Dodatki do paliw na bazie produktów acetalizacji polialkoholi na nanokatalitycznym Re domieszkowanym Os, Mo, Ru i Ir
Pełne teksty dołączonych do pracy publikacji autorki, wg załączonej listy na s. 7, dostępne są lokalnie w sieci bibliotek Uniwersytetu Śląskiego: http://www.bc.us.edu.pl/publication/25596The synthesis of acetals can be carried out in many ways, particularly from carbonyl compounds and (poly)alcohols, from vinyl ethers, in the reaction of phenols with allyl ethers or other reactions. Acetals are used as pharmaceuticals, fragrance additives for cosmetics, food and biofuels, especially biodiesel. The study aimed to develop new procedures for synthesizing cyclic acetals from alcohols and carbonyl compounds using nanocatalysts of Re doped with Os, Mo, Ru and Ir and test the obtained library of compounds as potential fuel additives according to the concept of green chemistry and environmental protection. The investigations optimized the Re/SiO₂ system as an economic catalyst for transforming polyols into acetals under mild solvent-free conditions. During the research, the basic physicochemical parameters of synthetic acetals were determined, such as density, viscosity, isentropic compressibility, isobaric thermal expansion, cetane number and other parameters typically used in the characteristics of fuel compositions
The role of the diffusion in the predictions of the classical nucleation theory for quasi‑real systems differ in dipole moment value
In this paper, we examine the crystallization tendency for two quasi-real systems, which differ
exclusively in the dipole moment’s value. The main advantage of the studied system is the fact
that despite that their structures are entirely identical, they exhibit different physical properties.
Hence, the results obtained for one of the proposed model systems cannot be scaled to reproduce
the results for another corresponding system, as it can be done for simple model systems, where
structural differences are modeled by the different parameters of the intermolecular interactions.
Our results show that both examined systems exhibit similar stability behavior below the melting
temperature. This finding is contrary to the predictions of the classical nucleation theory, which
suggests a significantly higher crystallization tendency for a more polar system. Our studies indicate
that the noted discrepancies are caused by the kinetic aspect of the classical nucleation theory, which
overestimates the role of diffusion in the nucleation process
Pandemia COVID-19 a zmiana modelu pracy. Polska na tle krajów Unii Europejskiej
The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on the dynamic increase
in the share of people performing their professional duties outside the place where it has been provided
so far. Millions of employees overnight change the traditional model of work, based on direct
contacts with colleagues, to work remotely, most often at home. On the basis of Eurostat research,
the change in the share of people working remotely in 2011–2020 was presented – comparing Poland
to other European Union countries. The article also attempts to show the differences in defining the
terms “telework” and “remote work”. The pandemic prompted the commencement of legislative
work aimed at legal validation of the term “remote work” in Polish legislation. The article presents
the currently consulted provisions relating to “remote work”, which are to be included in the Labor
Code. The text also shows the consequences, advantages and disadvantages of working remotely
Effect of photoanode structure and sensitization conditions on the photovoltaic response of dye-sensitized solar cells
This work summarises investigations focused on the photoanode impact on the photovoltaic response of dye-sensitized solar cells. This is a comparison of the results obtained by the authors’ research team with literature data. The studies concern the effect of the chemical structure of the applied dye, TiO2 nanostructure, co-adsorbents addition, and experimental conditions of the anode preparation. The oxide substrates were examined using a scanning electron microscope to determine the thickness and structure of the material. The TiO2 substrates with anchored dye molecules were also tested for absorption properties in the UV-Vis light range, largely translating into current density values. Photovoltaic parameters of the fabricated devices with sandwich structure were obtained from current-voltage measurements. During tests conducted with the N719 dye, it was found that devices containing an 8.4 µm thick oxide semiconductor layer had the highest efficiency (5.99%). At the same time, studies were carried out to determine the effect of the solvent and it was found that the best results were obtained using an ACN : tert-butanol mixture (5.46%). Next, phenothiazine derivatives (PTZ-1–PTZ-6) were used to prepare the devices; among the prepared solar cells, the devices containing PTZ-2 and PTZ-3 had the highest performance (6.21 and 6.22%, respectively). Two compounds designated as Th-1 and M-1 were used to prepare devices containing a dye mixture with N719
Stygmatyzacja przeniesiona wyzwaniem dla edukacji międzykulturowej
In the article, I describe sick people and people from their immediate
environment as Other. I present sociological concepts and research results regarding
courtesy stigma. I present an analysis of the narrative interview regarding
the mother’s experience of stigmatizing a sick child. Intercultural education is to
prepare for life in a diverse world, shape the understanding of difference, learn to
get rid of prejudices and stereotypes, therefore, in the end of my considerations,
I propose solutions to this pedagogical concept that can improve the well-being
of sick people and their relatives stigmatized by the environment

Despite all the efforts to emphasize the relevance of preventive measures, not everyone adhered to them. Thus, learning more about the characteristics determining attitudinal and behavioral responses to the pandemic is crucial to improving future interventions. In this study, we applied machine learning on the multi-national data collected by the International Collaboration on the Social and Moral Psychology of COVID-19 (N = 51,404) to test the predictive efficacy of constructs from social, moral, cognitive, and personality psychology, as well as socio-demographic factors, in the attitudinal and behavioral responses to the pandemic. The results point to several valuable insights. Internalized moral identity provided the most consistent predictive contribution—individuals perceiving moral traits as central to their self-concept reported higher adherence to preventive measures. Similar was found for morality as cooperation, symbolized moral identity, self-control, open-mindedness, collective narcissism, while the inverse relationship was evident for the endorsement of conspiracy theories. However, we also found a non-negligible variability in the explained variance and predictive contributions with respect to macro-level factors such as the pandemic stage or cultural region. Overall, the results underscore the importance of morality-related and contextual factors in understanding adherence to public health recommendations during the pandemic
The Impact of Brownfields on Residential Property Values in Post-Industrial Communities: A Study from the Eastern Part of the Czech Republic
Dilapidated, neglected, or abandoned sites and buildings (so-called brownfields) are
frequently neither visually attractive nor aesthetically valuable. Indeed, neglected brownfields
contribute to the emergence of both objective and subjective barriers to the social, economic, and environmental
development of communities. We also know that the occurrence of decayed brownfields
affect the prices of residential housing in their vicinity. In our paper, we seek to better understand the
impact of brownfields on the perceived value of neighbouring properties. We are also keen to shed
more light on the factors behind the allegedly undesirable impact of brownfields on property values.
Our research is based primarily on data obtained from a survey of 1,152 respondents in ten municipalities
situated at the eastern part of the Czech Republic, where neglected brownfields frequently occur.
The findings are complemented by an analysis of sales of residential properties located in proximity
to brownfield sites, to further confirm our preliminary survey results. The results confirmed that
neglected brownfields tend to negatively affect the value of neighbouring residential properties. Our
results also signal that the concentration of socially unacceptable behaviour is considered a key issue
for distorting property prices around brownfields. Our analyses have confirmed that distance from a
particular brownfield is one of the factors significantly influencing property prices. We claim that
neglected brownfields create negative externalities that require public sector interventions and better
planning. We urgently need more systematic support for brownfield regeneration to improve the
quality of life of residents in affected communities
Energia, praca i walka z entropią
This paper argues that what we commonly mean by “labour” in industrial democracies stems from the obsolete theoretical assumptions of neoclassical economics, which also serve as foundations for a highly entropic economic process. Therefore, to determine the new purposes and functions of what working means is necessary in order to redesign economy and, consequently, to offer an alternative to the Anthropocene. The article develops Bernard Stiegler’s take on work and discusses the way Stiegler brings up to date the theoretical reflection on the transformations of work undertaken by André Gorz. The article addresses the question of work in relation to energy crisis and work automation. Advocating for a redefinition of work beyond employment, the article envisages work automation as a new opening for what work denotes, rather than the end of work. However, two conditions must be met in order to make such a change possible; it is necessary to redefine work beyond employment and socialize benefits from work automation
