Investigating Fuel Reduction Methods Through Propeller Optimization on Coastal Ro-Ro Liner Vessels
In light of efforts to reduce GHG emissions, liner ship operators in coastal navigation are undertaking numerous activities to contribute to the reduction of fossil fuel consumption during the transitional period toward environmentally friendly propulsion systems without compromising their regular operations. Regular ship overhauls, which include removing fouling from the underwater part of the hull and optimizing propellers, also contribute to this goal and are the focus of this research. The ship propeller, as a key component of the propulsion system, plays a significant role in ensuring reliable, safe, and economical navigation. Proper selection and regular maintenance of the propeller are essential for achieving optimal performance. This paper presents the optimization of a fixed-pitch propeller according to the ISO 484/2 standard to Class I using Metrascan 3D technology. This technology enables a detailed analysis of the propeller geometry, identification of irregularities, correction, and adjustment to achieve better hydrodynamic characteristics. The pitch corrections of the propeller resulted in improved overall vessel performance and fuel consumption, as demonstrated by comparing the consumption before and after the optimization
Cospas-Sarsat system : Detection of persons at sea
Satelitski sustavi su jedan od najvažnijih dijelova unaprjeđenja sigurnosti i prevencije u pomorskom prijevozu. Međutim, kada nastane potreba za traganjem i spašavanjem na moru, postaju još važniji. U ovom završnom radu analizirani su COSPAS-SARSAT sustav i svi njegovi dijelovi, organizacija rada te uređaji koji se koriste kao komunikacijska sredstva neposredno povezana s COSPAS-SARSAT sustavom. Analizirani su postupci svih strana koje djeluju u akciji pronalaženja i spašavanja osoba u moru, uređaji i plutače te sustavi koji poboljšavaju i usavršavaju proces traganja i spašavanja na moru. Na moru uvijek prijeti određena opasnost te s tom činjenicom svaki sustav koji unaprjeđuje sigurnost ne smanjuje samo štetu nego doslovno spašava živote.Satellite systems are one of the most important segments of improving safety and prevention in maritime transport. However, when there is a need for search and rescue at sea, they become even more important. In this final paper, the COSPAS-SARSAT system and all its parts, work organization and devices used as communication tools directly connected to the COSPAS-SARSAT system are analyzed. The procedures of all parties involved in the operation of finding and rescuing persons at sea, devices and buoys and systems that improve the search and rescue process at sea have been analyzed. There is always a certain danger at sea. Referring to that, any system that improves safety not only reduces damage but literally saves lives

Antene komunikacijskih uređaja na brodu pružaju vitalnu vezu između brodova i kopna te među brodovima na otvorenom moru. U ovom završnom radu kroz 5 poglavlja istražen je značaj MF/HF i VHF antena u GMDSS sustavu, uključujući njihove različite vrste, funkcije i ključne karakteristike. Svjetski pomorski sustav za pogibelj i sigurnost (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System–GMDSS) značajno je unaprijedio sigurnost navigacije i omogućio pomorcima dobivanje informacija koje su važne za sigurnost plovidbe. U ovom završnom radu je istražen i značaj EPIRB i SART uređaja koji se koriste u slučaju nesreće.On-board communications antennas provide a vital link between ships and land and between ships on the open seas. In this final assignment, through 5 chapters, the significance of MF/HF and VHF antennas in the GMDSS system, including their different types, functions and key characteristics, is explored. The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) has significantly improved the safety of navigation and enabled seafarers to obtain information that is important for the safety of navigation. Corpus of Croatian News Portals ENGRI (2020-2024)
Korpus hrvatskih novinskih portala ENGRI (2020-2024) nadogradnja je postojećeg korpusa ENGRI (https://repository.pfri.uniri.hr/islandora/object/pfri%3A2156), koji je obuhvaćao tekstove s najpopularnijih mrežnih stranica u Hrvatskoj u razdoblju 2014.-2020. (http://www.digitalnewsreport.org), a ovisno o dostupnosti i pristupu skidanja podataka. Oba su korpusa prikupljena u svrhu provedbe znanstveno-istraživačkog projekta Hrvatske zaklade za znanost ("Engleske riječi u hrvatskome jeziku: identifikacija, afektivno-semantičko normiranje i ispitivanje kognitivne obrade bihevioralnim i neuroznanstvenim metodama", UIP-2019-04-1576).Koristila se ista metoda pretraživanja mrežnih izvora i povlačenja podataka (engl. web crawling), kao i u sastavljanju prvog ENGRI korpusa, a obuhvaćeni izvori uključuju Hrt, Direktno, Novi list, 24sata, Večernji, Jutarnji, Indeks.hr, Dnevno, Slobodnu Dalmaciju i Telegram. Dobiveni podaci pohranjeni su u .json formatu
Maritime satellite antenna
Ovaj rad objašnjava važnost satelitskih antena u pomorskim komunikacijama i fokusira se na različite vrste antena i satelitskih sustava kao što su GEO, LEO i MEO. Naglašava ulogu ovih sustava, posebno mreže Inmarsat, u pružanju važnih komunikacijskih usluga brodovima. Tehnički aspekti kao što su pojačanje antene i polarizacija također su pokriveni kako bi se osigurala učinkovita komunikacija na moru. Također su detaljno objašnjene parabolične antene i fazni antenski nizovi.This paper discusses the importance of satellite antennas in maritime communications and focuses on the different types of antennas and satellite systems such as GEO, LEO and MEO. It emphasizes the role of these systems, especially the Inmarsat network, in providing vital communications services to ships. Technical aspects such as antenna gain and polarization are also covered to ensure effective communications at sea. Parabolic antennas and phased array antennas are also explained in detail

Navigacija broda zahtijeva preciznu kontrolu nad smjerom plovidbe, što se postiže putem kormilarskog uređaja. Hidraulični kormilarski uređaj je jedna od najvažnijih komponenti u modernom brodarstvu, osiguravajući efikasnost, pouzdanost i sigurnost u upravljanju brodom. Izraz „hidraulika“ uključuje šire područje pojmova vezanih za hidrauliku fluida primijenjenu kod hidrauličnog prijenosa snage. U ovom sustavu hidrauličkog kormilarskog uređaja, bitno je razmotriti njegove komponente, te prednosti i izazove u upotrebi, grafički prikazati pojedine dijelove, izvedbe i simbole hidrauličkog sustava.Navigation of the ship requires precise control over the direction of navigation, which is achieved through a steering device. The hydraulic steering device is one of the most important components in modern shipping, ensuring efficiency, reliability and safety in ship management. The term "hydraulics" includes a broader field of concepts related to fluid hydraulics applied to hydraulic power transmission. In this system of the hydraulic steering device, it is important to consider its components, as well as the advantages and challenges in use, to graphically display individual parts, performances and symbols of the hydraulic system
Analysis of cruising tourism in croatian ports
Kruzing turizam je posljednjih nekoliko desetljeća doživio brojne transformacije te postao sve popularniji oblik turizma s tendencijom daljnjeg rasta i razvoja. Republika Hrvatska sa svojom prekrasnom i razvedenom obalom te povijesnim obalnim gradovima, postala je popularno odredište za krstarenja, privlačeći milijune turista svake godine. U ovom diplomskom radu ukazuje se na značaj kružnih putovanja na destinaciju te lokalno, ali i nacionalno gospodarstvo. U radu je provedena analiza kruzing turizma u Republici Hrvatskoj s posebnim osvrtom na analizu kruzing brodova koji posjećuju hrvatske luke, analizu prometa i infrastrukture glavnih putničkih luka Hrvatske. Na temelju provedene analize izvršena je i usporedba kretanja broja putnika na kružnim putovanjima po prethodno analiziranim lukama (Rijeka, Zadar, Šibenik, Split i Dubrovnik) te je dan osvrt na trendove u kružnim putovanjima u Republici Hrvatskoj. Rezultati istraživanja i dobiveni zaključci u ovom diplomskom radu ukazuju na potrebu za strateškim planiranjem te suradnjom među dionicima kako bi se osigurala dugoročna održivost kruzing turizma u hrvatskim lukama.Cruising tourism has experienced numerous transformations in the last few decades and has become an increasingly popular form of tourism with a tendency for further growth and development. The Republic of Croatia, with its beautiful and indented coastline and historic coastal towns, has become a popular cruise destination, attracting millions of tourists every year. In this master thesis, the importance of cruises to the destination and the local and national economy is pointed out. The paper analyzes cruise tourism in the Republic of Croatia with special reference to the analysis of cruise ships visiting Croatian ports, analysis of traffic and infrastructure of the main passenger ports in Croatia. Based on the analysis, a comparison was made of the number of passengers on cruises in the previously analyzed ports (Rijeka, Zadar, Šibenik, Split and Dubrovnik) and an overview of trends in cruises in the Republic of Croatia was given. The results of the research and the conclusions obtained in this master thesis point to the need for strategic planning and cooperation among stakeholders in order to ensure the long-term sustainability of cruise tourism in Croatian ports
Assessment of the state of ship systems and maintenance planning
Od početaka razvoja pomorstva i brodarstva od ključne važnosti za uspješnost poslovanja,
plovidbe i dugotrajnost brodova upravo je stavka njihov održavanja. U suvremenom svijetu
razvijen je značajan broj strategija održavanja brodova s osnovnim ciljem povećanja sigurnosti
plovidbe, poslovanja i posade, osiguranja učinkovitosti te smanjenja potencijalnog negativnog
utjecaja plovidbe na okoliš. Međunarodni, regionalni i nacionalni pravni propisi svakako
propisuju obvezu održavanja brodova i njihovih sustava te različitim aktima podupiru sigurnu
plovidbu te daju odobrenja za istu. Planiranje provođenja različitih oblika održavanja glavna je
zadaća brodara i brodskih operatera, koji imaju najveći interes od brodova i sustava koji su u
ispravnom stanju. Strategije održavanja brodskih sustava podrazumijevanju njihovo korektivno
i preventivno održavanje, primjenu terotehnologije, TPM i RCM oblika održavanja te sustava
samoodržavanja koji postaju sve popularniji kod novoizgrađenih brodova. Neovisno o načinu
održavanja, isto predstavlja nužan i obvezan postupak, čije pomno planiranje i provedba mogu
rezultirati značajnim pomacima u poslovanju, prvenstveno u troškovnom smislu.From the beginning of the development of maritime and shipping industry, the item of
maintenance is of key importance for the success of business, navigation and longevity of ships.
In the modern world, a significant number of ship maintenance strategies have been developed
with the basic goal of increasing the safety of navigation, operations and crew, ensuring
efficiency and reducing the potential negative impact of navigation on the environment.
International, regional and national legal regulations certainly stipulate the obligation to
maintain ships and their systems and support safe navigation with various acts and give
approvals for the same. Planning the implementation of various forms of maintenance is the
main task of shipowners and ship operators, who have the greatest interest in ships and systems
that are in good condition. Strategies for maintaining ship systems include their corrective and
preventive maintenance, the use of terotechnology, TPM and RCM forms of maintenance, and
self-maintenance systems that are becoming more and more popular with newly built ships.
Regardless of the maintenance method, it is a necessary and mandatory procedure, the careful
planning and implementation of which can result in significant changes in business, primarily
in terms of costs
Application and development trends of combined transport technologies
Kombinirani prijevoz je vrsta transportnog sustava koji kombinira dva ili više načina prijevoza za isporuku robe. U osnovi, kombinirani prijevoz podrazumijeva kombinaciju prijevoza kopnom i morem, a potreban je samo jedan dokument za kretanje robe na cijeloj ruti. Kombinirani prijevoz smanjuje troškove rukovanja teretom, minimizira štetu ili gubitak i poboljšava sigurnost omogućavajući brži transport tereta. Ključ za korištenje multimodalnog (kombiniranog) prijevoza je njegova ekonomska učinkovitost sa stajališta prijevoznika. Parametar koji se ispituje može biti ili granična transportna udaljenost željezničkog prijevoza ili granični broj jedinica. Kombinirani prijevoz podložan je određenim predrasudama u pogledu njegove učinkovitosti i isplativosti. Dugoročno održivo rješenje za razvoj učinkovitog i održivog kombiniranog transporta i multimodalne logistike može se postići samo brzim rješavanjem problema s razinom usluga i troškovima, bez potrebe za posebnim mjerama, financijskom potporom ili namjenskim regulatornim okvirom. Kombiniranost bi tada mogla igrati svoju punu ulogu u prometnom sustavu i predstavljati atraktivnu alternativu unimodalnom cestovnom prijevozu.Combined transport is a type of transport system that combines two or more modes of transport to deliver goods. Basically, combined transport implies a combination of transport by land and sea, and only one document is required for the movement of goods on the entire route. Combined transportation reduces cargo handling costs, minimizes damage or loss, and improves safety by enabling faster cargo transportation. The key to using multimodal (combined) transport is its economic efficiency from the point of view of the carrier. The parameter to be examined can be either the limit transport distance of rail transport or the limit number of units. Combined transport is subject to certain prejudices regarding its efficiency and cost-effectiveness. A long-term sustainable solution for the development of efficient and sustainable combined transport and multimodal logistics can only be achieved by quickly solving problems with service levels and costs, without the need for special measures, financial support or a dedicated regulatory framework. The combination could then play its full role in the transport system and represent an attractive alternative to unimodal road transport
