The impact of maritime and coastal tourism on the sustainable development of local communities
This paper explores the impact of maritime and coastal tourism on local communities, with a particular focus on sustainable development. Maritime and coastal tourism is crucial for both tourism and the economy, with rapid development that requires careful consideration from a sustainability perspective. The goal of sustainable development is to enhance the quality of life for local communities and future generations, taking into account ecological, economic, and social dimensions. Data was collected through a survey investigating local residents' perceptions of ecological challenges, economic benefits, and social changes. The findings indicate that tourism contributes to economic growth and employment, but also exerts pressure on local resources, increases property prices, and necessitates additional infrastructural adjustments. Respondents recognize the importance of environmental conservation and emphasize the need for concrete actions such as improved waste management systems and protection of natural resources. Additionally, there is a need to regulate tourism activities to maintain the quality of life for local residents, including greater involvement of local communities in decision-making processes, engagement of local producers, and promotion of education and sustainable practices in tourism

Determining ship resistance by model testing
Hydrodynamics is a science that studies the motion of fluids and what causes those motions. For a ship in navigation, resistance calculation is particularly important. Resistance is defined as a force that opposes the motion of the ship.
This paper presents the methods of determining the ship's resistance, with the purpose of designing a ship with as minimal energy consumption as possible. Ship's model testing is an aid in choosing the optimal form of ships concerning resistance.
Based on the results of the ship's resistance test, obtained at the shipping institute, the given values were transferred to the ship's model. The 3D model of the ship was obtained by photogrammetrically recording the hull of the model and inserting it into a suitable program.
The total resistance was calculated using the Holtrop-Mennen method. The obtained results were compared with the results of experimental model testing and they showed minimal errors

Planning of Ship's Drydocking
Drydock is the process of pulling a ship out of the water to dry and maintain it. There are four basic types of docks where such repairs can be carried out: dry dock, floating dock, ship lift, and slipway. All inspections are supervised by classification societies, which establish maintenance rules, issue certificates to ships, and test devices and machines—all with the aim of ensuring safety at sea and protecting the marine environment. There are only ten classification societies in the world, among which is the Croatian society, Croatian Ship Register. The aim of this work is to provide an overview of ship drydock planning and maintenance procedures that take place in the dock. The types of plans needed for the ship to be drydocked safely are shown, as well as the types of costs to which the ship is subject during docking and the maintenance methods on which the planned maintenance of the ship is based
Analysis of the state control of navigation devices in the PM system
Osiguravanje sigurnosti i učinkovitosti pomorskog prometa doprinosi neometanom funkcioniranju globalnih opskrbnih lanaca. Planiranje održavanja i kontrolu takvog procesa obavlja posada. Osigurava pojednostavljene operacije i učinkovitost s digitalnim rješenjima koja pokrivaju održavanje, nabavu, HSQE, posadu, performanse, brodske dnevnike i izvještavanje.Ensuring the safety and efficiency of maritime transport contributes to the smooth functioning of global supply chains. This is more important than ever in these difficult times where the industry has to deliver vital goods while facing major problems such as heavy port congestion, shortage of empty containers and rising freight rates. Furthermore, systems for planned maintenance in the maritime sector enable monitoring of maintenance according to the manufacturer's recommendations and the rules of the classification societies. Maintenance planning and control of that process is done by the crew. However, the application of a preventive maintenance system is expensive, because during the inspection, all damaged parts of the component are replaced. Nowadays, we can see a lot of electronic devices and advanced equipment on a ship that make it easy for the ship's crew to easily define a number of parameters. The electronic map display and information system is a specialized digital navigation computer and an alternative to paper maps. Stores a set of electronic navigation charts (ENC) and/or raster charts, which can display all the necessary information the crew needs for safe navigation. Radar and then ARPA were invented to help seafarers navigate safely. With GPS, a ship's crew can determined their exact location. SERTICA is widely used by shipping companies worldwide on more than 2000 ships. It ensures streamlined operations and efficiency with digital solutions covering maintenance, procurement, HSQE, crew, performance, logbooks and reporting
Analysis of integration, control of display alarms from aspect of ergonomic enhancment
Human error is the root cause of all accidents, therefore it is understable the desire of all parties in the maritime industry to reduce human error to bare minimum. This Master's Thesis using analyical method, will tackle how various alarms and their indications are affecting humans and their capability to undergo various tasks. Branch of science that deals with interactions of humans and working environment is called ergonomics, and conclusions which it made will be one of main pillars of this theisis. The desire to increase safety of navigation has lead to the incresead number of sensors and alarms which monitor the navigation of vessel. Increased number of sensors has lead to the increase of possible distractions that can divert the attention of the officer in charge of navigation. The task of this theisis is to determine the optimal ways in which all of the sensors, which result in alarms and warnings, can be adequately implemented in ships' design so that they can truly help the seafarers that are sailing on these vessels
Business performance of marinas and nautical ports
U ovom završnom radu razrađujemo temu uspješnosti poslovanja marina i nautičkih luka u RH. In this final paper, we elaborate on the topic of business success of marinas and nautical ports in the Republic of Croatia. Over a five-year period, we dissect the performance of nautical ports int he Republic of Croatia through specific figures (number of berths on land and sea, total revenue, revenue from renting berths, etc.). Furthermore, marketing is one of the key branches for the successful operation of nautical ports, and accordingly we have clarified the role of the marketing mix (designing a nautical-tourism product, pricing, distribution of a nautical-tourism product and promotion of a nautical-tourism product) for a successful marketing aspect. Then we described the strategy for the development of nautical tourism in the Republic of Croatia, the vision and mission of nautical tourism, clear strategic goals, and what can be done better in this regard in the future. At the very end, we made a SWOT analysis of the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities and threats of Croatian nautical tourism
Analysis of contemporary threats to maritime security
International maritime security is of paramount importance to the maritime sector, particularly seafarers. The perception and importance of maritime security have evolved and are the subject of ongoing analysis. The concept of maritime security is closely linked to potential threats that may pose a danger to crews, ships, or the cargoes they carry. These threats are also subject to change over time. Different types of threats can have different implications for maritime security. Currently, the greatest threats to the world merchant fleet come from pirate attacks, armed robbery, military operations in certain maritime regions, and terrorist operations by rebel groups in the Middle East. These threats vary in nature,
frequency, and motivation in different parts of the world, and so there are certain areas that are particularly vulnerable to such threats. This paper provides an analysis of maritime security from the perspective of piracy, armed robbery, and maritime terrorism by analsying individual attacks in different regions from 2019. to April 2024. Each reported attack is broken down into various characteristics. Recurring characteristics in different and unrelated attacks are observed. This results in a pattern from which specific recommendations characteristic of individual regions is derived. The recommendations are subject to the dynamics of changes in international maritime security and should be actively modified and adapted accordingly
