaznog signala. Najčešće se izvodi s kvarcnim kristalom koji osigurava generiranje
stabilne i precizne frekvencije oscilacija. Ovaj rad se fokusira na dimenzioniranje elemenata Pierce-Gate
oscilatora, objašnjavajući njegovu teorijsku pozadinu, što uključuje u prvom redu tranzistore, kristalni
rezonator i povratnu vezu koja omogućava stabilne oscilacije. Također, detaljno se objašnjava utjecaj
elemenata kao što su otpornici i kondenzatori na rad oscilatora, kao i faktori koji utječu na stabilnost
frekvencije i pouzdanost oscilatora, kao što su opteretni kapacitet i razina pogona kristala.This paper investigates the design, principle of operation and applications of the Pierce-Gate
oscillator, which is a key component in many modern digital electronic devices. This oscillator is one of
the most commonly used oscillator circuits due to its simplicity, frequency stability and high output
signal quality. It is most often performed with a quartz crystal that ensures the generation of a stable
and precise frequency of oscillations. This paper focuses on the dimensioning of Pierce-Gate oscillator
elements, explaining its theoretical background, which includes primarily transistors, a crystal resonator
and a feedback loop that enables stable oscillations. Also, the influence of elements such as resistors
and capacitors on oscillator operation is explained in detail, as well as factors that affect frequency
stability and oscillator reliability, such as load capacity and crystal drive level
Sustainability in the supply chain - biodegradable materials and packaging : Graduate paper
Ovaj rad istražuje primjenu održivih rješenja u logističkom lancu s naglaskom na korištenje
biorazgradive ambalaže i materijala. Kroz analizu domaćih primjera iz prakse, posebna je
pažnja posvećena skladišnim i transportnim aspektima koji prate prelazak na ovakve materijale.
U okviru istraživanja provedena je kvalitativna analiza odgovora poduzeća različitih djelatnosti,
pri čemu se ispitalo koliko su logistički procesi spremni za prilagodbu održivim zahtjevima.
Pokazalo se da većina ispitanih tvrtki koristi ambalažu koja je djelomično ili u potpunosti
biorazgradiva, pri čemu su sektori poput prehrambene industrije pokazali najveći stupanj
prilagodbe. Skladištenje i prijevoz takve ambalaže zahtijevaju određene uvjete, no mnoge tvrtke
su već imale uspostavljene kontrole temperature i vlage zbog prirode svojih proizvoda, pa
dodatne prilagodbe nisu bile nužne. Uočeni su i logistički izazovi, poput nedostatka dobavljača
i ograničenja pri prijevozu osjetljivijih materijala. Rad pokazuje da prelazak na održivija
rješenja ne mora nužno predstavljati veliki trošak ili prepreku ako se poslovni procesi strateški
prilagode, a logistika igra ključnu ulogu u uspješnoj provedbi takvih promjena.This thesis explores the implementation of sustainable solutions within the supply chain, with
a particular focus on the use of biodegradable packaging and materials. Based on the analysis
of domestic business practices, special attention was given to the storage and transportation
aspects that accompany the shift toward environmentally friendly materials. A qualitative
analysis of responses from companies operating across various industries was conducted to
assess the readiness of logistics processes to meet sustainability requirements. The findings
show that the majority of surveyed companies already apply partially or fully biodegradable
packaging, with the food industry demonstrating the highest level of adaptation. Storage and
transportation of such materials often require controlled conditions; however, many companies
had already established temperature and humidity monitoring systems due to the nature of their
products, thus reducing the need for significant operational changes. Certain logistical
challenges were identified, including limited supplier availability and specific transport
requirements for sensitive materials. The research suggests that transitioning to more
sustainable solutions does not necessarily entail major costs or operational disruptions,
provided that business processes are strategically adjusted. Within this context, logistics plays
a central role in ensuring the effective and long-term integration of environmentally responsible
practices into supply chain operations
Architecture and urban design of Retfala south business zone
Arhitektonski koncept poslovne zgrade fokusira se na stvaranje dinamičnog, iskustvenog prostora koji nadilazi tradicionalnu funkcionalnu organizaciju. Umjesto klasičnih etaža, prostor je organiziran vertikalno i ritmično, omogućujući međusobno ispreplitanje radnih i društvenih sadržaja. Zgrada je zamišljena kao prostorni okvir za zajednicu i interakciju, gdje proces stvaranja i društvena povezanost imaju prednost nad samom formom. Koncept se temelji na tri ključna pojma: FOLK - korisnici i njihova raznolikost, WORK - rad kao kreativan proces, PLACE osjećaj pripadnosti i atmosfere, ne samo fizički prostor. Atrij stubište služe kao prostorni narativi koji potiču susrete i neformalne interakcije, dok je prijelazna zona PLACE ključna za povezivanje rada i zajedníce bez prekida radnog toka. Zgrada nije simbol moći, već sinergija koja potiče kreativnost, zajedništvo i održivost.The architectural concept of the office building focuses on creating a dynamic, experiential space that goes beyond traditional functional organization. Instead of classic floors, the space is organized vertically and rhythmically, allowing for the interweaving of work and social programs. The building is conceived as a spatial framework for community and interaction, where the processes of creation and social connectivity take precedence over form itself. The concept is based on three key notions: FOLK – the users and their diversity, WORK – work as a creative process, PLACE – a sense of belonging and atmosphere, not just a physical space. The atrium and staircase serve as spatial narratives that encourage encounters and informal interactions, while the transitional PLACE zone is essential for connecting work and community without interrupting the workflow. The building is not a symbol of power but a synergy that fosters creativity, togetherness, and sustainability
Application of differential pulse voltammetry in detection of antioxidants
U ovom završnom radu ispitivana su elektrokemijska svojstva p-kumarinske, 3,4-dihidroksibenzojeve i galne kiseline, koje pripadaju skupini fenolnih spojeva poznatih po svom snažnom antioksidativnom djelovanju, a koji se u novije vrijeme sve više istražuju zbog svojih pozitivnih učinaka na zdravlje ljudi. Analiza ovog istraživanja je provedena primjenom elektrokemijske metode diferencijalne pulsne voltametrije s ciljem detekcije oksidacije navedenih antioksidansa te ispitivanja utjecaja njihove koncentracije na visinu oksidacijskog strujnog vrha. Eksperimenti su izvedeni korištenjem troelektrodnog sustava koji se sastojao od radne elektrode od staklastog ugljika, Ag/AgCl referentne elektrode i platinske protuelektrode. Prije svakog mjerenja, elektrokemijska ćelija bila je propuhivana argonom visoke čistoće (99,999 %) kako bi se uklonio otopljeni kisik. Rezultati su pokazali da svi analizirani spojevi oksidiraju pri određenim uvjetima te da postoji linearna povezanost između njihove koncentracije i visine oksidacijskog strujnog vrha. Metoda standardnog dodatka korištena je za potvrdu prisutnosti antioksidansa u modelnim otopinama. Također su analizirani realni uzorci – čaj od šipka i zeleni čaj, u kojima je potvrđena prisutnost galne kiseline. Dobivene koncentracije galne kiseline u realnim uzorcima iznosile su 2,72×10⁻⁵ mol dm⁻³ u čaju od šipka i 6,09×10⁻⁵ mol dm⁻³ u zelenom čaju, što potvrđuje primjenjivost korištene metode u analizi složenih uzoraka.In this final thesis, the electrochemical properties of p-coumaric acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, and gallic acid were investigated. These compounds belong to the group of phenolic compounds known for their strong antioxidant activity and are increasingly being studied due to their positive effects on human health. The analysis was conducted using the
electrochemical method of differential pulse voltammetry, with the aim of detecting the oxidation of the mentioned antioxidants and examining the influence of their concentration on the height of the oxidation peak current. Experiments were carried out using a three-electrode system consisting of a glassy carbon working electrode, an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, and a platinum counter electrode. Prior to each measurement, the electrochemical cell was purged with high-purity argon (99.999%) to remove dissolved oxygen. The results showed that all analyzed compounds undergo oxidation under certain optimal conditions and that there is a linear relationship between their concentration and the height of the oxidation peak current. The standard addition method was used to confirm the presence of antioxidants in model solutions. Real samples – rosehip tea and green tea – were also analyzed, in which the presence of gallic acid was confirmed. The measured concentrations of gallic acid in real samples were 2.72×10⁻⁵mol dm⁻³ in rosehip tea and 6.09×10⁻⁵ mol dm⁻³ in green tea, confirming the applicability of the method used in the analysis of complex samples
Impact of menstrual cycle on occurrence of migraine headaches and on quality of life in female migraine patients
Cilj istraživanja: Primarni su ciljevi ovog istraživanja bili ispitati postoje li razlike u
pojavnosti migrenske glavobolje tijekom različitih faza menstrualnog ciklusa te utvrditi
povezanost menstrualnih migrena s kvalitetom života bolesnica. Dodatno su ispitane
karakteristike migrenske glavobolje, prisutnost i vrste aure, okidači migrenskih glavobolja,
simptomi pridruženi akutnim migrenskim napadajima, vrste korištene preventivne i kurativne
terapije, karakteristike menstrualnog ciklusa ispitanica, bolnost menstruacija i utjecaj
predmenstrualnog sindroma na pojavu migrene te korištenje alternativnih metoda za smanjenje
učestalosti pojave i intenziteta napadaja migrene.
Nacrt studije: Presječno istraživanje.
Ispitanici i metode: U ovom istraživanju provedenom u Ambulanti za glavobolje KBC-a
Osijek, sudjelovale su ispitanice s dijagnozom migrenske glavobolje i redovnim menstrualnim
ciklusom. Isključene su pacijentice koje su: bile u menopauzi, koristile kontinuiranu
hormonsku terapiju, kao i pacijentice s komorbiditetima koji utječu na menstrualni ciklus. Kao
instrumenti istraživanja korišteni su anonimni anketni upitnik strukturiran za ovo istraživanje,
SF-36 upitnik i HIT-6 upitnik.
Rezultati: U istraživanju su sudjelovale 35 ispitanica s dijagnozom migrene. Utjecaj različitih
faza menstrualnog ciklusa na pojavnost migrenske glavobolje prijavile su 51,4 % ispitanica,
pri čemu je najčešće prijavljeni period bila faza neposredno prije menstruacije (60 %).
Migrenski napadaji su narušavali svakodnevno funkcioniranje i kvalitetu života kod 80 %
ispitanica.
Zaključak: Rezultati istraživanja potvrdili su povezanost faza menstrualnog ciklusa s
pojavnosti migrenskih glavobolja te negativan utjecaj migrene na kvalitetu života oboljelih.
Prisutnost pridruženih simptoma, raznolikost terapijskih pristupa i učestalost korištenja
alternativnih metoda ukazuju na potrebu za individualiziranim i integriranim pristupom u
dijagnostici i liječenju menstrualne migrene.Objectives: The primary objectives of this study were to examine whether there are differences
in the occurrence of migraine headaches during different phases of the menstrual cycle and to
determine the association between menstrual migraines and the quality of life of patients.
Additionally, the study examined the characteristics of migraine headaches, the presence and
types of aura, migraine triggers, symptoms associated with acute migraine attacks, types of
preventive and curative therapies that were used, characteristics of the respondents’ menstrual
cycles, menstrual pain, the impact of premenstrual syndrome on the occurrence of migraines
and the use of alternative methods to reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks.
Study design: Cross-sectional study.
Participants and methods: The study was conducted at the Headache Clinic of the University
Hospital Centre Osijek and included female participants diagnosed with migraine headaches
and with regular menstrual cycles. Exclusion criteria were menopause, continuous use of
hormonal therapy and comorbidities affecting the menstrual cycle. Research instruments
included an anonymous questionnaire specifically designed for this study, the SF-36
questionnaire and the HIT-6 questionnaire.
Results: The study included 35 participants diagnosed with migraine. A total of 51.4 %
reported that the occurrence of migraine headaches was influenced by different phases of the
menstrual cycle, with the most commonly reported phase being the period just before
menstruation (60 %). Migraine attacks impaired daily functioning and quality of life in 80 %
of the participants.
Conclusion: The results confirmed an association between menstrual cycle phases and the
occurrence of migraine headaches, as well as the negative impact of migraines on patients’
quality of life. The presence of associated symptoms, the diversity of therapeutic approaches,
and the frequent use of alternative methods highlight the need for an individualized and
integrated approach to the diagnosis and treatment of menstrual migraines
Konstrukcija i značenje lika Hilsea u "Tkalcima" Gerharta Hauptmanna
In dieser Arbeit wird die Figur von Hilse im Drama Die Weber von Gerhart Hauptmann vorgestellt und analysiert, wobei auf die Gestaltung und Bedeutung der Figur eingegangen wird. Am Anfang der Arbeit werden einleitend klassische und naturalistische dramatische Merkmale erläutert. Die Einleitung, gefolgt von einer kurzen Darstellung der Gattung des Dramas, anschließend von der Darstellung der Epoche des Naturalismus, in der das Werk entstand, gibt sie auch einen Überblick über das Leben des Autors Gerhart Hauptmann und seine wichtigsten Werke. Danach wird ein historisches Ereignis aus dem Jahr 1844 beschrieben, der Weberaufstand, der für die Entstehung des Werkes von großer Bedeutung ist. Im Hauptteil der Arbeit wird die Handlung des Werkes geschildert und die Figur Hilse unter verschiedenen Aspekten analysiert, wobei die Analyse mit einer Erläuterung der klassischen und naturalistischen Merkmale der Figur endet. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass Hilse als Symbol einer individuellen, aber auch kollektiven Tragödie stirbt. Zum Schluss wird die Argumentation resümiert und das Literaturverzeichnis angegeben.U ovom radu predstavljen je lik Hilse u drami Tkalci Gerharta Hauptmanna, pri čemu je razmatrana konstrukcija i značenje te figure, uz objašnjenje klasičnih i naturalističkih dramatičnih značajki. Rad se sastoji od uvoda, nakon čega slijedi kratak prikaz književnog roda drame, zatim epohe naturalizma u kojoj je djelo nastalo i pregled života autora Gerharta Hauptmanna i njegovih najvažnijih djela. Zatim se opisuje povijesni događaj iz 1844. godine, Ustanak šleskih tkalaca, koji je od velikog značaja za nastanak djela. U drugom dijelu rada opisuje se radnja djela i analizira figura Hilse u različitim aspektima, pri čemu se analiza završava objašnjenjem klasičnih i naturalističkih značajki figure. Na kraju rada slijede zaključak i popis literature
The influence of 1% and 9% TiO2 in mortar on its physical - mechanical and electromagnetic properties
Razvojem i širenjem građevinske industrije pojavila se potreba za poboljšanjem materijala pomoću različitih dodataka. Jedan od takvih dodataka je titanijev dioksid, bijeli pigment, čija je primjena u građevinarstvu, zbog njegovih utjecaja, sve češća. Iako je mogućnost primjene raznolika, u ovom radu naglasak je na njegovu utjecaju u mortu na različita svojstva. U uvodnom dijelu rada pobliže su objašnjene glavne karakteristike, kao i značaj morta i titanijeva dioksida. Također, opisan je postupak pripreme i izrade morta, te su u konačnici provedena zahtijevana ispitivanja. Glavni cilj ovog istraživanja je odgonetnuti kako dodatak TiO2 u određenim udjelima utječe na fizikalno-mehanička te elektromagnetska svojstva morta. Ispitivanje je provedeno na uzorcima gotovo identičnih sastava, jedina razlika njihova sastava je količina titanijeva dioksida. Udio titanijeva dioksida u mješavinama korišten je u različitim postotcima: 1%, 3%, 7% i 9%. Navedene mješavine analizirane su u usporedbi s referentnim uzorkom, odnosno uzorkom M0, kojemu nije dodan titanijev dioksid. Za potrebe različitih ispitivanja, uzorci su ispitivani u svježem i očvrslom stanju. U svježem stanju, neposredno nakon spravljanja mješavine, određena je gustoća, konzistencija, te udio pora svake od mješavina. Pri 28 danu starosti uzoraka, ispitana je tlačna i vlačna čvrstoća na savijanje. Rezultatima ispitivanja zaključeno je da se dodatkom titanijeva dioksida gustoća postupno povećava, a konzistencija, ispitana metodom rasprostiranja, smanjuje. Tlačna i vlačna čvrstoća na savijanje također postupno rastu povećanjem udjela dodatka. Pretpostavlja se da je takav rezultat ispitivanja utjecaj kristalne strukture čestica titanijevog dioksida.With the development and expansion of the construction industry, there was a need to improve materials using various additives. One of such additives is titanium dioxide, a white pigment, whose application in construction, due to its effects, is becoming more and more common. Although the possibility of application is diverse, in this paper the emphasis is on its influence in mortar on various properties. In the introductory part of the paper, the main characteristics, as well as the importance of mortar and titanium dioxide, are explained in more detail. Also, the procedure for preparing and making the mortar was described, and finally the required tests were carried out. The main goal of this research is to find out how the addition of TiO2 in certain proportions affects the physical-mechanical and electromagnetic properties of the mortar. The test was carried out on samples of almost identical composition, the only difference in their composition being the amount of titanium dioxide. The share of titanium dioxide in the mixtures was used in different percentages: 1%, 3%, 7% and 9%. The mentioned mixtures were analyzed in comparison with the reference sample, i.e. sample M0, to which no titanium dioxide was added. For the purposes of various tests, the samples were tested in a fresh and hardened state. In the fresh state, immediately after making the mixture, the density, consistency, and proportion of pores of each of the mixtures was determined. At 28 days of age of the samples, the compressive and tensile bending strength was tested. The test results concluded that with the addition of titanium dioxide, the density gradually increases, and the consistency, tested by the spreading method, decreases. The compressive and tensile bending strength also gradually increase with the increase in the proportion of the additive. On the other hand, no significant effect of titanium dioxide on protection against electromagnetic radiation was proven in the observed samples.
