Harmonics reduction methods for ships power network
Cilj rada je predstaviti pojam viših harmonika u brodskoj električnoj mreži, njihove izvore, njihov utjecaj na brodsku električnu opremu, a posebno metode koje se mogu primijeniti za njihovo otklanjanje. S ciljem boljeg razumijevanja, u sklopu rada je ukratko predstavljen i sam brodski električni sustav, počevši od izvora električne energije i razvoda do trošila električne energije na brodu. Temeljem predstavljenih sadržaja donesen je zaključak o učinkovitosti i prikladnosti pojedinih metoda za smanjenje viših harmonika na brodskoj električnoj mreži.The goal of the thesis is to present the concept of higher harmonics in the ship's electrical network, their sources, impact on the ship's electrical equipment, and especially the methods that can be applied to eliminate them. For better understanding, the paper also presents the ship's electrical system, from power sources and distribution to electrical loads on board. Based on the presented contents, a conclusion was made on the efficiency and suitability of certain methods for the reduction of higher harmonics in marine electrical systems
New infections risks on slips
Cilj ovoga rada je na temelju literature utvrditi koji su novi epidemiološki rizici na kruzerima i brodovima te kakav je njihov utjecaj na pomorce i putnike. Zbog same prirode njihovog posla, pomorci obilaze mnoge luke po različitim dijelovima svijeta, te su samim time izloženi mnogim zaraznim bolestima. Kronične nezarazne bolesti, nesreće i maligne bolesti su u novije vrijeme najvažniji uzroci smrtnosti i pobola kod pomoraca. Pandemija COVID-19 proširila se na brojne brodove za krstarenje, a priroda takvih brodova su pretrpana poluzatvorena područja, povećana izloženost novom okruženju i ograničeni medicinski resursi, što pridonosi povećanom riziku i bržem širenju bolesti. Do same pojave pandemije COVID 19, zarazne bolesti su izgubile na intenzitetu javljanja, ali njihovo učešće u pobolu pomoraca je značajno.The aim of this paper is to determine, based on the literature, what are the new epidemiological risks on cruisers and ships and what is their impact on seafarers and passengers. Due to the very nature of their work, seafarers visit many ports in different parts of the world, and are therefore exposed to many infectious diseases. Chronic non-communicable diseases, accidents and malignant diseases have recently become the most important causes of death and illness among seafarers. The COVIC-19 pandemic has spread to numerous cruise ships, and the nature of such ships is overcrowded semi-enclosed areas, increased exposure to the new environment and limited medical resources, which contributes to increased risk and faster spread of disease. Until the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic, infectious diseases lost their intensity, but their participation in the morbidity of seafarers is significant
Analyse of cargo operation on LPG tankers
Porast potražnje za čišćim izvorima energije dovodi do povećane potražnje za ukapljenim naftnim plinom (engl. Liquified petroleum gas-LPG). Naftni plin spada u skupinu ugljikovodika i predstavlja dostatnu zamjenu uobičajenim energentima uz manje zagađivanje okoliša. Razvoj tržišta ukapljenih naftnih plinova dovelo je do razvoja posebnih LPG tankera. Zbog opasnosti prijevoza ove vrste tereta LPG tankeri moraju zadovoljavati određena pravila izgradnje koja su navedena u Međunarodnom kodeksu o Izgradnji i Opremljivanju Brodova koji prevoze Ukapljene plinove (engl. International Code of the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liqueified Gases in Bulk- IGC Code). Najopasnije operacije na ovim brodovima su operacije rukovanja teretom. U ovome radu se opisuju procedure ukrcaja, prijevoza i iskrcaja tereta. Prije ukrcaja tereta, teretni spremnici se pripremaju, ukoliko je potrebno inertiranjem, uplinjavanjem, hlađenjem. Tokom prijevoza tereta zbog porasta temperature unutar spremnika dolazi do isparavanja tereta (engl. Boil off gas- BOG) i povećanja tlaka u tankovima. Zbog toga je potrebno ispareni teret kondenzirati u postrojenju za ponovno ukapljivanje i vratiti u spremnike. Nakon iskrcaja tereta moguće je da se spremnici trebaju pripremiti za sljedeći teret ili za dokovanje odnosno inspekciju tanka. Za članove posade od velike je važnosti poznavati pravilne procedure pri teretnim operacijama kao i u slučaju opasnosti.An increase in the demand for cleaner energy resources has led to higher demand for liquefied petroleum gas. Petroleum gases are hydrocarbons, and they offer an alternative to common fossil fuels with lower impact on the environment. Development in liquefied petroleum gas market has led to the development of specialized LPG tankers. Because of the dangers that transport of these cargoes creates, LPG tankers have to follow certain rules that are stated in the International Code of the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk- IGC Code. One of the most dangerous operations on these ships are cargo operations. In this paper, procedures of loading, transport and unloading the cargo are described. Prior to loading the cargo, cargo tanks may have to be prepared, involving inerting, gassing up, and cooling down operations. During sea transport, due to the rise in the temperatures inside the cargo tanks, the formation of boil-off gas is present. Boil-off gas has to be condensed and returned to the cargo tanks, using the reliquefication plant. After the discharge of the cargo, cargo tanks have to be prepared for the next cargo or for the docking procedures. For the crew of the vessel, it is of great importance to know the right procedures for cargo operations and procedures in case of an emergency
Drydock
Ishod automatizacije brodova je sve veća posvećenost održavanju brodova. Iako postoje različiti načini održavanja za različite vrste brodova, dokovanje je zajedničko svim brodovima. U ovom radu su istražene sve radnje i aktivnosti koje se izvršavaju prije i tijekom procesa dokovanja. Zbog što veće transparentnosti, srodne radnje su podijeljene u skupine te je se svaka pojedinačno detaljno opisana. Isto tako, prikazane su sve vrste dokova te oprema potrebna da bi se brod uspješno dokovao. Također, provedeni su i određeni izračuni potkrijepljeni pripadajućim formulama koji donose prikaz stabilnosti broda u doku, odnosno samog procesa dokovanja koji je iznimno važan za sigurnost dokovanja.The outcome of ship automation is an increasing commitment to ship maintenance. Although there are different ways of maintenance for different types of ships, dry dock is common to all ships. In this paper all actions and activities that are performed before and during the docking process were investigated. Due to greater transparency, related actions were divided into groups, and each was individually described in detail. Also, all types of dry docks and necessary equipment for successful docking were shown. As an example, calculations of a certain ship’s stability in the dock were performed using corresponding formulas that show the importance of stability of the ship in the dock and respectively the docking itself
The design of liquefied natural gas carriers
Brodovi za prijevoz ukapljenog prirodnog plina imaju velik broj specifičnih podsustava i karakteristike koje ih značajno razlikuju od ostalih vrsta brodova. Moderni brodovi za prijevoz ukapljenog prirodnog plina su tankeri sa dvostrukim dnom čija se klasifikacija vrši prema tipu tankova. Da bi mogli ploviti, moraju zadovoljiti sva pravila koja uključuju važne zahtjeve vezane za izgradnju, a koja su definirana pravno obvezujućim konvencijama. Sadržajem ovog rada pokušava se obuhvatiti sve ono najbitnije vezano za dizajn brodova za prijevoz ukapljenog prirodnog plina: specifičnosti i svojstva tereta koji se prevozi, različite izvedbe tankova i materijali koji se koriste u industriji gradnje ovih brodova. Detaljno se opisuje teretna, sigurnosna i protupožarna oprema, kao i različite izvedbe pogonskih sustava koje susrećemo na ovim brodovima.LNG vessels have a large number of specific subsystems and characteristics that significantly differentiate them from other types of ships. Modern ships for the transport of liquefied natural gas are double-bottomed tankers, which are classified according to the type of tank. In order to be able to sail, they must meet all the rules that include important construction requirements that are defined by legally binding conventions. Contents of below presented final thesis summarize, as much as possible, everything important related to the design of ships for the transport of liquefied natural gas: specifics and properties of the cargo being transported, different tank designs and materials used for the construction of these vessels. Cargo, safety and fire-fighting equipment is described in detail, as well as the various versions of the propulsion systems we encounter on these ships
Means of transport and trashtranshipment in ports
U radu se daje prikaz prijevozno – prekrcajnih sredstava u lukama, koji su u potpunosti olakšali rukovanje, prijevoz i prekrcaj svih vrsta tereta u pomorskom prometu. Rad obuhvaća sve vrste prijevozno-prekrcajnih sredstava u lučkim terminalima od ručnih sredstava do onih koji koriste motorni ili električni pogon. Važan dio sustava je obrazovanje lučkih radnika i ispravno rukovanje mehanizacijom, uz poštivanje sigurnosnih i tehnoloških normi i zakonitosti, radi poboljšanja brzine, učinkovitosti i sigurnosti samog prijevozno – prekrcajnog djelovanja.This final thesis provides overview of means of transport and transshipment in ports, which have completely facilitated the handling, transport and transshipments of all types of cargo in maritime transport. The final thesis covers all types of transport and transhipment means in port terminals, from manual means to those that use motor or electric drive. An important part of the system is the education of port workers and the proper handling of machinery, in compliance with safety and technological norms and laws, in order to improve the speed, efficiency and safety of the transport - transshipment operation
International and national legal framwork for the carriage of passengers and laggage by sea
U ovom radu obrađuje se međunarodni i nacionalni pravni okvir prijevoza putnika i prtljage morem. Međunarodno reguliranje prijevoza putnika morem započelo je donošenjem Međunarodne konvencije za izjednačenje nekih pravila o prijevozu putnika morem 1961. godine. Danas je na snazi Atenska konvencija iz 2002. godine kojom su povećana prava putnika te je uravnotežen odnos između odgovornosti i isključenja od odgovornosti prijevoznika. U Republici Hrvatskoj prijevoz putnika i prtljage morem reguliran je Pomorskim zakonikom po uzoru na Atensku konvenciju iz 2002. godine te Uredbu (EZ) br. 392/2009 Europskog parlamenta i vijeća od 23. travnja 2009. o odgovornosti prijevoznika u prijevozu putnika morem u slučaju nesreće. U radu se analiziraju različiti pravni odnosi kod prijevoza putnika i prtljage morem s naglaskom na rješenja međunarodnih konvencija i Pomorskog zakonika.This paper deals with the international and national legal framework for the transport of passengers and luggage by sea. International regulation of passenger transport by sea began the adoption of the International Convention for the Unification of Certain Rules for the Carriage of Passengers by Sea in 1961. The Athens Convention of 2002 is in force today, increasing passenger rights and balancing the relationship between liability and carrier exclusion. In the Republic of Croatia, the transport of passengers and luggage by sea is regulated by the Maritime Code, modeled on the Athens Convention of 2002 and Regulation (EC) no. 392/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the liability of carriers for the carriage of passengers by sea in the event of an accidents. This paper analyzes the different legal relations in the transport of passengers and luggage by sea, with emphasis on the solutions of international conventions and Maritime Code
Life - threatening situations on board and first aid
U završnom radu su opisane životno ugrožavajuće situacije koje zahtijevaju postupke prve pomoći i objašnjeno je na koji način se pruža prva pomoć u tim situacijama. Također su objašnjena zaduženja u svezi primjene postupaka prve pomoći na brodovima. Prema međunarodnim konvencijama, svi članovi brodske posade moraju biti osposobljeni za pružanje prve pomoći.The final paper describes life-threatening situations that require first aid procedures and explains how first aid is provided in these situations. It also explains the responsibilities related to the application of first aid procedures at ships. According to international conventions, all members of the ship's crew must be trained to provide first aid

Launcking and Recovery systems of lifeboats
Sredstva za spašavanje namijenjena su za zaštitu ljudskih života na moru. Kako bi ispunila svoju namjenu ta sredstva i uređaji za rukovanje sredstvima za spašavanje moraju biti izrađeni u skladu s Međunarodnom konvencijom o zaštiti ljudskog života na moru (eng. Safety of Life at Sea – SOLAS) i Međunarodnim pravilnikom o sredstvima za spašavanje (eng. Life-Saving Appliances Code – LSA). Ova dva dokumenta definiraju sve potrebne operativne i tehničke zahtjeve sredstava za spašavanje i uređaja za rukovanje tim sredstvima. U radu se analiziraju osnovne tehničke značajke, konstrukcijske izvedbe i načini korištenja gravitacijskih soha, brodskih dizalica i uređaja za spuštanje brodica slobodnim padom. Zaključuje se kako je za rukovanje sredstvima za spašavanje potrebno odgovarajuće održavanje uređaja, potpuno poznavanje i dosljedno pridržavanje propisanih procedura.Life-saving appliances are intended to protect human lives at sea. In order to fulfill their purpose life-saving appliances and handling devices must be made in accordance with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and the Life-saving Appliances Code (LSA). These two documents define all the necessary operational and technical requirements for life-saving appliances and handling devices. The paper analyzes the basic technical features, construction designs and methods of using gravity davits, ship cranes and free-fall systems. It is concluded that the appropriate handling of life-saving equipment requires proper maintenance of the devices, full knowledge and consistent adherence to prescribed procedures
