Pierwsza część tytułu nawiązuje do nazwy projektu partnerstw akademickich Uniwersytetu Śląskiego z uczelniami chińskimi. Co najmniej kilka uniwersytetów w Chinach można nazwać partnerami strategicznymi naszej uczelni – są to uniwersytety w Pekinie, Shenyangu, Chongqingu, choć każdy z nich z nieco innych powodów, w nieco innej perspektywie. Nasza współpraca z nimi niczym kalejdoskop składa się z wielobarwnych, różnokształtnych elementów, które jednak idealnie do siebie pasują i żadne poruszenie czy obrót nie psuje kompozycji, kolorowe szkiełka natychmiast układają się w nowej konfiguracji. Rachunek strat : postaci mężczyzn w powieściach Grahama Swifta : ujęcie psychoanalityczne
Graham Swift nie jest kojarzony z krytyką psychoanalityczną, a zwłaszcza Lacanowską. Pisarz otwarcie odcina się zresztą od wszelkich „rewolucji i kontrrewolucji w teorii krytycznej.” Najsilniejszy bodaj nurt w krytyce dotyczącej tego autora odnosi się do zagadnień historiografii; powstało również wiele tekstów rozpatrujących jego twórczość z perspektywy studiów nad męskością.
Nie oznacza to bynajmniej, że nie pojawiają się próby zastosowania krytyki psychoanalitycznej do prozy Swifta, i choć są to przypadki pojedyncze, dowodzą ponad wszelką wątpliwość, że potencjał takiego podejścia istnieje. Niniejsza praca stawia sobie za cel analizę przekrojowego wyboru powieści Swifta przy pomocy Lacanowskiego pojęcia neurozy obsesyjnej. Z pewnymi zasadniczymi zastrzeżeniami zostaje w niej postawiona teza, że podejście głosów mówiących w powieściach Swifta coraz wyraźniej odchodzi od wizji kompletnego dyskursu, nad którym narrator całkowicie panuje, a tym samym od neurotycznego projektu podmiotu pozbawionego braku.
Dysertację otwiera krótkie wprowadzenie do teorii funkcjonowania podmiotu mówiącego stworzonej przez Jacques'a Lacana, a szczególnie do jego koncepcji neurozy obsesyjnej. Wskazano również na cechy prozy Swifta, które pozwalają zakładać możliwość odnalezienia odzwierciedleń tej struktury w jego tekstach.
Pierwszy rozdział rozprawy omawia dwie pierwsze powieści Swifta jako przejawiające najsilniej zarysowane cechy struktury obsesyjnej. W drugim rozdziale rozpatrywana jest stopniowa modyfikacja podejścia pisarza do tworzonych narratorów, którą da się odczytać jako odejście od wcześniej wskazanego modelu. Zagadnienia pewności, kontroli nad językiem, czy rywalizacji z idealizowaną figurą ojca pozostają jednak w centrum uwagi autora. Trzeci, ostatni rozdział zajmuje się jedną z najnowszych powieści Swifta, znacznie odbiegającą pod względem formalnym od poprzednich. Motywy stale powracające w jego utworach również są tu potraktowane w nowy sposób. Skutki tej ewolucji, można powiedzieć, są paradoksalne: podczas gdy narratorzy i protagoniści prozy Swifta w coraz mniejszym stopniu przejawiają skłonność do wiary w możliwość funkcjonowania bez straty, fakt, że sam autor coraz intensywniej i coraz bardziej wprost postuluje konieczność zaakceptowania wieloznaczności sam w sobie może budzić skojarzenia ze strukturą obsesyjną
Differential scanning calorimetry reveals that whole‑body cryostimulation in cross‑country skiers can modify their response to physical effort
In sport medicine, cryostimulation is used to help athletes to better support the training workload, to prevent the deleterious
effects of strenuous exercise and to improve recovery. In this study, eight elite cross-country skiers had two experimental
exercise sessions differing in that the second one was carried out after a series of 10 whole-body cryostimulation (WBC)
treatments. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was applied to compare changes in athlete’s blood serum during both
sessions. Mean DSC curves of serum collected in four stages of the training session: before exercise, after exercise, at 1 h
recovery and after 24 h of rest have shown a similar nature of post-exercise changes and recovery regardless of the WBC.
Statistically significant effect of the exercise, reflected in some parameters of serum denaturation transition, has been found.

Pressure and temperature dependence of local structure and dynamics in an ionic liquid
A detailed understanding of the local dynamics in ionic liquids remains an important aspect in the design of new ionic liquids as advanced functional fluids. Here, we use small-angle X-ray scattering and quasi-elastic neutron spectroscopy to investigate the local structure and dynamics in a model ionic liquid as a function of temperature and pressure, with a particular focus on state points (P,T) where the macroscopic dynamics, i.e., conductivity, is the same. Our results suggest that the initial step of ion transport is a confined diffusion process, on the nanosecond timescale, where the motion is restricted by a cage of nearest neighbors. This process is invariant considering timescale, geometry, and the participation ratio, at state points of constant conductivity, i.e., state
points of isoconductivity. The connection to the nearest-neighbor structure is underlined by the invariance of the peak in the structure factor corresponding to nearest-neighbor correlations. At shorter timescales, picoseconds, two localized relaxation processes of the cation can be observed, which are not directly linked to ion transport. However, these processes also show invariance at isoconductivity. This points to that the overall energy landscape in ionic liquids responds in the same way to density changes and is mainly governed by the nearest-neighbor interactions
Myxoma virus expressing LIGHT (TNFSF14) pre-loaded into adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells is effective treatment for murine pancreatic adenocarcinoma
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a weakly immunogenic fatal neoplasm. Oncolytic viruses with dual anti-cancer properties—oncolytic and immune response-boosting effects—have great potential for PDAC management. Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) of mesenchymal origin were infected ex vivo with recombinant myxoma virus (MYXV), which encodes murine LIGHT, also called tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 14 (TNFSF14). The viability and proliferation of ADSCs were not remarkably decreased (1–2 days) following MYXV infection, in sharp contrast to cells of pancreatic carcinoma lines studied, which were rapidly killed by the infection. Comparison of the intraperitoneal (IP) vs. the intravenous (IV) route of ADSC/MYXV administration revealed more pancreas-targeted distribution of the virus when ADSCs were delivered IP to mice bearing orthotopically injected PDAC. The biodistribution, tumor burden reduction and anti-tumor adaptive immune response were examined. Bioluminescence data, used to assess the presence of the luciferase-tagged virus after IP injection, indicated enhanced trafficking into the pancreata of mice bearing orthotopically-induced PDAC, as compared to tumor-free animals, resulting in extended survival of the treated PDAC-seeded animals and in the boosted expression of key adaptive immune response markers. We conclude that ADSCs pre-loaded with transgene-armed MYXV and administered IP allow for the effective ferrying of the oncolytic virus to sites of PDAC and mediate improved tumor regression
[Methylhydrazinium]2PbBr4, a ferroelectric hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite with multiple nonlinear optical outputs
An expansive library of structurally complex two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) lead halide perov-skites has emerged over the past decade, finding applications in various aspects of photon management: photovoltaics, photo-detection, light emission, and nonlinear optics. Needless to say, the highest degree of structural plasticity enjoys the former group, offering a rich playground for modifications of relevant optoelec-tronic parameters such as exciton energy. Structural tailorability is reflected in the ease of modification of the chemistry of the organic layers residing between inorganic slabs. In this vein, we show that the introduction of methylhydrazinium cation (MHy+, CH3NH2NH2+) into 2D perovskite gives a material with a record low separation of the inorganic layers (8.91 Å at 300 K). Optical studies showed that MHy2PbBr4 features the most red-shifted excitonic absorption among all known A2PbBr4 compounds as well as a small exciton binding energy of 99.9 meV. MHy2PbBr4 crystallizes in polar Pmn21 symmetry at room emperature (phase III) and at 351 K undergoes a phase transition to modulated Pmnm phase (II) followed by another phase transition at 371 K to Pmnm phase (I). The ferroelectric property of room-temperature phase III is inferred from switching of the pyrocurrent, dielectric measurements, and optical birefringence results. MHy2PbBr4 exhibits multiple nonlinear optical phenomena such as second-harmonic generation, third-harmonic generation, two-photon excited luminescence, and multiphoton excited luminescence. Analysis of MHy2PbBr4 single-crystal luminescence spectra obtained through linear and nonlinear optical excitation pathways indicates that free exciton emission is readily probed by the ultraviolet excitation, whereas crumpled exciton emission is detected under two- and multiphoton excitation conditions. Overall, our results demonstrate that incorporation of MHy+ into the organic layer is an emergent strategy for obtaining a 2D perovskite with polar character and multifunctional properties
Minsk Regional Parliaments (Sejmiks) in the Years 1778-1786 – Between Domestic Problems and External World
The text presents the course of the Minsk sejmiks, discusses the parliamentary elec-tions and the content of the parliamentary instructions. On this basis, the att itude of the Minsk nobility to the most important problems of that period, affl icting the Republic as the common state and the common homeland was analyzed. The analyses show there were no stormy parliamentary elections: the election process was rather calm, with no signs of disputes by drawing up parliamentary instructions. In general, they did not arouse controversy, did not refer to ideological or national issues but touched upon the everyday problems of the voivodeship and therefore they were usually accepted. The content of the instructions went beyond the borders of the Minsk voivodeship, but the impassable border was Lithuania and the issues or troubles of its citizens, usually those with the highest status. A pragmatic approach to life and everyday reality prevails in the decisions of the parliamentary assemblies in the analysed period. Ideologically, they cer-tainly did not cement the Republic. Thinking that a member of parliament represents the place from which he was elected and not the Polish-Lithuanian state, at least symbolically dominated in Minsk until 1788
Antibacterial Optimization of Highly Deformed Titanium Alloys for Spinal Implants
The goal of the work was to develop materials dedicated to spine surgery that minimized
the potential for infection originating from the transfer of bacteria during long surgeries. The bacteria
form biofilms, causing implant loosening, pain and finally, a risk of paralysis for patients. Our
strategy focused both on improvement of antibacterial properties against bacteria adhesion and on
wear and corrosion resistance of tools for spine surgery. Further, a ~35% decrease in implant and
tool dimensions was expected by introducing ultrahigh-strength titanium alloys for less-invasive
surgeries. The tested materials, in the form of thin, multi-layered coatings, showed nanocrystalline
microstructures. Performed direct-cytotoxicity studies (including lactate dehydrogenase activity
measurement) showed that there was a low probability of adverse effects on surrounding SAOS-2
(Homo sapiens bone osteosarcoma) cells. The microbiological studies (e.g., ISO 22196 contact tests)
showed that implanting Ag nanoparticles into Ti/TixN coatings inhibited the growth of E. coli
and S. aureus cells and reduced their adhesion to the material surface. These findings suggest that
Ag-nanoparticles present in implant coatings may potentially minimize infection risk and lower
inherent stress
