    Analysis of integration of ergonomic practices among seafarers

    Ergonomija kao relativno novi pojam u radnom okruženju zadobiva sve veći značaj, a njezina implementacija nužna je u pomorskoj industriji koja podrazumijeva visoku razinu fizičke i psihičke zahtjevnosti poslova. Shodno navedenome, nužan je dizajn brodova, odnosno radnog okruženja koji će biti u skladu s ergonomskim načelima. Time se prvenstveno i bavi ovaj rad. Cilj rada je prikazati na koji je način ergonomija prisutna u pomorskoj praksi i to najprije prikazom studije slučaja provedenog od strane tvrtke COTECMAR, 2008. godine. Potom se daje prikaz istraživanja provedenog o ergonomskoj praksi kod aktivnih pomoraca na uzorku od ukupno 45 ispitanika. Rezultati daju uvid u postojeću ergonomsku praksu u pomorskoj industriji te na njima počivaju preporuke za daljnja unaprjeđenja kada se govori o implementaciji ergonomije u pomorstvu.Ergonomics, as a relatively new concept in the working environment, is gaining more importance, and its implementation is necessary in the maritime industry, which implies a high level of physical and psychological demands of work. Accordingly, it is necessary to design the ships which are the working environment, and which will be in accordance with ergonomic principles. This work is primarily concerned with the ergonomics. The aim of the work is to show how ergonomics is present in maritime practice, first by presenting a case study conducted by the company COTECMAR in 2008. Then there is the research on ergonomic practice among active seafarers, presented on a sample of a total of 45 respondents. The results give an insight into the existing ergonomic practice in the maritime industry and recommendations for further improvements that are based on them, especially when it comes to the implementation of ergonomics in the maritime industry

    Ovaj diplomski rad istražuje metodologiju izvještavanja s broda na primjeru zadržavanja broda od strane nadzora države luke zbog nedostataka utvrđenih inspekcijskim pregledom. PSC, kao ključna institucija u nadzoru pomorskog prometa, igra vitalnu ulogu u osiguranju sigurnosti plovidbe i zaštite okoliša. Kroz analizu povijesti, pravnih regulativa i prakse PSC-a, identificirani su ključni aspekti metodologije izvještavanja s broda. Nadalje, kroz analizu primjera zabrane isplovljenja brodova i njihovih izvještaja, istražena je važnost sustavnog i detaljnog izvještavanja kako bi se adekvatno dokumentirali nedostaci i omogućila brza intervencija nadležnih tijela. Sažetak metodologije izvještavanja uključuje jasne smjernice, standardizirane postupke i pravovremeno prijavljivanje nedostataka radi sprječavanja potencijalnih nesreća na moru. Kroz sustavno unaprjeđivanje metodologije izvještavanja, moguće je poboljšati učinkovitost PSC-a i minimizirati negativne utjecaje zabrane isplovljenja brodova na pomorsku industriju. Ovaj rad doprinosi boljem razumijevanju procesa izvještavanja s broda i potiče daljnja istraživanja u području pomorske sigurnosti i zaštite okoliša.This thesis explores the methodology of ship reporting based on the example of vessel detentions by Port State Control due to identified deficiencies. PSC, as a crucial institution in maritime traffic surveillance, plays a vital role in ensuring navigation safety and environmental protection. Through the analysis of history, legal regulations, and PSC practices, key aspects of ship reporting methodology have been identified. Furthermore, through the analysis of detained vessel cases and their reports, the importance of systematic and detailed reporting has been investigated to adequately document deficiencies and enable prompt intervention by competent authorities. The summary of reporting methodology includes clear guidelines, standardized procedures, and timely reporting of deficiencies to prevent potential maritime accidents. Through systematic improvement of reporting methodology, it is possible to enhance the effectiveness of PSC and minimize the negative impacts of vessel detentions on the maritime industry. This thesis contributes to a better understanding of ship reporting processes and encourages further research in the field of maritime safety and environmental protectio

    Spašavanje podrtine jedrenjaka „Vasa“ bio je složen zadatak. Taj poduhvat se sastojao od niza radnji počevši od, podizanja s morskog dna, premještanja, izvlačenja, ispiranja, kemijskog tretiranja i trajnog očuvanja. Cilj rada je analiza spašavanja jedrenjaka „Vasa“ s kritičkim osvrtom na moguća poboljšanja s gledišta suvremenog spašavanja. U radu je opisana povijest broda. Istražen je utjecaj i nasljeđe uspješno provedene akcije spašavanja na moguća buduća slična spašavanja. S obzirom na provedenu analizu i istraživanja u radu može se zaključiti kako je „Vasa“ mogući pionir u akcijama spašavanja koja je dala temelje budućim izvlačenjima podrtina iz mora. Ovo relativno skupo izvlačenje podrtine je za švedsko pomorstvo bilo od velike važnosti, ali i za svjetsko pomorstvo jer se daje značaj na važnost projekta i konstrukcije broda kao i njegovog iskorištavanja te utjecaj ljudskog faktora.The salvage of the wreckage of the sailing ship „Vasa“ was a complex task. This endeavor consisted of a series of actions starting from raising it from the seabed, relocating, extracting, rinsing, chemically treating, and permanently preserving it. The aim of the work is to analyze the rescue of the sailing ship „Vasa“ with a critical review of possible improvements from the perspective of modern salvage. The history of the ship is described in the paper. The impact and legacy of the successfully executed salvage operation on possible future similar rescues are explored. Considering the analysis and research conducted in the paper, it can be concluded that „Vasa“ was a possible pioneer in salvage operations that laid the groundwork for future wreck extractions from the sea. This relatively expensive salvage of the wreckage was of great importance for the Swedish navy, but also for global maritime affairs, emphasizing the significance of the project and ship construction, as well as its utilization and the influence of human factors

    Maritime traffic is an important part of global trade and requires advanced monitoring systems to ensure safety and efficiency. Traditional monitoring systems such as Automatic Identification System (AIS) and radar systems, while important, are limited in tracking small and non-AIS equipped vessels, especially in complex areas. This thesis addresses these shortcomings by integrating video surveillance with advanced computer vision techniques, focusing on a case study in the Port of Split, Croatia. Using high-resolution video camera and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), a real-time maritime traffic counting system has been developed that improves detection capabilities beyond conventional methods. A new and diverse image dataset was created to train and evaluate CNN models for applications in the Mediterranean maritime zone. An evaluation of the counting system shows that it detects 386% more maritime traffic than AIS, with an accuracy of 98.23%. Furthermore, a novel approach using a monocular camera and the pinhole camera model is presented for distance estimation in maritime applications. By incorporating this distance estimation into the system, more accurate distance estimates are achieved, allowing the system to provide more valuable and precise data on vessel positions and movements. The enhanced detection and monitoring capabilities provided by this system highlight the effectiveness of integrating video surveillance with advanced computer vision techniques in complex maritime environments.Rad ne sadrži sažetak na drugom jeziku

    U ovom radu analizira se ugovor o pomorskoj agenciji u praksi. Ugovorom o pomorskoj agenciji pomorski agent se obvezuje, na temelju opće ili posebne punomoći, u ime i za račun nalogodavca, obavljati pomorske agencijske poslove te poslove pomaganja, posredovanja i zastupanja, a nalogodavac se obvezuje pomorskom agentu nadoknaditi troškove i platiti nagradu. Međunarodna federacija nacionalnih udruženja pomorskih agenata (FONASBA) objavila je četiri standardna ugovora o pomorskoj agenciji, koji se najviše upotrebljavaju u praksi. U radu se detaljno obrađuje sadržaj svakog od FONASBA-inih ugovora o pomorskoj agenciji te se analizira doseg njihovih odredbi u praksi.This paper analyzes the maritime agency contract in practice. With the maritime agency contract, the maritime agent undertakes, on the basis of a general or special power of attorney, in the name and for the account of the principal, to perform maritime agency work and assistance, mediation and representation, and the principal undertakes to compensate the maritime agent for costs and to pay a reward. The Federation of National Associations of Maritime Brokers and Agents (FONASBA) has published four standard maritime agency contracts, which are most commonly used in practice. The paper deals in detail with the content of each of FONASBA's four maritime agency contracts and analyzes the reach of their provisions in practice

    Klasifikacijska društva su osnovana zbog sigurnosti broda, svih koji su na brodu, tereta, ostalih sudionika na moru, kao i zbog sprječavanja onečišćenja okoliša s broda. Važnost udruživanja vodećih klasifikacijskih društava je već 1969., samo godinu dana nakon postojanja, prepoznato kao vrlo važan doprinos pomorskoj industriji te je udruga dobila savjetodavni status u Međunarodnoj pomorskoj organizaciji. Tehničkim i inspekcijskim nadzorima se pregledava udovoljava li brod pravilima i normama za određenu namjenu i određeno područje plovidbe. Nakon pregleda klasifikacijsko društvo ili RO, ovisno o rezultatima, odlučuje hoće li dodijeliti/produljiti klasu brodu ili izdati/ovjeriti brodske isprave i knjige za daljnju plovidbu. Međunarodna udruga klasifikacijskih društava blisko surađuje s međunarodnim pomorskim organizacijama, regionalnim sporazumima i ostalim interesnim pomorskim udruženjima. Regionalni sporazumi su jako učinkoviti jer ne dolazi do duplih pregledavanja, kao ni do namjernog ni slučajnog izbjegavanja kontroliranja pojedinih brodova. Svi pregledi, kao i rezultati inspekcija, su javno dostupni za pretraživanje i razmjenu informacija prikupljenih sa brodova u bilo kojem trenutku uz pomoć online baza podataka. Djelovanje Međunarodne udruge klasifikacijskih društava, u suradnji sa IMO-om i regionalnim sporazumima, bilježi značajne doprinose u vidu sigurnosti plovidbe, što se vidi po smanjenom broju pomorskih nesreća, a posebno onih sa tragičnim ishodima.Classification societies are established for the safety of the ship, everyone on board, cargo, other participants at sea, as well as for preventing pollution from the ship. The importance of the association of leading classsification societies was recognized in 1969, just a year after its establishment, as a very important contribution to the maritime industry, and the association received advisory status in the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Ship surveys examine whether the ship complies with the rules and standards for a specific purpose and area of navigation. After the survey, the classification society or RO, depending on results, decides whether to assign/extend certificate of class or issue/certify ship documents and books for further navigation. IACS closely cooperates with intenational maritime organizations, MoU's and other maritime associations of interest. MoU's are very successful because there are no double inspections and there are no intentional or accidental avoidance control of individual ships. All surveys, as well as inspection results, are publicly available for searching and exchanging information collected from ships at any time using online databases. The activities of IACS, in cooperation with the IMO and MoU’s, record significant contributions in navigation safety and is reflected in reduced number of maritime accidents, especially those with tragic outcomes

    Ovaj rad prikazuje načela rada Cockcroft-Waltonovog generatora i uzlaznog istosmjernog pretvarača, analizirajući njihove matematičke modele i industrijske primjene. Cockcroft-Waltonov generator koristi se za visokonaponske primjene poput akceleratora čestica i rendgenskih uređaja, dok uzlazni istosmjerni pretvarač omogućava povećanje istosmjernog napona u električnim vozilima, solarnim sustavima i prijenosnim uređajima. Detaljna usporedba ističe fleksibilnost uzlaznog pretvarača i njegove prednosti u suvremenim sustavima. Zaključeno je da iako oba uređaja imaju svoje specifične primjene, uzlazni pretvarač ima širu industrijsku primjenu zbog veće efikasnosti i prilagodljivosti.This final thesis presents the working principles of the Cockcroft-Walton generator and the boost converter, analyzing their mathematical models and industrial applications. The Cockcroft-Walton generator to applied in high-voltage devices such as particle accelerators and X-ray machines. At the same time, the boost converter is used to increase DC voltage in electric vehicles, solar systems, and portable devices. A detailed comparison highlights the flexibility of the boost converter, showcasing its advantages in modern systems. The analysis concludes that although both devices serve specific purposes, the boost converter has a broader industrial application due to its higher efficiency and adaptability

    Ovaj završni rad razmotrit će i definirati stratešku procjenu utjecaja na okoliš u Hrvatskoj i Španjolskoj. Procjena utjecaja na okoliš na strateškom nivou je postala važan i nezamjenjiv postupak u suvremenoj praksi. Iz razloga što čovjek često zbog opravdanih potreba provodi promjene prirodnih ekosustava, ključno je uvesti kontrolu nad korištenjem ovih resursa. Glavi cilj strateške procjene je ostvariti što veću zaštitu okoliša i prirodnih ljepota kojom Hrvatska, pa tako i Španjolska obiluju. Sam postupak sastoji se od nekoliko koraka koji vrednuju utjecaje različitih čimbenika plana ili programa na okoliš. Javnost također ima mogućnost sudjelovati u tom postupku iskazujući svoja mišljenja i prijedloge, pogotovo javnost i ljudi na koje će određeni plan ili program izravno utjecati.This final paper examines and defines a strategic environmental impact assessment in Croatia and Spain. Environmental impact assessment at the strategic level has become an important and irreplaceable procedure in modern practice. Since humans often modify natural ecosystems for legitimate reasons, it is crucial to establish control over the use of these resources. The main goal of the strategic assessment is to maximize the protection of the environment and natural beauty that Croatia and Spain have to offer. The process itself consists of several steps in which the impact of the various factors of the plan or program on the environment are assessed. The public also has the opportunity to participate in this process by expressing their opinions and changes, especially the public and people directly affected by a particular plan or program

    Razvoj tehnologije kroz povijest i pomorske navigacije doveo je do pojave autopilota koji značajno unaprijeđuje pomorsku navigaciju i u velikoj mjeri smanjuje potrebu za ručnim kormilarenjem. Kroz rad je prikazan povijesni razvoj autopilota, od njegovih početaka do naprednog autopilot sustava koji se danas koristi. Kroz detaljnu analizu, rad pruža temelj za razumijevanje na kojem principu djeluje sustav autopilota i o kojim sve parametrima i uređajima ovisi da bi isti uspješno funkcionirao. Posebno je naglašena važnost poznavanja rada sustava od strane navigacijskih časnika iz razloga što je cijeli sustav vrlo složen i izazovan te zahtijeva neprestano održavanje i kontrolu. Nedovoljno poznavanje sustava autopilota i nepažnja prilikom korištenja, dovodi do potencijalno velikih opasnosti na moru i sudara brodova.The development of technology throughout history and maritime navigation has led to the appearance of the autopilot, which significantly improves maritime navigation and greatly reduces the need for manual steering. The paper presents the historical development of the autopilot, from its beginnings to the advanced autopilot system used today. Through a detailed analysis, the paper provides a basis for understanding the principle on which the autopilot system works and on which parameters and devices it depends for it to function successfully. The importance of knowledge of the operation of the system by the navigation officers was especially emphasized because the entire system is very complex and challenging and requires constant maintenance and control. Insufficient knowledge of the autopilot system and carelessness when using it, leads to potentially great dangers at sea and ship collisions

    Tržište morskoga brodarstva vrlo je konkurentno, a brodari se natječu cjenovno, brzinom isporuke, pouzdanošću te sigurnošću. Pomorska industrija podložna je raznim međunarodnim te nacionalnim propisima i regulativama koje se odnose na sigurnost, zaštitu životne sredine, radne uvjete ali i druge aspekte poslovanja. To nužno znači i troškove koji su neophodni za poslovanje kompanije, dok je brodarima cilj što manji ali i kvalitetnije raspoređeni trošak radi konkurentske prednosti. Analiziraju se različite kategorije troškova u brodarstvu, kao što su kapitalni i operativni troškovi te se istražuje kako različiti čimbenici utječu na visinu istih. Rad analizira strukturu troškova brodarske kompanije i strategije upravljanja troškovima koje iste primjenjuju kako bi optimizirale svoje operacije i ostvarile konkurentske prednosti.The maritime shipping market is highly competitive, with shipping companies competing on prices, delivery speed, reliability, and safety. The maritime industry is subject to various international and national regulations and regulations related to safety, environmental protection, working conditions, and other aspects of business. This necessarily implies costs that are essential for the company's operations, and the goal of shipping companies is to minimize costs and allocate them efficiently for a competitive advantage. Various cost categories in shipping are analyzed, such as capital costs and operating costs, and how different factors affect their magnitude. The paper analyzes the cost structure of a shipping company and cost management strategies they employ to optimize their operations and gain a competitive advantage
