    Leadership style’s impact on selected aspects of employee performance

    U ovom istraživanju kombiniraju se teorijski i empirijski pristupi da bi se bolje razumjelo kako različiti stilovi vođenja utječu na radni učinak zaposlenika. Znanje o stilovima vodstva rukovoditelja i motivacijskim teorijama iznimno je veliko i opsežno, na temelju čega je odabrana tematika ovog istraţivanja. Uključeni su zaposlenici iz različitih poslovnih sektora kao uzorak kako bi se dobile različite perspektive. Empirijsko istraživanje za potrebe ovoga diplomskog rada provodilo se putem anketa Google obrasca. Ovim anketiranjem ispitana je radna hipoteza koja je imala za cilj utvrditi postoji li povezanost između različitih stilova vođenja i radnog učinka zaposlenika. Rezultati ovog istraživanja mogu pružiti korisne uvide menadţerima u praski i odjelima za ljudske resurse koji se bave tom problematikom. Razumijevanje kako različiti stilovi vođenja utječu na radni učinak, ali i lojalnost zaposlenika može im pomoći u boljem oblikovanju vlastitih pristupa vođenju i motivaciji zaposlenika, što može rezultirati poboljšanjem poslovnih rezultata i zadovoljstva zaposlenih. Također, pokušat će se utvrditi postoji li razlika između „generacije X", kojom se uglavnom smatraju osobe rođene između druge polovice 1960-ih pa sve do ranih 1980-ih te generacije „milenijalaca" koji su rođeni nakon 1980-e godine pa sve do 2000-ih. Demokratski pristup pokazao se najučinkovitijim, potičući motivaciju i suradnju. Autokratski stil ima negativan utjecaj na radni učinak, dok laissez-faire zauzima srednji položaj. Percepcija vodstva također utječe na lojalnost zaposlenika, pri čemu demokratski i laissez-faire stilovi potiču zadržavanje. Razlike u generacijskim perspektivama o vjerojatnosti odlaska ističu važnost prilagodbe vodstva prema preferencijama svake generacije. Ova saznanja pruţaju smjernice za unaprjeđenje timskih odnosa, produktivnosti i dugoročnog zadržavanja talenata u organizacijama.This study combines theoretical and empirical approaches to better understand how different leadership styles impact employee performance. The knowledge on leadership styles and motivational theories is extensive, forming the basis for the chosen research theme. Employees from various business sectors were included as a sample to capture diverse perspectives. The empirical research for this thesis was conducted through Google Forms surveys. The survey aimed to test the working hypothesis that explores the connection between different leadership styles and employee performance. The results can offer valuable insights to managers and human resources departments dealing with this issue. Understanding how different leadership styles influence performance and employee loyalty can aid in shaping effective leadership and motivation approaches, ultimately leading to improved business results and employee satisfaction. Additionally, the study aims to determine if there is a difference between "Generation X," typically considered those born from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. The autocratic and the "Millennial" generation were born from the 1980s to the 2000s. The democratic leadership style was the most effective, fostering motivation and collaboration. The autocratic style negatively impacted performance, while laissez-faire assumed a middle position. The perception of leadership also affects employee loyalty, with democratic and laissez-faire styles promoting retention. Differences in generational perspectives on the likelihood of departure highlight the importance of adapting leadership to each generation's preferences. These findings guide improving team dynamics, productivity, and long-term talent retention in organizations

    Comparative analysis of financial reports using financial indicators

    U današnjem poslovnom okruženju, vođenje poslovnih knjiga i pravovremeno sastavljanje financijskih izvještaja ključni su za uspješno poslovanje poduzeća. Financijski izvještaji, kao što su bilanca, račun dobiti i gubitka te izvješće o novčanim tokovima važni su, za procjenu financijskog položaja, uspješnosti poslovanja poduzeća, kao i za donošenje odluka za buduće poslovanje poduzeća. U Republici Hrvatskoj izrada i predaja financijskih izvještaja regulirana je zakonskim propisima i obvezna je sve pravne subjekte. Kvalitetni financijski izvještaji trebaju biti relevantni, pouzdani, dosljedni, usporedivi, razumljivi i pravovremeni. U ovom završnom radu analizira se poslovanje poduzeća Aquae Viva d.d., Crvena Luka d.d., Mulino d.o.o., Hoteli Lišanj d.d. i Hoteli A d.o.o. u razdoblju od 2018. do 2022. godine. Prema Zakonu o računovodstvu navedena poduzeća su klasificirana kao mala poduzeća, a prema Nacionalnoj klasifikaciji djelatnosti 2007. - NKD 2007 navedena poduzeća su razvrstana u područje I odjeljak 55 Smještaj i u područje R odjeljak 93 Zabavne i rekreacijske djelatnosti. U radu se analiziraju financijski izvještaji odabranih poduzeća pomoću financijskih pokazatelja likvidnosti, ekonomičnosti, solventnosti, profitabilnosti i aktivnosti da bi se dobila ocjena o uspješnosti poslovanja navedenih poduzeća.In today's business environment, bookkeeping and timely preparation of financial statements are key to successful business operations. Financial statements, such as the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and cash flow report, are important for assessing the financial position and success of a company’s operations, as well as for making decisions for the company’s future operations. In the Republic of Croatia, the preparation and submission of financial statements is regulated by law and is mandatory for all legal entities. Financial statements should be relevant, reliable, consistent, comparable, understandable and timely. This final paper analyses the operations of the companies Aquae Viva d.d., Crvena Luka d.d., Mulino d.o.o., Hoteli Lišanj d.d. and Hoteli A d.o.o. in the period from 2018 to 2022. According to the Accounting Act, the listed companies are classified as small companies, and based on the 2007 National Classification of Activities (NKD 2007), the listed companies are classified in Area I Section 55 Accommodation and Area R Section 93 Entertainment and Recreational Activities. The paper analyses the financial statements of the selected companies using the financial indicators of liquidity, economy, solvency, profitability and activity to obtain an assessment of the performance of the mentioned companies

    U ovome radu istraženo je upravljanje hostelom na primjeru hostela La Ventana Azul smještenoga u Las Palmasu na Kanarskome otočju. Rad je nastao na temelju Erasmus+ stručne prakse tijekom šest mjeseci provedenih radeći u hostelu. Hostel je uspješno pozicioniran kao turistički objekt prilagođena mladima, posebice ljubiteljima surfanja te putnicima koji traže autentična iskustva. Iz pristupa menadžmentu hostela La Ventana Azul prikazano je planiranje i vođenje operativnih procesa, uz stalan naglasak na zadovoljstvo gostiju i samih volontera koji čine okosnicu poslovanja. S obzirom na dinamičnost turističke industrije, vidljivo je da menadžment neprestano prilagođava svoje strategije kako bi odgovorio na promjenjive potrebe gostiju i tržišta. Također, u radu su analizirane prednosti i nedostatci hostelske industrije u Republici Hrvatskoj te izazovi i prilike koje prethode razvitku hostelske industrije.This paper explores hostel management using the example of La Ventana Azul Hostel located in Las Palmas, Canary Islands. The research is based on an Erasmus+ internship, involving six months of working at the hostel. The hostel has successfully positioned itself as a youthfriendly tourist facility, particularly for surfing enthusiasts and travelers seeking authentic experiences. The hostel's management approach demonstrates the planning and execution of operational processes with a constant emphasis on guest satisfaction and relying on volunteers who form the core staff. Given the dynamic nature of the tourism industry, it is evident that the management continually adjusts its strategies to meet the changing needs of guests and the market. Additionally, the paper analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the hostel industry in Croatia, along with the challenges and opportunities that accompany its development

    The role of social networks in defining young people's attitudes about aesthetic corrections

    U ovom završnom radu pokušalo se istražiti imaju li društvene mreže utjecaj na stavove mladih o estetskim korekcijama. Svrha rada bila je saznati na koji način društvene mreže propagiraju standarde ljepote, na koji se način usluge estetskih korekcija oglašavaju ili promoviraju, te utječe li navedeno na pojedinca i njegovu/njenu sliku o sebi, kao i na stavove i mišljenja o estetskim operacijama. Pokušalo se doznati postoji li veza tj. utjecaj društvenih mreža na krajnju odluku o odlasku na neku estetsku korekciju. Istraživanje je provedeno kvantitativnom metodom anketnog upitnika online putem. Rezultati istraživanja potvrđuju dosadašnja saznanja iz literature dovodeći u direktnu korelaciju korištenje društvenih mreža, razinu samopoštovanja i zadovoljstva vlastitim izgledom sa stavom odobravanja estetskih korekcija. Preporuka za daljnja istraživanja jest provesti kvalitativno istraživanje osoba sa višom i nižom razinom samopouzdanja i samopoštovanja kako bi se otkrili osobni uzroci, a nakon čega je potrebno istražiti stav o estetskim korekcijama te usporediti rezultate.The paper tried to investigate whether social networks have an influence on young people's attitudes about cosmetic corrections. The purpose of the work was to find out how social networks propagate beauty standards, how aesthetic correction services are advertised or promoted, and whether this affects the individual and his/her self-image, as well as attitudes and opinions about aesthetic surgeries. We tried to find out if there is a connection, i.e. the influence of social networks on the final decision to go for some aesthetic correction. The research was conducted using the quantitative method of an online survey questionnaire. The results of the research confirm previous knowledge from the literature, directly correlating the use of social networks, the level of self-confidence and satisfaction with one's own appearance with the attitude of approving aesthetic corrections. The recommendation for further research is to conduct a qualitative study of people with a high level of self-confidence and self-esteem and a low level in order to discover personal causes, and after that to investigate the attitude towards aesthetic corrections and compare the results

    Ovaj rad istražuje obilježja, vrste i zlouporabu podataka, te metode zaštite podataka na prijenosnim medijima. Rad počinje definiranjem problema i predmeta istraživanja, ciljeva istraživanja, istraživačkih pitanja te metoda istraživanja. Zatim se bavi pojmovima i vrstama osobnih podataka, procesima prikupljanja, obrade i pohrane podataka, teorijskim osnovama šifriranja, te prijenosnim medijima i uređajima za pohranu podataka. Rad analizira različite metode zaštite podataka, uključujući fizičke i programske metode zaštite, te detaljno istražuje metode i algoritme šifriranja. Uz to, rad pruža komparativni prikaz programa za šifriranje i uništenje podataka, kao što su Bitlocker, Truecrypt, Mcafee Endpoint Encryption, HDDErase, Macrorit i DiskWipe. Empirijsko istraživanje usmjereno je na svijest o potrebi i mogućnostima korištenja programa za šifriranje i uništenje podataka, pri čemu se analiziraju određenje uzorka, ograničenja istraživanja, metode prikupljanja podataka te rezultati istraživanja. Na temelju rezultata, rad pruža raspravu i zaključak o važnosti zaštite podataka i primjeni programa za šifriranje i uništenje podataka u suvremenom digitalnom okruženju.This paper investigates the characteristics, types and misuse of data, and methods of data protection on portable media. The paper begins by defining the problem and subject of the research, research objectives, research questions and research methods. It then deals with concepts and types of personal data, data collection, processing and storage processes, theoretical foundations of encryption, and portable media and data storage devices. The paper analyzes various data protection methods, including physical and software protection methods, and explores encryption methods and algorithms in detail. Additionally, the paper provides a comparative overview of data encryption and destruction programs, such as Bitlocker, Truecrypt, Mcafee Endpoint Encryption, HDDErase, Macrorit, and DiskWipe. Empirical research is focused on awareness of the need and possibilities of using data encryption and destruction programs, while analyzing sample determination, research limitations, data collection methods, and research results. Based on the results, the paper provides a discussion and conclusion about the importance of data protection and the application of data encryption and destruction programs in the modern digital environment

    Examination of the public's perception of the rebranding of a selected hotel in Zagreb

    Brend je proizvod, usluga ili koncept s jedinstvenim i prepoznatljivim identitetom koji se razlikuje od drugih u svojoj industriji. Potrošač tako povezuje specifičnosti naziva i izgleda s određenim atributima kao što su vrijednost, kvaliteta i ukus. Na brend se nadovezuje pojam rebrendinga kao marketinške strategije koja podrazumijeva stvaranje novog izgleda ili dojma za odabrani proizvod ili brend općenito. Često se hotelsko poduzeće na kraju nađe u poziciji u kojoj je rebrending potreban s obzirom na promjenjive trendove i zahtjeve potrošača. Na temelju provedenog istraživanja metodom online ankete zaključuje se kako je hotel obogatio turističku ponudu grada Zagreba sasvim drukčijim konceptom te rebrendingom stvorio adekvatnu ponudu i sadržaje za novu ciljnu skupinu – generaciju Y i Z, kojoj se nude nove mogućnosti kao što su eventi u sklopu poslovnih kongresa, pružanje drukčije dizajniranog kvalitetnog smještaja, gastronomska ponuda sportašima i turističkim grupama. Također, veliki je izazov rebrendiranog hotela prilagođavanje potrebama i osobnim preferencijama ciljne skupine te vanjskih korisnika istovremeno zadržavajući vlastiti identitet i prvobitnu ideju.A brand is a product, a service or a concept with a unique and recognizable identity that differs from others in the industry. Customers associate specific characteristic of a brand name and appearance with certain attributes, such as value, quality and taste. The concept of brand is closely associated with the concept of rebranding, which is a marketing strategy that implies creation of a new appearance or impression for a selected product or company. Due to changing trends and customers’ demands, all hotel companies eventually face the need to rebrand. Precisely for such reasons, Maistra Hospitality Group from Rovinj rebranded the Hotel Panorama to the Zonar Zagreb Hotel by purchasing part of the shares of HUP Zagreb at the beginning of 2023. Based on the conducted research, it can be concluded that the hotel has enriched the tourist offer of the city of Zagreb with a completely different concept, and by rebranding it has created a new target group - the generation Z and millennials, as well as an adequate offer and facilities for those customers, but also new opportunities for the existing target group. Those include events during business congresses, providing quality accommodation with an exquisite design and gastronomic offer to athletes and tourist groups as well as external customers, who are frequent users of the hotel’s services. Also, a significant challenge of a rebranded hotel is the issue how to adapt to the needs and personal preferences of the target group and external users while at the same time maintaining its own identity and original idea

    Recreation park realization project "Bike park Sljeme"

    Ovim poslovnim planom prikazana je isplativost projekta realizacije rekreativnog bike parka Sljeme. Intencija samog projekta jest proširiti ponudu izletišta Sljeme u vidu bike parka, s mogućnosti najma opreme i korištenja izgrađenih poligona. Temeljem analize tržišta kroz analizu tržišta prodaje, analize konkurencije i prognoze prodaje razvijen je plan poslovanja kroz opis tehnološkog procesa, analize lokacije te potrebne opreme i zaposlenika. Također su izrađeni plan marketinga i prodaje, organizacija i upravljanje, terminski i financijski plan. U financijskom planu razrađena su potrebna ulaganja i izvori financiranja, obračuni kreditnih obaveza i troškova poslovanja, a napravljen je račun dobiti i gubitka, novčani tok prije financiranja i bilanca. Za kraj, napravljena je ocjena učinka u koju ulaze financijski pokazatelji, neto sadašnja vrijednost te indeks profitabilnosti te ocjena rizika. Korištenjem navedenih standardnih ekonomskih modela za izradu poslovnog plana, ustanovljeno je da s ulaganjem od 116.441 eura ovaj projekt moguće realizirati uz minimalne rizike i s planiranom točkom pokrića već u prvoj godini realizacije.This business plan shows the profitability of the Sljeme recreation bike park realization project. The intention of the project itself is to expand the offer of the Sljeme picnic area in the form of a bike park, with the possibility of renting equipment and using the constructed training grounds. Based on market analysis through sales market analysis, competition analysis and sales forecasts, a business plan was developed through a description of the technological process, location analysis and necessary equipment and employees. A marketing and sales plan, organization and management, term and financial plan were also created. In the financial plan, the necessary investments and sources of financing, calculations of credit obligations and operating costs were elaborated, and a profit and loss account, cash flow before financing and a balance sheet were prepared. Finally, a performance assessment was made, which includes financial indicators, net present value and profitability index, as well as risk assessment. By using the aforementioned standard economic models for creating a business plan, it was established that with an investment of 116.441 euros, this project can be realized with minimal risks and with the planned break even in the first year of implementation

    Potraga za narativom – dramski tekst i filozofija modernog nihilizma

    Koncipiran kao transmedijski projekt, ovaj rad se bavi filozofskim strujama metafizičke prirode koje se provlače kroz tri različita djela, odnosno tri različite fabule iz istog narativnog univerzuma. Sadrži raspisani dramski tekst za kazališnu izvedbu te dvije narativne ekstenzije istoga teksta film u kojemu se obrađuje pozadinska priča jednog sporednog lika te koncept videoigre u kojoj se razrađuje esencija narativnoga svijeta i dovodi u pitanje sa ma svijest lika kao imperativ razmatranja. Pojedinac u svim razradama na svojevrstan način prolazi kroz proces individualizacije te je nositelj određene struje misli usko vezane uz nihilistički pristup današnjeg metamodernog doba. Obrađene teme temelje se na jungovskoj filozofiji kolektivnog nesvjesnog te Nietzscheovoj teoriji gradnje naravi i vrijednosti kao temelja iscjeljivanja ništavila. Premisa individualnih djela nije ograničena određenom poantom ili društvenim komentarom, već se razvija uzevši u obzir psihološki proces i karakterni luk različitih pojedinaca u specifičnim kontekstima. Taj kontekst pak predstavlja razrađenu vanjsku presliku unutarnjeg svijeta koji je duboko potisnut u čovjeku. Ta je preslika simulacijski prikaz njegove potisnute boli te boli kolektivnog nesvjesnog u jednoj vremenski bliskoj distopiji. Cilj je prikazati moć pojedinca da bude donositelj svjetla, a pritom se uzimaju u obzir proces njegovog osvještavanja prima materij te transformativne operacije kojima individualac pronalazi sebe u cijelosti. On to čini spajanjem vlastitih suprotnosti i suočavanjem s vlastitom sjenom, kao i sjenom svega onoga što je proizveo. Govori se i o materiji i kreativnoj ekspresiji same svijesti koja proizlazi iz sukoba dvojnosti. Protagonisti su dovedeni u situacije u kojima pronalaze vlastitu esenciju. Subjekt pos taje objektom promatranja, kojeg oni karakteriziraju u nadi za samoprepoznavanjem. Time na ljudski način prikazuju transcendentno stanje koje predstavlja novi kvantum svijesti.Conceived as a transmedia project, this study deals with philosophical currents of a metaphysical nature which run through three different works, or three different stories, belonging to the same narrative universe. It contains a dramatic text intended for theatre performance, and two narrative extensions of the same text – a film that deals with the background story of a secondary character, and a concept for a video game which elaborates on the essence of the narrative world, and brings into question the very consciousness of the character as an imperative for consideration. The individual, in all the elaborations, goes through a process of individualisation and bears a particular stream of thought which is closely connected to the nihilistic approach of today’s meta-modern age. The elaborated topics are based on Jung’s philosophy of the collective unconscious, and on Nietzsche’s theory of building character and values as a basis for healing nothingness. The premise of the individual pieces is not confined to making a particular point or giving a social commentary, but is developed taking into account the psychological processes and the character arc of different individuals in specific contexts. However, these contexts represent an elaborated outer copy of the internal world which lies deeply supressed within an individual. This copy is a simulation of the individual’s supressed pain, and of the pain of the collective unconscious in a not very distant dystopia. The aim is to show the power of the individual as a bearer of light, while taking into consideration the process of raising the individual’s awareness of prima materia. The purpose is also to present the transformative processes through which individuals wholly find themselves. They do this by bringing together their own opposites, and by facing their own shadow, as well as the shadow of everything they produce. This study also deals with the matter and creative expression of consciousness itself, which arises from the conflict of duality. The protagonists are placed in situations where they find their own essence. They thus represent, in a human form, the transcendence of new quantum consciousness

    An analysis of the role of fintech in the development of digital payments in Croatia

    U posljednjem desetljeću svjedoči se snažnom utjecaju fintech kompanija na oblikovanje financijske industrije, a posebice u segmentu digitalnih plaćanja. Svojim inovacijama i novim kreativnim rješenjima potpuno su promijenili platno-prometni krajobraz. U radu je prikazan teorijski okvir o digitalnim plaćanjima i utjecaju fintecha na njihov razvoj, navedene su inovacije potaknute fintechom te je pojašnjena suradnja između fintech kompanija i tradicionalnih financijskih institucija, kao i regulacija i zakonodavni okvir. Nadalje, prikazani su primjeri dobre prakse hrvatskih fintech kompanija. Zatim su navedeni rezultati provedenog empirijskog istraživanja na uzorku od 117 ispitanika koji koriste digitalne oblike plaćanja u svakodnevnom životu. Predstavljeni su rezultati analize 5 web-stranica odabranih trgovaca i mogućnosti korištenja digitalnih oblika plaćanja u Hrvatskoj, te o tržišnoj primjeni najnovijih trendova. Također, navedena je i studija tržišta na temelju proučavanja dostupnih statističkih pokazatelja. Na kraju, na temelju svih navedenih rezultata i identificiranih čimbenika, formirani su zaključci o ulozi fintecha na razvoj digitalnih plaćanja u Hrvatskoj te upotrebi u svakodnevnom životu.In the past decade, there has been a significant influence of fintech companies on shaping the financial industry, particularly in the field of digital payments. Through their innovations and creative solutions, they have completely transformed the payments landscape. This paper presents a theoretical framework on digital payments and the impact of fintech on their development, highlights fintech-driven innovations, and explains the collaboration between fintech companies and traditional financial institutions, as well as the regulatory and legislative framework. Furthermore, examples of best practices from Croatian fintech companies are provided. The results of an empirical study conducted on a sample of 117 respondents who use digital payment methods in everyday life are presented, along with an analysis of the websites of five selected merchants and the possibilities of using digital payment methods in Croatia, focusing on the market application of the latest trends. Additionally, a market study based on the examination of available statistical indicators is included. Finally, based on all the aforementioned results and factors, conclusions were drawn about the role of fintech in the development of digital payments in Croatia and their use in everyday life
